TheCalyxLaboratory Germination Week: The Gassy One ๐โฝ
The Calyx Laboratory is officially back with a new project! This time, weโre popping "The Gassy One" from the legendary Super Sativa Seed Club. Known for its intense fuel-diesel aroma and heavy-hitting sativa-hybrid effects, Iโm excited to see what this one brings to the table.
The Plan:
For this run, Iโm moving away from soil and going full performance:
โข System: AutoPot System for consistent irrigation.
โข Medium: 50/50 Coco-Perlite mix for maximum aeration.
โข Nutrients: Switching to the Athena blended line to keep those mineral levels precision-tuned.
โข Oxygen: AirDomes are ready to pump that root zone with O2!
Current Status:
Great news from the lab: Both seeds have successfully germinated! They are looking incredibly strong and healthy right out of the gate. With the taproots established and the vigor looking on point, we are officially moving from the germination phase into the start of this gassy journey.
Everything is sanitized, the environment is dialed in, and the girls are ready to perform.
Stay tuned for updates as we kick off this high-performance grow. ๐๐

TheCalyxLaboratory The Gassy One - End of Week 2 ๐ฟ
A Smooth Transition for the Gassy Gal! ๐๐ฑ
This week marks the end of Week 2 for 'The Gassy One', and things are progressing beautifully! โจ Hereโs a quick rundown of how we wrapped up the week and set the stage for explosive growth. ๐ฅ
Nutrient Management (Week 2): Throughout the week, we maintained a steady feeding regimen. Our nutrient solution was mixed to a consistent EC of 1.0, with the pH held perfectly stable at 5.8. ๐ง This kept the plant happy and healthy. As we moved closer to the end of the week, 'The Gassy One' began to show minor signs of hunger, indicated by a slightly paler shade of greenโwhich was our cue to prepare for the next phase! ๐ฝ๏ธ
The Big Move (Today): ๐ก To maximize her potential, we executed a successful transplant! Today, 'The Gassy One' found her final home in a spacious 7.5-liter AutoPot system. The original root system was dense and robust (the root picture is an absolute classic! ๐ฎ๐ช), filling the starter cup and clearly screaming for more room to roam. The transplant was seamless, and she seems already at ease in her new environment. ๐ฐโก
Post-Transplant Care: ๐ฟ Immediately following the transplant, we administered a hearty watering-in nutrient solution. Taking her obvious hunger cues and that massive, healthy root ball into account, we dialed this initial feeding up to a stouter EC of 1.4! ๐ฅ This generous dose of nutrients, coupled with the ample rooting space, provides 'The Gassy One' with the ultimate fuel she needs to aggressively explore her new medium and bounce back from any transplant stress with pure vigor! ๐๐
Environment: โ๏ธ The plant is now basking under the brand new Mars Hydro FC 3000 EVO, which is providing a perfect light intensity of 300 PPFD (at about 50 cm distance, dimmed). ๐ก This ensures optimal light delivery without overwhelming her at this stage. Temperature and humidity levels remain absolutely spot on! ๐ก๏ธโ๏ธ
With the root system poised to conquer the AutoPot and a heavy meal to fuel her, we are expecting some serious vegetative growth over the next few days! ๐ The AirDome system will be activated in about a week, which will surely bring some real fireworks! ๐ Stay tuned for more updates! ๐ฌ๐ฟ

TheCalyxLaboratory Weekly Grow Log: "The Gassy One" (Phases & Progress) ๐โก
This week was an absolute milestone for "The Gassy One"! ๐ The plants have officially settled into their new home and are ready to rock. We had a tiny bit of drama after the transplant, but the mรคdels handled it like absolute champs and are now showing excellent turgor and some massive, vibrant green leaves! ๐ฟ๐ช
Key Actions & Parameter Updates: ๐ ๏ธ๐
1 Manual Feeding & CalMag Recovery: ๐ง?
Action: Done right once by hand to fully saturate the coco and ensure the roots get exactly what they need.
The Hiccup: Noticed a slight CalMag deficiency right after the transplant ๐ก๏ธ, but fixed it immediately with a clean feed.
Parameters: Feed EC: 1.3 | pH: 5.8 | Drain: ~10% ๐
Observation: The 10% drain confirmed the medium chemistry is beautifully balanced now, and the deficiency is fully locked down! ๐ค
2 Transplant Recovery & Mutant Vibes! ๐ (T+10 Days):
Status: Today marks exactly 10 days post-transplant. The root system has officially conquered the pot! ๐ฅ
Special Lab Note: One of the ladies seems to have a cool slight genetic mutation (panaschiert/variegated style) ๐จ. We are keeping a close eye on this unique look while she continues to push strong new growth! โจ
3 AutoPot & AirDome System: FULLY ACTIVATED! ๐and Action!
Status: As of today, the training wheels are off. The AutoPot valves are open, and the AirDomes are officially buzzing! ๐จ Bottom-feeding is live, and the roots are getting a non-stop oxygen party. This is where the real explosive growth begins! ๐๐ฅ
4 Reservoir Preparation: ๐ฏ
Tank Feed: Filled up the main reservoir with a fresh, juicy mix.
Parameters: Reservoir EC: 1.5 ๐ฅ | pH: 5.8 ๐ฏ
Target: Stepping it up to EC 1.5 to feed that post-transplant hunger and fuel the massive upcoming vegetative explosion.
5 Environmental Optimization: โ๏ธclima
PPFD: The average light intensity across the canopy is dialed in perfectly at 420 mu mol/m^2/s ๐ก.
Status: Absolute sweet spot! Not too intense for our unique mutant lady, but with plenty of horsepower to help the plants process that rich EC 1.5 diet. ๐๏ธ๐จ
Summary Outlook: ๐ฎ๐ฟ
"The Gassy One" is in absolute prime position right now! Roots are fully established, the tank is fresh, and the AirDomes are pumping maximum life into the coco. Get ready for some serious jungle vibes in the tent next week! ๐ด๐๐

