Previously on "let mother nature do the job…part 1" (if you Don't read first Week => Thank you kindly to take notice) -------------- INTRODUCTION ---------------------- I would like to first of all specify some points : since the beginning of my diary i got some great feedbacks from a lot of growers !! thx to them for their supports ! 👏👌👊 But i had also one bad feedback ! Not really about what i said…. but more probably caused for a part by my difficulties to speak well English...which, it seems to me, limits my possibilities to make me clearly understand. 😓👍 but it is not only by my fault….Nothing is always black or full white 😉 I would also like to specify something else - i am not here as a teacher or a guy who said : hey dude !! look !! mine is biggest than your... or you're wrong / i'am right….😔 not at all !! every growers build their own philosophy... runs after runs...and what is exciting is to be able to share/compare and may be improve Something on our grows… sharing knowledge always helps to improve your own knowledge…It's a virtuous circle...that's why i'am here guys 👍👊 So help will be grealty aprreciated by any people who understand me but who also think i'm not well expressed…. feel free to contact me and explain me...so i could change the building of my sentences or grammar...or anything else ! thx !! 🙏 --------------------------------------- This being said, It's a fuc*** conjunction of coincidences that makes me landed me here….😋 ! It's my fifth life that I'm starting….. on this life 😀 It's time for me to wake up 😜 i'am 49 y old….I suffer from serious health problems...and it s also time to stop chimicals (opioids) medecine...I'm sick of this. !! So i decided to grow the best dedicated plant that i need !! but if i want the best effect i understood on my last grows that i have to improve again my protocol in order to match best resulst as possible… During the last year, I was curious about everything i can learn around weed culture but not only😛…. and because i was trying to find the best solution to improve my garden soil which is so poorly balanced because of too much clay...then suddendly i made the link…! If I were an engineer or a researcher,I would define the postulate of my research as well as the ins and outs...This makes... I'd start what's called a fundamental research…. of course it is not my case...i learnt , sometimes by chance/by my work universe, my Curiosity, when i was a studient... a lot of thing about science/techology… and if i have a good idea of the path i want to follow….that's all ! it s time for me to walk the path ^^ that's why i called "experimental" my work here !! i dont want to do a diary that shows only cannabis… I rather want to build a logbook of my work...if i am wrong on certains analyses/ ideas or right…. it could be easy to see when…. how…. why ?? etc etc I decided to be as readable as possible for this week and the next to organize this diary each week with a title...with sub-chapters on the different subjet...to help readers to scroll quickly on the part that can interest them 👍 so as i said at the end of the first Week : prepare yourself to a trip in micro molecular world….👍 fasten your seatbelts 😵😜 Let's go together for an innerspace immersion 👌 -------- THE FABULOUS MOLECULAR WORD ----------------- Every growers has, a moment or another, heard someone talking about fungis, enzyms or even bacterias. This does not mean that all growers understands clearly how they live, how they act, what they need, when use it or not...how use them etc etc... For many manufacturers this market represents a huge economic stakes….. why ? is it only bullshit marketing ?? 😏 Not at all.... it is not only marketing ! 😜What is delirious (bullshit) this is the price sold by those manufacturers because of the cannabis stamp on their products ! keep in mind finally that fungis/bacterias have been studied for culture only on recent researchs works...they really started after the 60's/70's.... keep also in mind that it is only in 2013 that an international consortium coordinated by INRA has for the fist time decoded the complete genome of glomus intraradices - a weel known mycorhizae -...and what they found is really surprising !! as I said above " sharing knowledge helps Always helps to improve your own knowledge!!... it s a virtuous circle…" This last point define perfectly and totally what the symbiotic organisms are : a virtuous circle 👌 they create a share to receive 😇 Fing good information, and good pics is not and easy thing... i lost a lot of links du to the death of my HDD...and strangely it was hard to find them again…. but keep in mind that a lot of studies on the web about mycorhizes, trichoderma or bacteria are often made around a specific subjet/plant or abilities ….and there is a lot of fungis families and sub-families...so if you do your own research on them try Always to know the protocol and postulats 👍… -------------- THE FUNKY SYMBIOTIC FUNGIS FAMILY ----------------------- A - MYCORRHIZAE : a little history... A Scottish fossil named (20454😙) has allowed to date by carbon 14 mycoorhizae fungis to 450 million years 😲….