I have never grown this Purple Kush from QCS (Quebec Cannabis Seeds) before, or seen the results from anyone else using this particular breeder, so its outcome was always going to be a bit of a mystery! It makes it difficult to seperate what resulted from genetics, and what resulted from my actual growing setup. I harvested on day 65 after around 10 percent of trichomes had turned amber and most were cloudy.
The buds lost a lot of mass during drying and became somewhat airy. Post-dry, the appearance of the buds became very orange (from the pistils) and a bit frosty green, but definitely did not take on any purple hues.
The potency of the buds definitely developed well despite the lack of density. No complaints at all after an initial vape, I would grow this strain again based on the potency alone. The effects are pretty balanced, leaning a little towards sedating. I would place it as an evening strain more than a daytime strain, but it really could be used any time.
The buds after a week of curing taste spicy, earthy, with a bit of pine.
After another few weeks in the jar, they have maintained the same notes of spice and pine, but have definitely mellowed into a gentle smoke.
I am very happy with the grow, even if the buds got a little bit fluffy and airy after drying. I had no experience growing this strain, and the genetics from the lesser know breeder was a bit of a mystery as well, but the harvest size and potency will make me take another stab at it with larger lights and a 5 gallon pot to see if I can maximize the plant's potential.
Thank you for reading! My next grow is going to be a Black Cream auto from Sweet Seeds, so hopefully that will be up and running soon!
Flowering seems to be going well, but there has been some minor yellowing and browning of the leaf tips. Leaves otherwise seem healthy. Any ideas if this is a water issue, nutrient issue, or just a normal part of the plant's stage?
Hey! Great grow so far! I'm not a pro by no means but from what I;ve seen it seems to be either lacking cal-mag or the ph is off. But I think it just needs some more cal-mag. Hope this helps!
@Jazin, thanks! I am growing their NYC Diesel Auto right now, and I find that in both cases the plants are genetically healthy, easy to grow, and decent yielders 🌲
Hey mate !!! Beautiful structure you had before flowering !!!
Im sure a higher PK + carbohydrates should help the plant, filling more that see of buds ;)
Good vibezzzzz
@Ageddd, I agree! It was my second grow and I was still figuring out the nutrients. I think I overcorrected from some nutrient burn and underfed during flower. I appreciate the advice and will be revisiting the strain in the future!
Looking good ... Just got done harvesting a AK-49 Auto and a Northern Lights Auto myself, check it out if you can ! I wish you the same success. Good luck with the rest of your grow.
