Borealis_Cannabis Started out with 6 each of Purple Queen and Hulkberry. Only 5 of each strain sprouted so I went ahead and started germinating 3 more El Patron, of which all 3 sprouted.

Borealis_Cannabis Seedlings planted directly into final 5 gallon pots with a 70/30 coco coir / perlite mix. 2/3 of the pots had reused medium from last years harvest so we will see how that affects anything.
Full strength nutrients being sprayed from a 3 gallon dispenser just enough to saturate soil around the seed. Feeding every other day to every third day depending on substrate moisture.
Cotyledons have emerged after transplant day +3 making this the first full week since starting germination.

Borealis_Cannabis So this is a bit late but the plants are officially into the third week. Germination was 18 Dec 25 and I have left for a vacation in Costa Rica leaving my girls alone with my wife for a week starting on January 4th. Unfortunately, this is where things started to take a turn for a worst. Once switching the tent to veg state on January 4th, one of the vertical tent poles broke and caved the tent in, landing several of the lamps directly on top of the young plants. My wife was able to salvage the nightmare and got it back up, shoring the corners with canoe paddles and extra poles. It does not appear that any damage was done to the girls which is truly remarkable as they were like this for roughly half the day. To be honest, this grow is becoming a little more complex logistically than I would like it to be, but I am still hopeful I will have some great flower in the end. Brute force and pure ignorance will be the key for this grow. 😆

Borealis_Cannabis Technically at week 3 plus 4 days from germination. Nothing really to report. Was surprised that the purple queen seed I just chucked to the side of one of the pots actually sprouted so I quickly transplanted it into its own pot and will see how she does.

Borealis_Cannabis Girls are coming along just fine. Probably will move half of them to the second tent tomorrow as they are starting to crowd eachother a bit. The runt is chugging along too but it likely 2-3 weeks behind the rest. No biggie. I’m rooting for her.

Borealis_Cannabis Nothing to report. Veg is going well. The presumed late bloomer Purple Queen is starting to hit the rapid growth stage but is still quite far behind the rest in terms of total growth.

Borealis_Cannabis Well, I spoke two soon. On day one of week 7 the tent imploded again and the lights and venting came crashing down on top of the girls. Assessed the damage, did a massive topping on two of the girls, and purchased a new tent. While waiting for the new tent I packed all the girls back up in the other tent and one day prior to the end of week 7 the new tent showed up, got it fully assembled, and the girls back in their home. These girls are tough after having the tent come crashing down on them 3 times now and they are still soldiering on. 😆
Probably going to go one more week and then flip as some these girls are starting to get to about 2.5 feet tall and I don’t want to do too much mesh work while flowering.

Borealis_Cannabis Last week in veg. Girls are recovering nicely despite their many mishaps with the tent. Not going with a SCROG at the moment but some of these girls have surpassed half the tent height already so I may have to do a little LST on the main colas on the most vertical growers in the coming weeks. Excited to finally flip these girls as it’s been the longest veg I’ve done before.

Borealis_Cannabis First full week of flowering and I’m sticking to my typical regiment of a thorough lollipop and defoliate at the end of the first week of flower so I can distinguish who my real growers will be and allow for more airflow in the lower canopy. Used some LST clips to restrict the vertical growth on two of the girls as they were stating to run away from the rest of the group. Trying to maintain an even canopy without using a screen has been proving to be a little cumbersome but as the weeks progress I’m sure it will start to fill out nicely in the tent. 9 weeks down…7 to go!

Borealis_Cannabis Still trying to keep some of my high flyers down with some LST clips. Broke one of my main colas on the Frankenstein plant but this is the least of my worries with her…I’m just happy she will make it to the finish line at all after what she’s been through. 😆
Watering schedule has been roughly 2 quarts per plant every other or every third day depending on how dry the coco feels. I try to let the roots get almost completely dry before another watering. Overall plants look healthy as they round the corner on their second week of flowering. Excited to be wrapping this batch up in 6 weeks or so.

Borealis_Cannabis Girls are coming along quite nicely. Lots of immature pistils have formed and I’ve removed even more nodes that I could tell just weren’t going to be major producers in the long haul or see much light as the weeks progressed. Coco seems to be drying out a little more frequently due to the rapid growth of the plants so it’s been pretty much 2 quarts of nutrient waterings per plant every other day. 5 weeks to go….hopefully.

Borealis_Cannabis Still chugging along just fine. I will say the canopy height is much more consistent with the Purple Queen girls in tent 1, but I can definitely attribute some of the plant height issues in tent 2 to the multiple tent collapses and plant breakages, etc. I’m just happy that both tents seem to be well on their way to a bountiful harvest. I’m starting to see some yellowing on a few of the girls which at 4+ weeks in flowering I feel is normal. One more month to harvest if everything goes to plan. Shooting for April 9 harvest date.

Borealis_Cannabis Purple queens are doing what I hoped they would at this point…going purple. I’ve got my lights at 80% to finish the last 4 weeks of flowering which clearly is being noticed by my girls as thy are really starting to take off. The runt is actually my best cola so far from the purple queen pack with a main cola the size of a baseball. Royal Queen Seeds for another win.

Borealis_Cannabis Week 14 complete and I’m really starting to see a lot of senescence going on. Weirdly enough a couple of the plants aren’t showing any signs of color change or senescence at all. Couldn’t find my digital microscope so I had to order another one. Should be here in a couple days. So far the trichomes are crystal clear so I’ve got some time to mature but it shouldn’t be much longer. Two weeks to go baby!

Borealis_Cannabis Finally taking a peek at the girls with a little magnification this week. Trichomes seem to have a pretty healthy mix of plants that seem to be very near end of flowering, to some that are still in the early stages. Lots of clear, some cloudy, and on some bud even quite a bit of amber. I’ll maybe have to do a multi day harvest if the differences species end up proving to be ending at different times but until then I plan to do a full chop on April 9th.

Borealis_Cannabis Well, I thought I would be chopping today but the girls seem to think we need one more week. I’ve given them one last feeding and I plan to flush the next 3 feedings in a row before a chop next Thursday which will make it 17 weeks total (9 weeks flowering) from germination. The purple queens are looking gorgeous.

Borealis_Cannabis Well, expected harvest date came and went but on closer inspection with the microscope, the trichomes on more than half the girls are still a little premature and showing lots of clear sacs despite the fan leaf color changes. I have set a hard date of next Tuesday for harvest as some of the girls are already showing a lot of Amber and I want to kind of split the middle on these ladies before some of them get a little overdone.
Borealis_Cannabis Happy harvest day…and on 4/20 no less! Couldn’t have planned that out if I was trying to 😆. Girls were chopped and I did a little wet trimming before hanging them all back up in the tents and flipping to drying mode. It’s hard to discern what aromas I’m getting from each strain as they are kind of competing for attention, but as they cure I’ll be sure to report back the specifics for each one. Heading out for a work trip for the next week so I’m hopeful the girls will be just fine without me drying away in my absence. It’s been a fun grow but also relived it’s over as these girls with their every other day watering schedule gets a little old after a few months 😂. First smoke impressions, weight, and final notes to be posted here in a a month or so.