( and may be it could be a litle older…) As i said before, it took 4 years for an international scientists consortium to correctly decode the génome of Glomus intraradices (one of the well know mycos)…. in order to understand why it use symbiosis….. and what they found is so surprising…. 😱 Glomus intraradices "miss/lost ?" only one gene absolutely indispensable for him to live and growth alone… wich means two things : or G.intraradices lost this gene by time (mutation ?)...or it never had that gene…!! 😊 Wich means that his joob : is only to help plants to grow…. 💪 wich means it could be the first brick for the vegetal regne stage !! 🙌🙏 And it might be the same for all Endophytic fungi, name given to beneficial fungis…!! ----- END OF ANCIENT HISTORY -------------😴😿😁 At this step it's important to understand the two strains of beneficial mycorrhizae that interested us. Endo-mycorrhizae : wich have their biotop most in deep soil Ecto-mycorrhizae : wich have his specific biotop on the first part of the soil…(we will see later why) ------------ Most of the time, growers use manufactured products based on Endo-Mycorrhizae…. Endo-Mycorrhizae are classified as an arbuscular fungie...we will see why after ! As u see before, Endo-Mycorrhizae's spores need a host to start his life… without that, the spore is on a stasis state… on a Survival mod if we can say…💀 A zombie mod… 😜 not dead not alive all Myco can do, is slowy establish a network… with really thin filaments….deploying a net all around her It only remains to wait….. wait 😒 then a filamentous contact with the roots occurs.... the growth's root pulls these spores towards her... and spore infection occurs. (i said infection because technically keep in mind that all fungis, even the beneficials, infect the plant !! it s important to remember this 😤) at this time we can say… MYCO IS FINALLY ALIVE !! 😜 So the infection started, myco go in the root and installs it communication body...a sort or arbuscule (small tree) Inside the root. (that why scientist call beneficial mycorrhizae, arbuscular) to simplify this body will exchange food for sugar ! Take a look on pics... i built a chronologic diaporama on the development and how act myco's 👍 Update ---------- Now !! Myco are at works !! and they work hard !! Mycellium is deploying by thin filamentous net everywhere… in the same time myco's produce a large range of bio-substances...enzyms for a large part…. but with the marvellous abilities to chelated nutrients….a large part of myco are incredible to degrade quicly phosporus which is one of the hardest macro-nutrients to be integrate by roots… récents studies has demontrated an increase up to 50 % of plant ability to feed.😲 with a good roots mycorrhization so mycos chelate nutrient and feed the roots (specificly in P.K and micro, iron, mag etc... to simplify)…. in exchange they ask in return : sugar from plant. then the virtous circle is fully active… myco allows a faster and better growth to plants - plant makes more sugar --- so myco's devellop his network and feed more the plants --- so the plant produces more ans more sugar 🙌🙌… on the paper it seems so simple…. and in fact it is ! 😅 but when we do our own soil...most of the time we do a synthetic soil.... with sterilized substrat . And if we want to make this magic thing happens we have to respect somes rules...we will see that in the conclusions...