Sour Zoda in Living Soil

Growtopus Seifuku is already a bit bigger, around 12 days old, and has almost rooted through the seedling pot. About 0.2 L of water has been given in total, as she consumes very little water. No nutrients or boosters yet, Root Magic is still working. Sour Zoda has just emerged from the substrate, and the time difference will be balanced out in the veg stage by topping. --- Seifuku is already bigger and about 12 days old. The small pot is almost rooted and she's ready to be planted into the living soil, but will be topped more than the Sour Zoda to compensate for the age.

Growtopus After finally being able to upload photos again, here’s a somewhat delayed update. The two have finally been placed in their tent and didn’t handle the change in lighting very well — they significantly slowed down their growth for a few days, and there was also a bit too much water. All in all, though, they are steadily growing. The final pot was prepared some time ago with the Living Soil Mix from Wizzy's Garten (Wizzy's Magic Soil Mix), watered, and covered. It will soon be ready, and once the starter pots are fully rooted and the seedlings are ready, they will be transplanted.

Growtopus The weeks got a bit mixed up, everything took much longer than planned. At first, too much water, too little light, and too much ventilation in the big tent made it hard for them to get started. In the meantime, they are in their own tent and growing much better. The living soil was able to compost for about 3 weeks and was mixed with the ingredients from Wizzy's Garten.

Growtopus Addendum because I forgot. The Seifuku was topped since it already had a bit of a lead compared to the Sour Zoda. The living soil is working really well and both are continuing to grow evenly. For the Sour Zoda, training will be held off a little longer; then a specific pair of leaves will be removed to encourage bushier growth. That worked really well with my Red Velvet—let’s see how she responds. Both were watered with about 1.5 L spread out over 3 days.

Growtopus Addendum: We have a pest infestation, so the soil was covered with a thick layer of sand and then gravel on top. This prevents the sand from being washed away when watering and makes it less attractive for root flies. The main branches of the Seifuku were bent down with clips. The lowest foliage was removed from both so I can get the barrier nicely onto the soil.

Growtopus Already week 6 — crazy how much a bad start can delay everything. Still, the growth of the Sour Zoda is really impressive. Huge leaves with many fingers, bushy structure, and nice uniform growth. On the Sour Zoda, however, anthomyiid flies have spread and are causing serious damage. Today I added Spruzit Neem to the water and sprayed the surfaces with Compo Schädlingsfrei. That way all the flies in the tent die off, the larvae in the soil are targeted, and the infestation is kept under control. The light was lowered to 50 cm and at the same time increased from 40% to 60%. The goal now is to make the plants really “sweat” and raise the temperatures so that the pots dry out faster, making the soil less attractive for the larvae. I only managed to add about 0.5 L of water since both were still a bit too wet. -- Update: Added three new photos to better show the damage on the Sour Zoda. All new shoots are really light and twisted, the growth is slow, and the existing leaves are curling. Today (31.08.), however, I didn’t see a single fly flying around anymore.

Growtopus The Seifuku is not recovering and many leaves are completely wilted and have been removed. No idea why, but continuing doesn't really make sense, so only the Sour Zoda will keep growing.

Growtopus So, we’ve switched to flowering, even though I probably should have waited a bit longer. But the timing just worked out well – with the defoliation and the gap since the last “Pflanzgeflüster” treatment. The shoots were slightly thinned of leaves and side branches and adjusted with clips, so we can spread them out nicely. Later on during flowering, I’ll fine-tune things further with some wires. This time, despite the ready-made Living Soil mix, we added a good amount of boosters and some liquid fertilizer to help the plants and soil life recover from the neem oil extract treatment. Tomorrow they’ll also get some Soil Starter so that the soil fungi can reestablish themselves. With the next watering, I’ll add some honey to give the microorganisms enough energy to spread quickly and support the plant.

Growtopus A few days ago, I sprayed them with Plant Whisper and every time I water, I add a little dose of Plant Booster. The fulvic in it is supposed to help the soil life and the plant. The burns are probably light burn. The lowest leaves are not affected at all and the new growth isn’t either; it seems to have adapted. The SANlight is running at 60%, which corresponds to 159 W. That's quite a bit for one plant. At BT10, I've now also seen the first signs of flowering, and I hope it kicks into high gear now 👍🏻

Growtopus We are now at the end of BW 3. The leaves are a bit dull and it had light burn, but it has recovered from that and is starting to form beautiful buds. I added some extra bloom fertilizer from Wizzy's Garden to the substrate, it was properly defoliated and lollipopped, and now we can move on.

Growtopus Tag 25 / Beginning of BW4 After the slow start into flowering, it's now starting to smell and getting stickier. Unfortunately, I can't find any information on the duration since they were freebies. I suspect it will still be around 4 - 5 weeks, so we can get nice big and sticky buds. To support it, I added 3 g / 10 L of Plant Booster, 2 g / L of Weedtamine, and a few teaspoons of dextrose.

Growtopus BT33: It's slowly getting nice and full of resin, and the buds are forming beautiful colors and trichomes. BW5 is a bit past halfway, and from a distance, you can see that the buds are already forming some mass. Soon there will be a bit more honey, plant whispers, and FertiPlus 5-1-5+, which will be enough for the end along with some boosts.

Growtopus Bt36 I cut back a lot of foliage again to make sure all the buds get proper light. The development is good and it smells nice, but I can't really place it. Bt41 25.10. The smell is leaning towards sweet/rosy and is very pleasant, not sharp but tasty. The buds are also gaining mass nicely and are getting nice and thick. In two to three weeks, it should be ripe. I'll add some Weedtamine with the next watering.

Growtopus Flowering week 6 has started, and we took some beautiful photos of BT42. The plant still smells very sweet and rosy. About 2 more weeks to go. BT47 In the meantime, it smells like sour fruits; the scent has become much more intense and stronger over the past few days. We added some more FertiPlus 7-2-3+ and Plant Booster so it can really push hard now. On Sunday, we'll take more photos with the camera, then we can easily check the trichomes to see if it works well at 8 weeks.

Growtopus Somewhere there was a mistake with the BT/BW, we are now BT 49 but somehow counted as BW8. For clarity, I’ve attached the photos here. In the meantime, it just smells like Fanta x Sprite, super tasty and sour, really lives up to its name. Kind of confusing.

Growtopus BT57 Beginning BW9 We're nearing the end. Due to the strong light, we've gotten a few foxtails, but there were only photos of the beautiful buds :D In the meantime, it smells like Paulaner Spezi, which I can't quite wrap my head around, even though it smells really good. It's just totally unusual for a plant to smell like that. Harvest will be on Wednesday (BT59), most of the trichomes are milky with some amber. The buds are rock hard and massive, I'm very excited for the harvest.

Growtopus 261 g wet is totally fine given the circumstances. The pest infestation really disturbed them during the veg stage, and it was supposed to be two plants. On top of that, the light was just set way too strong and stressed them out even more. Now, I'm drying them in the DryFerms I still had. Dry weight is 80 g, now just waiting for the curing. So, the bud shots have been added. A sample was sent to the lab, ~ 20.7% THC, ~ 24% total cannabinoids.
