greenkeepers Kannabia Pheno Hunt 2025 Hi there! We are Anbauvereinigung Greenkeepers Leipzig e.V., a Cannabis Social Club based in Leipzig, Germany. We’re proud to present our so far biggest pheno hunting project in collaboration with Kannabia Seed Company, The Pure Factory, and Advanced Nutrients. With their generous support — providing seeds, nutrients, and equipment — we’re able to carry out a selection process of considerable scale and precision. This project includes four cultivars from Kannabia’s genetic catalog: • Apple Fritter • Pink Gelato • Zoap Rose • Sativa Dream We’ve started with 548 seeds. After careful observation and evaluation, only 72 plants — 18 per cultivar — will be taken into the flowering phase. Our goal is to identify standout phenotypes based on structure, vigor, resin production, and other key traits. We’re also testing an innovative internal selection method that we hope will improve the accuracy and repeatability of phenotype selection. While the details are still under internal research, this system forms the backbone of our decision-making process. The plan is to test it, validate it — and if successful — release it publicly. So if you're interested, please be patient and stay tuned. We’ll keep you posted 😉 ➡️ Follow this and other future projects on Instagram: @greenkeepersleipzig Week 1 – Germination Each seedling was assigned a position and ID for internal tracking. Tagging and documentation were completed during this first week. Seeds were placed directly into Eazy Plugs, pre-soaked with osmosis water adjusted to pH 5.6, with no nutrients added at this stage. After germination, the first watering was done using a light nutrient solution: Advanced Nutrients – Cultivator Series (Base & Grow) EC: 0.9 pH: 5.7 Out of 110 seeds, 106 germinated successfully. We think the 44W LED lights under which the seedlings were placed weren't strong enough — or were positioned too high — resulting in stretching during early germination. We decided to place them under stronger lights to avoid further stretch.

greenkeepers 🍧 Pink Gelato – Week 2: Selection Begins Selection week for Pink Gelato went smoothly. From 106 seedlings, we selected 33 individuals, 2 of which were tagged as control plants to serve as a comparison benchmark. Macro photography on day 5 and day 8 post-germination allowed us to analyze each seedling in detail. The target traits showed strong consistency, and the decision-making process benefited from the extra data points. Following the selection, all plants were repotted into 1L pots, and nourished with a solution of Base & Grow from Advanced Nutrients Cultivator Series and Voodoo Juice Plus Tablets, mixed with RO water, pH 5.9, and EC 1.4. By the end of the week, roots were emerging from the bottom of the pots — a strong indication that our dry-back strategy is promoting solid root structure early on. Environmental conditions have been ideal: cooler post-summer air has helped us hold temperatures around 28°C. Humidity is stable at 68% RH thanks to the Pure Fogger, and airflow is handled by Pro-Vent fans across the grow room. Under these settings, our VPD sits at roughly 1.0 kPa, perfect for early vegetative growth — and Pink Gelato is thriving.

greenkeepers Week 3 – Pink Gelato – Root Rush, Final Cut & Ready for the Flip 🍨 From the original 130 plants, 18 Pink Gelato made the cut for the main room — the best 16 looking ones plus 2 control plants. A total of 48 plants were moved to another room to flower there as well, and the rest that didn’t make it into either room were removed so we can focus on the top performers. After transplanting into 7 L pots, Pink Gelato settled in quickly, with fresh white roots reaching the bottom within days. Structure is upright with slightly longer internodes compared to Apple Fritter, making canopy management straightforward. Nutrients were increased to EC 2.0 with Cultivator Series base and grow, along with Voodoo Juice to strengthen the root system. Foliar feeding has kept foliage healthy and productive. This week, we also introduced beneficial insects — Amblyseius cucumeris and Amblyseius californicus — as a preventive measure against thrips and other potential pests. The flip to flower in Week 4 will help keep Pink Gelato compact, ensuring enough space and light for every plant.

This is seriously exciting stuff—548 seeds, four killer cultivars, and a pheno hunt with real scale and science behind it?Can’t wait to see which phenos rise to the top. That internal selection method sounds like a game-changer too—mad respect for combining community, data, and dank genetics. I’ll definitely be following along to see how this all plays out

Good luck with this is an interesting and exciting project. What are you looking for in phenos for these strains? 💚💫

@Natrona, Thank you so much ☺️ We’re looking mostly for resin production, structure, vigor, smell, looks, yield, and stress resistance in its very best combination if possible here. It’s going to be an exiting journey

Of them all I think this is the one I am most interested to see the phenotypes of. I think you might end up with some really special plants here. Good luck!

@UnorthadoxDude, we‘re hoping for 72 resin dripping monsters that make us stick to the floor. 😅 Its going to be exiting to see the results of the early selection approach, which was also a little bit of a pain to get rid of so many plants. Tbh. We set up an additional space in a tent to save 48 more babies and sent them into bloom. Here we try to compare also the effects two different environments and spectrums whilst sustaining a higher plant count 😊

Sounds like the Pink Gelato just got their VIP room upgrade — only the crème de la crème made it past security, got a root spa treatment, a gourmet feeding plan, and a personal bug bodyguard squad. Talk about living the high life before the big bloom!

@Canabisseurs, Tough descisions though. It almost felt we had to hire Mr. Sven Marquardt from Berghain himself for our door policy this time. „No maybe next time“ „you and your friends can only go to the party tent outside with the other spectrum“ „At least you get the same root spa, come on!“ „Sorry you look suspicious“ „Show me your leaves“ „Trichoderma on your feet?“
