GoodTimesOrganics Welcome Back! 💚 Dear community, here comes the second attempt of the THC - Victory from Durch Passion!
Unfortunately, the first attempt ended with a hermaphrodite plant!
After 3 days under the heat pads, the root has shot out a good way from the seed shell.
The seed leaves saw the light a day later than the other plants.
The THC-Victory is a very personal project of one of our most passionate growers, who will take care of his plant with a lot of love.
Our goal is to experience whether a high THCV content actually prevents a strong feeling of hunger after consumption.
Here are a few facts about THCV, which is still a relatively unexplored cannabinoid:
Antiepileptics
A study on rodents shows that THCV helps reduce the frequency of seizures in an epilepsy model (6). This benefit of THCV as an anticonvulsant is linked to mechanisms associated with the CB1 receptor.
Parkinson's Disease
It seems that one of the effects of THCV on the brain is that it protects dopaminergic neurons. These neurons are the ones that die or deteriorate in Parkinson's disease, so the benefit of THCV in Parkinson's disease could be significant (7).
Glucose Regulation
Some studies have found that a benefit of THCV is its ability to regulate blood sugar. THCV increased energy expenditure by enhancing insulin sensitivity in an animal model (8). In a study of patients with type 2 diabetes, the effect of THCV proved to be a good means of controlling blood sugar levels (9).
Reduction of Hunger
Based on the results of a preclinical model, THCV seems to promote reduced food intake (hypophagia) (10). This could make THCV a treatment for obesity.

We always grow purely organically and for our next indoor project, we will use the entire range from BioTabs.nl this time, as we received a sponsorship package! Thank you again for this!
To start with, the following products will be used:
The soil was mixed with 0.5 g/l Bactrex, 1 g/l Mycotrex, and about 10 g/l Startrex.
Additionally, we will incorporate the tabs and Orgatrex once the growth is right.
Dont Panic is Organics!
The environmental conditions were perfect for germination.

After the first week of growth, a stable little seedling is developing.
The THC-Victory is now growing very rapidly, and a nice elongated leaf shape is already forming.
Since it’s a pure Sativa cross, I will probably top the plant around weeks 2 to 3 of growth and then gradually train it to keep its height in check.
The environmental conditions have been optimal so far:

Since this is a pure Sativa cross, I will probably top the plant starting from week 3 of growth and gradually train it to keep its height in check.
This week, I added more components from the BioTabsNL series.
I incorporated the Selicium Flash as a top dress fertilizer and stuck the tabs into the soil.
Then I watered everything again with Bactrex.

After the third week of growth, the THC-V is developing very steadily and it's going nicely into the stretch.
So I've topped the plant now.
Once the shoots are long enough, I will gradually train the plant to keep its height in check.
Since I've added all the Biotabs components, the only water method is now in use.

After the fourth week of growth, the THC-V is developing very steadily and it's really starting to stretch.
So, I've started to tie the plant down at the branches.
I pressed the branches down with earth pegs so that the plant can grow better in width now.
Additionally, I foliated the plant with Boom Boom Spray to give its growth a little boost.

After the fifth week of growth, the THC-V is developing as desired.
By topping and applying the LST technique, vertical growth is well controlled.
I pressed the branches down with earth pegs so the plant can now grow wider.
I think the plant will stay in the vegetative phase for another week before transitioning to flowering, as it is a pure Sativa.
I also watered the plant this week with Orgatrex.

By re-topping all the main shoots and applying the LST technique, the vertical growth is well kept in check.
I've pinned the shoots down with earth nails so that the plant can now grow better in width.

After the second week of flowering, more and more stigmas are showing!
And guys! Still no male pollen sacs in sight! 😁
I'm especially happy about this, as I've been waiting a long time to see this strain in all its glory. The plants have received a bit more food.
And the stretch has really picked up again.
It now has a really bushy and wide structure.
I've removed the lower shoots and taken out some leaves.

After the third week of flowering, more and more stigmas are showing!
The plant is now really starting its flower production, and yet it's still stretching quite a bit. 8cm of height growth in a week.
Therefore, a technique to keep the height in check is absolutely necessary.

After the fourth week of flowering, the plant is fully focused on flower production!
The stretch has gradually settled, with only an additional 2 cm in height.
In the past week, I only removed the lowest leaves and side shoots. Now the plant stays as it is..
The development of the aromas is picking up speed, a slightly sweet smell is noticeable.
According to the description, the plant is not geared towards producing many trichomes, as the main focus was also on THCV production.

After the sixth week of flowering, the plant is fully focused on flower—uhhh seed production!
Yes, unfortunately. There are quite a few seeds developing.
Many hermaphrodite sacs have formed.
Mostly unnoticed, as I had been constantly searching and checking the plant.
Unfortunately... It seems that the genetics are somehow unstable despite the strong scientific intention. This is already the second attempt, and bam, here we go again.
Well, I will still finish growing it, as I’m definitely curious about the effect spectrum. And it would be a shame to cut the plant now after all the work.
The plant is not bred to produce many trichomes according to the description, as the main focus was also on THCV production.
I hope that the seed production stays within limits.

After the tenth week of flowering, we finally enter the final week of bloom!
So it was time to take another look at this.
Almost all the trichomes are milky, and gradually, amber trichomes are starting to appear.
So next week it's time for the harvest.
The plant is developing a rather spicy smell with herbal notes.

An experiment comes to an end, folks!
The THC Victory from Dutch Passion has been harvested!
What can I say? The plant is a rollercoaster of emotions; first, you have to hope it doesn't hermie, and just when you think, yes, we made it, it does it anyway.
So, it definitely produced seeds and unfortunately pollinated another plant in the tent a bit, despite careful removal of the male pollen sacs.
I think, since this is a scientific experiment to create a plant that produces a high percentage of THCV, at least stated with 8% THC-V and 8% THC, there may have been difficulties during stabilization.
The smell is something very special! When you enter the room where it stands, a strong herbal scent hits you—pepper, thyme, rosemary, belladonna... something like that... Not your classic cannabis smell. But from a distance, you can also perceive something gas-like/diesel-like.
Only when smelling the bud does the cannabis scent express itself with a slight sweetness.
Definitely something different.
The flowering duration is impressive; in the end, the plant brings a respectable weight! In its wet state, it weighs a whopping 717 g on the scale, and that's in a 9l pot.
My conclusion: It's worth trying, but the plant should grow alone and isolated.
I'm looking forward to the experience with it.