TheCalyxLaboratory Week Update: Absolute Growth Explosion! ๐๐ฑ
We are officially at the end of the vegetative stage, and honestly, the growth rate in this setup is nothing short of crazy! ๐คฏ The Super Sativa Seed Club (SSSC) genetics of The Gassy One are showing their true power. These girls are ridiculously vigorous, pushing out massive, thick fan leaves and branching beautifully. ๐ฅ
Iโve finally tucked them under the ScrOG net to manage the canopy in my 60x60cm space, and they are reacting perfectly. Every single shoot is already aiming straight back up for the light! ๐บ๏ธ๐
A massive shoutout to Athena Nutrients โ the clean, stable run with their line is paying off big time! ๐ The root zone is incredibly happy, and the plants have that vibrant, healthy glow that every grower wants to see. Combined with the AutoPot sub-irrigation system and AirDomes, itโs a hands-free turbo engine right now. ๐๏ธ๐จ
๐ Environment & Reservoir Stats this week:
๐ก Light: Dialed in at a crisp 500 PPFD
๐ EC: Sitting stable at 1.5
๐ฏ pH: Perfectly anchored at 5.9
We are letting the canopy settle for just another 2โ3 days, and then itโs officially time to flip the switch to 12/12! โณ๐ The tent is already packed, and the stretch is going to be absolutely wild. Stay tuned! ๐ฟ

TheCalyxLaboratory Week 1 of Flower is officially in the books! ๐ธ๐
The stretch has started and the girls are looking absolutely massive and healthy! ๐ฟ๐ฅ Honestly, I'm completely blown away by the genetics so far โ the structure and vigor are just amazing! โจ
Big upgrade this week: I finally installed the 150mm light baffle for the intake. The AC Infinity fan is breathing much easier now, and the overall airflow in the tent has improved massively. Exactly what I needed to combat the summer heat! ๐ฌ๏ธโ๏ธ
Current stats are locked in perfectly:
EC: 1.7 ๐ฏ
pH: 5.8
PPFD: ~650 under the Mars Hydro ๐ก
I really have to shout out the Athena Blended Line here โ the pH and EC stability in the reservoir is just insane! ๐ It stays rock solid for 7 days. In combination with the AutoPot system, the plant performance is just next level. The growth speed and vitality are absolutely crazy, they are loving this setup! ๐ฅฅ๐๏ธ๐จ
The canopy is filling up the scrog net nicely. Iโll keep a close eye on the humidity over the next few days, and then itโs almost time for a proper defoliation in week 3 to keep that airflow moving. โ๏ธ
Let's see how much they stretch next week! ๐โฝโ๏ธ

