Day 0 - Started germination on 15 May and the taproot popped today she was placed in a humidity dome and jiffy pellet. This was given to me by a buddy to try and grow out so we’ll see what she can do. First real time growing something other than FastBuds so curious to see how she does.
Day 1 - Her heads through the soil and reaching for the light. Will keep her in the jiffy pellet and humidity dome for a couple more days then move her into the tent and her final 3 gallon pot.
Day 2 - She started to outgrow the humidity dome so decided to put her in her final pot and tent. She’s also not really opening up yet so figured the stronger light in the tent should help.
Day 3 - Before she really started getting settled in her new pot, I decided to try a new soil. Decided to go with my own mix so we’ll see how it goes. Have plenty more seeds so this will be a test of the soil! I did 3 parts compost, 3 parts peat moss, 2 parts perlite and 1 part vermiculite. I read that this should be a good mix for autos being that is pretty fluffy and airy so we’ll see! Started the foxfarm schedule today, like the chart says. Going exactly at the chart so we’ll see if I need to back off a bit. Had no issues any other grow so we shall see.
Day 4 - No major issues right now. Just waiting to see when her roots really start to spread, if she’s gonna take to my soil mix or not. Time will tell!
Day 5 - Nothing much to really update, gave her a tad bit of water and just monitoring her daily!
Day 7 - Ending week 1 with no complaints so far. Gave her a little drink today and just watching her do her thing right now.
Day 8 - Start of week 2 and no issues. Seems to be liking the soil I made so I can’t complain to much. Gonna let the soil finish drying out before starting the week 2 feeding. Her new growth seems to be a little funky looking but gonna let her ride and see what happens!
Day 9 - Gave the first feeding for the week today and have no problems so far. She still has a funky looking growth but all looks healthy.
Day 10 - Seems like she’s taken well to the soil and am having no ill effects to the feeding schedule and nutes. Definitely has a funky growth but looks healthy other than that.
Day 11 - Nothing much new happening, just watching her grow. Gave her a light feeding today.
Day 12 - No real update today, just added a few daily pictures to keep track of the progress.
Day 14 - End of week 2 and everything looks good. Gave her a nice drink of water today and just watching her chug along.
Day 15 - Starting week 3 and things look great. Will start the week 3 foxfarm feeding schedule tomorrow. No issues so far and watching her do her thing!
Day 16 - Nothing too much going on right with her right now. Still early and waiting another week or so to start some LST. Gave her the first feeding of the week.
Day 17 - Just adding a few new pictures to to keep track of daily progress.
Day 18 - Gave her some fresh pH’d water today and just loading some new pics for progress. Didn’t get any pictures but ended up tying her down to try and get some of the lower growth to come out.
Day 19 - Responded well to the LST and removed one big fan leaf and tied her down a bit more. No feed or water today.
Day 20 - She took well to being tied down and gonna let her stretch a bit more before tying her down again. Gave her the second and last feeding of the week. Will give just water until week 4.
Day 21 - End of week 3 and looking healthy. Already stretched back to about 4.5 inches after tying her down. Will probably do some more LST tomorrow.
Day 22 - Starting off week 4 and it’s been smooth sailing so far. She had stretched an inch and a half overnight and is sitting at 6 inches right now but I tied her down some more and forgot to get the new height but will see where she’s at tomorrow. Removed a couple giant fan leaves to get more light to the lower branches.
Day 23 - She has stretched back to about 5.75 inches but tied her down again and now measuring 5 inches. Hoping some of the smaller branches will bulk up and start stretching too. Gave her the first feeding of the week and she was really dried out but not to the point of being unhealthy.
Day 24 - Looking good, seemed a little thirsty so gave her just a bit of water to get her through to a full watering tomorrow. Starting to pop a few pistils as well.
Day 25 - No feed or water today. Did do some more bending and LST, she’s opened up pretty good now. A few pics before LST and a couple after.
Day 26 - Gave her the final feeding of the week today and she’s looking good. Responded well to the LST and just waiting for flowering to start kicking in.
Day 29 - Starting week 5 and she just got her first feeding of the week. The LST definitely helped her out and did a little more today to try and even everything out a bit.
Day 30 - Starting to flower and looks nice and healthy. Nothing to eat or drink today, still letting her dry out. Stretched back up to 9” after tying her down yesterday. Pretty “scrawny” branch wise so hopefully she’ll beef up so she can start putting weight into the buds!
Day 31 - Gave her a full feeding of straight pH’d water and re-tied down a few branches to keep everything nice and even. Did a test of the runoff and measures at 6.6, about .1 lower than what’s going in so things are looking good so far!
Day 32 - All in all she’s looking nice and healthy. She does seem a bit thin, branch wise but I’ve never grown Mephisto before so maybe this is normal until the really start flowering.
Day 33 - Looks good and healthy, still a bit “scrawny” but gonna see what happens. Never grew Mephisto before, only FastBuds so we’ll see how this compares. Gave her the second and final feeding of the week today.
Day 35 - Nothing too much new, she’s just chugging along. Letting her dry out a bit before starting her week6 feeding schedule tomorrow.
Day 36 - Starting week 6 and gave her the first feeding of the week today. This girl is definitely a stretcher but hopefully she’ll start filling in and fattening up in the coming weeks.
