Yesterday I transplanted to the final pot, the root development bursting out from the base is spectacular... the big game begins! 😁 I'm going to grow the eight plants this season in 7-liter pots from the old school. This time I've made a substrate mix consisting of a base substrate based on peat with low nutrient load (5 parts of 12), to this base I've added one part of homemade mature bokashi, another part of worm humus, I've also added one part of algae bokashi (very special), another of rice husk which I use instead of perlite, and two parts of coconut fiber previously inoculated with Mountain Microorganisms, mixed with Biochar and rice husk charcoal. I've also added one part of Zeolite and Vermiculite, and finally rock powder at a rate of 1 gram per liter of soil: Montmorillonite, Kaolin, Pumice, Green and Brown Clay, Leonardite, Phosphate Rock, Diatomaceous Earth, Dolomite, and Azomite. With this mix, I ensure a very aerated substrate that will favor root expansion, there is also the presence of all the minerals from the periodic table, humins, etc., and enough nutrients for 5 weeks, after this time I will start nutrition with my homemade soluble Bio Fertilizers. Once the seedling is settled in the pot, I watered with an acidic mix (PH: 6.2) of spring water, Activated Mountain Microorganisms (MMA) in liquid form, and molasses, I applied 30% of this mix at the base of the pot and the rest on top. With this technique, I do a massive inoculation of microorganisms in the substrate so they start working to break down, dissolve, and make available to the plant the nutrients and minerals present in the substrate. The plant has doubled in size, the water consumption is on the rise... nothing can go wrong! 😁 For now, I light it for 21 hours and water it exclusively with spring water, molasses, and Activated Mountain Microorganisms in liquid form, along with a bit of leonardite humate (humic acids). This way, I massively inoculate microbiology and promote the microbial ecosystem, so it can solubilize the nutrients and minerals from the substrate. At the same time, I’m not forcing the plant to feed on soluble Bio Nutrients, which also facilitates root expansion in the pot. This week the plant has grown in height and width, it's beautiful; the watering consumption has doubled... nothing can go wrong! 😁 Still, the plant is growing very compact and healthy, with the largest leaves in the garden. For now, I continue with gentle watering while the plant mainly feeds on the nutrients and minerals from the substrate. This week, due to the increase in the growing area, I added a 7700K side panel. My rebellious garden is in full spring, in the middle of autumn, with lots of white and blue light. The plant keeps progressing, the two upper branches are taking too much spotlight, maybe I need to add more light above this plant. A couple of days ago, I tried to tie down these two branches, and what I ended up doing was breaking both branches at the joint connecting them to the trunk. I immediately fixed them with adhesive tape; I think they'll pull through since, for now, there are no signs of dehydration, the sap is still flowing. Well, in the end, it's like breaking a bone; with a good fix, they end up healing. 👊 Today, I finish the vegetative growth period for the entire garden. Tonight, I change the light schedule from 20/4 hours to 12/12 hours. For now, I’ll keep the same type of lights as in vegetative growth to slow down the last vertical stretch that will occur due to the schedule change. A multitude of white and blue lamps will illuminate every corner until the plants complete the final stretch, then I’ll change the entire color spectrum and intensity scheme and switch directly to summer lights: yellows, oranges, reds, IR... etc. 😍 😁 UNTIL NEXT TIME. Five weeks since the topping, seven weeks since transplanting to the final pot, and one week since the schedule change, now 12/12H. The plant is holding up well, it has stretched quite a bit this week, but I trust I will fill its long branches with buds. This season I have been using, so far, a collection of cheap lamps, with good and varied spectra, but I think it's time to replace several with much more intense and penetrating LED panels. I'm going to keep only the 3 blue COBs at 450nm for this week, which I hope will be the last where the plants stretch, and this light should slow down vertical stretching a bit. Yesterday, I made the second and last addition of the dry amendment mix for vegetative growth. From now on, I will prepare another mix for flowering, with guanos and bones dominating the mix, replacing the feathers, blood, and others that I used in this stage. With the schedule change and the drop in temperatures, the plants are consuming less watering, but the rate is good. The temperatures have remained high, the plant consumes a lot of water and nutrients... nothing can go wrong! At the beginning of the week, I made an important change to the tent lights; I disconnected several cheap panels of: 7700K, 6500K, and 3000K, which consumed 130w, and in exchange, I connected two 100w panels in the canopy, both with good spectrum and penetration. Additionally, I arranged the 3 COBs with blue light (450nm); I will keep these lamps until the plants stop stretching. deFharo Welcome, marijuana growers! 🖐️ 👨‍🌾 - It's been eleven weeks since I put the seed to germinate! 🌱 - Seven weeks since the apical cut - Nine weeks since the transplant to the final pot. - Three weeks since switching to flowering schedule at 12/12H. - Four days since I replaced the last four spring lamps (450nm and FS) with yellow, orange, and red ones (3000K, 2700K, 1800K, 660nm, IR), my rebellious garden is in full summer! - Three days ago I made the first application of dry amendments, with a special mix for flowering, meals, guanos, minerals, organic raw materials for the life in the substrate to solubilize for the plant... nothing can go wrong! 