ChubbyBudBros I will be trying my first hydro shallow water culture grow with Stress killer automatic CBD.
I've made my own DIY hydro bucket using a 10L paint bucket, a net pot and an air pump I got from Amazon.
For nutrients I will be using Terra Aquatica Tri-part with some additional Bio Bizz CalMag.
I've already put the seed in water for 24 hours and it started showing it's taproot. I then moved into a RQS coco pellet that was soaked in plain tap water with a 5.8 PH.
Hoping for it to sprout in a few days. ๐
-------------------
Day 3
She sprouted very quickly! The taproot already broke out the bottom of the plug.
I added just a small layer of clay pebbles in the bottom of the net pot, put the pellet on there and surrounded it with more pebbles as you can see in the pictures. I will add some more pebbles as she grows up to block the light some more from getting into the bucket itself, but right now the seedling is too small still to add more.
There's no sign of any true leaves yet, so I'm trying to keep light gentle for now, she is not directly under any light, but she's getting about 270 PPFD from the SF2000 light that is above my other plants in the tent.

Day 1
Here we go! Officially day 1 for this plant as the first true leaves have shown up. Had to PH down the water reservoir from 6.2 to 5.6. Not seeing any roots poke out the net pot yet for now.
Day 2
Only took 1 day and the taproot has already hit the water ๐, that was surprisingly fast!
Day 3
She is making great progress so far ๐ช that root has gotten quite a bit longer now.
Did also check PH, which was at 5.7 today ๐๐ป, after I ph'd it down to 5.5 yesterday. and water temp is ~21.5ยฐC
Also gave another 8ml of Hydrogen peroxide.
Day 4
Already got the second true leaves showing up ๐ and that taproot be doing well too. PH went up to 5.8 today, brought it back down to 5.6. Water temp is around 21.5ยฐC
Day 5
More roots are poking out of the bottom now! that first set of true leaves is looking very nice and healthy.
Checked the water and PH didn't drift at all, stayed at 5.6. water temp was 20.5ยฐC, but lights had only just come on.
Day 6
Love seeing the roots develop so quickly. The first set of true leaves got a big growth boost over night.
Not checking PH today for once, think it will be good till tomorrow.
Also dropped the light down a bit to increase PPFD to ~290
Day 7
Genuinely shocked the roots get that big already after just 7 days.
Didn't have to PH down either today, only got back up to 5.7 from 5.6 over 2 days.

Day 8
Did a full water renewal with 500ml less water, so 5 liters now. The roots have some space to breath now between the bottom of the net pot and water line. Also topped the net pot off with some more clay pebbles.
Day 9
Second set of true leaves is forming nicely, and the 3 set albeit small, has shown up as well!
PH got up to 6.3 today, so I took it back down to 5.8.
Day 11
PH got back up to 6.2 after 2 days, So pH'd back down to 5.7.
Day 12
Got that third node developing nicely now.
Day 13
Checked the PH today, was at 5.8 after I pH'd it down to 5.7 2 days ago, pretty stable! Seeing small nodes deleveop already on the lower branch!
Also added a maintenance dose of 5ml hydrogen peroxide 3%.
Day 14
The root growth has exploded quite a bit the past few days! I noticed that the leaves seemed a bit stressed from the light so I took a proper reading and realised I was almost giving 400 PPFD so I reduced it now to 300.

Day 15
Growth seems to definitely be picking up now! Did a full water renewal today. So far this grow has been pretty chill.
Day 16
Still doing great! not much to report for now, temps are a pretty cold now out here so I think growth is a bit slow due to that.
Day 17
Kinda surprised she isn't really show that much explosive growth as I would expect from a hydro grow?
Added a maintenance dose of 1ml/l of h2o2.
Day 18
Checked pH today which was still at 6.0, so just leaving it like that for now.
Day 19
Checked pH earlier, which was still only ay 6.0 after 2 days since I pH'd down to 5.7, so that's pretty stable.
I'll be increasing the light slowly this week to 400 PPFD, moved it to 320 now.
Day 21
I've removed the 2 upper sets of fan leaves, they were blocking the light too much to the lower nodes, so hopefully those will be able to take off like crazy now and catch up with the main branch.

