SundancerS The first week was a bit damp for our little Banana since we left her under the glass for too long. Now she’s enjoying the direct light without a filter. The leaves have been a bit affected, but they will surely recover in the next week.
On to the second week. We’re excited. :-)

SundancerS The second week has begun. The little Banana Purple Punch is growing and thriving. She's still a bit shy, but that will change soon. We started providing her with nutrients according to the Hy-Pro feeding schedule. The current EC value is 1.2 and a PPFD of 350.
The first two weeks haven't been enough for topping, but in the next few days, she'll undergo a little "beauty treatment."
We're looking forward to next week. 😁

SundancerS The Banana Purple Punch from FastBuds is doing a good job so far, even though its leaf shape leaves us a bit puzzled. It actually fits quite well. A plant with character that stands out a bit from the norm with its shape. Since it's an RF3, we were a little surprised by this peculiarity, but hey: If you don't like surprises, you better not grow plants.
Despite the somewhat adventurous leaves, we decided to give it some structure with topping and LST. After all, it's a "FastBud" and should be able to handle a bit of training easily. And what have we learned? Of course, it grows like lightning, as we know from FastBuds, things move quickly and effectively here.
We're curious to see how this special plant develops further and hope it surprises us with an equally special harvest. So, let's see if it has a few secret talents up its sleeve! 😱

SundancerS The Banana Purple Punch RF3 remains a mysterious little plant in week 4. The leaves are still strange, almost like a plant that has discovered its own style. But don't worry, despite this little eccentricity, it's still growing well and clearly shows that it has potential. The node spacing is short, giving it a nice compact structure. And yes, it is a bit demanding to train, but it's working!
We're expecting pre-flowering soon, but the plant still seems to have some growth urge; a little more stretch could be tolerated. It's not really thirsty, which surprises us a bit, but it makes watering a bit more relaxed. Still, everything looks healthy and stable, and we're excited to see what next week brings! 😶

SundancerS The Banana Purple Punch: It was another wild week, and yes, we know our training monk has gone a bit overboard again. Extreme bondage at its finest, like a plant BDSM of the tougher kind. And because it was so nice, we topped two main stems to restrict lateral growth a bit more. But hey, a FastBud can handle it!
Training her is like a mix of plant yoga and conditioning training, a challenge, but also somehow a huge amount of fun. Sure, she looks a bit battered now, but she's perfectly prepared for the upcoming flowering.
We're excited to see how she does, but we know: She won't disappoint us, the little one knows how to deliver. 😜

SundancerS Okay, the Banana Purple Punch has apparently had enough of "horizontal pushing" and decided to shoot up for a change. In just over a week, she's added almost 20 cm in height. Alright, we got it!!
Still, we had to trim some smaller shoots again. Exactly those candidates that whisper to you during curing: "Next run, you'll cut those little bastards off earlier." So this time we tried to be smarter. Whether we really got them all will probably only be clear in a few weeks. :)
Additionally, we carefully lollipopped her, but with feeling. After all, the lady should still have enough energy to continue building height and structure. Overall, she looks really excellent right now. She's vibrant, strong, and surprisingly stress-resistant. Right after each training, she looks like a plucked chicken going through withdrawal, but two days later, a little princess is back in the tent.
Slowly, the plant is also developing a nice structure, and the overall appearance is becoming more harmonious. The inner monk is now grinning in the corner and nodding in satisfaction.
Especially nice is the dense structure of the plant. Despite the compact growth, there's still enough air and light getting inside, which should definitely be helpful later in flowering. You can just tell that the Banana Purple Auto is eager to grow and is really pushing it right now.💪

SundancerS The Banana Purple Punch is entering its third week of flowering.
At first, we were honestly a bit skeptical because the first rows of leaves looked a bit "strange." Nevertheless, we consistently followed our program, and the Fast Buds has reacted exactly as we had hoped.
Clean spacing, good structure, plenty of air for the upcoming buds, and a nice stretch at 64 cm now. It's actually sitting pretty much exactly where we wanted it to be at this point. Let's see if it continues to hold that position.
A few already larger branches still had to go, though. It always hurts a little bit at this stage, but we just can't deal with a thousand little mini buds during curing. It has already been lightly "lollipopped," and it will probably get its final defoliation in the lower area in about a week.
Right now, we are definitely feeling good about the Banana Purple Punch and are excited to see how it develops in the coming weeks.

