lermontov Iβve been following the solo cup challenge where growers achieve surprisingly good results in very small containers. Inspired by this approach, Iβd like to experiment with a similar concept, but using slightly larger 5-liter containers and a landrace strain, which is Mekhong from Ace Seeds.
For this project, my goal is to grow a landrace strain from seed, observe its behavior in a restricted root environment, and carry out a small-scale breeding effort. I currently have five seeds, all of which Iβve recently planted. While producing seeds is the main objective, obtaining some yield along the way would be an added bonus (5L bottle: ~5β25g per plant).
My lightning schedule strategy is 7β14 days under 18/6 and then switch to 12/12.
Wish me luck! Love y'all and peace !
lermontov This week Iβm running a 12/12 light schedule. I decided to make paper tubes with double-sided adhesive tape on one side to prevent light from reaching the roots.
On day 14, I did topping. While working, I noticed that one of the plants might have leaf septoria or possibly a calcium deficiency.
What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
Thanks, and happy growing everyone!

lermontov I had to prepare an immediate DIY ScrOG because they are going too far. I also installed a pot drip irrigation system.

lermontov There are only 3 females left β another plant turned out to be male, so I removed it.
I forgot to water them for about 2 days, and they suffered a bit from drought stress.
I decided to plant two Heirloom tomatoes instead of the two male plants :)
On the other hand, pollinating with pollen collected from the first male will also produce seeds.
I had to do quite a bit of HST and super cropping because the plants were getting too close to the lights.
I've removed a lot of yellow leaves. I've checked everything; pH, PPM, nitrogen levels, and Cal-Mag ... but they're still dropping :((

lermontov One of them still has a few pistils. She hasn't fully started flowering yet, unlike the other two.
Fresh diary, fresh energy π
Always nice to see a new run kicking off πͺ
Wishing you lots of success and, above all, fun with beautiful, healthy plants π±βοΈπ
