Sorry, this journal is going to have a little less detail on the grow conditions (height accuracy on plant and size) due to me having a little less access to my computer to track it regularly.

She grew low, fat, and fast. Almost doubling in size this week. The smell of "sweet chocolate" soil and plant is present in room and hallway. Raised light a ilttle higher. She is very compact and bushy. The fan leaves are larger and fatter than she is vertical! Kind of funny

Grew up to 60CM, had to pull the main cola down at a 90 degree angle. I found 2 dead leaves at the very very bottom. All others are fine. I noticed my soil became low and compact (regular potting soil) and I filled it with cactus soil I had laying around. This caused poor drainage and "muddy" base. And the two older leaves stuck in it died off (I think she shed them for energy reasons too). I raked the soil to breathe better and added a clip fan to the bottom for air flow. She perked up instantly the next day. This was one one of the more challanging weeks. A lot of tweaks and tests. A carbon filter has been added for smell control as it leaks out of tent. Raising the LED light higher because temps got high into 30's. A lot of leaf removal because she is leafy and it blocks a lot of sites out... It all pays off, because next week is a smooth ride.

Smoother sailing. I pulled down the main cola again at a 90 degree angle and again it popped back up, very strong plant. I took off all LST now, I think she has stopped vertical growing and is focusing on hairs and buds. Even if she does grow, there is room since light at max height. It is just a waiting game. A few more leaf removal. NExt week I will take pictures with the led off. Sorry for the pics up to now.

Steady as she goes. Towards the end I had some white powder mold I mistook for droplets of water that dried up. The powder was odd, not sure if it is official white mold, but it spread and has that "stain" look like dried water, some times gets a "powdery" like chalk, that just falls off... I washed it all off with a rag and soap and water (organic olive based soap). I took off 2 or 3 more yellowed and dying leaves. All from bottom, and all have signs of a little chewing. I really think my problems came from lasts week over water and stagnant air that attracted gnats and created PH inbalances. I need to invest in an intake fan, I used a clip fan in addition to PC fan. The flap fan circulates a little better but not good enough. In a panic I ordered Cal MAG.... I should have saved the money. Oh well, at least I have a liter now for next grow. I measured the PH run off. The first time I did this it was fine, 6PH in, 6PH out. This time, I did a 2 liters PH balanced just water flush + 1 liter light nutes, I was 6PH in, 7PH out! Ending the week with bad leaves off, washed down mold, gnat trap (tape and yellow paper) although I have not seen any bugs physically, fan coming soon, and cal mag...might have slowed her a bit, I am not seeing any sugar yet... I hope next week I see sugar on leaves.

Grow Questions

GreenGrowGreenstarted grow question 6 years ago
This is my first auto. I hear you should remove as little as possible leaves, or none at all. My plant is bushy :) Look at my week 8 here, should I , later on around two weeks before harvest, do defoilage to expose the maximum amount down the stalks? Or will that stress her out?

the auto appreciate the defoliation but not exaggerated I always remove many leaves to leave air and light ..... above all when they are beautiful full if instead the strain has little foliage I won't touch it........ in your case, looking at the picture ... just remove the low ones that take little or no light.......nice plant!!

What a mess. I MAde Three major mistakes: (***UPDATE!**** The remedie I applied is working for now. She seems to be bouncing back just fine.) 1) I started this grow i basic potting soil thinking it could hold me over. I only had like 5% ratio of perlite, and thought it would be no problem. Going into week 8 the soil was very compact, and "low", so I added cactus soil as topper and some argile balls .... it did nothing but suffocate and cake up the watering. 2) I over watered due to new soil, and I noticed, too late, I have been a 1.5 liter watering can, I thought it was just 1 liter, so I have been giving 4.5 liters of water, that was getting too much and I was doing it every three days. My PH in was 6.5 and out 7.5! 3) I am stuck between a giant armoir and a wall. So air flow is restricted to one exhaust out the top, with a fan pulling 194 M3, and two hole flaps open at the bottom, the fan is too weak to create passive intake, so I stuck a old clip fan on the bottom hole like an intake, saved me a little bit , but she suffered a good week. Results: I lost at least 20 leaves. They all turned yellow FAST and had a burned look to them, some had munched holes from gnats. No doubt the wet soil no air caused some fungus gnats (although I have visually seen nothing). The roots suffered over watering and probably have a mild case of root rot... The flowers and upper plant had a white mold like substance going on (VERY mild, and soap and water and air made it better)... Every day this week I thought of tossing and starting over, but her flowers are still very "lively looking". I ordered Cal mag and removed all the top layer of dirt and raked it for air intake. The cal mag took a week, so I added egg shell and broth to do a quick calcium fix, not sure if it helped...The Cal Mag it just got here. I have not fed for four days to let the bottom soil recover, but every day 2 leaves at least turn yellow fast. So finally, I got a the CORRECT soil and a bag of perlite, did a good mix, used it as top soil, did just ONE bottle of grow nutes, organic PH down, and Cal MAG. Now I wait, the flowers should have been fattening up and smelling good, now they are kind of "stuck" in last week looking mode. The only positive thing is they are a LITTLE but bigger, and have put out aLITTLE bit of sugar on the leaves and buds. The smell is odd, like sweet bubble gum mixed with rotten egg, it could be because of my egg shells and it's struggling to produce sweet terpenes.... That said, I sniffed the soil for rot, I smell nothing, not even soil smell...just neutral nothing smell. I think the stupid generic potting soil I used is fully depeleted... I forsee Three things: A) This CAL MAG top soil treatment will work, and I will bounce back but a week or two delayed. B) This is the biggest the flowers will get, and the treatment works, and I just harvest a lower than perceieved bud and less quality. C) She continues to turn yellow leaves and dies so I try again. I have hope... Again, I like how the upper part of the plant looks and she is bandaided up. This is where I pray to Weesus and hope the plants resiliance and this genetics pulls me through! I have learned I will never use the wrong soil AGAIN! (***UPDATE!**** The remedie I applied is working for now. She seems to be bouncing back just fine.)