Day 22
Renewed all the water in the bucket today as we head into week 4 already. Gave everything a good cleanse with some hydrogen peroxide as well, got to keep those pathogens out! Seems like she's reacting well to me removing the 4 fan leaves yesterday as well.
Day 23
Upped the PPFD to 400 today. pH was at 6.3 to got it back down to 5.8.
Also seeing the first white pistils on the nodes of the stems now, so we're in pre flowering now!
Day 24
The upper fan leaves had a big growth spurt the past 2 days and were completely covering the lower nodes, so I chopped them off, also removed the lowest nodes of fan leaves to redirect energy to the new growth. pH was up to 6.1 today, will wait till tomorrow to ph down again.
Day 25
Yesterday I lowered the water a bit so that there is more space between the net pot and the surface of the water, I think I kept the gap a bit to small so the roots couldn't breathe enough, and today the leaves are finally a lot less droopy. I did also raise the light distance a bit but kept the same 400 PPFD. pH'd down to 5.8 again as well, even though it was still at 6.1 and added an 8ml of hydrogen peroxide dose.
Day 26
Removed the new set of fan leaves again, they keep growing so fast
Day 27
Stretch has definitely begun now. The side branches are starting to catch up with that main branch now as well. Trying to keep those lower nodes getting some direct light by trimming and tucking wherever possible.

Day 29
Start of a new week. Plant seems to be stretching now, but not seeing any pistils on the flowering sites so far. Also did a full water refresh again.
The canopy is starting to get more even now with me trimming the fan leaves from the main stem to slow down it's growth a bit.
Day 30
pH went up to 6.2, brought it back down to 5.7. The canopy is pretty even right now. Still not seeing any white pistils forming on the flowering sites for now.
Day 31
Gonna not check pH today, it should be pretty stable now. Did a light defoliation, removed some of the lower fan leaves that were barely getting any direct light, and removed some fan leaves on top to allow for better light penetration.
Day 32
Checked pH today, was still at 5.8. Did have to add a liter of water to the bucket today, seems like she is starting to drink a lot more now!
Day 33
The pH of the water dropped down to 5.7 today, and she drank a ton again. Topped up the water in the tank with 5.8 pH water again. She is growing a lot now, still no white pistils on flower sites however.
Day 34
Not much to report today except that she is growing fast right now! still no white pistils on flowering sites tho. I did increase the light distance a bit to 62cm as the top leaves are showing some light stress.
Day 35
Decided to do a big defoliation today, I 'm seeing the first baby white pistils on the flowering sites so I wanna make sure that as many as possible nodes get direct light so they can build strong flowering sites. I had to add some lst clips to get the light touching the lower nodes.

Day 36
First week of flowering now, the first small white pistils on the flowering sites have appeared! Did a full water renewal with 5.8 pH.
Trying to get some direct light to those lower flowering nodes by tucking leaves as much as possible but had to cut some off as well.
Day 37
Just quickly checked water today, she's drinking well and pH went up to 6.2, gonna wait till tomorrow to see if I need to bring it back down.
Day 38
After messing around with the light intensity and distance of the light I finally got her praying ๐
When I checked the pH I noticed it went down to 5.8 from yesterdays 6.2, which is..odd?? Or is it because she is consuming all the nutrients in the water... gonna have to do some research on this. I added a liter of water to top up the reservoir again and set the pH to 6.0.
Day 40
She drank up almost the whole bucket after 2 days ๐ . I just did a full water renewal with new nutrients, pH'd at 6.0 and a more bloom focused feed. Flowers are starting to set in nicely now and still have quite a bit of stretching happening.
Day 41
She is still drinking a lot. pH went up to 6.3, so decided to pH it back to 5.9, also added about 800ml's of water to the off the reservoir.
Removed some fan leaves on the fastest growing branches to slow them down a bit and let the smaller branches catch up.
Day 42
Seems like she is drinking even more now, also saw a bitch stretch happen since yesterday. Had to top up the bucket with about 1.4 liters of water, which I pH'd to 6. Also removed some of the lower fan leaves and flowering sites that were just not getting any light.

