White Biscotti OG XXL. Week 0 - Presoaking

GoodWeedBerlin After my Cherry Bacio Diary, I was (as I have been many times over the last 35 years) so impressed with Sensi Seeds, and Sensi Seeds was also pleased with the presentation of their genetics, that we thought it would be a good idea for me to introduce a few more Sensi genetics here. Thank you very much to @SensiSeeds for this opportunity. Let's start with the White Biscotti OG XXL. Biscotti is my number 1 when it comes to dessert terps, and the WIFI OG sounds like an OG variant dressed in glitter. If the genetics hold up even halfway to what my imagination makes of this mix, I have a sleeper on my hands - it's incredible that there isn't a diary for this yet. I started with a round of soaking in a glass of water (8-12 hours), and after a little tap, it sank and released one air bubble. Ready to sprout. From the glass, it went straight into the soil. When I germinate old seeds, I like to do an extra round in a kitchen towel, but with trustworthy fresh seeds, I don't need that extra step. 48 hours later, the White Biscotti OG XXL saw the light of the world (currently the Viparspectra at 25% and over 40 cm tall). While the little one grows in fresh Biobizz Lightmix, there has also been a 15-liter pot with used but upgraded Lightmix (worm soil, coco + Rhiza, rock dust, silicates, shredded stems, and sugar leaves from the last harvests, and a chopped + washed banana peel, half dose of silicates) sitting for a few days. A few red clover seeds have also germinated in there. I will keep the soil moist for the next 2-3 weeks as if there were a plant in it, so that the soil life can "settle in" until repotting.

GoodWeedBerlin The first week of growth is over, the little plant is healthy and developing normally. Yesterday, I gave a light Atami VGN mix for the rooting phase for the first time (just 80ml). The piece of garden wire that's stuck in the soil next to the plant is currently just a placeholder. I don't like to poke into the young roots when I really need a support (or LST help) that stands close to the plant. So, I'm keeping a small tunnel clear for that.

GoodWeedBerlin A lively and healthy White Biscotti OG is entering its 3rd week. The leaf shape shows the typical thickness of leaf fingers for Indica dominance. The green coloration is rather on the lighter side. To have a resilient plant during repotting, there was also a subtle top dressing with silicate. The plant accepted that just as well as the earlier Atami VGN mix. The move to the final 15-liter pot will happen sometime next week.

GoodWeedBerlin After 3 weeks, the White Biscotti OG has developed nicely. Healthy, no fuss, and vibrant. In the last few days, I had to forgo optimizing the humidity since my tent with the ripe buds is right next door. But the young lady has handled the dry air without any issues. The transplanting into the 15-liter final pot went smoothly. I removed the two cotyledons and the leaves + shoots of the first node. I will probably also take off leaves and shoots from the 2nd node. The goal for the overall structure of the plant is 8 main shoots after topping, so the cut above the 6th node is due in the next few days. The nodes are spaced further apart than in all my previous grows, which I currently see as a positive. I saw pictures of an untopped White Biscotti, and the main shoot seemed too long to work with LST on a 40x40 and skip the topping.

GoodWeedBerlin In the last week, quite a bit has happened. I removed leaves and shoots of the 2nd node and topped the plant after the 6th node. It caused her a little shock, but after 24 hours she has already grown happily again. The move from the kitchen setup with the Viparspectra p600 (at the end at 50%, so about 45 watts) to the Caluma tent (currently 75 watts at about 66%/50 watts) went smoothly. I wanted to try out whether I could do without the fan in the first 3 weeks - I would say yes, at least in my kitchen setup (there is always some air movement). Now in the tent, a PC fan blows from bottom to top and another one just below the lamp. In general, the plant looks very stable, grows exemplary and very symmetrically.. No mutations or abnormalities (in a good way), but healthy, quite evenly distributed growth. The larger node distances ensure that the White Biscotti OG makes quite a few centimeters. Next week I have to leave her alone for a few days, I hope she can control her height growth a bit. I will contribute with a round of LST.

