Hello fellow growers, welcome to my 2nd grow! This will be outdoor, and my intention is to plant directly into soil amended with manure from my horses and maybe other stuff, have to do some research on quantities etc So i guess you could call it an organic grow :) They were germinated in damp paper and planted into the only pots i could find haha this week started good with sun but there hase been a lot of clound and some rain as of late, i think they will soldier on though.

This week was interesting, as I clumsely dropped the tallest pot which had the plant that untill now had started off strongest. You can now see how its the shorter one of the 3 becasue of the shock that it must have been. Was worried she may no survive but they are resiliant little plants these! They are doing well for the moment.

Bad news this week! SPIDER MITES! Noticed some small holes in the leaves where they had eaten the chlorophyl/sap and checked underneath the leaves ,sure enough to find some little insects not lany, luckily. popped one under the microscope and it sure looks like a spider mite to me! Have started treating with a soap+ neam oil + warm water spray every 3 days, lets see how it goes!

I havnt had much time to add to the dairy as im away from home for my education (i have finals these weeks) so i'm not really avialable to take care of the poor girls, thankfully i will be done in a couple of weeks and will be here full time to take good care of them! They're just growing into their 6th node atm and im thinking of trying topping on 1 or 2 of them, a little experiment, as last year i just let them grow and didnt do any training/defoliation, etc. Thoughts? :) Also bugs are a bitch, but thats the thing about outdoors, hoping to get on top of them, a part from the smaller plant they dont seem to be doing to much harm so the neem+soap+eco insecticde must be doing something :D Do you guys think i should transplant them to a bigger pot now, im planning on planting straight into soil but probably wont be able to do that for another 3-4 weeks. Thanks!

So after updating last week i transplanted the plants into bigger pots as advised (thanks) but since then the top leaves have started to curl, i have read online that it could be an excess of nitrogen but also that there are a lot of different reasons, can anyone see what the problem might be? Thanks to all :D UPDATE i decided to flush the plants to see if that will help with the curling/clawing After that i decided that i will TOP one plant and FIM the other, it may not be the best idea as some growers have mentioned but i want the first hand experience of these techniques to know how it actually affects the plants and compare, so we could say its for educational purposes. I will also be trying LST by tying them not sure with what yet.

Still have some leave curling. Not much growth from the plants that were topped and Fim'd. Not sure if anyone can tell if they look properly topped/Fim'd The LST seems to be working well, unsure what to do now haha do I bend it again? Fun times :')

So when i came back from a week long trip i found these changes: 1. Topping was a succes 2. FIM was not at all a success, i literrally *missed* the Fuck I Missed, as i believe i only cut the leaves. So i decided to go at it again on the new node FIM2.0 lets see if this time it works, i used sicors and cut at a 45 degree angle as i saw on a few different places, so hopefully this time it will work. 3. My LST only plant had jumped right back up! And has grewn considerably strong and taller in just one week after transplant to a nice big pot. haha my bad for not using propper gear, i think when she got watered the metl used to hold it down wich was just put in the soil came loose, so she sprung right back up. I have now tied her down using propper material and also tied down the other two. ALSO this week i will have finished finally my vegetable garden so by next week the two small potted ones will go straight into some lovely amended soil.

Okay now we're in business! I have finished my vegetable plot and planted 2 plants, who are going in with some cherry tomato friends :) In the future i will be adding companion plants, just need to get them this week coming. I will also be trying to come up with a new way to LST now that they're in the ground ( any recomendations welcome hehe) And finally, the FIM was a success this time, with 3 new cola growths from where i cut. The topped plant is looking good and bushing out thanks to the LST i did while she was in the pot. My other LST plant that will remain in the pot I have tied down more branches as she is getting preeetty big! But i have seen a lot if ants on this one, does anyone know if this is bad?

So all was going so very well this week, the potted plant is thriving, the in-soil ones were recovering from transplant and beginning to grow well... and then i broke the stem from the topped plant while trying to retie the new growth😭 I have used sellotape to stick the broken stem but i have no idea if it will work as it was literally hanging by a thread when it broke :( its not a big deal in the long run but it bums me out after the topping having gone so well and having that nice symmetric grow. Anyway, as you can see i have let up a little LST thingy for the in-soil topped plant with some canes and garden string. I will do the same for the FIM'ed plant in the next few days! I think I have found scales on my potted plant as some of you warned me with the ants, not sure if it is or not, so if you could give me a hand i have uploaded photo of the bug.

