Foxtailing isn’t always stress — some cultivars just do it by nature, especially certain sativa-leaning or dessert lines.
A few that are well known to foxtail naturally:
Dr. Grinspoon (Barney’s) – probably the classic example
Thai / Landrace sativas (Thai, Lao, Cambodian, etc.)
Haze lines (Neville’s Haze, Super Silver Haze, Amnesia Haze phenos)
Strawberry Cough (many phenos)
Jack Herer (especially sativa-leaning cuts)
Durban Poison
Kali Mist
Lemon Haze phenos
G13 Haze
Modern hybrids that sometimes show genetic foxtailing:
Gorilla Glue phenos
Runtz phenos
Wedding Cake phenos
Gelato phenos
In these cases, foxtailing is part of the bud structure and flower stacking, not a sign of light or heat stress. The key difference is that genetic foxtails form symmetrically and consistently, not just on the top closest to the light.
It’s one of those traits that looks odd at first but can be totally normal — and sometimes even desirable 🌱