GoodWeedBerlin The White Biscotti OG has reached the flowering stage. After exactly 5 weeks of growth, I switched the light to 12/12 (at 100% from the Caluma 75 W LED) last week. The symmetrical and upward growth made it necessary to use the net (which I actually wanted to do without in this run). At the upper node, I had to remove the two large sun sails. The shade didn't bother too much; it was more a measure to stop the two shoots at the top node. The 8 shoots have spread slightly over the 40x40 cm (or can be spread), the plant endures quite a bit of training without complaints and remains otherwise completely healthy. No deficiencies or over-fertilization, no pests, and it casually handles changes in temperature and humidity.

GoodWeedBerlin The stretch of the plant is not easy to handle in the 40x40cm tent. The length and width are definitely above average, even pronounced, during the stretch. A bit of a crown shape has formed, with 8 spikes all around and a few secondary shoots in the middle. I switched the Atami VGN mix to "early bloom phase," and the plant is starting to build its pistils. Everything else is healthy and vigorous in growth. A faint smell is also slowly mixing into the tent, but it's still too weak to really classify it.

GoodWeedBerlin After being away for 5 days and leaving the automatic watering system in charge, I found a further stretched (expected) but unfortunately also hermaphroditic White Biscotti OG XXL waiting for me here. In the upper third of the plant, I didn’t find any bananas, but there were plenty on the lower branches. I cut off the entire branches there; if it doesn’t hermie further, I can live with that - it was just a bit more extensive lollipopping. The 8 main colas were far from the hermaphroditic flowers, and only 2 pollen sacs opened down low. That shouldn’t destroy the entire harvest. I can live with a few seeds. The plant is not a complete hermaphrodite; it’s not new that I have a hermie risk with Gelato lines under stress. Since I didn’t stress the plant (at least consciously) much besides topping and only slightly low-stressed it, I would say it experienced stress at the moment it registered its limitation to 40x40 cm. Everything that grew later is free of bananas. The stretch was massive; it’s the tallest plant I’ve grown in this setup so far. It’s still completely healthy and developing nice buds. The stretch is slowly stopping. The Atami VGN flowering mix for the main flowering phase has been in use since yesterday.

GoodWeedBerlin The last week has made everything better again. The plant's stretch has calmed down (still the tallest plant I've had in the tent), so there should be enough space in the tent without having to reinstall the ventilation and the carbon filter. No new male flowers have appeared. So they were quite clearly a stress reaction. I might have also created a small light leak with the hose for watering that I ran through the zipper. The plant is still healthy and developing many flowers. The trichome formation took a long time, but it's slowly getting into gear now. Not necessarily a disadvantage, as it provides a bit more homogeneity in ripeness for the harvest. The smell has increased a bit, but it's not strongly pronounced yet. At the moment, it's more gassy and less sweet.

GoodWeedBerlin The stretch of the plant has finally stopped. The buds are gaining mass; they may not be the fastest, but they are developing a nice and healthy structure. As with the entire growth pattern, the sativa influence is clearly recognizable in the spearhead bud shape. The medium dosage of the Atami VGN flowering mix is still fitting. What I initially perceived as a slightly gassy smell has strongly developed towards floral. It doesn't remind me of a specific flower variety, but somewhere between tulips, roses, and elderflower (for the sweet accent that has been present since today). Trichome formation is progressing, but here too, as with the entire bud growth, it is evident that it is more of a 10-week rather than an 8-week flower. Since the day before yesterday, the first hairs are turning brown.

GoodWeedBerlin The calyxes are starting to swell, brown hairs are found sporadically up to the tips, the plant is not gaining height - the beginning of the ripening phase. Accordingly, since today there is the medium Atami VGN ripening mixture. Furthermore, a healthy plant, so far no problems with pests, deficiencies, or over-fertilization. Stable genetics. Compared to other Gelato crosses, the trichome formation is progressing slowly. It is noticeable that the stalks of the trichomes are very short. In the tent itself, there is still a floral smell. Directly at the plant, I have so far little smell and no clear note.