👊 Well, this plant decided that the three huge central branches will show all their power, the plant has continued with enormous growth, 10 cm this week, it's competing with the tallest plants, now I trust in filling those branches with monstrous buds. I keep the plant well-lit, but being so tall the canopy lights don’t penetrate enough, so a couple of days ago I placed a side LED panel of 3000K and 43w consumption right behind this plant and aimed at the center of the branches to promote good buds at that height. Other than that, the plant is bursting with health, and good water consumption despite the big drop in temperatures... the summer garden is happy with the low autumn temperatures. Also, from now on, I’m changing the type of soluble feeding for my entire garden, during the vegetative growth I’ve let the plants feed basically from the substrate, I’ve added microbiology massively, and bio-nutrients composed of vitamins, hormones, and some minerals, always in small doses, at the end of the stage I add some bio-nutrients with nitrogen or amino acids to the watering mixes, the plants in vegetative growth don’t need a wide variety of nutrients, just the right NPK, in quite a quantity, but now in flowering this changes radically, now the variety of minerals is essential to broaden, in my case, I ensure that none of the elements from the periodic table are missing, the plant requires them to develop all its power, the presence of these minerals favors all the action of the microbiology and the complex enzymatic processes, of course, the supply of PK is indispensable, mainly potassium... finally, what is achieved is a stimulation of the minerals represented by the developing plants. 🤓 😁 UNTIL NEXT TIME. deFharo Welcome, cannabis growers! 🖐️ 👨‍🌾 - Fifteen weeks since I put the seed to germinate! 🌱 - Thirteen weeks since the transplant to the final pot. - Eleven weeks since the apical cut. - Seven weeks since switching to flowering schedule at 12/12H. - Six weeks since flowering started... let’s play! 😋 Winter week of rain, wind, and cold, everything gray outside; inside, light, warmth, and peace. 👨‍🌾 Winter has arrived unannounced, but my rebellious garden lives in full summer, surrounded by intense lights, yellows, oranges... reds peeking over the artificial horizon, trying to imitate the August sun with dignity, but it’s just that, an imitation. ⛄ This lanky plant is fattening the main buds, while the shoots on the lower half are slower, but I hope to promote them quite a bit, let’s see if I can fill most of the long branches. I’m trying to boost the lower shoots; I have a side lamp lighting the lower half of the grow, but they are struggling to develop, the upper half of the plant is hogging all the energy... but I won’t give up, two days ago I did a foliar application on those lower branches, I used my Bio Fertilizer made from green coconut water with Effective Microorganisms, coconut water contains a multitude of minerals, vitamins, etc., and hormones: cytokinins, which are what I’m interested in now, to give a boost to those branches and lower shoots, and if they show evident growth, maybe I’ll end up harvesting the plant in two stages, first taking the upper buds and leaving half of the plant growing... all for the cause! 😍 We are in the second and final stage of flowering, although there are still important weeks left and I want the plants to continue evolving calmly, as they have so far, I don’t want to force them to eat more than their mouths can chew. There are enough nutrients and minerals in the substrate to process/decompose, since a week ago I made the last addition of dry amendments, so this week’s waterings have been mainly directed towards inoculating decomposing Microbiology, to accelerate the availability of nutrients and minerals in the substrate. Next week, I’ll prepare varied mixes with my soluble Bio Fertilizers; I prefer, both for myself and for the cannabis plants I grow, small doses of very varied foods, rather than gluts of two or three components (NPK). 🍅🍆🥒🥔🥕🍏🥗 As a curiosity, I’ve been observing for a long time that the water consumption for irrigation increases a lot when the watering mixes are milder (-EC), I weigh the pots daily and know exactly how much water the plants have consumed, this led me to reflect and change my previous growing habits, where I forced the plants to eat, and although the food I give them is always organic, the plants also get stressed, and end up showing too many signs of excess in the leaves, mainly at the end of the grow, and I don’t like it! 💦 And finally, I’ve decided to pay a fitting tribute to my clandestine garden, which only brings me joy and beautiful moments, a tribute of light energy, I’m going to give it an extra hour of light = more photosynthesis, two days ago I increased it by half an hour and in 3-4 days I’ll increase it by another half hour until I reach 13 hours of light, it’s all little for these female plants, they are happy producing flowers and more flowers for me! 🌼🌼🌼 Currently, I have a total consumption of 730w for seven plants, spread across 11 lamps, 6 in the canopy and 5 on the sides... After 3 very light waterings, without soluble nutrients, aimed at enhancing the consumption of nutrients from the substrate, I will start with mixes of my organic Bio Fertilizers, the plant is entering the last weeks of life, a time for ripening and contemplation. This season I will alternate, from now on, waterings with bio nutrients, with others only with spring water with regulated pH, so far the average pH in my watering mixes is: 6.23, my living soil likes the acidic environment... This season almost all the crops have shown growth in foxtail mode. The big difference from other years has been the increase to 13 hours of light in the last few weeks. That's probably where the mistake lies. I'm thinking about it now, of course, when it's too late, like humans do. Logically, it would have been just the opposite: start flowering with 13 hours and finish with 12, more naturally accompanying the plant's life cycle. I have nothing against foxtails, but seeing them repeated in such different crops made it clear to me something important: the plants, even at this age, still wanted to keep creating flowers. That's good. It delays senescence, maintains energy… although it also delays the maturation of the buds. Everything has its price. Even vitality. Next season I'll try again. I'll adjust the photoperiod better. I'll lower the light intensity a bit in the last weeks.
