Playbook for next year
1. Genetics & Location
Choose mold-resistant genetics – especially important for the humid northern German climate.
05.05.: Smart Start
Then into the organic pot.
26.05.: outside, around week 3 and only when night temperatures are warm enough.
Pots are in the tomato greenhouse.
Light shading with a net.
2. Pot & Substrate
Zamnesia Smart Start mini pots for the start.
Then into the organic pot, which is placed in a clay pot.
No further repotting.
Grow or tomato soil as a base.
Horn shavings for organic nutrient supply.
Clay balls for drainage and air circulation.
Zamnesia Monster Bud mix for pre-fertilized soil (packaging instructions)
3. Fertilizer & pH
Fertilizer consistently according to plan.
Use the designated Monster Bud Boost Pack scheme. (From mixing the soil)
Measure the pH of the watering water and correct with citric acid if necessary – do not dose universally.
4. Plant Protection
Beneficial insects against aphids.
Slug pellets against slugs.
Regular checks of the plants.
5. Flowering & Mold Management
Harvest goal: week 13–14.
Daily mold checks towards the end of flowering.
Especially check:
between and under the buds
inside dense flowers
under the pots or in the moist area below
In case of increased mold risk, complete defoliation.
Without concrete mold risk, prefer wet trim to allow for slower drying.
6. Harvest & Drying
Harvest generally in week 13/14.
Required equipment:
Magnifying glass to check the trichome heads (goal milky/amber)
Harvest scissors
Isopropanol for cleaning/disinfecting the scissors
Scale – definitely document the harvest amount.
Drying in the shed for 8–14 days.
Control temperature and relative humidity, rather than just going by days.
Ready when the branches snap. rather 2 days earlier.
Only into jars when the material has reached a suitable moisture level; target value: 62%.
At the beginning of the curing phase, ventilate the jars multiple times a day, later reduce frequency.
7. Documentation
Document every grow:
Focus
Pot size
Fertilizer
Weather/temperature
Notable observations and mold
Weight after curing
Process:
Smart Start → organic pot → clay pot → tomato soil/horn shavings/clay balls → 26.05. into the tomato greenhouse → light shading → fertilizer + pH according to plan → plant protection → mold control → defoliation in case of mold risk → harvest week 13/14 → 8–14 days controlled drying → 62%-jar → frequent ventilation at the beginning → curing → weight/yield documentation.
