Turgor72 Seed was soaked overnight in shot glass on top of grow light. Seed was then put 15mm deep in the soil and covered with a plastic clear cup. Seedling appeared 3 days later. Clear cup was removed when 1st true set of leaves were bigger than the cotyledons. At this time I also filled the 200ml Olla. This will be my main watering method for the 5L plastic pot.

Turgor72 Nothing much to report. Sprinkled Thuringiasis Israelensis (fungus gnat larvae killer) as a preventative measure on top of soil and misted that in. In fact I have not watered this week as the pots feel heavy. I have misted the top layer every other day, just to help the soil microbes and worms populate all of the soil.
Whilst the temperature is okay, being just a little low. The relative humidity is very low for early veg. This will limit growth but I’m sure the plants will push on through.
The plants stem is purple which I think is in response to the less than ideal environmental conditions. However the leaves look a healthy green, without any imperfections.
PPFD has gone from 200 (15 DLI) to 250 (18 DLI) when measured at the top of the plant.

Turgor72 Day 14. Light is on 20/4 cycle, the DLI has gone from 18 to 20. Used the compression sprayer to fill the 200ml Olla once and have misted the top mulch layer twice. Temperature range is between 19 degrees C to 24 degrees C and relative humidity is 40% to 52%. No nutrients have been used and no pruning or training has been carried out. The plant is 10cm in height and is growing steadily. However the plant is not super happy or praying to the light. My response is to not increase the light and allow the plant to grow into it, and add no water until the pot is light to pick up, this should bring out the best in the plant.

Turgor72 Day 21: light level has moved from 20DLI to 23 DLI, as the plant has increased in height. 125 ml of water has been applied to the edge of the pot twice this week. So 250 ml of water in total, to encourage lateral root growth. The Olla has been removed this week. I like them when used with larger fabric pots, especially if I am away for more than 4 days. However in a small plastic pot, the Olla is taking up space and is unnecessary. Right now I prefer plastic pots to fabric, when using living soil. The environment is ranging from 19 degrees C, 56% RH (lights off) to 24 degrees C, 40% RH (lights on). No nutrients or pruning/training has been added or carried out. However when removing the Olla, I did fill with some molehill soil. Whilst walking the dog I came across a dark perfectly fresh molehill and scooped some up in a couple of poop bags 😂. Couldn’t resist it, hopefully full of all things good, out competing with all things bad. Plant is finally starting to look happy, with leaves angling up slightly and a deep vibrant green colour. No purple on the stems however a little purpling to the petioles. No sign of pistil hairs yet, so the plant is still maturing. Would love one more week before the stretch.
