Hindu Kush Auto

Began germinating 3/28. Started in a rapid rooter and put in its temporary pot 4/6. Coco coir 2/3 with expanded clay pebbles 1/3. space is an issue in the 4x4 grow tent as One of the Autos is taking its time to show Amber. so currently its suspended on the side of the tent in a nice spot under a light. I have 3 othe plants going at staggerd start times. The space issue is that I was impatient and didnt space the times out far enough, the Tangerine Dream is in its 13th week...and just starting to get milky trichomes. Thee Critical Purple is 3 times larger than I expected....it goes wall to wall and would fill the tent if it was alone in there. The Gorilla Glue is crowded in the corner and is last in line to finish. Using Frequent Fertigation. Have 3 LEDs: 2 Phlyzon 1200 and one 6 led COB, total actual draw approx 800w for the tent.

Transplanted 4/15 to the 3 gallon pot. have only been feeding calmag. Will start nutrient regimen 4/19. Looking healthy and is on its 4th node.

On 4-21 I inadvertently used high EC to fertigate and caused some nutrient damage. the pic on 4-23 has all leaves with no issues. The next day the issues appeared.on the upper growth. I did do a low EC irrigation to rinse the medium when I realized it on 4-22. The damage shows up on 4/24. The pix demonstrate how the signs of imbalanced nutrient concentration can be delayed. Taking notes I was able to see I f'd up the next scheduled fertigation and did the low EC. Of course, with as many variables are there are to everything, only the next set of new growth will tell if Im right or just high.

Hindu has taken off and is filling up its space. I was correct about the nutrients issue being resolved. All new growth is un-blemished. Its tent mates are taking their time...particularly a Critical purple (no diary for that one), which takes up 2/3 of my 4x4 tent. The purple may still have 2 weeks to go. Im afraid the slow purple will hamper this plant by limiting its space. The other tent-mate (Gorilla Glue) is taking as much room as the purple will allow it and it may finish before the purple. I love opening the tent and being able to see how much the plant has grown.

Its officially too big for the space available due to my continuing poor planning. The Critical Purple may have two more weeks, and the other cramped tent-mate Gorilla Glue is at least one week away. I have reduced nutrient concentrations. I have trimmed the lowest two branches (totally shaded). I wish I could shape it but the space is doing that for me. Very healthy growth and appearance. The main stalk is very stout.

Things were very crowded, wall to wall and not much room for the Hindu as it was wanting to bush up. The Critical purple was finally harvested on 5/12, and the Gorilla on 5/15. Its begun to soak up more water and nurtients. Looks very healthy. Glad to finnally see the whole plant! Starting to flower up.

Love watching it flower up. nice white almost translucent pistols tangled with new leaves and budding calix's. starting to show first bits of visible frost. I rotate the plant to give even lighting between the different lights. I do this at each tent visit (usually 2x/day). I set the ec target just below the recommended low range. Its a little higher than half strength. The EC this week has started climbing and I have done one 100% run-off fertigation. At the next event, if the run-off is still at the upper end of the target I will do a weak EC flush. The main stalk is very sturdy. each of the branches are also very strong. I was afraid they'd be wimpy due to being stuck in the corner. I was set to start supporting them but will just let them go and will do any support or training as the plant asks for it. I pruned the lower branches and any side branches in the lower part that would be in full shade.

I havent had to do any training to aid the bud sites getting maximum light, the plant seemd to have made itself a nice little canopy with a modest main cola. the branches are very stout and are the sturdiest of the autos I have grown this year. I will be adding some support this next week in the anticipation of the the buds bulking up. The flowers are producing lots of gorgeous white calix's. i love opening the tent for each fertigation and seeing noticable growth. The EC started to creep up and this morning the runoff was +300ec. I also noticed some leaf tips getting brown. So tonight I did a rinse with Phd water, 3.5 liters. The runnoff was below the target EC. I then fertigated with 1 liter nutrient water with a runoff -200of the input.

Everything is looking good. the buds are plumping up and getting dense. The tent aroma is getting stronger but still fairly mild. The smell of the resin on my fingers after touching a bud is very lemony. A clean and happy smell! I accidentally poured .75l of run-off into the pot when i was supposed to be pouring it onto the marigolds...the result showed 2 days later with brown spots on a lot of the fan leaves around the main cola (at least thats what Im attributing it to). I should have rinsed the pot right away, but i wasn't prepared for that so It wasn't done for 24 hrs. Lesson learned...wait till after feeding to hit that bong of Tangerine Dream. Im not worried about it because i cant change it, just keep going. It will be fine. The plant is very sturdy. the main trunk is very thick and the branches are very stiff. I have added some preliminary support around the bottom of the branches, and have installed vertical sticks to attach support for the branches. The plant is so sturdy i am waiting to ad support till its needed from bud weight. the plant made its own perfect canopy and should make some good big buds.

