First Time Grow. Thank You Legalization!!!
4 outta 5 seeds germinated which was right on target for suppliers germination guarantee
Yes I’m a nerd and named each of the 4 that broke soil so let me introduce you too:
-Delilah
First to break soil
-Emilia
Second
-Ella.
Third
-Sadie.
Came up with 1 leaf 😕
So gung ho to do all the things I’ve read to increase end game that I didn’t think it through befor making the mistake to Low Stress Train these girls Soooo early. I’ll hang my head in shame as I finish typing this.
These were originally planted into 6” pots I got at the dollar store and drilled 7 rows of 12 holes in the sides as I knew I wanted to increase air flow in these plastic pots until their real pots showed up. You may have noticed their home was changed into 7 gallon fibre pots at end of week one above soil.
Few changes this week.....
32x32x63 tent was replaced with a 36x48x80 propagation tent. I’ve taken the center divider wall running from roof to under side shelf and then back down. Wanted more space in main side with enough room to have thermostat controlled heater, humidifier and dehumidifier plugged into an inkbird programable controller. Between these items and the T4 cloudline duct fan my ranges for humidity and temperature seem to be very consistent. Have a clip on fan creating enough air flow to make plants “dance”. Attached to the fan is the end of the diy co2 generator.
Started them on mild veg nutes from General hydroponics 3 bottle pack Flora micro, grow, bloom. Changed how water is prepared by filling 2 gallon buckets with tap water and left for 24 hours to let chlorine out. The lid on this bucket has two sink drain strainers (1 in 1 out) to allow chlorine escape and prevents water bubbles from the aquarium pump spitting out of bucket making a mess. Yes I said aquarium pump, figure if chlorine is escaping oxygen probably is to so $25 later the water has tons of oxygen now.
Goal for the week is to keep stem as horizontal to soil surface as I can without stressing them. Thoughts were to give as much light to lowers now so they can chase behind the main cola. I’m willing to sacrifice height of plant for width so long as I stand a chance as less little stuff and more top flowers. Now this could all be fun to say and all but this is my first grow and I expect to make mistakes and learn from them on they way. After all a plant wants to grow, but you do with it while it grows determined if your efforts are worth it or not.
With one starting to flower, and 3 of 4 with pistils and daily growth slightly slowing for a few days now, they will get transition nutes tomorrow morning on their last day of week 6
Transition nutes feed at start of week, calimagic feed mid week, and end of week was full bloom nutes. Trichomes are rapidly popping up throughout the tent now.
All tie downs have been removed now that I feel I’ve got the branches spread out pretty evenly. I do have to admit I set myself back at start of week when making the mistake of adjusting the top tie down on Emilia very early in the morning (so early I hadn’t even had a coffee) as I was adjusting I heard the dreaded Snap!
Just like that....what was the tallest plant (Emilia) had her top 6 branches plus main “cola” shoot snapped off.
Not a good start to the week!
At this point I estimate 3-4 more weeks away from these little girls being ready for drying process. Look forward to the up coming weeks as buds start to forward
Exciting week as flowers showing up all over the place by the end of this week. Environment is stable however I did have to upgrade dehumidifier this week as the 250ml capacity (I cheated out okay) wasn’t cutting it once humidity level had to drop below 65.
*** bought a $50 light meter and don’t regret it at all. Knowing that I want my canopy to maintain 600-900, after meter arrived it proved that the “said to be” 2000 watt led I had in tent was actually more like a 400 watt true led. So I’ve changed that light out for a 600 true with wider range of light which has a great output everywhere across my 3’x4’ tent
Being a first time grower google seems to be my new best friend, But I’ve enjoyed the process to this point. Have learnt a few valuable lessons along the way and Look forward to the upcoming weeks
As I find myself wanting these plants to hurry up and finish.... I also want them to keep going for as long as they feel like taking. I’m confident that these 4 plants are further behind then they should be according to other grower diaries I’ve read about. Just going to keep maintaining what I’m doing and let them run their course. Fingers crossed I don’t start seeing leafs browning befor I can give them another round of nutrients without limiting their flushing.
Looking forward to see what’s in store for next week. Hoping to see all these “popcorn” flowers start to bulk up!
Thanks for reading, I’m all ears to suggestions.
This week there had been no signs of end of life cycle up until this last day in week 10. At today’s “checkup” I notice some imperfections in 2 of the leafs. Too make sure it was in fact the browning of the fan leaves I’ve been waiting for or if for the first time I was going to catch some critters nibbling leafs.
Being unsure I cut the two leaves and put them under a cheap clip on phone microscope. I believe this cheap microscope will allow me to keep an eye on Trichomes now closer then the naked eye can see. Posted the photos of what I believe to be my first sign to flush. With that said I’m hoping to see these little ladies go another two weeks befor harvest.
Delilah- don’t know if it’s going to be too little too late for her or not. However it seems like she wants to wake up from hibernation and come join her sisters. She has started popping out pistils and continues too grow both height and width and I’ve left her alone so she’s getting bushy. I’m about as confused with her as she is with herself though as she seems to be growing her branches in singles not doubles like the other 3 growing right beside her. Amusingly enough she still wants to grow up while being feed flowering nutes.