SundancerS As already suspected and observed for a while, the Banana Purple Punch clearly aims high. Even for a Fast Bud, the height growth over the last two weeks has been quite extreme in our experience. Now it’s exciting to see if the branches will remain stable enough later to properly support the buds. In our little grow shower, there’s no SCROG net as a safety net, so it needs to build stability on its own. After training and defoliation, it looks a bit worn out at first, as always. A few large sun leaves had to go so that the strongest shoots could be slowed down a bit and more light reaches the plant. Overall, it remains healthy and continues to develop really well. Right now, an exciting phase has been reached where the size, structure, and character of the plant are being determined. Really an interesting genetic and so far a very entertaining grow. 👋

SundancerS The Banana Purple Punch has now reached a good height and seems to be slowly stopping its vertical growth. After the very dynamic last few weeks, the focus is now visibly shifting from stretching to flower development. The structure is set, the main shoots have found their place, and now the phase begins where yield and quality are shaped.
Especially pleasing are the first purple color accents in the flowers. It's still holding back a bit, but the direction is right, and we're excited to see how strong the purpling will be in the coming weeks. With a genetics name like this, a few spectacular colors wouldn't be a bad idea after all.
Aromatically, it’s becoming increasingly interesting. The scent is developing week by week and already makes it clear that there should be quite a bit to expect later on. Health-wise, it continues to present itself flawlessly. It responds very well to nutrient supply, shows strong flower formation, and no signs of stress or deficiencies. Overall, the plant currently appears very balanced. 👻

SundancerS The Banana Purple Punch from Fast Buds is currently causing very mixed feelings. On one hand, it starts to purple beautifully. And this time, it's not the leaves stealing the show, but the buds themselves. They are already shimmering in the most beautiful, sometimes deep dark violet tones, making every check-in a little highlight. It's just fun to watch it, and of course, the curiosity grows about what will come in the next few weeks.
On the other hand, we're a bit worried about its very delicate and thin branches. If it doesn't gain a bit more mass and stability, we'll soon have no choice but to build a little support. The lady is already taking every opportunity to lean on something.
Interestingly, thin branches are not necessarily a bad sign. Some genetics invest significantly more energy in flower mass than in sturdy stems. If you have such candidates in your tent, it's better to think about supports early rather than later panicking and picking buds off the ground.
The aroma is also slowly getting really interesting. A bit of gas, a hint of banana, and some sweet note that can't quite be placed yet. Right now, it feels like a scent puzzle, with more and more pieces falling into place gradually.
By the way, the purple coloring seems to be genetically determined and not triggered by cold temperatures. It's always nice to see, as many growers chase violet colors by lowering night temperatures, while some strains handle it all on their own quite relaxed.
We're excited to see where this journey goes. Visually, it's already delivering well; now the branches just need to learn what their buds seem to have been planning all along.

SundancerS The Banana Purple Punch Auto RF3 has indeed stopped its vertical growth after quite a sporty stretch. What stands out more and more is the incredibly intense red and purple coloring. So far, it is almost exclusively limited to the buds, which is rather unusual, but looks all the more beautiful. Unfortunately, the photos only capture this to a certain extent.
The smell is also developing in an interesting direction. Currently, a rather pronounced gas aroma dominates. It's somewhat surprising for us, but maybe it's just a phase and the banana will make its presence known in the final stretch.
Health-wise, it looks excellent. The leaves are a deep green all the way to the tips, and the plant appears very vigorous overall. As you can see in the pictures, we now have to support it well. The branches are still quite thin, while the buds are becoming more compact. It's been a long time since we had to support a strain like this.
What's interesting is that some plants prefer to invest their energy in flower mass rather than branch strength. That's exactly what it looks like here right now. It's not a big deal, but it did surprise us a bit with an RF3 genetics.
We're slowly heading into the home stretch and are curious about what the last weeks will bring.

SundancerS A rather calm grow week for the Banana Purple Punch Auto RF3. Despite the high temperatures, it shows no signs of stress and is surprisingly relaxed about the current heatwave. The buds are getting heavier, stickier, and are now really nice and hard day by day. This is exactly how you envision the final stretch. However, the branches continue to be their little weak point. Stability doesn't seem to be one of their greatest talents, and that probably won't change. Thanks to the bamboo support, it's standing quite well and is perfectly prepared for the final sprint.
Also, the smell is stepping it up again. Along with the already known gas aroma, a bitter, hard-to-define note has joined in. It almost feels like it's trying to keep us curious until the end :)
If you look closely, you can already see the first signs of autumn. But there should still be a bit of time left. 😘

SundancerS Another week with the Banana Purple Punch Auto RF3 and we’re slowly approaching the finale. Against the heatwave of the last few days, only a few growers really had a chance. Here in the attic, temperatures were consistently over 30 degrees for a long time. Not exactly the dream climate for late flowering.
The high temperatures have visibly accelerated the ripening. The trichomes are increasingly turning amber, and that’s why there’s only pH-adjusted water from this week on.
The incredibly compact and heavy buds continue to stand out. However, this is pushing the plant to its limits. The branches are simply overwhelmed by the weight, and without support, it would have collapsed by now.
Now it’s time to stay patient and give it the last few days.
The final stretch is on, and we’re excited to see what ends up in the jar.😜