Day 43
Refreshed the tank today. pH was reading at 5.5 so seems like she is mostly drinking the water and not really the nutrients..I think. she's drinking a lot so the nutrients get a lot more concentrated. Gonna have to keep an eye on that. Think it's good that I switch to a schedule now of replacing the water reservoir twice a week now. Also checked PPFD, the top canopy is getting about 620 PPFD.
Day 44
Flowers are starting to set in nicely. She is drinking a lot right now, have to top up the 4 liter reservoir every day now it seems. pH went up to 6.4, so brought it back down to 6.0 now.
Day 45
She had another big stretch over night. I've raised the light a bit as she was getting close to it now and I don't wanna overstress her. She is still drinking a lot, topped up the reservoir with another 1.3 liters of ph 6.0 water. Will be doing a full water change tomorrow.
Day 46
Fully renewed the water today with new nutrients, I did put in a bit less of each nutrient this time, I'm seeing some minor leaf tip burn starting to happen. Seems to correlate with the higher bloom nutrient dose, so I will dial that a bit down from now on. Removed some fan leaves on the fastest growing stems also to slow them down a bit, a lot of the smaller stems are starting to catch up nicely now.
Day 47
Had to top up with 1.5 liters of water, she is definitely drinking even more now...after adding the water (6.0 pH) the pH was 6.1. She is still growing a lot as well, especially those side stems are catching up to the top of the canopy. I should probably do some lollipopping soon.
Day 48
Ph was down to 5.8 today, had to top up the water again with 1.5 liter of 6.0 pH water, which brought the pH up to 5.9. She is still stretching quite a bit right now. Also did my first defoliation today, I removed a ton of leaves but it looks like barely anything was removed because there so much foliage ๐ .
Day 49
pH got down to 5.7 today. It keeps surprising me to see how much she drinks in one day. Was able to top up the bucket with almost 2 liters again. Made the water 6.1 pH which brought the pH in the bucket back up to 5.9.

Day 50
The stretch seems to be slowing down a bit now, also seems like she is drinking just a bit less now, so hopefully we see those buds develop nicely from now on.
Day 51
Renewed the reservoir today. Starting to get difficult with how big the roots have gotten ๐ .
I reduced the amount of T.A. tri-part I'm giving as I'm starting to add Big Bud from Advanced Nutrients from now on for the next 2-3 weeks.
Day 52
pH got up to 6.4, I Added 1.5 liters of pH 5.5 water, which brought it the pH down to 6.2.
Starting to see the bottom fan leaves slowly yellowing as she is using up all those stored nutrients to build the flowers.
Day 53
I've noticed the nutrient burn on the leaf tips have gotten a bit worse. I've decided to fill the reservoir with just plain 6.0 pH water for a day to flush out the overload of nutes and will give a lighter mix again tomorrow.
Day 54
After having given her just plain water yesterday I've given her a new reservoir with a lighter nutrient mix. Hopefully this will help with the nutrient burn.
Day 55
Topped up the reservoir again with 1.5L pH 6.1 water. Seems like the nutrient burn is stable for now.
Day 56
I noticed some brown spots on a few leaves on top, I figure they look like calmag deficiency due to the light being to strong. Noticed I was giving 50+ DLI so I reduced light intensity to 45 DLI, see if it stops the spots from spreading.
Had to fill up the reservoir again with 1.4L. pH'd water to 6.3 as the water in the reservoir got down to 5.7, which brought it back up to 6.0.