😚 to close the endo-myco's chapter, and for resume endo-myco have great power to feed by a large range action and accelerate growth, but as a fighter against another fungi its only action is defensive… we call in fungi resarch this aptitude : competition. that means that if a myco detects a pathogene fungis she... stops feed plant and use its aptitude to devellop mycellium and spores (see pics) in order to extend his opponent by taking all the space...and do a chokehold...the fungi rear naked choke 😜… Keep in mind that when fungis are on defense or attack mod (for trichoderma) they use all their Energy to do the job….that means if they stop feeding the plant they continue to be feeded by the plant...this is the Reason why we have to build a good soil to maximize fungis effects. ------------------------------------------- Let's talk quicky about ecto-mycorrhizae : its represent the first bareer against every attacks from the first part of the ground….!! but it is the most difficult to host properly in our grow…. how create the good biotope 😭 normally in natural environment this fungis represent the first element to degrade the fallen residues to the ground and wich also can connect to all little plants roots growing on the ground... and more than that it creates a biotope favorable to bacteria wich have abilities to absorb atmospheric nitrogen !!! (we well see how its possible later). There too... it seems simple...but not really ! 😱 this process in natural environnement is a slow process….wich mean it take time to have a properly natural humus on the first ground part… and may be some of you already understood that if we dont build a right biotope on this part of our soil we cannot host properly this fungi 😗...and bacteria. I made a quick overview of the ecto-mycorrhiozae topic….but in the third Week or may be the fourth….i gonna try to build an experience with companion plants….and at this occasion I would come back on ecto-myco and their importance 👍👍 stay tuned !! But to close now this chapter…. Keep in mind that ecto-myco infection to the roots - by what we call a Hartig network (see scheme on ecto root infection) - build a shell wall arround infected root...increasing by 3 the thickness...against pets attack… this network is the ectomycorrizae body to feed and exchange with plant Inside cells root….👍.... they build mycellium as myco but not so extended... It's almost the same type of symbiosis : food for sugar…. P a litle bit….K a lot and also micro nutes…. they also compete against other fungis like myco's action….. but in addtition they have an antibiotic role….wich mean they can repair damaged roots 🙌🙌.... it also seems that this fungi dind't loose his ability to degrade cellulose and lignite to the difference of glomus intraradices…but only to degrade natural humus. Its time now to talk about our next fighter ! Trichoderma families. exactly like mycos there is a lot of trichoderma strains…. hazarnium, hamatum, atroviride, longibrachiatum….etc but they share the same abilities…. they are fighting !! when they infect roots they build Something like a 3d structure…. they produce less mycellium….but as a feeder role tricho have the marvellous ability to chelate Nitrogen…. not only in soil guys !! 😲😲 we will see later why ! but in exchange, it demand carbon from the plant !! And exactly as myco we have the same virtous circle that starts to work : i feed plant with N and micro nutes...she grows and by photosynthesis produces more carbon - i grown and chelate more N.... extatic symbiosis ! 😍 trichoderma is also a fuc*** fighter. he haves the three power ! competition ! antibiosis ! and chitinase !! wich mean he can infect another fungi or even nematodes by transpiercing their shell or membrane (see pics) 😈 he's a natural born killer !! But he's not onlu a killer also an absorber… on microscopic pics vs a nematode you can clearly see the substance emits by tricho that started melting nematode's membrane….and to be totally ingered... bacteria enters the scene. before i talk about bacteria quickly...I have to tell you that I have not finished with trichoderma !! they have a super power !! 💪💪💪 when the root infection is correctly develloped tricho have the fabulous property to act like a mobile nutrient !!! A MOBILE NUTRIENT !! 🙀😍 Yeah guys !! it s incredible ! it means two things : Besides the fact that he's going to feed continuously plant in n and micro….. during the flowering stage when plant loose 95 % of her ability to feed in N... tricho do this job ! even with atmospheric N 😜 and guys not only ! the fact that it act like as a mobile nutrient give it another super power ! it can fight against atmospheric fungis like botrytis 🙏 by surinfection and antibiosis after !! WTF !!😍 OMG !! this guy should be named….TRICHULKDERMA 💪💪💪 😜 !! At this step...you should be able to understand a lot of things…. if it's not ! read again and let your brain do the synthesis 😉 because of the time that takes me to synthesizing everythi i know….i am a bit late in my grow….