GoodWeedBerlin The ripening process is in full swing, the calyxes are swelling, more and more hairs are turning brown, and the thirst is decreasing. Proper crop steering definitely involves more than just the right nutrient application, but the Atami VGN line feels more like a steering wheel than most other nutrient lines I've used so far. The ripening process has quickly picked up speed since switching to the ripening mix. It's still noticeable that the trichomes have short stems. There are very few on the leaves - for a while, I was a bit worried that trichome production was lagging somewhere. However, deeper inside the buds, it looks good. At the moment, I see the harvest window opening in 2 weeks, which means one more week of ripening mix and then just water. However, the temperatures are rising sharply right now, and I have hardly any chance to cool the tent. This might have short-term effects on the harvest timing. The floral scent has taken on a creamy vanilla note, which even dominates right at the plant. The Biscotti is definitely coming through.

GoodWeedBerlin The heat in Germany is at an all-time record level, and above my apartment is just the roof space. Without air conditioning and the additional energy that comes with it (more watts than the light), I have no chance of staying below 30 degrees in here. The light is dimmed to about 75% (which is around 55 W), and the tent is mostly open during the day. When I close the tent, the humidity inside goes up. To have as many 40% phases and fewer 60% phases as possible, a fan blows into the open tent. The buds have become so big and dense that I have to keep an eye on bud rot. It's a hardcore summer grow. I think the terpene hunt will be more for the next plant. I remember that the Biscotti I grew before really found their smell and taste only after drying and curing. What's there remains floral and sweet, less gassy or fruity. Today, it received the Atami VGN mix for the last time. If it gets cooler and the plant still has enough vitality and not too much amber, it might get a little something again. Otherwise, from now on, just water for 7-14 days.

GoodWeedBerlin The lady has reached her final days. For the past week, it’s been nothing but pure water, and as a result, the few leaves have taken on a clean fade into yellow and then (partially) fallen off. She has survived the heatwave but has shown the typical and expected reactions: she has developed some foxtails and produced fewer terpenes (or lost many). She is only really vibrant in the foxtails; the hard-to-inspect trichomes (the full coverage starts deeper in the dense buds) also look close to ripe. Harvest is in the next few days.

Happy Harvest Day!

White Biscotti OG XXL Sensi Seeds

This is probably my heaviest harvest entry here so far. First off: I'm not someone who writes fake reviews, but I'm also not someone who wants to say anything negative about my partners. Accordingly, I consulted with Sensi Seeds, and my offer was to simply skip the harvest report. "Keep it real" seems to be a motto of Sensi Seeds as well, so I'm not upsetting anyone there with the truth - thanks for that. I noticed the short trichome stems early on. Of course, I also noticed that the trichome formation was below average, but I didn't want to admit that to myself during the run. It was a summer grow, which surely didn't help the quality. But the killer for the pheno or chemotype I got here lies in the genetics. It's as if a Biscotti was crossed with an industrial hemp plant. A hint of Biscotti is present in the aroma and taste, but there's no trace of the WIFI OG. Not a single leaf on the whole plant had trichome formation. The buds themselves were covered with a layer of short-stemmed trichomes, but 1-2 levels of trichomes were consistently missing. After trimming the plant, I didn't have sticky fingers, and I didn't have to clean the scissors even once in between. The taste is a hint of Biscotti and nothing else. The high is noticeable but subtle, and after 45 minutes, it's gone again. At best, 10% THC, probably less. I'll save a few buds for myself - as a daytime smoke, it's not too bad. But it's far from what I expected. The harvest amount looked visually more than it really was due to the lack of resin content. With 1.24 g/Watt, it shares the last place of my GD grows with the BCN Critical Auto. It was a vital and beautiful plant, and I can well imagine that other pheno or chemotypes would deliver great results both qualitatively and quantitatively. For that, it gets 5 out of 10 points from me. Back in the 2000s, I had a Northern Lights pheno that was similar for me. However, there were 3 perfect plants in that same grow. So I could be very sure back then that it was a genetic defect and not my fault. I miss that comparison here - so it could also be that I made a mistake somewhere. I can't blame it solely on the summer grow - I've had too many summer grows with pretty good results.
