From the Barney's website- "WIDOW REMEDY™️ was created by first crossing Tijuana Sativa with Kerala which created a beautiful Sativa dominant plant, flowering with high levels of cannabinoids. The strain was then further developed when combined with a pure Afghan, mainly to increase yield, shorten the flowering period and the added bonus of increased CBD potency in the final selection. The final result from this three-way blend is a remarkable hybrid with lineage approaching to the widow strain with added CBD. WIDOW REMEDY™️ is an effective cure for pain relief, insomnia and comfort for nausea. Rainy day blues evaporate in its mist." Little ones are in spare room with heat mat set to 70. They are in front of a South East facing window. They are in Fox Farm Happy Frog soil. Started 5 regular seeds. No need for nutes yet.

Put the girls under a 45w grow light strip instead of just the window. They just got a little Fox Farm Big Bloom this week. Yummy earthworm castings and bat guano!

So, I'm not happy with the Fox Farm Happy Frog soil. I'm not sure what it is, but my plants aren't nearly as healthy as last year. I'm planning on adding some Biochar this coming week so hopefully that will give them some juice. I'm debating what to do about nutes this year. I bought a gallon of the Big Bloom and am currently using that. However I don't think I'm going to use the other Fox farm products I used last year. I'm thinking of going a more natural route. I've been taking a permaculture course and learning about soil health, so I'd rather not use mineral salts so I have healthier soil. Blood Meal/Feather Meal for Nitrogen- Maybe a mix of both. Blood meal releases quickly while feather meal takes longer so you have a balance. Bone Char for Phosphorus Kelp Meal for Potassium Blackstrap Molasses for general health especially flowering. Biochar will give a great source of Carbon for water retention, and provide beneficial bacteria + Fungi.

It's been awhile since I updated to to a hellacious stomach bug, but these babies are doing well. They got a bit of blood meal for Nitrogen and I'm weaning off the grow lights on to more natural sun for when they go outside in a couple weeks when temps stabilize. They'll also be getting their own pots this week.

A couple of these plants look like crap and that's totally on me. I was short on pots and so I put all 3 in the big one. The smaller ones got their own pots this week with some Ocean Forest and they are adjusting. I guess I'm a bad mom, but I'm sure they'll persevere and catch up to their big sibling.

I know a couple of these don't look the best. They haven't been given a large pot like their sibling. I'll most likely transplant this afternoon. I just have zero time! Working full time at my old job, starting a new business and housesitting for someone's 3 cats, I'm going crazy! Therefore I haven't been giving these kids the attention they deserve, but I'm sure they'll catch up. Still waiting on the weather. It's supposed to get down to 49F overnight on Tuesday, after that I should be good to transplant into the garden on Wednesday after I finish at the Farmers Market. I'll be keeping an AG19 row cover on them as they settle in and don't get chilled at night. I managed to get a hold of some biochar so that will be going in with the Ocean Forest potting soil, as well as some lime to avoid lockout which happened to me last year the first time they were exposed to heavy rain.

I finally got them in the garden! It was a trip getting out there, so they don't look the greatest because they're stressed. I made a video explaining almost everything except I forgot to mention that I added about 5-10% Biochar in with the Fox farm potting soil. Also, the row cover will protect against pests.

I'm very happy with this weeks progress. They transitioned very well to the garden, which I'm chocking up to the row cover. They didn't need any water due to the thunderstorm we had last night, but I did make a ring around the base of each plant and gave them about 1-2 TBSP of the Coast of Maine Stonington Blend fertilizer. They also got their tomato cages.

Managed to sex out the males this week, especially easy since the girls were putting out some pre-flower pistils. Moved others around a little using my potato fork and now everyone is in a much better spacing. Bummer that 2 out of 3 were males, but that's ok! The ladies that are left will have more room to stretch. I gave them a little Big Bloom and some molasses.

This poor, sad little girl. I feel bad for neglecting her earlier on. But hopefully she will live up to her namesake and persevere! (I guess it is a little messed up that the strain is Widow Remedy and I killed both of her husbands😕) Anyway... So bugs suck, and I sprayed with some neem oil and put out a sticky trap. Fertilized with some of the Coast of Maine and watered it in with some lime water. Heat wave is moving through right now, I hope she likes it hot😎 Forgive my slurred speech in the video, it's been a long week and my brain is addled😜

This girl is still doing her veg thing but I'm sure she'll be flowering by next weekend. She's looking good and filling out like the other girls. It'll be interesting to see how much she stretches. She has a very lovely smell right now, lots of floral notes.

