flatcap After completing my first grow earlier this year - which was chaotic but incredibly educational - I'm starting my second indoor cultivation project. Despite the modest yield from my previous grow, it taught me valuable lessons and ignited my passion for understanding cannabis cultivation at a deeper level.
This grow is fundamentally a learning journey. My primary goal is developing core cultivation skills rather than maximizing yield. I want to learn to "read" the plants - to understand what they need, when they need it, and how to respond appropriately.
Core Learning Objectives
Proper watering technique: Understanding when and how much to water
Environmental control: Maintaining optimal conditions throughout all phases
Early problem detection: Identifying and correcting deficiencies before they become serious
Philosophy: Quality over quantity. Aiming for safe, high-quality flower with healthy plant development.
Strain Selection
Hightere Kirsche by Kannabia Seeds and Hightere Gedanken
Genetics: Purple Punch × Cherry Pie
Type: Feminized, Indica-dominant
Flowering time: 8-9 weeks

flatcap Both Hightere Kirsche seeds germinated successfully on November 27th using Eazy Plugs. Germination was quick and uniform, with both seeds showing healthy taproots within the expected timeframe.
After germination, seedlings were transplanted into Frux starter/herb soil in temporary containers:
Hightere Kirsche #1: ~2.5L pot
Hightere Kirsche #2: ~1L pot
(Biodegradable starter pots are on order but haven't arrived yet, so I'm using what I have on hand. Will transplant to proper containers once they arrive or move directly to final 15L fabric pots with Bio Hanferde in 1-2 weeks.)
Current Environment
Lighting:
Schedule: 18/6 (18 hours on, 6 hours off)
LED power: 30%
PPFD at canopy: 157 µmol/m²/s
Distance: currently ~120cm
Climate:
Temperature: 20-24°C (68-75°F) - Night: 20°C / Day: 24°C
Relative Humidity: 63%
VPD: 1.0-1.15 kPa
I increased the RH to ~72-75% the last few days to get the VPD more in the direction of 0.4-0.8 kPa.
I am watering them both very conservatively (mainly keeping the soil moist, but not directly wet) with rested revers osmosis water. No nutrients at the moment.
The light might be set relatively high at the moment with a distance of roughly 120 cm to the plant tops, but the ppfd measured is in a good range and so far I cannot see signs of unwanted stretching.
As my last grow I battled constantly with root gnats I started right away with providing nematodes preventively using Plantura Nematode capsules that dissolve over time and should keep a supply of nematodes in the soil for around 6 weeks.
So far I am pretty happy with the start and cannot wait for the ladies to continue growing towards the light 😇

flatcap Both Hightere Kirsche seedlings are showing excellent vegetative growth and have transitioned from the early seedling stage into active vegetative development.
Hightere Kirsche #1 (~2.5L pot):
Second set of true leaves fully developed with pronounced serration
Third node beginning to emerge
Healthy dark green coloration throughout
Strong stem development with compact internodal spacing
No signs of nutrient deficiency or stress
Hightere Kirsche #2 (~1L pot):
Very similar development to #1
Second true leaf set well-formed
Compact growth structure
Healthy appearance overall
Slightly less developed than #1, but within normal variation
The plants are approximately 2 weeks post-germination and both are thriving. The characteristic indica structure of the Hightere Kirsche genetics is already becoming visible with the broad, sturdy leaves and tight node spacing.
Current Lighting:
Schedule: 18/6 (unchanged)
LED power: ~32-35%
PPFD at canopy: 175 µmol/m²/s (increased from 157)
Distance: ~120cm
The light intensity was slightly increased this week to support the accelerating vegetative growth. Plants are responding well with no signs of light stress or stretching.
Watering & Nutrition
Continuing with conservative watering approach:
RO water only, pH adjusted to 6.0-6.5
No additional nutrients - relying on starter soil nutrition
I had a slight mishap with the humidifier I use in the tent.
I accidentally switched it from auto mode into continuously increasing the humidity, which means that both plants suffered 99% RH in the tent for around 24 hours.
Once I spottet it I immediately changed the humidifier into the correct mode and although the leaves of both plants seemed a little droopy and some water droplets had already formed on the plants