The Hindu is plumping up its buds nicely! The aroma still is only moderate, but is increasing everyday. The pistols are just starting to brown in places, the trichomes are looking good and are mostly clear with some translucent. The run-off EC has been climbing quicker than the last 3 plants, I attribute this to the increased air circulation in the tent since its the only one in there, also the humidity has been in the low to mid 40's. I've increased the volume of fertigation and started using my good meter to measure the run-off so I can have a more accurate measurement and also monitor the pH (which I only used to measure the run-off pH intermittently and when mixing each batch). I slightly increased the strength of each batch from .9 to 1.2ec because i started having some nutrient deficiency signs. The run-off has gotten as high as 1.6 ec. I flush with some plain pH'd water till the runoff is 1.2 and then give the normal strength solution. So lots of extra run-off, but my outdoor garden (non cannabis...herbs, flowers, peppers and tomatoes) is loving it! I give the runoff to all my garden plants.

Buds are plumping up nicely and Trichome hunting season has begun. They are mostly clear today and the aroma of the plant is getting stronger. I vent outside and when there is only a slight breeze in the right direction the sweet smell fills the yard! I removed the 6 mo old Marigold bush I had in the tent as a pest barrier. It was too big and unmanageable. I have another one that just entered bloom today. There was 3 say window between the old marigolds being removed and the young plant blooming, in that time Fungus gnats showed up. So Ive treated the top of the media with a hydrogen peroxide solution. Noticeably diminished numbers. Hope my remediation method is successful so I dont have to address it more aggressively.

Got rid of the Gnats after the treatments to the media surface with soap mixture and H2O2 spray of the surface of the pot followed by scrubbing to remove the fungus growing on the side. Coincidentally the new marigold plant has two full blossoms. The temps outside are getting higher and the A/c cycles more, so my tent is actually staying cooler. The Aroma is getting strong and lemony pungent. The tent is vented out the window on a 2nd story over looking the back yard. often when there is just a slight breeze blowing the right way, the yard is filled with the happy aroma of the Hindu Kush! I like weed. As you can see by the pix Ive been trichome hunting. This is an Indica auto and my target trichomes would be mostly all cloudy to milky. I belive after looking tonight (6-28), that they are pretty much there. The pistols are mostly red and some bud leaves are showing a tinge of color. The fan leaves are starting to fade all over. I remove yellowed leaves as I see them. The buds are large and very dense. I am worried about botrytis like what happened to my giant critical purple buds. I am also somewhat confident because the temps have averaged 78% with lights on and only in low 80s a couple of times while they have been budding. The Main cola is 12" long and very thick and dense. Two of the side colas are almost as big as the main one, and the rest are also looking like they will be good big buds. I will probably harvest tomorrow night.

I started this seed too soon with the other plants still lingering in flower. but soon enough it had the whole tent to itself and even full lights. With the cob on one side and the led on the other, i would rotate the plant 1/4 to 1/3 turn at each visit. The results were 15 nice colas plus the queen cola. My harvest target was mostly red pistols and mostly cloudy trichomes. I scrutinized the plant daily for two weeks leading up to the harvest. Trying my best to use the usb micro scope and the jewelers loop, and the old man magnifying glass. The 40x jewelers loop is ok, but its dam hard to hold still, and the one I have is not optically perfect so its very difficult to use. The USB scope also has movement issues as the slightest tough makes it all blurry. turning off the fans helps, but its still very frustrating trying to get a good look at multiple sights. I cut the branches of starting at the top and worked my way down. I trimmed large leaves and small buds and weighed each cola and hung on the rack with numbered sites. I tracked the weight for each one so when it came time to put in jars each cola group of buds was together. I was worried about bud rot and tried spreading buds away from the stalk to help get air around and also to inspect for botrytis inside. I let them dry for 7 days with good ventilation, oscillating fans blowing a gentle breeze. I was a little longer than Id planned but it was the holiday so timing wasn't on my side. The buds are dryer over all than optimum, but given the bud rot prospects, Ill take them slightly too dry. The outsides are almost crisp, but the buds are large and the core still has some moisture. I spread some of the fat ones out to open up the insides to air, again to try and keep from rot. I anticipate the remaining moisture in the buds will add some humidity to the dryer extremities. The buds were dry trimmed and inspected again for rot. Unfortunately 2 had it. They were plump buds and Im lucky I didn't lose more. I re-re-inspected the buds for rot ( used the loop). I cataloged each cola and jarred them individually. My trim tray has a screen on it and I have scraped out some kief to press into a puck. Now...more waiting. 6 weeks in jar is my ready date.
