Germination

TangerineDre4m Planted my 4 seeds directly into their final 20L containers. The containers are filled with the amended soil with a hole in the middle that was filled with non-amended soil. Planted the seeds in here to prevent contact with the 'hot' amended medium. All 4 seeds germinated and came above ground after 72 hours.

TangerineDre4m It's been about 10 days since germination and the girls now look like they are honing in on week 1 veg. One of the girls has some stunted leaf growth and is lagging behind a bit. She's a keeper all the same! Looking forward to seeing where she ends up. So far, only water has been added to the pots. Currently still running the lights 24/7 until my heater arrives (probably next week). Planning to switch to 18/6 after that. Growth is really starting to take off now, which is lovely to see 🙏 I made this update a bit earlier because what I'm worried about is the light green markings on the leaves. I have seen no sign of insects, so not sure what it is. So far it doesn't seem to impact growth. Not sure if the stunted growth on one plant is at all related to the spots. My internet searches don't really give me a good answer. Does anyone know what this could be?

TangerineDre4m The plants are about 16 days old now. They are all growing really well, super happy with how they are looking. Even the runt is starting to grow out of it a little. I probably won't be training her at all, looking forward to seeing where she ends up 🙌. I have started LST on the biggest of the bunch. I think I will wait with the other two until tomorrow or the day after. They are just a tad too squat to confidently bend right now. In general I find that all the plants are pretty squat with tight nodes. Could be an indication of some big girls. Watering has been around 300ml every 48 to 60 hours, depending on how quick the dryback is. Update: Got stakes instead of wire for LST. They seemed a lot easier and safer to work with than the wire I had. Got excited and did the LST.

TangerineDre4m We are at the end of week 3 veg at day 21. One of the girls started showing pistils 2 days ago. Pre-flower is close. 🙌 The girls are responding well to LST it seems, they are getting quite bushy. Also, the stretch has noticably started which is exiciting to see! Since my soil mix was missing a source of Mg, I added a snuff of epsom salt into the last watering. Will probably keep doing this every 3rd watering or so. Update: Plants have grown nicely over the past couple of days. Watering has been increased to 1L. LST is nearing the end. The plants are compact and bushy, with a pretty even canopy. Really seeing the nodes elongate now, especially those that are receiving a lot of light. It's a really cool process to experience. 🙌

TangerineDre4m Day 28 The girls are doing well. All except for one are showing pistils. I have basically finished LST and am pretty happy with the shape. Lets see what it's gonna look like once the stretch sets in 😄. I had some light stress 2 days ago due to incorrect calculations. That was a good learning moment. 🙏 I think I caught it in time though. Once the plants have stretched a bit, I am planning on top dressing with fresh vermicompost. Update: Day 32: Plants are stretching well! It's interesting to see that they all seem to be in different stages of flower at the moment. Plant 1 has a lot of pistils already, and started showing them around day 18. Plant 2 is also showing more pistils but started showing them much later, around day 24. Also started showing shiny leaves and clawing on one specific branch. Maybe a hotspot in the light? I turned that branch around so its getting a little less light. Lets see. Plant 3 is not showing any pistils yet, so I'm guessing she is still in veg or just about to transition. Stunty is showing pistils as well. She is starting to look pretty big. Her main stem is growing a bit slower than the side branches, so shes now got 6 branches at the same canopy level. Basically trained herself, how cool.

TangerineDre4m Day 35 The plants have grown significantly since the last update. The top left one finally started showing pistils today. All plants are developing well. I'm guessing they are now about half-way the stretch. It will be interesting to see how the different phenos end up in height and flowering time/synchronicity. Moved up to giving 1,5L of water every 3 days. I will probably move to 2L after the next watering, as the soil is drying up within ~2 days. I added some fresh worm-tea and a pinch of epsom salt to the last watering. After the stretch end, I am planning on doing a bit of defoliation and lollipopping. I will add my vermicompost then as well. 💩 I have been finicking with the light a little, since I was getting hot spots. Due to this, DLI was around 32 on average this week. I have now moved the light higher and turned the dimmer up. After measuring, I seem to get a more even DLI distribution without the previous hot spots. Overall, all plants are looking really beautiful and healthy. I feel hopeful about a decent harvest. 🙌🙏 Update: Day 38 and I did some lollipopping and defoliation. The tent was getting so bushy, it was hard getting humdity down even with the dehume running constantly. Feels like there is a lot more breathing room in the tent. A lot more budsites got exposed and are catching up to the top of the canopy. So far, it's still pretty even with all plants being ~40cm across the canopy. The soil was pretty dry and the leaves felt a little limp and looked on the edge of drooping. I watered with 2L of 50% rainwater and 50% tapwater (as always) with about 100ml of worm-tea (1/12 ratio) about 4 hours after lollipopping/defoliation.

