I began germinating this girl on 29 April. A 6 day germination and week 1 veg is included this week.
I am vegging this in the same 10 gallon cooler as another new plant (Blue Cheese by Dinafem!!). 😊
I added a light nutrient mix (1ml/gal grow) on Day 7 of life (Day 1 Week 1 of Veg) to help stabilize the PH of the water. Over the next couple days I slowly introduced more nutrients and eventually moved them from the 2 gallon reservoir I germinated them in to a 10 gallon cooler with the nutrient mix shown above.
I started them at 30" from the light and towards the middle of the week the Alien started to fall over, so I used the thermostat as a crutch and lowered the light to 24". I am only using the grow switch (mainly blue spectrum) for the first couple weeks and then I will flip the bloom light on to add more light and a more diverse spectrum to prep the plant for flower.
Over the last 10 days I was able to reduce the temps in my veg room and this allowed me to turn on the Bloom switch on my light and not have to worry about the temps being too high. I also noticed that she stopped reaching for the light, but started to tilt towards it.
This week I topped her and did a slight defoliation on Day 5. She has responded well to the defoliation and it doesn't seem like she is too happy in the 10 gallon cooler with the Blue Cheese.
This week I moved the Alien OG to her own 3 gallon cooler rather than sharing the 10 gallon with the Blue Cheese. She seems to be doing a bit better by herself.
She looks pretty good through this week. There is some yellowing at the bud sites, but I don't want to increase the nitrogen too much at this stage. The defoliation probably made it worse, but she will push through.
She seems to have gotten healthier over the last week even though I had some high temperatures and 2 light interruptions this week. Lights went out for about 3 minutes each day (circuit breaker trip! 😢. I turned down the lights in the tent from 480 Watts overall to about 300
This week I did a defoliation and continued to try and spread out the canopy to get some light penetration to the middle. I didn't like defoliating this late, but I did and I am not sure if it was a mistake or not yet haha.
She looks pretty good. I treated her with some Trifecta Pest control (essential oils, soap and alcohol) on F41. I had a small amount of thrips on a different plant, none noticed on this girl, but hit her with it as a preventative measure. I tried to not hit the buds, but this stuff is supposed to be ok to use until 1 week before harvest, but I don't want to mess with the terpenes or THC with the soap and alcohol.
Thrips are nasty shitbirds. I haven't seen much damage on this plant and I plan to use Trifecta (essential oils, soap and alcohol) 1 more time around F44. Are there any other actions I should take late in flower for this girl for a minor thrip outbreak? Thanks!
It always sucks getting pests during flower, but at least your Alien OG is otherwise looking nice and healthy! It can be tricky balancing removing the pests with not damaging the flavor of the buds. I have personally used Neem oil sprays and insecticidal soaps to pretty good effect. Even your trifecta combo could affect your end result if you get too much on the flowers, so you can always try giving your plant a shower. Use water to blast any pests, eggs etc. off of the canopy and upper flowers. When wet you can spray the lower levels of the plant and under the leaves and canopy, trying to avoid the buds if possible. Repeat that cycle to kill anything hatched/misses every 3-4 day for a few times and hopefully you can put a swift end to the thrips! Good luck with the grow, it can still be a great harvest!
I estimate she will be ready to harvest in about 10-14 days. There is still a good amount of clear headed trichomes. She is starting to have a more lemon and pine smell.
I removed the hydroplex from the feed and continue to bring the PPMs down in prep for harvest. At ~10 days left I will go down to a 1.25ml/gal feed for a few days and then 5 days before harvest I will feed only water. I have a some deficiencies on her.. it's manly from the PH fluctuations and some underfeed of potassium. It is very difficult using only a 3 gallon reservoir, the PH is all over the place.