😓 but if i'am on the right path normally I can catch up on my delay…. There is a lot of myco/tricho/bacteria's products on the market...but last year i test TNC product….and i have only good things to say about this company… well packaged product is really important to ensure the best conservation of Micro organisms and TNC done a great job on that point….this fungi bacteria are fresh….and to demonstrate this point I will try to infect a root directly during the germination phase...stay tuned on the next weeks to come folks 👍👍 here is the full list of MO included in their product Endomycorrhizae Glomus clarum G. intraradices G. mosseae G. deserticola G. monosporus G. brasilianum G. aggregatum Gigaspora margareta (1.2×104 spores/kg) Bacillus Bacillus subtilis B. amyloliquefaciens B. licheniformis (each at 1.2×109 cfu/kg) B. brevis B. cirulans B. coagulans B. firmus B. halodenitrificans B. laterosporus B. megaterium B. mycoides B. pasteuri B. polymyxa (each at 7×108 cfu/kg) Ectomycorrhizae Rhizopogon amylpogon R. fulvigleba R. rubescans R. villosuli Laccarria laccata Pisolithus tinctorius Scleroderma spp (5.0×107 spores/kg) Trichoderma Trichoderma hamatum T. harzianum T. koningii T. longibrachiatum T. reesei (each at 1.3×108 cfu/kg) Soluble Humates, Natural marine algae derivatives (from Ascophylum nodosum) Including :- trace elements, natural plant hormones, amino acids and vitamins. ---------------------------- 🙏 Ôm nama Shivaya..... I need your assistance 🙏😘 stay beside me and let me know what you are thinking !! 🙌 --------------------------- As i'am just on deadline….i show on pics a new foliar spray full bio that seems so interesting…. a canadian manufacturer For somes reasons canada recently adopted the perfect attitude with cannabis….. especially on therapeutics studies but not only !! they recognized the psychoactive effect and decided to rule the using and the growning !! Shiva bless canada 🙏👆🙏 and for somes reasons...... goods or bads….all their economy will grow…... as cannabis grows 🙏🙏 Ôm Shiva Feel free to contact this manufacturer….and cite this topic to see with us how to buy it !! MY BROTHERS : THIS IS THE NEXT LEVEL TO FIGHT AGAINST PEST !!!!… with 100 % success…. What else ?? A coffee ? 😹😂 i will do a summary around all i talked, later here ---- not having time at the moment ---- but it will be done before the end of this diary 👍👍👌 KEEP IN MIND THAT MY WORK ON THIS CHAPTER IS NOT OVER 😤 MY RESUME WILL BE AS IMPORTANT AS MY DEVELOPMENT...stay tuned ! BECAUSE KEPP ALSO IN MIND THAT MICRO ORGANISMS NEEDS THE SAME VIRTOUS CIRCLE FROM YOU….AS A PART OF NATURE...IF YOU WANT THEY DO THEIR JOB !!!! 😱😨 to be continuated 🙏 --------------------------- In the next week episode of "let mother do the job…" We will see : strain, seed, soil and how help seed to be effective...either than soil !! stay stuned folks 👌🙏🙏🙏 you can see a green gelato strip tease 😍 👍

@@Ssomeguy please dude if you edit your post say what you edit 👍 thx… the title of the vid : Top Reason Why Biochar Doesn't Increase Crop Yields…. as i said if you put bio char and even more with char waste not correctly acivated it will acts in soil like a vampire...drinking all nutrients it can at each watering….until it is properly activated. there is only one Reason 😄 after this is just a question of good tips in order to activate it at the best 🙏

@Eauderay, hey your words sounds great !! take a look on my quick kush diary...it is the demonstration on the first state of a germinating seed process… Natural mycos and trichos lost ground this last century in permaculture because of the productivism philosophy built by a lot of manufacturers…. it is a wrong way to think correctly to my point of view…. i am here to show the best way to produce yield, quality and this with so much less nutrients than usual...👊
Eauderay
Eauderaycommented6 years ago
@Budofpray, interesting link! I also stopped buying trichos because it is already in my soil. I don't think it is possible to replicate what nature's does outside in my 20liter pot? You might starve beneficial who need extended plants connections between many species to truly be beneficial, it is perhaps taking more than it can give in small containers like mine? The only thing I would buy is to improve my grow room air intake/ cooling capacity and co2. But I am always interested in those products and people that tries! maybe there is one out that does! Also if you want to remove excess heavy metals in soil or water like uranium you can use Zeolite or bentonite clay. Zeolites are used in Fukushima!!!