SundancerS After a good 9 days with exclusively pH-adjusted water, the Banana Purple Punch Auto RF3 is showing exactly the hoped-for reaction. It's maturing beautifully and drawing the last nutrients from its leaves. This creates a great contrast that highlights its colors especially well.
What's particularly exciting is how the interplay of genetics and cooler night temperatures becomes noticeable in the last days of flowering. The purple hues are becoming more intense day by day, while the buds continue to swell and the resin layer appears denser. It's during this phase that the strain shows its unique character once again.
Unfortunately, the electronics of modern cameras and smartphones try to correct the colors through automatic white balance. As a result, the intense purple tones in photos don't look as impressive as they do in reality. However, the pictures can still convey a small impression.
We're now in the final stretch; in a few days, the banana will be harvested and will then go into jars.

Now it's finally in the jars, and we can look back on a really exciting grow. We were particularly curious about this strain, especially the RF3 version. We've had many good experiences with Fast Buds, so our expectations were quite high.
The first weeks went almost perfectly. Beautiful node spacing, vigorous growth, healthy leaves, and a good upward drive quickly made us eager for more. However, during the stretch, she surprised us a bit and pushed harder than we expected. At the same time, she began to showcase her greatest strength: the color. Early on, the first purple tones appeared, and with each week, the purple intensified. To be honest, we had never had a plant with such a rich purple in the tent. Visually, she was undoubtedly an absolute highlight, and it seems that Fast Buds focused on this aspect with the RF3 line.
Unfortunately, the impressive appearance came at the expense of stability. As the flower mass increased, the branches became more overwhelmed, and in the last weeks, the plant had to be generously supported. Without help, hardly any branch would have stood upright. She had an intense aroma of fruity and gassy notes that really made us look forward to the harvest during the flowering stage.
All in all, it can be said that the Banana Purple Punch RF3 is a plant with good genetics and is also well-suited for less experienced growers.
However, it didn't quite meet our expectations. Especially because of the big RF3 hype, we expected a slightly more complete plant that not only impressed with spectacular colors but also with a more stable structure. Fast Buds has delivered strains in the past that provided a more rounded overall package for us.
Therefore, the RF3 remains primarily in our memory as a beautiful, deep purple plant that, in our view, was still a bit short of perfection.

@SundancerS It’s great that you already had us on your radar! The truth is that receiving this recognition from someone who already knows our work and the diaries is the most valuable thing for us. We are excited to share our experience and, above all, to learn alongside a professional grower.
As you have seen in the follow-ups, we like to step a bit outside the commercial norm. Instead of using the usual brands, we focus on stoichiometry to create our own signature nutrition. By formulating from scratch with mineral salts, we have total control over the plant's physiology, especially with basic elicitation protocols (using molecules like chitosan and salicylic acid) to naturally trigger resin production.

@Salokin Hi, thanks for the info and your effort. This is definitely more of an experiment. Going into the entire thought process would be a bit too much here, but to explain briefly:
Fertilization plans are usually more tailored to photoperiod plants. With autos, everything happens a bit faster, meaning the "photo" fertilizer plan often kicks in a bit too late in our opinion. Although we are not primarily focused on the PK boost right now, we want to test the other properties of Green Sensation that Plagron always announces as big and somewhat "mysterious."
We are intentionally running a borderline higher EC, along with full CalMag and two bloom boosters. In our opinion, this only works with autos that are really healthy. Weaker or sick plants would probably be overwhelmed by this immediately.
As mentioned: We hope for a little boost during this phase. Worst case would be that they show signs of over-fertilization in a few days and we have to dial it back again.
Whether this will actually work out well in the end, we don't know yet, as mentioned: experimentation phase :)

@SundancerS, trying is always better than studying, just thought I’d mention it since green sensation isn’t exactly cheap. I don’t want to come off as a know-it-all, just trying to help you save a bit of money. If it works, why not? I’ve also gotten some autoflowering seeds sponsored so I can do a few tests myself. I've only been growing photo regs for almost two years now. Since summer is hopefully coming, I’ll put out a few autos and have some fun myself ;). Your plants all look great! Keep it up. @Irrai, Thank you! Yeah, she's currently just under 90cm, so there's still some room for growth. She has about 2 weeks left, but I don't think she'll get any taller. 😀

@Growingdaddyo, Thanks, the bud color is really amazing. In reality, it's even more beautiful than in the photo. We're a bit puzzled as to why it's quite unstable and hope it settles down. An RF3 should stand "stabler." 😬