Aubergine is doing well. She's bulking up a little more with flower. I gave her some homemade compost since she's looking hungry. One of the sets of buds has some purpling on it that I tried to show in the pictures. No tomato roof this week, my plans didn't work out so I have to make a trip to Lowe's. Next week hopefully before the cold and rain sets in.

Gave the photos a haircut today. Removed some fan leaves and lower branches that wouldn't amount to much. Gave the branches to my horse because he loves them! Tried enticing the ducks with fan leaves but they weren't having any of it. They prefer lettuce, not "The Devil's Lettuce"😂 I added in a little 5-1-1 fish fertilizer to my feeding regimen as well. Still picking off inchworms. Hurricane Dorian came through yesterday and gave us a good bit of rain and wind, so while the other girls were tucked under the roof, including the autos, Aubergine was at the end of the bench. I'm sorry, but I had to prioritize the others, I feel like they're at greater risk for mold. It got down to 49 F last night, which means it's really Fall now!

Good week for Aubergine. She is trucking along nicely and flowers are getting bigger. I tweaked the ratios of Big Bloom, molasses and fish emulsion. I'm curious to see when she will actually finish because I have a feeling it will be later than what Barney's says. But, this is a new strain so we'll see...

Aubergine has really put on some sugar this past week. Here I was thinking she was going to be into the 2nd week of October but she is having a strong finish. We're in the harvest window according to Barney's so we'll see what happens. All I know is she has a lovely floral smell and somewhat musky undertone. I upped that ratio of molasses this week with everyone but the Cure. I'll cut her off of nutes when the pistils start to brown.

The pistils are starting to brown a little so we're nearing the end, but this is not a September finish! Colas and bulking up I think she's had her last feeding. For awhile there I was worried about how this strain was going to finish but in the last couple weeks she's been really strong. I can't wait to see how she looks on harvest day!

Happy Harvest Day!
Rated
7/10

Growing this strain was ok, she's a heavier feeder than other strains. She was a late bloomer but had a decent finish. Had some mold so that affected numbers, so definitely needs protection. I harvested October 5th and frankly she could have gone a bit longer but I was worried about mold spreading and I wanted to keep this strain light anyway. The smell is fantastic though. She smells like a green apple Jolly Rancher! With that being said, this is a good daytime strain. Relaxing, but active. I actually went for a ride about an hour after vaping and noticed my hips were much more flexible and I was focused. One morning I had a particularly transcendental yoga/meditation session after I vaped this strain. *Update- I wish I could give this strain another 3 stars. While it was a heavy feeder and not the largest yields, the final product is unique. Since it's cured for the better part of a year I've been doing the occasional wake and bake with this strain and my day always goes better. I like to put on an uplifting trance mix while doing yoga or watching a tour of the Universe. It's uplifting yet relaxing; you can use it for some get up and go and have a great day, or you can vape it before bed and let it whisk you away to dreamland. Rainy day blues truly do evaporate in it's mist. I wish Growdiaries would let you change strain ratings, because things can change so much during the curing process. She may ot have put out a lot, but what she did is some 10* quality medicine.

Widow Remedy is a wrap! This Diary has been an interesting one. Things didn't always go to plan. This plant was the runt of the litter since the others turned out to be male. She had a lot of ground to make up compared to the others. She also didn't get the protection from the tomato roof that the others did, so therefore it was no surprise that she had a little mold on her at the end. She stated out small but I feel like she made up a lot of ground in the final weeks. Looking back it seems like this strain is a heavy feeder, more so than say Blue Shark. Blue Shark always had beautiful deep color when this one always seemed like she could have had a bit more. Which of course I could have modified my feeding a bit to give her what she needed but at the same time I wanted to see what she'd do. Being an outdoor grower without a lot of time I don't really want heavy feeding, finicky strains to look after. Part of the reason that Blue Shark is my favorite strain because not only is it's medicine versatile, it's a very easy strain to care for. All in all this girl didn't get much of a break but I think she did well considering the situation. With that said, I must admit I love the smell of this strain. She smells like a green apple Jolly Rancher. No joke. I can't wait to taste😋 I'll give you guys an update when she finishes drying and I get a taste!