Tomorrow morning She will get the chop 🔪👽🔪👽🔪! I did 2 reservoir changes this week. 1 on F58 to give her the last feed at 1.25ml/gal of each nutrient. 72 hours before harvest I switched to only water to complete my flush. I would have liked to go 1 more day with the flush, but she is ready and I don't think there will be much of a difference pulling her at 72 hours compared to 96 hours.
She's a good smoke. I find the effects more relaxing and I become introspective, but most other people become very social and talkative. She was receptive to all types of training. I did a 2nd defoliation mid flower and it hurt my yields, but I did it because I didn't train her properly early and I was worried about airflow, light penetration.. the good stuff.
These aren't huge nugs, but they are frosty and it is a great smoke. Will definitely grow this strain again.
She was a strong plant that handled stress very well. I used a 3 gallon cooler compared to my normal 5 gallon cooler and it makes the grow much more challenging. The PH fluctuations are way too much and the plants don't seem to get as big.
She really got away from me mid-flower. I didn't defoliate enough during week 2 and didn't tie branches down to let her spread out. The middle of the plant was extremely over crowded so I did a second defoliation. While I don't think it slowed her down much, if any, I removed a a few nodes that could have been some really nice buds if I had the room and trained her properly. The next time I grow this strain I will know that she needs a good amount of space and really stretch her out to get good light penetration.

I enjoyed growing this plant and will do this strain again for sure. The buds are covered in trichomes and is a smooth smoke. The flavor and smells aren't out of this world, but part of that is due to some deficiencies I had late from all the PH fluctuations.

Nutrients: Botanicare line - I like it, as they are pretty simple. The hydroplex is nice, but very harsh in hydro.. I am now down to 20% of the lowest recommended dose and find that it work's the best for my environment

looks like they are coming along nicely....quick question....I lowered the lights measured at 18 inches yesterday...now my tallest girl is only 15 inches away from the light...others climbing 16 inches away....wondering if I should raise a couple inches...or just let them keep stretching??? looking really good finally getting some nice smells and quality budding forming....probably will get to a little more defoliation on a couple plants...what do you think? raise the lights or let them soak it in??? I have plenty of room to go up, and the girls are not showing any signs of light or heat stress........I would use it as my diary question but I dont think it is of serious enough nature for that....really happy about the last 48 hours...I can see how they are going to stack already....day 47 now I want to wait a few days to do some more defoliation...
@@motaman311, I just got lucky here in St. Louis region we are getting a Summer Alberta Clipper coming through from Canada....I get mid to low 60's for the next few nights....which mean I get to open the basement widows and get a nice fresh air and fresh Co2 air flush....I CAN ALREADY SMELL THE DIFFERENCE IN HOW CLEAN THE AIR SMELLS....I will look for that thank you thats what I need to know...NO MEXICAN FOOD TRUCK LEAVES....

@@Wilson_McNugget, Heat will burn off terpenes, so if you are nervous about the closeness, I would raise the light and error on the side of caution if you are still unsure in a couple days.
@@Wilson_McNugget, I think you will be fine tbh. Just watch and if you see tacoing, but more importantly bleaching on the leaves. Also, pistils curling when they should be shooting straight up is a sign of heat stress. When I get close to the light but I don't want to raise it I move the plant so the top colas aren't directly under the light.. the light will be much less intense on the sides. Basically, just watch your plant and see how she reacts. Keep your canopy cooler and if you see heat stress, adjust accordingly. You were doing that with the watering and she's growing like crazy..
Looks like some pretty nice nugs....my #8 is the only one to morph...fox tailing and getting some purple during the initial .5 gallon 5.85 r/l0 watering....but she is bulking up and pretty frosty.......#3 was right at 2oz counting the 10-12 grams of LARF I will dry ice keif in a 160 micron bag....the others should be pretty impressive...#4 is a MONSTER...#6 turned out alright for being trained topped an defoliated heavy...#4 #2 #6 & #5 were topped...#7 put in the closet for 24-36hrs before chop….THIS CEDAR CLOSET I ALREADY HAD IS AWESOME...60% humidity nd like 68-72 degrees depending on time of year....PERFECT DRYING CONDITIONS....#3 raised the humidity to 65% then it slowly dropped over the next week...maybe eight nine days???? I TOOK 3 TO EARLY... but it's pretty decent smoke FOR SURE A UPPER HEADY BUZ....flavor is getting better and has smoked pretty easy joints burn perfect....THESE OTHERS SHOULD BE MUCH BETTER...#5 goes into the dark tonight 7 chopped in the morning nd everything else goes to full flush 2 gallons of ph 5.85 r/o water....then the other four will come down in a week to ten days after two or three two gallon flush's ppm's are under 450 already with the r.o half gallon plain watering...for a week....
@@motaman311,yeah would venture to say Advanced saved my plats from THE GHE....honestly I THINK THEY SUCK NUT.....Cyco Advanced ….so far who I would recommend.....But yeah silica and humid acid.....but Cyco UPTAKE is 1% vs GHE DIAMOND NECTAR at 0.01% Humid acid.....Advanced and Cyco I like so far....but my next grow is a SIDE BY SIDE 420FB's G.S.C. Cyco vs my GHE ADVANCED system....that was the deal I made for free nutrients....NEXT GROW I WILL BE ABLE TO TELL YOU FOR USRE???? But I do like Cyco is certified pharmaceutical grade nutrients guaranteed to have ZERO contaminants....I THINK GHE IS MADE FROM RUN OFF....LMMFAO😂