TangerineDre4m Day 42 Plants are growing well! The flowering has been a bit staggered, with plant 3 being about a week behind plant 1 in terms of flower I think. The other two are somewhere in between. Did some light pruning here and there over the days when I found leaves I couldn't tuck. Also removed a couple of small branches that I probably missed during lollipopping. Plant 1 is now starting to stack hard. She has a nice structure. Her main cola is looking to be a monster, with tight internodes and many bud sites. She has a good amount of medium-large sized side branches. Plant 2 has really started filling in her flowers over the past few days. She is looking super bushy, with numerous medium-sized colas. Plant 3 is very vigorous. She is the latest to go into flower, but pistils are increasing daily and growth tips have changed. It looks like this plant is going to be somewhere in between plant 1 and 2 in terms of structure. It has a lot of medium and medium-large sized colas and 3 big ones. Stunty surprised me a lot. She was so far behind a couple of weeks ago but has proven to be very vigorous as well. She slowed her main top growth a lot and now has 10 huge side branches. She basically took a natural umbrella shape. Can't wait to see how she looks into flower. Watering has been the usual 50/50 tap and rain water. Increased to 2,5L as of today. Watering with 2L got leaves drooping after 36 hours already.

TangerineDre4m Day 49 All plants are still doing great. The time has arrived where I can sit back and watch the buds stack and swell. The first light aromas are starting to fill the tent and some tops are getting frosty. Many of you might not find this super exciting anymore, but for me it feels like magic being able to watch my own flower grow. This week I watered 2,5L twice. The first watering had some Epsom salt and compost tea. I will probably have to water again today. If so, I am planning on adding a layer of fresh vermicompost to all plants. This will boost some nutrients and also accelerate soil life in this nutrient-heavy growth phase. Plus I will have a good reason to use my pet's poop for a greater purpose 😜 Two days ago we did our last major defoliation, as you can probably tell by the thick mulch of leaves. I actually wanted to do it this weekend, but the canopy was pretty crowded and humidity was starting to get difficult to deal with. This definitely stabilised it a bit. Apart from defol, we also took a lot of larf and a couple of smaller branches that I missed during the lollipopping. We also rearranged the tent to get a better fit. I also raised plants 1 and 2 a bit to a more equal canopy and better DLI. This really made a big difference I feel like. The tent just looks a lot better now, with each plant having more space and not competing with the others for light. It was really interesting to see the plants react to the defol. Basically all of them showed a lot more growth accross top/bud development. It really seemed like the energy all got redirected. Plant 1 is getting frosty buds and is the first to start putting out a citrusy aroma. She is really swelling now, and her branches are starting to turn into one big bud. Especially the day after we did de defol, she got a lot frostier and smellier. Plant 2 is also well on her way to becoming frosty. She is probably 3-4 days behind plant 1. Plant 3 is finally really starting to show much more developed flower sites. Vertical growth has almost completely stopped (finally). Just in time, as the height difference would be getting significant otherwise. This plant is so vigorous, I'm really curious what she is gonna do over the next weeks. Stunty is now into full flower production and is going pretty fast. It does seem like it is catching up a bit in timing with plants 1 and 2. This plant has a special place in my heart. Just goes to show what happens if you give someone/something a chance to do things their own way on their own timeline. Next week fat frosty budz 😻

TangerineDre4m Day 56 The plants are now all in or past the stacking phase, which is good to see. I'm not sure how much behind plant 3 and stunty are, but I'm guessing something like 2 weeks. Overall it's looking promising. The buds are developing nicely and are getting frostier every day. After touching the buds, it leaves a distinct citrusy bergamoth smell. Very pleasant. I feel like over the coming week the real smell will kick in. Still on the 50/50 tap and rain water shedule, watering 2,5L every 48 hours. Plant 3 is getting a little more since she her leaves were drooping well before the others. I noticed some interveinal yellow discoloration on plant 1's top leaves. To me this looked like a slight/starting Mg deficiency. I have been using Epsom salt every 2nd/3rd watering in small amounts. Apparently this wasn't sufficient. I added 2g to each watering to hopefully stop progression in plant 1 and prevent it in the others. I'll see how this progresses and will keep adding some epsom to every 2nd watering. We are entering the final stretch for plant 1 it looks like. Thanks for checking in. Cheers and happy growing 🙌