This week has been good, the plants are growing, the broken stem has repaired fine! The potted plant has started yellowing so i have begun to feed with organic nutrients. Also a lot of new growth from the topped and FIM'ed plants. Not sure what to do now, should i just let them grow or tie down more? Ah yes, also have planted marigolds, basil and parsley with the plants in the veg garden, and a little basil in the potted plant. :)

Hey guys! sorry for the delay i missed out a week, got a bit busy. So the plants are doing great! Had a little problem with one of the branches of the big ones, Wind pushed my tomato plants onto the cannabis plant and the branch snapped, so i sellotaped it back and it look to be doing nicely! the photos are from when it happened last week i forgot to take one of the branch how it is now but its doing good. A bit worried about the branches in general now because they don't have any support for when they flower, what do you recommend to do at this size of plants? Have been feeding the potted plant with veg nutes. also the smaller one in the pot has gone a bit purple on the stems, not sure if that just because of the strain or something up haha, and also begun to flower and the bigger ones are just showing preflower now. With the big plants do you recommend any sort of pruning? or just let it be?

We have Flower! The smallest is flowering well. Unfortunaltly it has also been infected with spider mites so im treating that atm :( The bigger ones are doing great, one is developing flowwers and the other is still in pre-flower, i guess because they get different amount of shade so more-less light.

(had totally forgot to change the diary form veg to flower haha) So the highlight of this week is one of the main branches of the big plant has lost nearly all its leaves... it began yellowing and i assumed that was normal for flowering/time of the year, but even its sugar leaves are beginning to yellow and fall :( I have fed it with some nutes today.. the weird part is that its happened only on one of the main branches, the other two are just beginning to loose leaves now :/ The plant next to it seems fine still in early stages of flower

@DinafemSeeds yes! I'm trying to be as natural as possible with this grow so yeah i would like to invite some natural predators, not sure how though. I know ladybugs are considered great for that and in some country's you can buy them online but i haven't found that where i am in Spain :/ Hopefully when i plant them in the ground with the rest of my vegetable garden a nice eco system will flourish and i will be visited by plenty natural predators! i will look into what plants atract them! Thanks Mark :)

@ghendrix, good luck with your 2nd year growing our creations outdoors mate 👍 By the look of things you've got a battle on your hands with the "borg" or as they are more commonly known "spidermites"🤨 Good luck with the bug issue buddy, best to try and get that under control as soon as possible 👍 All the best ✌️ Mark..

Gl dude! What sort of base soil did you use? I've been growing 36 random seeds (first grow) outdoor for about 7-8 months, 24 turned out female (20/24 plants harvested, 4 large females to go), 1 male still alive, some in pots, some in soil and experienced many different pests/problems/extreme conditions (though not extreme cold). I might be able to give you a few hints, depending, since I made a lot of mistakes too. In vegetation, a mix of lots of rain and sun seems great, like tropical conditions (from what happened to my plants). Late in flowering, you definitely don't want a lack of sun, coldish and humid conditions.

@ghendrix, I dunno what most people do, sorry I can't say. Yeah, continuous topping will restrict height but make them bushy/dense.
ghendrix
ghendrixcommented6 years ago
@@Ssomeguy, thanks man! yeah most of this I have already done! Topped, fimmed and put 2 plants in soil and another opne in a 50L ish pot :D Just one question, do most people after topping / fimming continue to top/fim the new growth as well? i imagine it would make them very bushy and wide and tyhey wouldnt grow so tall if doing that?
Ssomeguy
Ssomeguycommented6 years ago
@ghendrix, Oh sorry, I never noticed this reply. Lots of stuff to consider. Well, the difference between fimming and topping is not only plant stress but also, how do I say, subdivision. A topping gives you 2 stems, a fim can give you like, up to 6 stems (from what I've seen/experienced/read) and it's far less stressful for the plants, but it's a bit more tricky. Pinch method works best imo. But don't take my word for it. Yeah of course transplanting something in like a 50l pot to soil is gonna be somewhat problematic. But to be fair, with a good 50l pot, you could get 3m+ plants without transplanting to soil. If you're planning to put into soil at some point, shove them into the soil; as soon as you can. I realize some of this may not be relevant to you now, in retrospect or whatever, but I'm commenting for reference.

Whatup. Yeah, watch the ants, they farm (and protect) gnats, aphids and other pests. I've seen this shit before, check (firstly) your plants for scales and aphids. Aphids on the underside of leaves , scales normally on stems, though either would infest any part of the plant if it gets bad. Hope you don't have those issues, but ants are like that. Good luck dude!
ghendrix
ghendrixcommented6 years ago
@@Ssomeguy,ill keep a close look then!
Ssomeguy
Ssomeguycommented6 years ago
@ghendrix, Ants aren't always bad, they're a good indication of good conditions/soil, etc. Some kinds of ants are actually beneficial, like they'll farm shit, but they'll also eat that shit (keeping it in check). It's very tricky, but if you do see scales, gnats, aphids and stuff with lots of ants around...fuckem. They will attract predators though, and I've been thinking about that, like setting up sort of decoy plants totally infested with various pests, simply to attract predators. Like, bait and switch.
