iirky 👋🌱✨ Hey everyone! This is my first legal grow and kind of a dream come true. I mixed my own soil using Bionova as a base, adding worm castings (Plagron), biochar, coco coir with trichoderma and vermiculite. This should be an ideal, fluffy mix for fast-growing autoflowers. At the start, I mixed a small amount of La Calavera powder and mycorrhiza (Symbivit Uni by Symbiom) into the soil mix. During veg, I dusted the surface with 1 tsp of insect frass (local brand Rostik). I am watering with filtered water that has been left to sit in a 25 L reservoir, with a few drops of Seachem Prime added. Once, I also added a bit of worm tea to the watering (local brand Mesiho zizali caj). On day 14, I did the first gentle foliar spray (distilled water with one drop of silica). I am now turning off the humidifier and raising the VPD to 0.95. Right now, I am also testing my DIY Arduino capacitive soil moisture sensor, version 2.0. After programming the calibration, it looks like it works pretty well.

iirky 👋🌱✨ Day 21 I started (day 16.) bending the Strawberry Gorilla and it’s responding quite nicely. Milky Way is super compact, for now I’m leaving her natural. One watering of 1L was done with a pinch of bacteria and worm tea (8 ml / 1 L). Second watering (after 3-4 days) was just water - increased to 1.9L Today I’m planning a foliar spray with kelp extract (Algavit by Symbiom) Light: 40% of 150W in 60x60cm box, 20/4 Photone app: 350-380 PPFD 23-24 DLI 23000-25000 LUX 5450-5500 Kelvin

iirky 👋🌱✨ Day 28 Both strains have shown their sex. No balls in sight :) Funny how MilkyWay threw out a second main cola all by itself and is keeping the side branches even without any LST (just leaf tucking) StrawberryGorilla showed sex a few days earlier than MW, which actually surprised me. I pushed today’s watering to tomorrow, gonna topdress before the feed and I’m already curious about the stretch :) * left: Milky Way F1 right: Strawberry Gorilla

iirky 👋🌱✨ At the beginning of this week, I applied my top dress, worked it into the top layer of soil, and covered it with clay pebbles. 1.watering after top dress: 2 L + Algavit 2 g (kelp) + worm tea 28 ml + pH down = EC 1.3 2. watering (yesterday): 2.5 L water A slight deficiency and some wind stress started to appear on the leaves. I believe it was caused by a combination of high VPD, strong light intensity, and direct airflow. This is my first time growing under LED lighting and using the Spider Farmer system, so finding the sweet spot requires a bit of practice. I recalibrated the humidity and temperature sensor, raised the lamp, and applied a light Cal/Mag (Atami) foliar spray. It looks like they’re happy again. I moved my soil moisture sensor to the center of the pot and finally finished the enclosure for the Arduino. The sensor is powered through a MOSFET and only turns on briefly every 2 hours, so hopefully it won’t corrode. 🌱 top dress 🌱 Worm castings (MegaWorm Plagron) – 40% Insect frass (NPK + repellent) – 20% Alfalfa meal (triacontanol) – 15% Basalt dust (slow-release minerals) – 10% Guano (high P) – 5% Barley grass powder (young barley shoots) – 5% Calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) – 5% Neem leaf powder (repellent) – 1.7%

iirky 👋🌱✨ The flowering phase is here, and the girls are working at full speed. The unstoppable Strawberry Gorilla is laughing at my LST techniques. She already has a subtle tropical sweetness to her aroma and is developing beautiful purple hues. Milky Way is catching up nicely in flower production; her scent is something between skunk, herbs, and rubber tires 🙂 Some deficiencies have appeared, and I think (hopefully) they were caused by underwatering. I increased watering to 10% of the pot volume, which was the first full saturation of the entire medium. At the beginning of the week, I applied a very soft foliar spray - Epsom salt at 0.4g/L. I’m watering with plain water only EC 0.35, pH 6.6.

iirky 👋🌱✨ Girls are growing, but honestly they don’t look how I imagined.. Still seeing some micronutrient deficiencies showing up. It’s most likely caused by higher pH, which probably led to micro nutrient lockout. Switching from citric acid to phosphoric. Next waterings I’ll bring pH down to 6.0–6.2 and see how they respond. Watering every 3 days, around 4.5–6L each time. Still just plain water, EC 0.3 Slowly increasing the light, currently at 66% of 150W.

