Xpie77 Week 1 report – Girl Scout Cookies (Spliff Seeds) 🌱🍪 5 seeds germinated in 0.2-liter pots, under a propagator with LED setup This week was purely focused on germination and the first seedling stage. The propagator kept the RH high (ideal 65-80%), protected against dry air, and maintained stable temps. The LED provided soft light without heat issues – perfect for delicate seedlings. General setup details Propagator: closed or half-open for high humidity, light ventilation from day 5-7 LED: full-spectrum, low intensity (dimmable or low wattage), cycle 18/6 or 20/4 Distance LED to propagator/plants: 60-90 cm (24-36 inches) – prevents stretch or stress Temp: 23-26 °C (root zone warm, air slightly cooler) RH in propagator: 65-80% Water: pH 6.0-6.4, minimal doses around the stem, substrate moist but not wet Day-to-day overview Day 1-2 Seeds placed directly in pots or after taproot. Pots lightly moistened, propagator closed. No visible growth above ground. Day 3 First action! 3 of the 5 pushing hypocotyl up with cotyledons splitting the soil. The other 2 show bulging – they’ll catch up quickly. Day 4 Full 100% germination! All 5 through the soil. Cotyledons slowly opening. Heights starting at 0.5-1.5 cm. The fastest plants are already showing the first true leaves. Day 5-6 Even progress under LED + propagator. 4 plants: cotyledons + 1 set true leaves (mostly 1-3 fingers) 1 seedling: cotyledons dominant, but still growing Heights: 2-4 cm. Leaf color fresh light green to dark green. No leggy stretch thanks to good LED distance. Stems strengthening due to light airflow. Day 7 (end of week 1) Strong standing after week 1: 3 strong plants: 4-6 cm, 1 full set true leaves + beginning of second set 1 average: around 4 cm, cotyledons + 1 set true leaves 1 slightly slower: 2.5-3 cm, cotyledons open, first true leaves visible No losses, no damping-off or moisture issues. Leaves healthy, substrate balance perfect in small pots. Roots developing well – likely already visible at the bottom. Conclusion week 1 5/5 germinated and healthy – Spliff Seeds quality proves to be top-notch once again. The propagator + LED combo worked ideally: compact growth, no stress, strong root development. This sets the tone for a solid veg phase. For week 2: slowly ventilate the propagator further (RH to 60-70%), keep adjusting LED distance as plants grow (closer if they stretch, further if leaves turn pale). Water still minimal, focus on roots filling the pot. Transplanting approaches as roots reach the bottom (around day 10-14).

Xpie77 Grow Diary: 4 x Spliff Seeds Gelato Setup Seeds: 4 x Spliff Seeds Gelato (indica-dominant hybrid, Sunset Sherbet × Thin Mint GSC line) Pots: 11-liter plastic pots Medium: Standard potting soil (no extra perlite or changes) Tent: 120 × 120 × 200 cm (4 × 4 ft) Lighting: Bestva Pro 4000 LED (full spectrum, 3000K + 5000K + 660 nm + 730 nm IR) – hanging at about 45 cm above the canopy Light schedule: Week 1-4 veg = 18/6, then flip to 12/12 Temperature: 24-26 °C day / 18-20 °C night Humidity: 55-65% veg → 50-55% bloom Watering: manual, pH 6.2-6.5, just water + Cal-Mag if needed Week 4 Vegetative (end of growth phase) The 4 plants are super compact and bushy – exactly what you’d expect from Gelato. Average height: 38-46 cm (plant 1 and 3 slightly taller due to better angle to the LED). Thick, dark green fan-shaped leaves with perfect internode spacing (about 4-5 cm). Good branching from the 3rd node, already 6-8 side branches per plant. No effort, no deficiencies, no yellow edges – the potting soil has been perfect so far. Canopy is nice and flat, LED covers the entire 120×120 perfectly (no hotspots). Smell: almost nothing yet, just a very light earthy/sweet undertone when you crush the leaves. Everything looked great, so I flipped directly to 12/12 on day 28 of growth. No training done (no LST/SCROG), pure bush style. Transition & Bloom in week 1 Right after the flip, the typical Gelato stretch began. In the first 7 days of bloom, the plants have grown about 10-15% (final height week 1: 45-55 cm). First white pistils visible everywhere from day 4-5, especially on the main cola and the elevated side branches. Tops are getting a bit thicker and starting to “swell” slightly. Leaves remain dark green and healthy, no clawing from burning. Smell: from day 6-7, you can clearly smell it – sweet, creamy, with a hint of berries and a very light gas-like/mint background. Typical Gelato! Water needs slightly essential (now about 1.5-1.8 liters per pot every 2-3 days). LED still at 45 cm, light intensity perfect (no bleaching). General observations & tips for this setup 4 plants in 120×120 with 11L pots is ideal: enough space for the bushy Gelato structure without them choking each other. Bestva Pro 4000 performs excellently in this tent – even coverage, no dead spots. Potting soil holds up well until week 3-4 of bloom, then likely start with light PK boost (Gelato is a heavy feeder in bloom). Expected bloom time: 8-9 weeks (56-63 days) according to Spliff Seeds info. Final height will likely be 80-110 cm. Yield expectation with this setup: 450-650 grams dry total (realistic for 4 healthy girls under this LED). So far, an easy, stress-free grow. The plants look happy and the smell is starting to get nice. I’ll keep an eye on it and update.