@Budofpray,Looks like your off to a great start I will follow this grow for the next 100 weeks or so according to my estimate. Yes there's always one in the bunch sometimes seedlings don't want to pop off the shell and open up.Probably a weak seedling. Not worth wasting your time and effort on them when they do that.

Yoo dude !! it s pleasant to see that you've done some researchs 👍 I just take a look to your vid...it's exactly the philosophy it's a question of building a soil really effective … i took time to read more precisely your diaries. as you said our ways présents real similar things...but if i understand well, your pleasure is to do homemade stuff to grow your plant right ? but you still do a mistake if you keep thinking that coal wastes is rougly similar to bio char…if you used this it will take looooong time to be really effective in your soil...even if you have mix with some cool amendments….as the guys say in this video after doing his mix, he let sit FEW MONTHS to active worms and microbiens activity… i'm going to show my own experimental way to activate bio char in 10/12 days…. and stay stuned because i think this can also be done differently based on specific tea 👍 🙏
Ssomeguy
Ssomeguycommented6 years ago
@Budofpray, Yes I know that stuff, I burned it with fire for a while. The "activation" or "charging" or "inoculation" process is populating the char with fungus and bacterias. That's also to some extent a reason why it uses and needs nutrients for a while (the microbes use a lot of it, too), since biochar itself has quite a limited nutrient/mineral profile. Edit: Biochar is not difficult to understand or make, especially if you're not doing it for industrial purposes. The basic principles are to not let it get too hot, and to not let it burn to ash (usually with some methods to slowly and consistently burn the material, such as covering and water and putting the fire out at the right time, roughly). I know, that's pretty crude, but then, I do things very simply, if I can. And so far, it's been working. I also believe there are reasons to have sort of "impure" biochar, with some nice ash and some semi-burnt materials, as they also have their own beneficial effects.
Budofpray
Budofpraycommented6 years ago
@@Ssomeguy, ok buddy !! if you think you do the right things for activating i'am happy for you 👌 but which seems to me easy to understand that is bio char is not a name given to char made with bio plant material as you burn and colonised by microbes as you say… the name bio char is produced after a specific pyrolised burn process : you understand ? to make bio char you have the slow pyrolisys (traditional pre colombian technics wich produce a dirt low quality bio char and modern technics wich produce big yields high quality clean bio char) and the flash pyrolisys wich is the modern quick technique with high pressure… it's formed under complete exclusion of oxygen at a range temps between 700 and 1800 ºF according to the techniques used ! did you do that for your char ?? these techniques change the physical properties of the char...that's why i posted a micron pics of the bio char to show the sponge aspect wich is one aspect of his new physical properties. not hard to understand😉 Anyway if you think what you do is the best...this is the most important buddy 👍
Ssomeguy
Ssomeguycommented6 years ago
@Budofpray, He says it activates within about 2 weeks (even with very simple things), but longer is typically better. Also, that's JUST the biochar, sitting there, alone. And it's not coal waste. It's burnt plant material (char), which was sourced and made in this yard from trees and stuff. It becomes "bio"char as it gets populated by microbes, not so hard to understand. I already have good soil, added compost, feeds, etc. So, I might as well let the biochar sit on my topsoil, and the microbes from my soil (other than from the mixed in compost) can start populating it, while I also gradually feed it. Mine's been sitting on the (top) soil, around the plants for about 2 weeks now. It should already be somewhat activated, considering the huge amount of microbial activity and already good soil, nutrients I have here. Think about it, I already have LOTS of trichoderma, bacillus, earthworms, very varied nutrients etc in my soil. So I just added the char (mixed with compost and other nutrients) over that, mainly as filler actually, but I'm pretty sure it'll get activated just the same, maybe even quicker than usual.

