CannDy420 Here are two freshly set up living soil beds, each with 95 liters. The beds were prepared 14 days before planting. As a base, I used: 3-5 cm of pumice for drainage 60l Biobizz light mix 10l Biobizz worm humus 10l pumice 660g zamnesia 400g zeolite 250g rock dust 80g dolomite 40g kelp Then the plants, which are about 40 cm tall, were planted.

CannDy420 After 4 days of planting them, they looked so vibrant that I trained them right away. Otherwise, I just left them alone for now.

CannDy420 This week I actually wanted to defoliate again and then flip to flowering. However, I discovered a small powdery mildew infestation. As a result, I heavily defoliated and then sprayed the plants with purolyt every two days. After the third time, I switched to fresh milk because I didn't want to damage the microbiome too much. So I continued for another 1.5 weeks, spraying every two days with a mixture of 100ml milk and 900ml water.

CannDy420 So the first week of flowering is over, and the plants are growing like crazy. What did I discover? Thrips! So I immediately spread predatory mites in there, and Manuel got rid of as many as possible. And this week, I added a little nutrient boost: a honey shilajit mix and a kiwi banana ferment with additional mycorrhiza and beneficial bacteria. The Somango is really dominating and making the Gipsy Haze look tiny. The condition of the plants is so far without any nutrient addition or adjusting the pH of the water.

CannDy420 The plants are growing great, even though I discovered thrips. I've continued to kill as many as possible by hand, but the predatory mites seem to be diligent and hungry. I also watered nematodes this week. Next week, I'll add fresh predatory mites again so that the thrips won't stand a chance.

CannDy420 Flowering day 21 and I did a radical cutback again. I hope it wasn't too much, but I'd rather have a little less on the plants and not drive myself crazy. I hope the plants recover well after the stress and can now put their energy into the selected buds. The lights are running at 100%. Now I'm still considering hanging a 250w light above because I have it, or if I should stick with the 200. We'll see.

Grow Questions

CannDy420started grow question 6mo ago
Do you think I trimmed them too much or does it look good? I plan to not trim them anymore until the harvest.

i see a bunch of small-ish, young leaves. Don't defoliate in future. Selectively prune leaves for which you have a very good reason to remove. For example, avoiding consistent condensation caused from physical touching is a good reason. Do not whimsially remove large portions of leaves, because bro-science says it improves results while never providing 1 mL of supporting evidence. Leave perform numerous necessary and important roles beyond absorbing light. They store nutrients, which gives you room for error. They transpire and take in CO2, which is a limiting factor of growth. The cost of removing a bunch of leaves is nearly impossible to overcome. Light absorption and CO2 intake are the two most important variables. There's no net-positive when you hinder these 2 things, typically. Small immature leaves are not as effective as mature leaves. Older leaves do lose effectiveness, but by that time they are well-shielded and still store nutrients and still transpire (co2 intake). Keep leaves. Leaves are your friend. The burden of proof is on the 'technique' to show it adds some measurable value compared to simply growing the plant without stripping it of leaves... removing a shit ton of leaves has never been proven to do anything positive that i have ever seen - not that i am aware of 100% of all research, but fairly confident about this. The plant will shed leaves if it has too many relative to variables -- a healthier plant can support more leaves, all other factors the same, obviously. This is definitely a case where the plant "knows" better than our limited humans senses can resolve.

CannDy420 Unfortunately, I discovered some powdery mildew at the end of last week. That's why I cut out a bit more and will now apply a hydrogen peroxide solution every three days to contain it. Additionally, I will set up an ultrasonic nebulizer this week filled with purolyt, and I hope that this will help stop further spread. I also placed a dehumidifier in the tent. Let's hope for the best!

CannDy420 This week not much happened, the powdery mildew is under control and the plants have recovered from the trimming. Now it's time to just watch them.

Looking good despite the thrips and powdery mildew. I have had these issues in the past and used a product called Lost Coast Plant Therapy that worked very well. If it is available in your location, give it a shot. Good luck with your grow.
