It took longer than I expected, but that was just my lack of total understanding of all the variables that can play into autos, I suppose. Loved the aroma of the plant as its flowers plumped up. The high is almost instantaneous. Very nice head rush! If toked too close to bedtime it may keep you up for a while. The buzz is long lasting and great for visuals and music. It has a 'medium' level of CBD in it and I have noticed that when my back or hip pain flair up, after toking this the pain diminishes for hours! Way better than taking pain meds like aspirin or Tylenol. I also occasionally tweak my groin muscle and this soothes the pain very quickly. The relief is noticeable and fast. While some of the non-CBD flower Ive toked does make you forget about the pain, this actually seems to help with the healing. I also took one cola 2 weeks early, it had many clear trichomes. Its like a super strong cup of coffee! The jar aroma is piney citrus and the taste is the same. Nice good big buds.

Part of my lack of experience came into play as it did seem to be taking forever to make amber trichomes and stop making calix's. Not understanding my plant may have contributed to the airy buds that were the final product after dried and set in jars. Very frosty. Nice aroma that is way mellower than the live aroma. Ive been toking on a cola I took 3 weeks ago, it has great aroma, has a great up high. Its almost like a nice cup of coffee as it wakes me up and makes me want to do stuff. Long lasting. Its the sativa type high I was hoping for. I wet trimmed all but the lower level branches. The total wet weight of the low level branches was 449g and dry trimmed is 65g. This is not included in the harvest weights given in the results. The main cola looked like a nice dense mini-pineapple at harvest, it weighed 90g wet and 10g dry (the placement on the dry rack was the breeziest so it probably dried too fast.) The main cola's weight is included in the final weight. So it didnt live up to its potential, structure wise,Large buds, lots of trichomes yet isnt something you'd want to buy in a dispensary because it looks like it was grown by an amateur. I am happy with the early harvested buds, its super frosty and sticky with a nice citrus-diesel aroma when pinched off for a bong, however its pretty bland taste wise when smoked. I chose diesel as a the flavor but thats not accurate with this early sample. When the final harvest is fully cured, I hope the taste is different.0 update: 6 weeks since being in the jars. The aroma has improved greatly. the aroma started noticibly improving right at the end of the 6th week. Its seems to be improving a little each day since. The smoke taste has also improved and the tangy citrusy taste is coming out. its a little sweet as well. Its is still marginal as far as total taste as the taste that are coming out are just a little weak. The way its been s changing Im hoping it continues to cure. Taking a bong and almost instant buzz. Its mellower than the 2 week early cola sample I took. Still a daytime high, slow creaping into a full buzz and nice fade off, lots of fun energy and buzz when working outside around the house. For me it last a long time. but if im just sitting around I can doze off in the chair. if I start getting a little bored and drowsy, one hit is like a cup of coffe, but It doesnt give me insomnia like the early harvest samples do.

@Greeneyes2155, Thanks for checking out my grow! This was my first grow since college years. Here it is a year later after harvesting this plant and I am still enjoying it! Good luck on your Pineapple! Hope you grow some good big buds!

Cannapuck your diary is a great read for me šŸ˜‰. I am growing same strain, same vendor. It's my first time growing autos as well as my first time with LEDs. And I am seeing similarities with the plant development. I really slowed my grow down with a couple of newbie errors, but was thinking that this auto strain might be a slower grow than others. Anyway, love what you have done! šŸ˜Ž

@dweemyss, This was the first pot plant Ive grown since college. Been dreaming of growing my own again ever since then (1982). When it became legal to grow in my state I immediately started planning this, I even grew my hair out to hippy length. This plant wasnt perfect, but it sure turned out great for me. While I have plenty to last a really long time, I want to grow it again. Good luck on your grow! Hope you get some good big buds.

Following you my friend. Plant looks great. I am also growing this right now and am running into similar issues. I started 9 days after you and mine is about 61 inches tall. Ive lost almost all the fan leaves and shes looking like she has at least two weeks left. Curious to see how yours turns out, your nuggs are much fatter than mine. They look delicious. Did you have to feed heavy? Did you notice more maturation when switching over to water only? Im thinking about doing the same. Good Luck and wishing you a bountiful harvest!

@TheDevilsLettuce, I am doing frequent fertigation, its for coco and is nutrients every watering with 10-20+ run off 2 or more times a day. Actually following Mfc nutrient schedule and mix...using the low end of the recommended ppm target. I adjust in-flow ppm based on outflow ppm. Mine is 36" tall. I switched to non-phd non nutrient RO h20 with a flush agent at week 12 and did that till recently. Now just the water with minimal runoff. It did not experience more growth when i did that, it did seem to slow, and while it still made a few fresh calix's it did start showing to be maturing more. the second tier colas are all red pistols now and has mostly milky Trichomes, and very few amber, but its branches are yellowing and that says its time for those. I will trim them as soon as i finish this reply. the main cola and a couple of second tiers have still been putting white pistols out and is about 75% red with virtually zero amber trichomes. It will be trimmed tomorrow or Friday. I am trying to wait for just a few ambers. But if none come by then im sure its done. I took a colas that was about 75% red pistols and it is smokable though not fully cured...and its great...a little airy, not dense, but super sticky and super aromatic. i cant imagine a 61" plant! LOL! I do have another Auto in the tent thats 3 weeks behind, Critical purple and its 57" and is wall to wall. Thanks for the msg, Hope you grow good big buds! *update: Didnt trim after all but will do the whole plant today. I was mistaken about the yellowing limbs, it was just the LEDs playing tricks, a bright flashlight showed they were still healthy green, but does have some Purple coloring on the stems.

lol. we must have similar taste. I have 3 Critical Purps on deck and was thinking about SOG them in a 2x4. Glad you mentioned that, would have been a big mistake. Thanks for the tips! Looking forward to your harvest post

Whats up CP.... I've seen you somewhere else. Maybe coco for cannabis. I have a few questions about your tangerine grow when u get a chance.

