Everyday is a fight to keep the PH down. Every morning the PH is consistently going up to 7.3-7.5. I calibrated my ph reader and then brought down the water ph level to 5.6 this morning and by night time it is at 6.5ph. I am curious what I will find tomorrow. The seedlings do look happy and no roots at all showing through the net pot just yet. Stay High Folks ✌️🏽

Grow Questions

Why would my PH level jump from 5.6-5.8 to 7+ in a 24 hour period? I leave for 2 days every weekend so no one to tend to my plants. I don't want to deal with a lock out.

Couple of reason: i) reservoir too small, so any small change in solution concentration will greatly impact the pH. This will happen as the plant takes water and nutrients in different ratios than what you put in the reservoir. Since probably you can't increase the reservoir size, you could try to buffer the pH: put both pH up and down so to stabilize the pH against said changes.

@Wicked_Stix, Thanks man. I am actually excited for the water change then with RO water. I did you tap for this first water batch. I have to systems in my tent a RDWC and DWC 3 bubble buckets. The RDWC is cloudy but I think part of it was I didn't rinse my clay stones good enough. I will throw some HP in there for the time being before I do my water change. Thanks for the info✌️🏽

@PablosFarm, it is never a good idea to pH up and pH down the same batch of nutrients. If all 3 of them are rising at the same rate then it is something in your water and nutrients. The ro water should help, but a lot of different nutrients don't play well together especially in dwc. I have tried most the popular nutrients over the years and general hydroponics maxi nutrients hold stable for weeks in a healthy system. I have fluctuations if I mix anything with it. If you have cloudy water then something funky is probably growing in your system and a couple tsp of 3% hydrogen peroxide will clear that up. Best of luck with the rest of your grow.

What hydro kit is that? I think I want to upgrade to hydro next.

@StoneyNugs, I agree with PablosFarm that it's easy to build something. See my DIY for example which can be customised to suit... growdiaries.com/diaries/31812

@StoneyNugs, it is made by Viagrow I bought it off amazon. I think it would be easy to make though. I bought different hoses from home depot because I wanted to setup the buckets a certain way and I didn't want my res in the grow tent. My water stays nice and cool without the res in the grow tent. I like it so far.

i have a very similar garden to yours except no res just all independent bubble buckets and i was using tap water at first and it stunted my plants horribly i switched over to distilled water and i dont even have to adjust ph anymore just add nutes... im a newbie but this is for sure a problem ive had and fixed with neutral pHd water

@bloomerang, I am thinking switch to RO will help. I did too use tap water. Thanks for the info✌️🏽