iirky 👋🌱✨ Milky Way finally stabilized (I guess), but Strawberry Gorilla started showing necrotic spots on the exposed areas. I tried one watering with a very light dose of Micro and CalMag. By the end of the week I figured there’s no point waiting any longer and pushed the light up to 70%. That brought my VPD up to around 1.1–1.3. Today I watered with kelp extract + "homeopathic" dose of CalMag and BN-Zym. pH is still kept low around 6.1. I also realized Brita-filtered water isn’t really suitable for growing, so I’m done using it. At the same time I found out my tap water actually isn’t as hard as I thought, it just has lower Mg and high pH. I suspect my top dress didn’t work as well as it could have because the top layer of soil kept drying out. Next time I’ll probably split it into multiple smaller applications and make sure the surface stays consistently moist. Today I switched the lights to 18/6.

iirky 👋🌱✨ At the beginning of the week I added a (first) full dose of worm tea to the watering – 20 ml per 1 L. The flowers seemed to be taking their time, so I decided to add a small top dress as well, although it probably wasn’t really necessary. I’ll add the recipe below so it’s clear what I might have f*cked up:) In the next watering (4.5 L of distilled water) I added a little bit of lignohumate, gypsum, and Epsom salt, = EC 0.6 and pH 6.2. Regarding my kelp, I discovered something interesting. I noticed it bumps up EC and pH, so I discussed it with the supplier. Symbiom kindly sent me analyses and datasheets, and I found out that the kelp is produced using alkaline extraction and contains a relatively high amount of potassium. Essentially, it behaves like a mineral potassium fertilizer with an analysis of 0.2-0.7-17. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it’s something you definitely need to keep in mind. I also learned that cold extraction of kelp doesn’t automatically mean a better extract. Another interesting thing is that the plant hormones often highlighted in marketing (cytokinins, auxins, gibberellins) are usually present only in very small amounts. According to recent research, the main benefits of kelp extracts probably come from polysaccharides and other bioactive compounds, rather than the hormones themselves. The kelp extract I’m using is Algavit from Symbiom, imported from Canada (Acadian Seaplant Limited). It should be a high-quality extract, purified and regularly tested. However, in the future I’ll probably prefer to use it as a foliar spray rather than a soil input, to avoid building up excess potassium in the soil. 🍁🥦🍄 Mid flower TOP DRESS Lava worm ----------------- 45g High Phos (+Ca) guano ---- 5g Frass ------------------------ 8g Dolomitic Lime ------------- 2,8g Mycorrhiza+Trichoderma -- 4g

iirky 👋🌱✨ day 70 and some bud porn 🙂 watering: pH 6.0 // EC 0.2 (RO + tap) They didn’t smell much before, but over the last few days it kicks me into face, every time I open the box. SG smells skunky, fruity, and a bit citrusy. MW smells like dense, overripe fruit and hazelnut. Added a simple DIY watering setup: 12V pump + SONOFF BASICR4 Wi-Fi smart switch. I can run it (remotely from the app or automatically) for just a few seconds. Maybe I should use it for the whole grow next time. Already getting ready for the next round. This time I properly rinsed and charged my biochar/vermiculite, and now I’m letting it rest with worm castings and a few amendments. I’d also like to start my own vermicompost and try feeding the worms mainly beneficial plants and minerals.

iirky 👋🌱✨ day 84 Milky Way could’ve been done earlier, but I was waiting for some amber trichs on the Gorilla. Still not that many, but Milky Way should compensate.. Overall Milky’s got bigger trichomes and a really nice aroma like overripe tropical fruit with a nutty, cookie-like finish. Last week I let things dry out a bit, gradually lowered humidity and temps, and increased airflow. The strawberry aroma improved a little, but so far it doesn’t feel anything special or distinctly strawberry/fruity. Overall she didn’t do that well in my setup, so that probably affected the terps too. But we’ll see… Also finally set up my vermicompost with Californian worms, where all the leftover biomass from these two plants will slowly go.