Day 57
Noticed quite a dramatic drop in pH today, went from 6.0 to 5.3 in one day. I noticed one of my bubblers was blocked, put in a new one and it's fixed now, hope the issue was due to that. the plant is doing good otherwise. Brought the pH back up to 6.2 now.
Day 58
Was happy to see today that the pH drift has been fixed! Seems like the broken bubbler was the problem. pH only dropped down to 6.1 today.
I topped the reservoir up with some 6.1 pH water to keep it there. Happy this is fixed now .
Day 59
Sadly the water bubbler was not the issue :/. pH dropped down again from 6.1 to 5.3. I fear that she is just drinking so much compared to how small the water reservoir is, which makes the nutrient concentration very strong, brining down the pH. I did a res change today, Let's see what it looks like tomorrow.
Day 60
pH went up to 6.5 today after the water res change, which seems to be how it always goes. It goes up the first 1-2 days then it drops hard the next days after. I gave it 6.1pH water today topped the res up more than usual because I will be gone for 2 days, hopefully the pH will stay somewhat stable until I get back.
Day 62
Back from my long weekend! The reservoir still had about 1 liter in it, she been drinking a lot. Came home and immediately refilled the reservoir. Noticed pH had also dropped so 5.1!! With the newly added water now it's sitting at 5.9 now. Seems like she is doing well however. Some of the of lower fan leaves yellowed a lot more but that is probably due to all the flowers developing right now.
Day 63
Water topped up again with 1.5 liters of pH 6.6 water, which brought the pH back up to 6.1.

Day 64
Redid the reservoir today, I upped the nutrients as she is starting to show signs she is very hungry and quite some leaves had yellowed completely in the bottom half of the plant.
Day 65
Seemed like she drunk a lot less today, didn't have to add any water. Just had to pH the water from 6.6 back down to 6.1
Day 66
Today she drank a lot more than she did yesterday somehow. Had to top up again with 1.5 liters of 6.7 pH water...pH was down to 5.5 again, brought it back up to 6.1 now. A lot of the lower fan leaves are still yellowing quite a bit. seems like she might need a stronger dose of N still.
Day 67
pH has been dropping a bit less since I've been topping up the bucket with more water, seems to confirm my suspicion that the pH can drop so much just because it is a small reservoir, which she drinks a lot from in one day. It went to 5.7 from 6.1. Topped her up again with 6.5 pH, which brought it back up to 6.1. The buds are really fattening up, looks beautiful.
Day 68
Not much too report, she still keeps drinking a lot every day, pH drops from 6.1 to 5.6 over 24 hours and I top up the water with about 1.4 liters with a higher pH to bring the pH back to ~6.1.
Day 69
Same as yesterday. pH dropped only to 5.8 now, I guess nutrients are being used up by the plant towards the end of the week, so pH stays more stable as the nutrient concentration lowers. Topped up with 1 liter of water 6.6 pH, back to 6.1 pH.

Day 70
Did a reservoir change today. Seems like she will need at least 3-4 weeks more with how the buds seem like they have quite a bit to go. But very happy with her so far!
Day 71
She drunk a lot less today for the first time in a while., didn't have to top up the water but did have to bring pH back down from 6.6 to 6.1.
Also did quite a defoliation of leaves that were starting to be completely yellow.
Day 72
Aaaand today she drank almost the whole reservoir lol. Had to top her up completely with some 6.1 pH water.
Day 73
Still drinking a lot of water, but the pH stayed at 6.0. I guess this means she is starting to eat less nutrients now.
Day 74
Interesting, pH stayed at 6.0 again. She also seemed to have drunk a lot less today as I barely had to top up the water.
Day 75
pH only dropped to 5.9 today, barely any water gone again. Interesting that she seems to have stopped drinking a lot already while I feel that the flowers still have a lot of bulking up to do. Also did a bigger defoliation of the yellowing leaves, an amazing citrussy smell fills the air when I defoliate.