The nugs are nice, the smell isn't great.. that's why I'm changing nutrients. Hoping to pull some better terpenes from the plants.
looking nice....I just discovered a really cool thing...I wanted LOWER HUMIDITY...the mini dehumidifier didnt do anything to help....so I put a full size dehumidifier in there...that by itself raised temperatures....BUT THEN I MADE A COOL FABRICATED AIR EXHAUST FOR IT...so now all the air from the FULL SIZE DEHUMIDIFIER all goes outside the tent....ODDLY THE TENT TEMPERATURE DROPPED TO 75 FROM A NORMAL 79-80 HMMMMMMMM no poop I cant believe it????
@@motaman311, DUDE...im serous...if I have a better insulator and a better exhaust from my dehumidifier...THATS HOOKED TO A HOSE AND ON FULL BLAST 24/7...it is slightly cooler ESPECIALLY IF I COULD GET RID OF THE hot air COMING FROM THE 4" EXHAUST OUTLET....its a lot hotter then the carbon filet exhaust....BUT ITS A LARGE UNIT....PULLS LIKE A GALLON OUT OF THIS BASEMENT A DAY OR HALF GALLON...it has a large tank....ALL I DID WAS PUT A 15 PACK FOR BEER CANS ON IT....CUT THE HOLE IN THE HANDLE SIDE TO FIT THE VERTICLE EXHAUST ON THE DEHIMIDIFIER....duct taped it on....I had already fitted the 15pack container with a piece of card board, that I cut a hole in and placed the 4" hosing into.....BUT IT NEED TO BE MORE EFFICIENT...so I may modify it myself to have a angle top....with only about a 5 inch height.....THE BEER CONAINER IS PRETTY HOT...and yet it is still lowering the temperature while not making it smell a whole lot outside the tent.....AND I HAVE A HOSE TO THE BASEMENT DRAIN so I dont have to empty it.....I WILL MODIFY IT AND HAVE PHOTOS OF THE FAVBRICATIONS ON WEDNESDAY.....*****O'yeah things are really coming around...I am going to add some Diamond Nectar to the mixture.....PEOPLE SEEM TO SAY ITS A MUST TO FINISH FAT.... Its kind of like the Silica....SO I GOT SOME....I will remove the 1ml/g Ripen 0.5-7-6 and add 6ml/g of DIAMOND NECTAR 0-1-1 Humic Acid...even though Nirvana has some Humic Acid.....THI SHOULD BLOW POOP UP....I will let you know how I feel about it after I water later....GET THE BIG HUMIDIFIER AND EXHAUST THE AIR FROM IT!!!! ITS DOING ITS JOB.....some people say LOWER HUMIDITY MEANS BIGGER BUDS.....35% is said to be the sweet spot???? why a lot of people lolly pop it greatly lowers humidity and creates more air flow....
@@Wilson_McNugget, that sounds awesome. I tried a dehumidifier and it was too small to do anything really. I want to get a bigger one and run it late flower. Luckily with the AC and the lights being set lower the humidity is staying in the 50's. I am nervous to go higher than that to risk mold. I actually would like it to be 40-45% the last couple weeks of flower, but my dehumidifier is crap haha. I am going to keep that in mind for my next dehumidifier.. make an air exhaust.
@TheUk420Show, Thanks bud. It was pretty good, I messed up the dry and cure a little on this 1. Nice to hear about the perpetual, it is tough sometimes to plan, but when you get it going, you get more bud than you can smoke haha.
@DILLIGAF, thanks. That's one of the sites I was using to treat her originally, but I was looking for help with ways to treat late in flower. I actually picked up neem oil for my veg plants now haha.