No more yellowing leaves this week. I think she is going to bounce back ok. There were a few "damaged" leaves from the last two weeks ravage. I sat down and hand washed every leaf that looked to have been effected. Over all she is green and perky top to mid with just a few stems and leaves droopy from revovery. I gave a little more nutes and cal mag this round. I only gave 1 liter 3 days ago. Now I gave 2.5. She looks a little more filled in the flowers and a lot more sugar than before. I am for sure "late" now, but better late than never? XD I can see (and you too if you look close) the hairs starting to curl in a bit and turn orange)

I get about 2-5 dead leaves per day. They all go yellow, curl in, and fall off. I think she is sucking the maximum amount of energy out of the reserves since chop time seems soon. I am happy with the nugs and would be fine if I had to cut now...but seeing that the hairs are mostly white, I will wait for more orange to come in. All my trichome pics show cloudy triches, a few amber ones. I think another week should get her more powdery and more mature. Earliset go time, end of this weekend...latest, another 2 weeks. I think I only have 2 weeks untill all the leaves dead any ways .. it is hard to tell because I see some of other bubble kush grows with dominante white hair final product... what do you guys think? Chop in a few days or wait for more orange?

Happy Harvest Day!

This is again, my first auto. I enjoyed growing it and watching it's development. I started of with regular potting soil, ran into some problems, bounced slightly back, and was in a spin of losing 4 leaves a day. Not sure what I had in the end as a problem since I had no more gnats, regulated nutes, and good temps with ventilation... maybe the auto's die off that fast near the end? I don't know, but I am looking forward to my next Auto. But now when I see noobies asking on forums: "Hey all any tips, just planting an auto cuz it's easier..."... no, it can be harder with a shorter window to respond to problems. It was for sure a little more tedius grow than my last one...and I had less to work with in last grow. Thanks to RQS genetics for giving me a seed that was resisting my errors yet again, and netting me out on over 140Gr of bud.

I am happy with this plant and the final result. The high is a little less trippy and more body and muscle relax. I do get munchies. I decent stone with a not too much cerebral. when I take it in day, I am mellow and calm enough yet focused enough to work. It won't knock you out unless you smoke heavily in the morning. And it will knock you out before bed . Compared to Blue Mystic, my first Regular fem seed, I prefer Blue mystic. Blue mystic not only gave me the Indica relaxation as this one, but it was a little more cerebral. A little better balance. I won't be buying this one for any particular reason again, but I have a few seeds left and I would like to regrow it some time. But as a second pot in a scrog, not a main grow. I plan on LSD from Barney seeds in my next grow in July, 2019.

@UnkleSkunk, Thanks for the info. I looked up the strain. Looks tasty! Although, I am looking for some effects a little different this time (more head like), but I for sure want to keep the indica effects for my bad back (helps a lot).

@@GreenGrowGreen, there are so many strains it's like a gold rush in the cannabis culture right now it's hard to follow all these strains coming out. What's nice about having all these new hybrid strains is you can really target the ratio you want, for instance if you go on the breeders website you can have a look to see the lineage and the ratio spread between Indica and Sativa. It's a personal preference and I'm not the most experienced to give you advice. It's up to you to really discover what works for you. Strawberry Lemonade is a 30-70 or 40-60 Indica to Sativa which is what I like but yet again you can read into the terpene profiles of the plants which also have certain affects on the buzz you are looking for. I.E Limonene (terpene) is known for Elevated mood, Stress relief, Antifungal properties, Antibacterial properties, May help relieve heartburn and gastric reflux, Improves absorption of other terpenes.... Ref: https://www.leafly.com/news/cannabis-101/what-is-limonene-and-what-are-the-benefits-of-this-cannabis-terpe

@GreenHouseLab, Agreed. I am going to follow your journals. I want to try and grow more sativa domimnant strains. I am new to growing and just learning what all these strains do. Before, I was in California pre legalization days, and we just smoked whatever we could get our hands on, no one took time to know strains. I remember a lot of whisppy orange and white haired nugs from local growers. And the amazing highs of getting absollutely lost in movies, or making music sound amazing. Or walking through my own garden totally lost like: "under that tarp, is a small dinosaur land"....I would feel warm and relaxed inside. That is what I am looking for. I would guess more sativa dominant hybrids. There was strains that made my heart feel that deep loss of time, but also my heart feel rapid, and sketched out. I want to avoid that... So I avoid strains that say "energetic". But I love time loss, that brings you in and out in a giggly sense... You know any recomendations? My next grow is targeted for July, and so far I am just planning on LSD from Barney seeds
