Germination
5mo ago
birdmountain The seeds were wrapped in a damp cloth, placed in a small all-purpose bag, and hung vertically in the grow box. After germination, the roots can grow vertically downwards before being placed in their plant pots. I hope it works as intended. 😀

birdmountain It has germinated quickly and shows powerful growth. The leaves are unfolding and new ones are forming. However, it is growing a bit crooked towards the light. There is still space in the grow box for the vegetable plants to germinate. 🌡️Temperature ☀️daytime: 28° C. 🌡️Temperature 🌜nighttime: 21° C. 💦Humidity daytime ☀️: 74% 🎚️Light intensity: 25% (12000 Lux) 💧pH value of watering: 6.3 VPD: 0.9

birdmountain The young plant has established itself well in the soil, and it is coping well with the mild temperatures, humidity, and light intensity. However, it has again shown the same deformities this year, such as variegated and initially stunted leaves. Therefore, I believe it is a genetic defect in this strain. I hope it will grow out of this in the next two weeks, as the flowering phase will begin soon. Initial signs of side branches are appearing in the leaf axils, and the main bud is very strong. It no longer needs support and can withstand the fan. Overall, its habitus is somewhat better than last year in the grow tent. The water misting for a few hours daily seems to have done it good. Now the light is slowly getting stronger – which means it’s getting warmer, and the plants are really starting to grow. The time as a little seedling is now over. 🌡️Temperature ☀️during the day: 24° C. 🌡️Temperature 🌜at night: 21° C. 💧Humidity during the day ☀️: 73% 🎚️Light intensity: 25% (12000 Lux) 💧pH value of watering: 6.3 VPD: 0.8

birdmountain She has developed very well this week, literally exploded in growth as expected, but there are still remnants of leaf mutations in the new leaves. To promote the formation of side shoots, the first leaf pair below the current shoot tip was removed. To provide minerals, some seaweed extract was sprayed on the leaves twice.

birdmountain She's developing well, has almost overcome her leaf anomalies, and is getting some side branches. The pH level has been lowered to 6.1 and the humidity gradually to 68%. She seems to be a bit more nutrient-tolerant than the Sticky Broccoli, but the growth of the Sticky Broccoli is stronger. Some fungal mycelium is spreading around the base of the stem, and an aerial root has developed. She is watered twice daily.

birdmountain She has put her energy into training the side branches and has also grown quite a bit taller overall. The flowering has begun. I'm pretty satisfied so far. I'd like to increase the light intensity next week, but I'm unsure if 36000 Lux might be too much. 🌡️Temperature ☀️daytime: 26° C. 🌡️Temperature 🌛night: 21° C. 💦Humidity daytime ☀️: 68% 🎚️Light intensity: 46% (25000 Lux) 💧pH value of watering: 6.1 VPD: 1.0 - 1.1

birdmountain She spent a few days in the foil tent this week and was moved back to the grow box in the evening. She's also suffering from what is probably the wrong amount of vinegar in the watering to lower the pH level. At least she gained another 7 cm this week and looks robust. Just four weeks until harvest, and size isn't necessarily a sign of a big yield.

birdmountain She's focusing on the buds, which have noticeably swelled compared to last week. Along with the standard cannabis scent, a slightly sweeter undertone has already joined in. It's going without effort, moving them into the greenhouse in the morning, bringing them back inside in the evening, and spending a few more hours under the LED light. Right now, she has the strongest buds.

birdmountain She has developed very thick flower clusters in the meantime. Her scent is slightly herbal but not as sweet, caramel-like as the outdoor plant last year. She now also spends the nights in the foil tent and needs significantly more water. She is supposed to be ready in about two weeks, and is still a bit greener than the other autoflower.

birdmountain She is a small compact plant with now strong and thick buds that emit a sweet caramelized cotton candy scent. The leaves are slowly losing color and all energy is flowing into the flowers. Let's see how long this lasts.

birdmountain Tiny mites, only visible with a magnifying glass, have taken over the tops of the leaves and caused the light spots on them. It's now too late for a neem treatment on these autoflowers, so I'll have to wash them. Interestingly, the Bubatz seems to be finishing up sooner than the Brokkoli; it's reversed. The Bubatz now has a stronger and sweeter scent, and it's the sweetness that makes the difference in the aroma. The buds have overall become larger and thicker, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming harvest, but the trichomes aren't even milky yet. 😞

Week 11. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

9/10

She's just easy to grow, measured against the usual standards, like good soil, appropriate nutrients, and temperatures in the recommended range. She stayed smaller than the outdoor strain last year (but without mold in the buds). She would have grown better if I had watered less in the fourth week; that was probably a bit too much, especially when a fungal mycelium is already spreading on the surface. Overall conclusion: It's easier to grow indoors and suitable for beginners. The scent is promising, fruity caramel sweet, and increases quickly during drying. Trimming went quickly, but unfortunately, it will only be 18 g when it's sufficiently dried. A smoke report will follow.

birdmountain Both autoflowers are hanging in the small grow box and drying with a targeted humidity of 45%. It smells stronger every day. It won't be a big yield, but I'm hoping for good quality. The good thing about the grow box is that the last weeks of flowering can be controlled much better there, and in my experience, those are crucial. Thank you very much for the accompanying visits to this diary!

@birdmountain, if I look right... the best in my last year run was the one with the first f'd up set of leaves. 😜 Best of luck.

@TruTraTri, I still haven't quite figured out the hang of growing Autoflowers. But the Candyland is showing me what's up right now. 😎

Amazon fly traps help against spider mites and thrips, don't cost much, but just spraying with water helps too, they don't like water or rain.