Emilia- outta the 4 white widows Emilia here has the biggest flowers so far.
Where I snapped the main cola weeks back doing way to early morning stress training......I now refer to as the football goal posts as that’s what the top of this one looks like now.
Ella and Sadie are right behind Emilia
This week the girls have been given water, water, dry, water, water, dry etc.
Emilia, Ella and Sadie have maintained a 14 ppm chemical soil balance as they have only seen straight ph’d water since full flush at end of last week.
Delilah who had decided to “hibernate” on me for weeks befor awakening last week has taken great join in letting me know she’s here too. Although she appears to be a month or so behind her sisters, she also looks like if I give her the time she wants that she will produce more then any other plant growing in tent right now.
At last check the Trichomes on Emilia still appears to be glassy with the odd one starting to get milky
I knew prior to starting this grow that not all plants grow equally even under the same conditions. Well after seeing Delilah’s progress this week it is a reminder not to mess with an auto flowering plant at such a young age. Just let the plant be a plant, it wants to grow, so let it.
I’ll openly admit being a first time grow I “played” with these plants to much thinking that it would be better in the end. However it’s proven not to be the case.
Pretty boring week, nothing really to talk about.
Patiently waiting for these little ladies to let me know when they are ready.....
Leaves are barely browning, Trichomes are not turning milky very fast. I’m no professional grower in any shape or form but it’s pretty safe to say these have a few more weeks still. Which tells me the total flush was done sooner then I should have. Another lesson learnt for next time.
So after 94 days Emilia, Ella and Sadie have been cut down. None of these 3 plants produced much more then lessons to be learnt. I’m contributing the lack of yield to a couple key failures.......first is the under powered light for first month and a half. Second would be very early Low stress training. But the biggest failure I think I had this first time growing was my rush to flush, made the mistake of completely flushing soil to till it was the same ppm as the tap water used to flush. Leaving no flowering nutrients available to the flowers at an important time.
Latest mistake would be cutting them down befor fan leaves all browned. Now with that said I knew when cutting them down they were not going to do anything more then they had already done. They were at this point just wasting space in the tent and slowing down the next round of plants.
Delilah is the last plant standing at this point so she has been moved from an indoor tent to the back enclosed patio. Guessing she will keep going for another month or so. Another guess would be that this last of 4 plants will produce more then all 3 of the others combined.
Dry weight on first 3 tiny yielding plants I screwed up....
Emilia = 11.98
Ella
= 9.45
Sadie = 8.51
Burns good, clean ash, taste will get better as it cures.
Delilah the last white widow flowering seems to be pretty happy and content. No fan leaves are browning yet, so keep on filling in!!!
Day count continues to climb as the last standing widow continues to put on weight. Still no signs of browning leaves. Being fed 1/2 flowering nutes every 3-4 days
Pretty much the same as last week. Just putting on weight bulking up. No leaves changing yet either. Should start seeing leaves changing any day now.....
Another week goes by and last one standing continues to bulk up. Should start browning some leafs any day I would assume. She is stubborn thou so who knows
I was away at the beginning of the week. When I came back I had a fair amount of top buds on lean. Sure glad I took the time to green screen em previously or that could have been a lot worse way to learn my lesson. Fan and sugar leaves started to brown up while I was away as well. With that said, in the next 2 days I’ll flush her the same way I did her 3 sisters. Keep dumping water threw her till the run off is the same ppm as the tap water going in. Figure she should be ready to harvest in another week or two. 3 if need be but I doubt it.
First 4 plants have now been harvested. Wish I coulda let this last one go another week or 2 but as I was admiring one of the top colas I noticed the start of mold on her so I cut everything an inch and a half away from the infected spot and harvested the rest. I wet trimmed befor hanging to dry for almost 2 days before removing the flowers from the stocks to finish drying.
2 hours sweating them in a sealed bag to force interior moisture out.
Yield was definitely less then I was hoping for but at the same time the last plant pushed out 3x as much as the first 3 so atleast I’m learning from my many mistakes.
End product looks good, tastes great and now moving forward it’s time to ditch the auto seeds and move to the photos.
Thanks to all that followed along my journey and made suggestions along the way. Help was appreciated, Thank You!!!
@DD_420,
Still some time to go for them to bulk even more. I Googled about what to expect in the last few weeks of flowering. There was mixed thoughts. Some said buds just get more developed but not in weight. Others said buds fatten in last few weeks. ... so that was a useless task I carried out, as no real answer. Plus up to variety or strain. Probables go on and on.. nutes, lights etc.
I put in 2 side lights at each end. Hoping this may increase bud size. And increased bloom and decreased grow nutes.
Hope everything works out for you. 👊🏼😎🤞🏼
@Puffer_Bill, with each day that passes I can see visual differences of little popcorn nuggets bulking up
Thinned them out at little as well since I don’t have any lower lights
Your plants are coming along awesome! I too am on my first grow, WW Auto from CKS as well, about the same week as you too. I fell for the same trap,I bought two "1000W" cheap LEDs I used for the first couple weeks of veg and realized they probably weren't putting out enough juice so I got a 600W Meizhi Light to add to the two cheapo's. Can't wait to see how yours turn out.