@Mr_Ewell, I forgot...I do have the same handle on Coco for Canabis...I guess I was high! LOL! seriously forgot about signing up and entering a picture for pic of the week till today.

Weird_Jimmycommented5 years ago
@Mr_Ewell, Your guess for my handle is correct...lol...I love weed and hockey! I used the low end of the recomended EC strength mix target for General hydroponics flora series, and I use the entire line. Its a little more than 1/2 strength. I start with RO water that is at 4micro seimens. one mistake Ive made is cutting the Calmag as well when I should have been using the calmag doses for the final volume of the batches made. I think my highest EC was aprrox 1.3ms. I didnt do a good job with details on this diary because i back filled it all when it was almost done. This was the first pot plant Ive grown since college in 1981

@Weird_Jimmy, ah that's funny. Does cannapuck mean something. I picture a hockey puck made outta weed lol. But my main question is what was your ppm or ec top out?

@ThatoneAKguy, thanks for reading my grow and your thoughts on airy buds. The humidity was pretty much average 50% for my grow. When summer got here and the a/c ran more and the humidity was more around 45%. I suspect a couple of factors that went into the airiness of both the Tangerine and the Purple grows, one was reducing nutrients at ripening stage, and two was high temps. I had good air flow with fans inside the tent, vented ducting fan to outside, as well as ducted fan inflow. Both plants were maturing duing early spring and the HVAC in the house didnt hardly run at all due to outside mild temps. The temp hit upper 80s for a few days before I started cranking the A/C. The giant Buds on the purple were dense inside, and foxtailed towards the end. I think the high temps baked the big buds. Both my Gorila and the Hindu had good dense buds. By the time those had matured I was more in tune with what was going on. Im sure I created some other issues on my own with nurtients but that was just part of the learning curve. I also rapid dried the Tangerine and the Purple. My dry area is not as ideal as I would prefer but eventually I will be able to create a better dry station than what I have now. While none of my grows have been perfect they have gotten better each time and have learned a lot. I understand how LEDs are rated and the total wattage listed is the actual wall draw for my plants. I maxed out the tent with 4 plants. I am going to continue using the lights I have and have no plans on buying any new ones yet. I am going to do just one plant at a time now. I like being able to access the entire plant. My original plan was one auto a month mature in a constant grow. But that is practical given the differences each strain presents in flowing time. I only have space for one tent, thats why I originally choose auto's. my plan has changed and now I am just doing one plant at a time with the goal of meeting the plants potential. So I started a photo today. Im starting a C99 and if it germinates and sprouts, the new journal will start in a week. Good luck to you and hope you always grow good big buds.

@Weird_Jimmy, Thanks for coming by my page and giving a like. It prompted me to reciprocate. I read through your diary and was heard you mention the airy flowers a couple times. I frequent a couple other forums and learned this myself. First off GREAT diary. Surprised you donā€™t have one going now? Here are the factors from the old timers as to why airy can happen. Humidity is too high, thatā€™s over 60% though and not common as youā€™d have mold too most likely and that didnā€™t happen. Lack of air circulation, but I donā€™t think thatā€™s a thing either unless itā€™s a small part. Lighting, since switching to the HLG series Iā€™m suspect of all purple lighting because itā€™s only half of its actual rated wattage and. Not truly full spectrum unless you paid out the you know what. Have a look at the quantum 288 qb boards. So worth the money! potash and phosphorus deficiencyā€™s, if you had any weird little tick in about week two to three of flower where your large fan leaves rusted or yellowed from the center or the veins purpled on a non purple variety this BEAST of a plant needed more. I use GHE also and if you look through the PPM on my latest projects youā€™ll crap. Although I have a reservoir and it builds in late stages I pushed it through guidance early on without burn with guidance and they got huge fast. Lastly it could just simply be genetics or a phenotype. Either way congrats to you and Iā€™ll be waiting for your next one.

@BucketBrigade, The buds look like they might be dense as I grew and harvested, alas they dried out a bit airy. I used frequent fertigation, wich in short is nutrients at every watering, with 10-20% runoff, 2-3x's a day. Using manufacturer mix chart and lower end of the ppm mix target. Measuring run-off and adjusting the nutrient concentration to prevent nutrient burn. also lots of lighting. My impatience with it maturing and flushing too early may have contributed to the lack of optimum density. While the finished product isnt as dense as I would have liked, its still very frosty and way more than I anticipated quantity wise. Just the second tier buds and main cola combined when put in the jars was around 200 grams. The aroma when I open the jars for their periodic 'burping' is fantastic.