Day 76
Another week gone by, she is definitely working towards the end now, water intake has gone down a lot, haven't had to top up the water for 2 days now.
I did do a reservoir change as I do every week change. I'm guessing she will have 2-3 more weeks to go now. Definitely hoping the buds still bulk up for a while.
Day 77
pH got back up to 6.7 today, just pH'd it down to 6.2 as I expect it to start dropping now the next days as it usually does. water level barely moved. Interesting how these plants can just stop drinking from one day to the next towards the end.
Day 78
pH stayed pretty stable today only went to 6.3, so not gonna adjust it or top up water today, no need it. Some of the fan leaves started to really degrade really fast since yesterday, had to defoliate a bit more to clean her up. Checked the trichomes already because I was curious and i'm seeing quite a bit cloudyness already, but also a lot of clear and no amber yet.
Day 79
Topped up the water, seemed like she drank a bit more again today for some reason, pH'd the water back to 6.1.
Lots of fan leaves starting to die off fast now as she is nearing the end of her lifespan. Will probably start to check trichomes consistently somewhere next week.
Day 80
Water was 6.2 pH today. Was enough water left in the reservoir for another day as well, so for the first time in quite a while I do not need to do anything to the water today ๐ , finally an easy day haha. Figured I would also get the first trichome pics going as we are on day 80 now. Lot's of clear, seeing more cloudy ones and a tiiiny amount of amber starting to come trough!
Day 81
Water got down to 5.9, so I topped up with 6.5 pH water, brought the pH back to 6.1. The buds are definitely in their final ripening phase. The pistils are all starting to become brown and curled in slowly. Fingers crossed we only got a week or so till harvest.
Day 82
Just removing the dead fan leaves, topped the water backup in the res and brought pH back up from 5.9 to 6.2. Still seeing new white pistils clusters show up on the buds. Gonna wait a bit more before I check trichomes daily.
Day 83
Barely seeing the water level move now, pH stayed stable at 6.2 as well. Checking trichomes, but still mostly clear/cloudy.

Going into week 8 of flowering now. A lot of fan leaves removed over the past few days, she's looking a lot less bushy now. I redid the reservoir, building down the nutrients now as she should be ready in 1-2 weeks.
Day 85
pH went back up to 6.6, got it back down to 6.0, barely any water out of the reservoir.
Day 86
Water stayed at 6.0 pH, still enough water in the res as well so not gonna do anything today, just removed some dead leaves. Did check the trichomes, and we still got a lot of clear, a bit more cloudy and some amber ones popping up.
Day 87
Just keeping the water level stable now and ph'ing when I have to. Gonna give those trichomes a few more days before I check again.
Day 88
Just topped up the res with some ph'd water. Not much change yet in the trichomes.
Day 89

Day 91
Another week ๐ฑ, was hoping she was already curing at this point. Checked trichomes on her and there's sadly still a whole bunch of clear ones.
Day 92
I changed the reservoir today, gonna keep the same low dose nutrients as I did last week.
Day 93
pH got to 6.7, brought it back down to 5.83. Trichomes still clear.
Day 94
More stable pH again now, stayed at 6.2. Did another big defoliation of dying leaves. She's not gonna have any leaves left soon. ๐
Day 95
I've placed her in the corner of the tent, reducing her DLI a lot, let's see if that helps her ripen those trichomes faster.
Day 96
Still not seeing anything special happen with those clear trichomes ๐
Day 97
Topped up the reservoir which was almost empty with just plain ph'd water. I'm gonna give her one more week before I chop, hoping the reduced DLI I'm giving her will make her finish those trichomes.
day 98
I'm not really seeing big changes in the trichomes, they seem to mostly just stay clear. Very odd that this is now my second plant in a row that has done this.
After 7 days of drying I've trimmed her down and got 94 grams worth of buds and a bunch of trim. Gonna let it cure now for 2 weeks. Will update smoke report after that.

ChubbyBudBros Day 99
Decided to harvest today. It's been a super interesting grow, first time I tried any form of hydro in a DIY grow bucket. The bucket did an amazing job! Stresskiller performed excellent as well! Was a very easy to grow strain. Didn't have any issues, only performed defoliations to try and get an even canopy, which worked out really great, I will probably never top autos anymore now, giving it less stress seems to be the way to get a longer veg period. It took 35 days for the first flower pistils to show up on the flowering nodes. My trichomes sadly never went more then 20% cloudy, but I think this has something to do with my setup, as my previous grow also had this issue. The plant is drying now in the dry tent, when it is done and trimmed I will do a final weigh in and update the journal with the total dry weight. I can't wait to try some, her smell is like sour and citrussy, very potent.
Wow, these plants are looking happy and healthy ๐๐ฑ๐ฅ Great job! Keep growing strong ๐ช If you have time, check out my YouTube grow channel and show some love ๐๐นโจ