I got the Milky Way seed as a freebie with an order, so I decided to use it for this test grow. I wanted to try growing organically, in a larger volume pot with minimal run-off, inspired by living soil growers. At the beginning, I felt quite overwhelmed by all the different products on the market and the various growing methods. But in the end, I’m really glad I went down this path. It forced me to rethink some of my old assumptions and study growing in more depth, understanding nutrients, microorganisms, and so on. You need to trust your inputs! Whether I actually learned something… we’ll see in the next grow :) ....................................................................................................................................................................................GROW : Milky Way surprised me from the start with its strong, vigorous, and quite even growth. I let her grow naturally without any LST. It developed beautiful, round, dense buds covered in large trichomes. Honestly, I could just copy the promo text from RQS - it fits perfectly. Good job guys! :) ....................................................................................................................................................................................SMELL: The smell of Milky Way is quite unique for me. I’ve never had anything quite like it. When you open the jar, you’re immediately hit with an intense hazelnut aroma. After grinding, it shifts into a floral profile with a fresh, slightly fruity note - but a different kind of fruitiness than what I’m used to. ....................................................................................................................................................................................TASTE: When vaporized, the flavour is dominated by a fresh floral taste combined with green apple and a subtle nutty undertone. The aroma isn’t overly loud the vapor is smooth, almost creamy, and doesn’t irritate the throat even during longer sessions. No off-flavours or unwanted aromas - even at higher temperatures, or when it gets a bit roasty, it still tastes fine. ................................................................................................................................................................................EFFECTS: The effect is calming. At first, it’s barely noticeable in the body and tends to stimulate creativity. After some time, it transitions into a more physical relaxation. Long-lasting or better said, slowly releasing. It works well as a daytime smoke without any strong negative effects. At higher doses, it becomes fairly sedative.

iirky 👋🌱✨ Harvest almost landed on my birthday, but April 1st isn’t bad either… might end up being a pretty funny smoke :) Last day (84) in the dark. Wet trimmed buds with stems = 330g (wet, only Milky Way). I was really curious how it looked in the rhizosphere. Milky Way had a slightly stronger root ball. Seems like the roots were more chasing water than air. So watering is definitely something I need to improve next time. Was kinda surprised how nice the roots smelled – a braver grower might even try smoking that :D Also realized I definitely overdid it with the biochar. Unwashed, not charged, with ash and even some nails from production still in there… yeah, that was a mistake. But at the same time it was also a test, since I was trying something new for me.. That’s also why I planted Milky Way, it was a free seed anyway :) Drying at around 21°C, RH 58%.

I think I didn’t unlock 100% of this strain’s potential. I tried to document the issues during the grow, but in short: I had high pH, which led to a micronutrient lockout. The plants weren’t drinking or feeding as they should have. Strawberry Gorilla started yellowing from the top early in flower, losing biomass and struggling to produce chlorophyll. This mainly affected the bud size. ............................................................................................................................................................................................................... In terms of smell, I’d say my pheno leaned more toward the Gorilla Glue side (although I’ve never actually tried it). I don’t get any strawberry notes at all. The aroma is very skunky-cheesy. I’ve handled a few cheese strains before, but this is by far the most “cheesy” one I’ve had. Like Pecorino or some kind of goat cheese. Just a smelly, punchy, pungent skunky cheese with a hint of freshly ground black pepper. Didn’t expect it, but I absolutely love this old-school vibe. ............................................................................................................................................................................................................... What’s interesting is that the smell doesn’t really translate into the taste. The flavor is more like a women’s perfume, with a slightly fruity undertone and a bit of that skunky aftertaste. The smoke itself is veeery smooth and gentle, really enjoyable. Maybe the lockout and underfeeding resulted in lower nitrogen and chlorophyll content, which made the taste softer, or maybe it’s thanks to organics? ............................................................................................................................................................................................................... The effect is very strong a heavy stoned, relaxing, and sleepy high. Perfect for the evening. From this run, I ended up with two strains with opposite effects, which is exactly what I needed.

iirky Cut the Strawberry Gorilla right after Milky Way. Day 84, after 24h in the dark. Wet trimmed fresh buds w. stems = 270g //dry: 60g Pretty nice calyx-to-leaf ratio, even though the buds didn’t really bulk up that much and the lower parts are quite airy - foxtaily. Next time I’ll defoliate thin branches even more. Definitely needed LST or topping for a tight space. Trichomes are mostly milky/clear with only a few amber, but nice coverage from top to bottom and super sticky. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ FINAL WORLD After a long time, I’ve returned to my favorite hobby , and this time without the paranoia of illegality. I truly never believed I would live to see this moment, but I always hoped that if Germany legalized it, the Czech Republic would follow. Now we’ve become one of the few EU countries where people are no longer harassed for growing their own medicine. It’s important to remind ourselves from time to time that even today, as humanity, we are still capable of doing the right thing. I’d like to thank everyone who refused to be discouraged by misguided laws, those who took risks and stood up for what was right. That’s why I named this diary Dream Grow 🙂 As Ed Rosenthal once said: "Cannabis isn’t addictive, but growing it definitely is!"
