Borberad 🌸 Apple Blossom Grow-Journal
Our journey with the Apple Blossom from Humboldt Seed Company. According to the breeder, we can expect a photoperiod hybrid lady (50% Indica / 50% Sativa), bred from Blueberry Muffin × Dream Queen. Sounds like a mix of dessert and daydream – definitely a strain that whets the appetite just by reading about it.
Apple Blossom is said to not only bloom beautifully but also quickly: about 45 days of flowering time indoors, which is almost like speed dating in cannabis cultivation. Outdoors, it’s harvest time from mid to late September – just before the autumn rains want to hit the buds.
The genetics pack a punch: 26–30% THC – definitely not something for a “quick breakfast” hit. More for creative sessions or after work when you feel like letting your thoughts wander without immediately merging with the couch.
As for the scent: Humboldt describes it as “apple blossom in the garden with a hint of citrus, vanilla, and pine.” So basically like a stroll through grandma’s orchard, only grandma is secretly holding a vaporizer.
Regarding growth: Growers report that Apple Blossom is quite straightforward – robust against mold, bushy, with a good mix of stretch and structure. Indoors, you can expect 500–650 g/m², and outdoors even up to 700 g per plant. Sounds like a candidate for well-filled jars.
👉 Conclusion for the Diary:
We’re dealing with a plant that is scientifically exciting (THC power, fast growth, stable genetics) and at the same time wonderfully practical for everyday use (straightforward, aromatic, high-yielding). Now it’s time to turn on the lights, prepare the substrate – and see if this lady lives up to what Humboldt Seed promises.
Week 1:
Germination Week 0.1
The germination of the Apple Blossom has begun.
* Day 0.1: After soaking for 10 hours in 1% H₂O₂, it’s time for germination and the first weeks in an Easys Plug.
* Day 0.2: The first patience phase begins. We’re waiting for the seed to break its shell.
* Day 0.3: The first signs of life are visible. The seed is lifting out of the substrate. We then increased the DLI from about 12 to 16 to give the seedling enough light as it unfolds its cotyledons.
* Day 0.4: The plant has lifted out of the plug! The seed was probably not placed deep enough. To avoid damaging the root, the seedling along with the plug was placed in a 400ml pot.
* Day 0.5: We slightly opened the cover to lower the relative humidity to about 80% and increased the light intensity to 20 DLI.
* Day 0.6: Everything is under control. The plant shows vigorous growth.
* Day 0.7: The light dome has been removed. The relative humidity is now dropping to 60–65%, which encourages the plant to build a strong root system.
* Fertilization & Measurements: No fertilizer or water needed.

Borberad Week 2:
Apple Blossom has successfully completed its germination week. Our care during potting, after the little issue with the Easy Plug, has led to a healthy little plum that can now start the vegetative phase. We will increase the DLI to 30 by the end of the week. The first 2 nodes have already grown at the beginning of the week. As soon as the substrate starts to dry out, we will give water for the first time with 2ml/l Calmag and 2.5ml/l Hesi Root, possibly 2ml Hesi TNT until the soil is sufficiently moist again.
* Plant condition: The plant is vigorous and has unfolded its first leaves. The stem is strong and compact.
* Important events: Healthy growth, beginning of watering with light additives. Further increasing the DLI to 30 by the end of the week.
* Fertilization & measurements: Osmosis water 20 Micro Siemens fortified with Xpert Nutrients Calmag 2ml/L and 2.5ml/L Hesi Root, possibly 2ml Hesi TNT, conductivity approx.

The first side shoots are forming and the plant has grown healthy and sturdy; it now has 4 nodes. Since it has already outgrown its pot, it might be time to repot soon. (It was time on day 14). This week, for the first time, I'm using the standard nutrient dose, adjusted to the plant's needs: 2.5 - 5ml Hesi TNT for proper nutrients during growth, 5 ml/l Hesi Root for strong root development, and 2 ml/l Calmag to harden our osmosis water. The DLI was increased to 40 over the course of the week.
* Plant condition: The first "true" leaves are fully developed and side shoots are forming.
* Important events: Start of nutrient feeding. Increase of DLI. Repotting into a 3l fabric pot on day 14.
* Nutrients & measurements:
* Watering: pH about 6.0. EC about 1.4 mS.
* Drain: We measure sporadically to maintain the deviation of +/- 500 mS.

Borberad Week 4: Getting used to the new home.
With the start of the third week, the little flower reaches an important development phase. After the plants have survived the transplant stress, they receive a topping, leaving 6 strong shoots for the upcoming training and 2 (the lowest ones) can be taken for possible cuttings. The substrate in the 3L fabric pot is now supplied daily with about 1 liter of nutrient water. The nutrient plan for this week includes 2.5-5 ml/l Hesi Root, 2 ml/l Calmag, and 2.5 ml/l Hesi TNT, with the TNT dose being increased to 5 ml/l if needed.
* Plant condition: The plant is robust and shows strong growth.
* Important events: Topping is coming up.

The big event is approaching! The light cycle was switched to 12/12 four days ago. To make the transition stress-free, we've reduced the DLI to 30. The feeding schedule changes to 5 ml/l Hesi Bloom, 2 ml/l Hesi Boost (once a week), 1 ml/l Plagron Greensensation (once a week), and 2 ml/l Calmag.

* Important Events: Change of the light cycle. Reduction of the DLI.

Sehr einfach zu pflegende Pflanze mit moderatem Längenzuwachs in der Blütephase. Der Duft und die Trichomedichte zum Ende der Blüte sind unglaublich.

Borberad Great plant that has caused no problems at all. With a relative humidity of 35-40%, partly out of fear of mold, there was some powdery mildew found on a few sun sails, but regular leaf removal took care of it, so no big deal.
I haven't grown any apple strains yet, though they are high on my to-do list.
This one looks very very frosty in week ten, good luck with the rest of th8e grow!