Xpie77 Current status: Week 6 flowering Height & structure: Plants remain compact and bushy (around 60-90 cm in 11L pots with LST). The canopy looks well-filled thanks to previous training. The stretch is long gone; all energy is now going into bud-swelling. Bud development: Tops are swelling nicely and becoming dense/compact (as seen in the tent photo). Calyxes are stacking up, buds are gaining volume and hardness. Pistils: Still largely white and numerous, but in some spots they are starting to show slight coloring (orange/brown) – normal for week 6. Trichomes & resin: Excellent! The close-up shows a thick, white layer of trichomes on sugar leaves and calyxes. Lots of clear to milky heads (perfect for week 6). This is what Gelato is known for: extremely frosty and sticky, ideal for extracts or hash. Leaves & color: Dark green with nice purple hues (especially stems and some fan leaves – typical Gelato pheno). Lower leaves are slightly yellowing (normal shift to bloom). No serious deficiencies visible. Smell: Strong creamy vanilla ice cream with fruity (berry/citrus) and gassy/mint undertones. It's really getting loud now – carbon filter 24/7 is a must! Nutrients & water: EC 1.5-1.8 with PK boost. Maintain 30-40% runoff to prevent salt buildup. Plants are drinking a lot in this bulk phase. Environment (BestVA 415W + 12/12): 23-26°C day / 18-21°C night, humidity 40-50%. Light at 30-40 cm for good penetration without bleaching. Good ventilation prevents mold in the dense buds. How is Gelato performing in week 6? This is the peak bulk phase. Buds are almost doubling in size and density, trichome production is exploding (as seen in your photos). With Spliff Seeds Gelato (Sunset Sherbert x Thin Mint Cookies) you can now see the classic traits: compact colas, high resin, and that delicious dessert smell. Compared to week 1 flowering (small sites + pistils), the progress is significant – the plants are focusing 100% on flower development. Expectations based on your setup (5 plants, 11L potting soil, BestVA 415W): Trichomes: Even more milky in the coming weeks; amber will appear later. Color: More purple/orange at lower nighttime temps. Yield: Still on track for 300-425 g dry total (60-85 g per plant), provided the canopy remains optimal. Tips specific for week 6-7 Defoliation: Carefully remove large fan leaves that completely shield buds (max 10-15% per session). Also remove lower popcorn buds for better airflow and focus on tops. Water & nutrients: Water generously when the pot is half-light. Continue PK boosting (half dose), but watch for nutrient burn (brown tips). Gelato tolerates higher EC well, but stability is key. Humidity & temp: Keep it dry and cool for maximum resin and color. Night dip helps with purpling. Trichome check: Use a loupe or phone macro. Harvest goal: 60-80% milky, 15-30% amber (depends on desired effect: more clear = energetic, more amber = couch-lock). Problems to watch for: Too wet → risk of botrytis in dense buds (good air circulation is crucial). Yellow leaves too quickly → check Mg/Ca or overwatering. Smell too overwhelming → extra carbon filter support. Outlook Week 7 flowering: Buds continue to harden, pistils color more, trichome layer thicker. Smell at its peak. Week 8-9 flowering: Ripening. Start flush around week 7-8 (last 10-14 days pure water or light enzyme). Total flowering time: 56-63 days (8-9 weeks) from the start of 12/12. Harvest likely at the end of week 8 or week 9 flowering. Curing: Minimum 4-6 weeks for that full creamy cookie/ice cream flavor. The plants look healthy, frosty, and potent – those trichomes in the close-up promise a top harvest! This is exactly the phase where Gelato lives up to its reputation as a resin bomb.