Day 37 - Nothing too much to report. She’s definitely a stretcher and I’m really curious to see how this girl is gonna fill in with all the spacing but time will tell.
Day 38 - Buds are starting to form and getting a little bigger than popcorn buds but she’s still young and got some time to go. Gave her a bit of fresh pH’d water today.
Day 39 - All looking good, just updating some daily pics.
Day 40 - All in all, looking pretty good. She’s got slightly burnt tips on a few leaves so didn’t feed her, just gave her pH’d water with cal-mag. Will give her the next feed when the new week starts.
Day 43 - Starting week 7 and not real problems. She’s got little popcorn buds all over the place and really curious to see how and if she’s gonna fill in. Only have a few grows under my belt but never had one thing stretchy. Gave her the first feeding of the week today and will keep my eye on her.
Day 44 - Nothing big or new to report today, she’s stretching like crazy and starting to look good.
Day 45 - She’s looking pretty good and starting to fill in a bit. Definitely more than I thought she would be. Thinking she’s gonna be a decent plant but nowhere near as good as the PE I’ve got going right now. Gave her a good drink of pH’d water tonight.
Day 47 - Gave her the final feeding of the week today. Did a test of the runoff pH and coming out around 6.9. All in all she’s looking pretty good and starting to fill in a bit.
Day 49 - Ending week 7 and she’s definitely starting to fill in a bit. Will start week 8 feeding schedule my schedule tomorrow and looking forward to the next several weeks of he growing.
Day 50 - Starting off the 8th week and she’s looking good. Filling in more and more each day. Gave her the first feeding of the week today and removed a couple dying leaves.
Day 51 - No water today, she still needs to dry out a bit. She’s filling in fairly nicely and looking forward to seeing how this girl will turn out in the end.
Day 52 - Gave the girl a full 3/4’s of a gallon of pH’d water. She’s definitely filling in a bit more each day.
Day 53 - For the most part, she’s looking pretty good but she’s definitely got a little deficiency. A few of the leaves I defoliated seem to point to a cal-mag deficiency. So I’m going to give her good flush tomorrow and up the cal-mag a bit and hope that helps.
Day 54 - Flushed her with a gallon of water and foxfarm’s sledgehammer. Gonna let her dry out quite a bit and then up the cal-mag and hope this corrects her issue. Other than that she’s filling in quite nicely.
Day 56 - Last day of week 8 and she’s really starting to pack on now and looking good. Letting her dry out a bit more before starting feed schedule after flushing.
Day 57 - Starting week 9 and was gonna give the girl her first feeding today but soil was still a little damp so held off another day. She’s definitely looking better than I expected. Can’t wait to see her when she’s done.
Day 58 - She finally dried up after the flush and upped the cal-mag, hoping to correct her deficiency, so time will tell. Gave her the first feed of the week since flushing her. Looks like she might have a little PK deficiency as well so upped the PK as well. Bud are definitely looking pretty nice though.
Day 59 - Overall bud growth is looking good but I’ve upped the cal-mag and she’s definitely still spotting and yellowing. Thinking it might not be getting enough PK by looking at some deficiency charts but still a rookie and really am not sure. Gonna try upping the PK next feed and see what happens. Other than the leaves, buds are still fattening and smell amazing. Any experts have any input?
Day 60 - Gave the girl a healthy dose of water and cal-mag tonight so we’ll see what happens. Though just checked the trichomes and there’s not many clear left so I don’t know if she’s got more than two weeks or so left. Fingers are crossed that she makes it, think she’ll be ok.
Day 61 - Buds are still stacking and fattening so not too concerned anymore about the cal-mag deficiency. Think this girls got about 7-10 days left going by the trichomes.
Day 63 - End of week 9 and all looks good! Thinking about chopping this week sometime. Pistils are starting to shrivel and no new ones coming. Trichs look like it’s close to being ready too. All in all, even with the cal-mag deficiency, she’s looking good.
Anyone got any ideas on what’s going on with this girls leaves? Buds are looking good and thought cal-mag deficiency but upped the dosage and seems like things are getting worse. Any help is appreciated.
Hey there Luv2grow, you're totally right ! It's a textbook calcium deficiency ! you can tell by the "rusty" small spots appearing on the leafs. Problem is uptake efficiency by the roots is only 15% so that means it's gonna take a while to show an effect. Keep doing what you're doing and the problem should stop spreading and the plant should recover within 10 days to a week. If you want quicker results consider using a chelation agent : this breaks down the nutrients so it's more easily absorbed by the plant try any of these : go bio with enzymes, amino acids, humic or fluvik acid, or synthetics like 0.3% HydroChloric Acid. Day 64 - Starting week 10 and looking like this will be the last week for this girl. Gonna let her dry up and may do a partial harvest in the middle of the week and let some of the smaller buds build up before chopping the rest over the weekend. Not sure yet though.
Day 65 Harvest Day - This girl turned 50/50, cloudy to amber overnight and most leaves are consumed with cal-mag deficiency so decided to do a chop and save what I can. Looks like it’s still gonna be a decent harvest. Chopped her down tonight and started trimming but will finish tomorrow and get a total wet weight. Even most of the tiny nugs at the bottom are pretty dense.
