SundancerS Yay, it's finally starting! Our chosen Sticky Broccoli Automatic seeds have successfully germinated. Right at the beginning, we had to hold our breath for a moment as the delicate seedling struggled to push through the soil surface. With a bit of finesse and some water to soften the seed shell, we were able to carefully remove it from the tip of the cotyledons. Just two days later, there was no sign of the initial struggles. We are especially excited to work with Green Sensation from Plagron for the first time and see how our Broccoli develops with it. We are very much looking forward to being part of the Eternity Grow Cup 2026, eager to learn a lot, and hoping for a lively exchange with the community. A big thank you goes to Plagron and Zamnesia for the free starter set, let the games begin!

SundancerS After initial difficulties with germination, the growth phase is going quite well for the Sticky Broccoli. It's developing nicely and only needs a few more days until topping. The internode distance is short, but our Monk can handle that. It looks strong and healthy.

SundancerS In week 3, the Sticky Broccoli has really put on some leaf growth and biomass, and overall it looks very vigorous. The healthy leaf color confirms that it feels completely at home, and the typical Indica growth is clearly coming through. It was topped a bit later than usual, but that hasn't hindered its robust growth. Additionally, we applied cropping to control the strong shoots and bend them downwards. It wasn't without drama, though; there was a small break, but nothing that should seriously affect the plant. The shoots have now developed enough to start mainlining. Currently, three nodes with a total of six shoots are being kept. Overall, a very solid standing in week 3 with a lot of potential for a clean structure in the coming weeks.

SundancerS Sticky Broccoli continues to present itself with a consistent curly head and solid growth: hairstyle is on point, mood too. The leaf green is healthy, lush, and shows no signs of trying to create any problems. This week, we specifically confronted the strain with extreme LST stress. Goal: see when it complains. Result: not at all. Two hours after bending, everything is standing straight again, as if we just politely asked it to make some room. Gaslighting on a plant level. Our Monk got to go all out. Tied down, sorted, aligned, and inner order established, outer chaos eliminated. Our Sticky Broccoli takes it all in stride and just keeps growing. Very uncooperative when it comes to drama. Thanks to the many shoots, we also had to make decisions while gardening. Tough decisions. Emotional decisions. We sacrificed shoots with a future so that other shoots could "reach their full potential".... The classic. The Sticky Broccoli is extremely robust, absolutely stress-resistant, and clearly not ready to be impressed by our interventions. It does its thing, and we can only watch. On to the next week! :-) What do you think of the strain?

SundancerS First week of flowering and the Sticky Broccoli has decided that compactness was nice, but height is also quite charming now. The stretch is noticeable, but well-behaved, no wild asparagus growth, more of a controlled "I could still grow." Many shoots had to go; not a tragedy, but classic personnel optimization. Those who didn't make it to the light in time were politely but definitively sorted out. After defoliation, the canopy looks as planned again and not like a poorly ventilated jungle. Light is coming through, air is circulating, and the remaining shoots stand stable and confidently. Technically, everything remains pleasantly uneventful: EC 1.8, pH 5.9. So far, a relaxed grow, good structure, stretch under control. The broccoli is slowly getting sticky, and you can sense that this is not a snack, but a main course. 😎

SundancerS Flowering week 2 and the Sticky Broccoli has decided that modesty is totally overrated: From 19 to 45 centimeters in just one week is a new stretch level. Some shoots had to be trimmed, but with around 95% of their final number, the architecture now looks pretty well planned. The growth remains healthy and vigorous, the flowering is visibly picking up speed, and the little "Puschl" are getting noticeably bigger day by day. With an EC value of 1.8, the nutrient supply is stable, and she's taking up the nutrients cleanly without any fuss. Notably, the new, significantly narrower leaves show a hint of Sativa attitude compared to the sturdier starter leaves. Overall, she presents herself as structurally well-organized, even if she is slowly making demands for space. She's thirsty like after a half marathon; the substrate dries faster than you can say "drain." Her side shoots are ambitiously spreading out, and she apparently still needs to learn that she’s not alone in the shower cabin. The stretch should soon reach its peak, after which more energy should go into the densification of the bud sites. A lot of speed, a lot of potential, and a diva with growth hormones who knows that her big stage is just beginning. What do you think of the crazy stretch in just one week?

