5LT_Pot I’ve been following the solo cup challenge where growers achieve surprisingly good results in very small containers. Inspired by this approach, I’d like to experiment with a similar concept, but using slightly larger 5-liter containers and a landrace strain, which is Mekhong from Ace Seeds.
For this project, my goal is to grow a landrace strain from seed, observe its behavior in a restricted root environment, and carry out a small-scale breeding effort. I currently have five seeds, all of which I’ve recently planted. While producing seeds is the main objective, obtaining some yield along the way would be an added bonus (5L bottle: ~5–25g per plant).
My lightning schedule strategy is 7–14 days under 18/6 and then switch to 12/12.
Wish me luck! Love y'all and peace !
5LT_Pot This week I’m running a 12/12 light schedule. I decided to make paper tubes with double-sided adhesive tape on one side to prevent light from reaching the roots.
On day 14, I did topping. While working, I noticed that one of the plants might have leaf septoria or possibly a calcium deficiency.
What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
Thanks, and happy growing everyone!
5LT_Pot Waiting for flowering… looks like one of my plants is male.

5LT_Pot There are only 3 females left — another plant turned out to be male, so I removed it.
I forgot to water them for about 2 days, and they suffered a bit from drought stress.
I decided to plant two Heirloom tomatoes instead of the two male plants :)
On the other hand, pollinating with pollen collected from the first male will also produce seeds.
I had to do quite a bit of HST and super cropping because the plants were getting too close to the lights.
I've removed a lot of yellow leaves. I've checked everything; pH, PPM, nitrogen levels, and Cal-Mag ... but they're still dropping :((

5LT_Pot It's going nice and slow. I think we still have about 7 weeks or more until harvest for the two plants. One of them is still in early flowering... I don't know how long it'll take. 😁
There's still no any sign of thricomes... On on bud I saw very very few
I have a major issue: several branches are getting too close to the light. The light is already at the highest position. Do you guys have any suggestions? I think I might have to do some more super cropping.

5LT_Pot -Passed to 11hr light schedule.
-No N fertilizer this week
-Significant bud & height growth. Two of the buds inclined from the weight :D
-They get along with tomatoes...
Still no signs of trichome...
5LT_Pot Anyone can guess how many weeks they have left ? The plant on the right side might be a different strain IDK. It grows slower than the two other.

5LT_Pot Trichomes are clearly visible.
It’s going alright, but it’s not pretty, I admit. The yellow leaves are annoying…
No matter what, we’ll keep going 😤

5LT_Pot The leaves are less yellow than they were last month.
I think we are so close. Please bear with me 😊

5LT_Pot One of them turned out to be Thai Mekhong... the others were Lebanese. It will take about two weeks for the Lebanese ones and a month and a half for the Mekhong, I guess.
I had seeds at the time, but I think they were a Mekhong × Lebanese landrace cross. :)

5LT_Pot This week I did not feed them.
I ran flush yesterday.
I am waiting like a stone now.
I am about to harvest Lebanese girls but I am not sure that I can keep mekhong... It still needs a month I assume.
Fresh diary, fresh energy 👊
Always nice to see a new run kicking off 💪
Wishing you lots of success and, above all, fun with beautiful, healthy plants 🌱✌️💚
