India_Calcoen I’m starting my first indoor grow! I decided to grow Zamnesia’s landrace pack. I want to get familiar with the 'origins' of contemporary hybrid strains. It’s going to be a challenge - growing radically different genetics with diverging growth and flowering times, all in the same tent. I will need a lot of patience, practice growing techniques and settle for a lower yield, but I love starting a new learning journey! I’m intrigued by the relationships between people and their (heritage) crops and animals. My other hobby is raising Ronquières turkeys. The original breed of turkeys that were domesticated by the indigenous people of central America and brought to Europe by Spanish explorers in the early 1500s. The Belgian artist Joachim Beuckelaer painted a (dead) turkey in 1566 that looks exactly like my pet turkey tom named “Hempie”. Strain information Afghani – Zamnesia Seeds Genetics: 90% Indica / 10% Sativa THC: 21% Flowering time: 7-8 weeks

India_Calcoen My seed was planted on the 22nd directly into soil and germinated on the 26th of November. I transplanted the seed with it's growbag to a 12,5 litre Airpot on the 3rd of December. The growbags are quite handy when I want to transplant a seedling from the propagator to the pot. I can lift the seedling with it's soil easily and the roots grow easily through the growbag. I have 4 seedlings growing at this moment. Thai from the Landrace Pack didn't germinate so I decided to grow Lamb's Bread instead. I planted the Lamb's Bread seed in the propagator on the 28th of November. I prepared a pot for it. I put a beer bottle to keep a hole for the seedling. I hoped to grow some new beer, but nothing happened 🍺🍻😉😎

India_Calcoen 14-12-2025 Afghani is growing fast and fine! The soil is drying fast and I'm checking everyday if I need to water her. She gets plain water or water with Plagron Power Roots. I'm planning to train her and waiting untill she is large enough to top.

India_Calcoen 21-12-2025 Last Wednesday I topped my Afghani. She has a thick stem and wide, big leaves. I did not expect she would have the same structure as my Panama Red and my Colombian Gold. Maybe their structures will change when I switch to 12/12, but for now they are all growing similar. Today I decided to defoliate her and open her up a little. This is my first time training a plant. First time topping was a bit scary, but the plant is doing fine.

India_Calcoen 28-12-2025 Afghani has a problem, but I don’t speak her language yet. When I saw the yellow tips I thought that she has a nutrition problem (overfed) and the droopy leaves made me think I overwatered her. I left her drying for a few days, but her fan leaves turned crispy! I touched them and they crumbled under my fingers. I decided to flush her today. I flushed her with 2,5 litres of plain water and I hope this will improve the situation. At this moment I think she has a nitrogen poisoning. Batmix is a rich soil and I don’t know if Afghani likes this. Hopefully she finds her spirit again. Fingers crossed 🤞🍀

India_Calcoen 03-01-2026 I’m still trying to understand what Afghani needs. I gave her 1 litre plain water every other day and today I added 1 ml of Alga Grow, Power Root and Sugar Royal. According to the instructions on the bag of Batmix, I should start feeding her in her fourth week of grow. I started slow, hopefully she reacts good. I defoliated all her damaged leaves. I also decided to hang the lamp a bit higher. Maybe her new leaves are so narrow because she doesn’t like so much light… 🤷‍♀️ 05-01-2026 I hung the lamp even higher. It’s hanging 58 cm above her. Hopefully she recovers. I think the problem was and is light stress. She got another litre of water and feed today. The soil is drying very fast! 07-01-2026 I noticed some brown spots and decided to add CalMag to her feeding water. Maybe it’s calcium deficiency? 🤷‍♀️