SundancerS Sticky Broccoli stays true to itself: stable, thirsty, and with a clear mission. The stretch has made another appearance at around 8 cm, but it seems to be finished now, and the final height should be reached. Instead of striving further upwards, the energy is now consistently directed towards bud development, and you can clearly see that the flowers are starting to grow wider. The structure is becoming more compact, the nodes are tightening up, and the overall appearance looks very tidy. Leaf color remains lush and healthy, no deficiencies, no burnt tips, no unnecessary drama. With an EC of 2.2 and a pH of 5.8, nutrient uptake is running smoothly within the target range. It takes what it needs and visibly utilizes it. The strong thirst remains noticeable. The substrate dries out quickly, which suggests an active root system and good metabolism. There hasn’t been much need for intervention so far; Sticky Broccoli seems like it wrote the grow plan itself. All in all: pleasantly uneventful and precisely for that reason promising. If it maintains this pace, “solid flowering” will soon turn into “decent broccoli crown.”

SundancerS The Sticky Broccoli has held at 56 cm this week and is now stopping its upward stretch; it seems to think that true size is only measured in mass. The buds are now so massive that they’re almost starting to leave the tent on their own to claim more space. They’re not growing anymore; they’re expanding at turbo speed, as if they’re hunting for the next dimension. The smell? It’s so intense now that you could almost think it could fog up the whole house, and we’re not even talking about the harvest yet! :-P The nutrients are doing their job perfectly, giving her exactly what she needs to create these giant buds. The lamp stays at a distance of 18 cm, and the Broccoli is going her way like a fat steamroller, munching through the tent. If this keeps up, we shouldn't call the yield just a "good crop": we're talking about an epic harvest that could probably fill entire shelves. 😏

SundancerS The Sticky Broccoli seems to be really picking up speed now, the smell has intensified and is hard to miss. The buds have visibly gained mass and are on their way to delivering a proper feast. According to Zamnesia, the ripening time is 8-9 weeks, and we've already spotted the first amber trichomes, but we’re not quite ready to harvest yet. The plant is now in the final stages before harvest, but it feels like it wants to get even "fatter." LST and topping have slightly extended the ripening time, but we're getting some solid substance in return. The excitement is building. 😐

SundancerS Due to a spontaneous vacation trip, we set up the automatic watering system from Spider Farmer for 4 days. A tricky situation in the late flowering stage, but hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? Spoiler alert: Everything went better than expected, and the Broccoli just treated the water dispenser like her personal all-you-can-drink pool. She indulged in more than 2 liters a day as if there were no tomorrow. However, she only had water without nutrients in the reservoir. The buds? Well, they are now so massive that we can hardly see the plant; it has basically turned into a "bud tree." The Broccoli has practically adopted "more is more" as her life motto. She remains surprisingly stable, and there are no bending branches, which again speaks to the top genetics from Zamnesia! All in all: a completely relaxed vacation for the plant, during which she surprised us with a bud marathon. She did her job, and we are looking forward to the next, probably last week. 😎😊😘

SundancerS For a few days now, the Sticky Broccoli has activated its fertilizer rest mode. It’s only getting water now, and lo and behold: After just three days, it shows us its beautiful autumn dress! The leaves are glowing in a bright yellow, almost like a decoration for the autumn garden (we're a bit proud of this color scheme). The buds are still in the ripening process and are growing steadily, although they are foxtailing a bit here and there, but who needs perfection when you get dense, powerful buds instead? Its branches remain stable and robust, and that's definitely thanks to the genetics from Zamnesia, even though we gave it a little training for that final touch. But the real star of the moment? The smell. A little breeze is enough to fill the room with a hazy, intense cloud of fragrance; we're talking about an aromatic weapon here! The plant is now making its final appearance: These are the last pictures of the Sticky Broccoli alive before we send it into the curing phase (well, we’re more excited about the harvest than the drying). It's time for the final sprint; we’re looking forward to the short but intense showdown and will keep you updated, of course! 😍

Here it is, the Sticky Broccoli at the end of our epic grow adventure. We had high expectations when we sent the combination of Zamnesia and Plagron into the race, and it has exceeded all expectations. Thick, hard buds, stable and impressive, so solid you’re almost afraid to drop them. No drama, no problems, it powered through and rewarded us with top-quality buds. The smell? Intense! The room now smells like we’ve set up an aromatherapy factory. Huge harvest, no doubt. And yes, even though it was always hungry and thirsty, it never let us down and forgave us for any small mistakes. Our clear recommendation: If you’re looking for a solid, stable strain that doesn’t just grow but surprises with thick buds and intense aroma, get yourself some Sticky Broccoli. You won’t regret it!

I find the lamp distance of 15cm interesting. Is there a reason behind it to better control the stretch? It should increase the leaf temperature and thus the VPD as well. Is that the goal? Exciting!
SundancerS
SundancerS commented6mo ago
@HeizraumGrower, The distance to the lamp really depends on the lamp/lamp manufacturer being used. With many lamps, the leaf tips would already burn at such a short distance. To find out the correct distance, you can look for a "ppfd" map from the manufacturers. Here you can see how much "light" the lamp delivers at what distance and what distance is recommended for which phase.
the end.