Hay man! Thanks for viewing my diary! I'd be happy to give you my experience with this plant, sharing knowledge is key. Firstly, I had an extremely vigorous veg period, she really shot up quickly. Side branching was strong and she also responded very well to topping. The flowering stretch was the biggest I've ever seen, a real doubler. I was sent these seed and nutes by RQS as a promo, and the nutes I'm using are the "easy boost organic nutrition" which go in your soil mix and slow release over 12 weeks. And in conjunction with that I'm also using "easy combo booster pack" which has veg and bloom soluble tabs in a pack together. They're not cheap, so not sure if I'd use again before trying something more traditional. That backbuilding technique you mention is intriguing. It is so simple, but I see how it would work. Might be a good way to try and prevent foxtailing. Gonna do it on my stardawg this week, see how it goes. Will keep you posted with any info I have. Peace bro ✌️
Budofpray
Budofpraycommented6 years ago
@Ashbash, you totally connect buddy….👏 👍 foxtailing is not really a bad thing at all on my point of view…. depend of so much parameters due to the gen/pheno/environment/light etc... and because in addition very often it is difficult to manage properly...😒 but with this technique i'am sure that if we are on the good timing we can have better Density and size
Ashbash
Ashbashcommented6 years ago
@Budofpray, Yea man, that's the exact article I read after you mentioned it. One of my plants might be a bit past that point now, and the others way too soon, but there doesn't seem to be any downside to trying. At worst you'll lose a fraction of a gram of bud from what I understood, and thats if the buds have stopped growing.
Budofpray
Budofpraycommented6 years ago
@Ashbash, thanks man ! did you read the 420 magazine trhread that JJjunior mentionned ? you have to do that at right timing to be fully effective and it may depend on blooming stage duration 👌 🙏

hey bird of prey, try what i did in my 1st week, give her some time, see if the cotys come free and then gently lift them free after moistening with water. if her cotys don't rise up at all i'm of no experience.

Hey dude, I had the same thing happen with my royal Gorilla. I eventually pried it off but the plant never took off, so I swapped for a new seed. I think you made the right decision there 👍👍

thanks for the info brow, im using endo mycos for the first time and the growth in various plants im growing (only one being cannabis) is very aggressive! The cannabis is the one that is mostly strong and taking advantages of their friend mycos, the roots are all white and big at the bottom of the pot. I will be following along this one too... happy growing! tchau, do Brazil

I did not say you were controlling everything in your grow...i think you are misunderstanding me, I agree with you and bird of prey, I am not trying to argue with you on such small points because it seems we agree on many crucial points...just trying to understand why it works for you when it clearly did not for me! How everything even clones react so differently to their environment! When I was lowering water ph my plants always suffered/dying in mid flowering stage unlike those I did not including tomatoes and salads! For chlorine I just let the water cool down to ambient temperature, does it remove enough of it so I do not experience problems? There is surely simple answers and ways to do things...like the link you provided about DIY biochar! So let's stop arguing but sharing experiences and try to understand why it works this way or another!

@Budofpray, I was checking something about simple biochar activation, got to this video: https://youtu.be/1UiW3-IMfME?t=464 I did roughly something like that (my char is a mix, some ash, mostly burnt pieces and then some pieces not entirely burnt so it's not purely just biochar, I'm confident it's more than good enough though). But anyway, I used mulberry leaves, compost, urine mixed with it. I didn't even know I should do something like that. So it's gonna gradually activate over the next few months. Other than that I do feed the soil sugars, carbs, compost and plant teas as well as other random stuff though so a lot of it will likely activate fairly quickly and the soil was loaded with stuff before (vermicompost, compost, many kinds of carbs, basalt, plant debris etc). The guy in that video also uses basalt with his biochar, which I've used fairly extensively and I think basalt is quite effective.