TheCalyxLaboratory Week 2 of Flower: Absolute Power Mode & Defoliation Day ๐๐ฟ๐
Welcome back to the Lab! ๐ฌ We are officially wrapping up Week 2 of flower, and things are getting absolutely insane inside the testing facility! ๐ฅ "The Gassy One" is running on pure high-octane fuel right now, pushing all genetic limits with a massive, aggressive growth spurt! ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐จ
Growth & The Great Stretch ๐๐
The plant vitality is completely unmatched! ๐ช These ladies are throwing down serious node growth on a daily basis. ๐ฟ Since we are dealing with a heavily performing, vigorous hybrid, the internal hormone shift is causing an absolute explosion in height and canopy expansion! ๐ The stems are getting beautifully thick, and they are begging for the light. ๐ At the exact end of this week, we hit the perfect sweet spot to finally strip them down and unleash their full potential! โ๏ธโก
The Defoliation Ritual & Stress Management โ๏ธ๐๐ต๏ธโโ๏ธ
With the tent packing out completely from wall to wall, it was time for a heavy, calculated cleanup! ๐ก๏ธ We went in and executed a radical defoliation and lollipoppen to open up the entire structure. ๐ณ
The Goal: Getting that pristine, intense light from the Mars Hydro all the way down to the lower nodes, maximizing micro-climate airflow, and keeping the environment perfectly dialed in! ๐ช๏ธ๐ฏ
Quick Check: During the cleanup, I meticulously inspected the node junctions under the dense foliage. ๐ Spotted a couple of micro-hermie signs (tiny 0.5mm pollen sacks) hidden deep down due to the extreme stretch stress. ๐ Caught them early at a completely immature stage, neutralized them instantly with water, and plucked them off. ๐ฆ Everything is perfectly safe, clean, and back on a pure female track! ๐ฉโโ๏ธโจ
Nutrition & Environmental Metrics ๐ฅฅโ๏ธ๐ง
The Athena Ag Blended Line combined with the automated AutoPot System is proving once again why itโs a commercial-tier cheat code! ๐ The root zone is chugging nutrients nonstop, maintaining beautiful, deep, vibrant green leaf colors, and the foliage is actively "praying" to the light! ๐โ๏ธ
Here are the exact laboratory specs for this week:
EC: 1.8 โก (Feeding heavy to match the massive stretch demands!)
pH: 5.7 (Perfectly stabilized for optimal hydro/coco nutrient uptake!)
PPFD: 700 ยตmol/mยฒ/s ๐ก (Pure photon power dialing in the energy!)
No real pistil explosions just yet, as the plants are currently dedicating 100% of their energy into building the ultimate structural frame. ๐๏ธ Once this furious stretch slows down over the next few days, we are expecting a massive breakout of white hairs and the first real bud formations! โ๏ธ๐ฎ
Stay tuned, the lab is locked, loaded, and ready to dominate Week 3! ๐ฌ๐ฅ๐

TheCalyxLaboratory The Gassy One - Flower Week 3 Update ๐
Welcome to Week 3 of flower! Things are going absolutely crazy in the tent right now!๐ธ๐
๐ This Week's Stats:
EC: 1.8 ๐ง
pH: 5.7
Light (PPFD): 900 for the big lady / 650 for the smaller one โ๏ธ
๐ The Challenge: The Crazy Stretch
Our biggest challenge this week is managing the massive height difference in our AutoPot setup. Our absolute favorite (the big plant) is stretching like a monster, pushing upwards by up to 5 cm (2 inches) per day! ๐ Because of this massive vertical growth, she is soaking up 900 PPFD, while the smaller girl is sitting at around 650 PPFD.
๐จ Environment & Maintenance
The summer heat is hitting hard , and getting the humidity down has been quite a struggle. To tackle this, I installed a second fan to keep the airflow moving steadily under the canopy. ๐ I also went in for another heavy round of defoliation โ๏ธ to open up the canopy, let the plants breathe, and help drop that RH.
๐ง Setup Performance
I have to say, the setup is performing like a dream. The Athena nutrients are delivering outstanding results, and the pH/EC values in the 47-liter (12-gallon) reservoir remain rock solid. ? The combination of the Athena line and the AutoPot system is producing unbelievable, explosive growth. ๐ฑ๐ฅ
Can't wait to see these buds swell up in the next few weeks! ๐ฅ๐ฟ

TheCalyxLaboratory The Gassy One - Flower Update ๐
What an exciting week for The Gassy One! The plants are looking beautiful and we made some really interesting discoveries.
๐ This Week's Stats:
EC: 1.95 ๐ง
pH: 5.7
Light (PPFD): 900 โ๏ธ
A Little Breeding Project
This week, I decided to pollinate one specific bud with some Karel's Herer Haze pollen. I am super excited to see what kind of magic this cross will produce!
โ๏ธ Canopy Management & Environment
I went in for another round of defoliation. The main goal was to lower the relative humidity (RH) in the tent and to make sure the developing buds get maximum light exposure. It really opened things up perfectly.
๐ The Underdog Catching Up
Great news on the canopy front: the smaller plant has caught up really well this week and is filling out nicely. The height difference is much easier to manage now.
๐ฝ Fascinating Mutations
I also spotted some very interesting genetic mutations on this strain! For example, there is actual bud growth forming directly on the center of some fan leaves (leaf buds). Nature is just crazy, absolutely fascinating to watch! ๐ฑ๐ฅ

TheCalyxLaboratory Weekly Update: The Gassy One is crushing it! ๐
This week has been absolute madnessโwe are seeing massive, explosive bud growth across the entire canopy! ๐โจ
Current Setup & Metrics:
pH: 5.7 ๐ง
EC: 2.1
PPFD: 1000 ๐ก
What's happening this week?
The plant is handling the high-intensity environment like a true champion. We are witnessing massive bud growth day by day, and with plenty of weeks still ahead of us, she has so much more room to pack on weight. ๐ฒ
The smell on this thing is fire!๐ฅ Like a sour lemon or lime zest gas station, awesome and unique.โฝ๏ธ๐โ?๐
A cool mutation/growth note: Some of the leaves are starting to develop quite large and chunky buds directly on them, looking frosty and stacked. โ๏ธ
Everything is dialed in perfectly at 1000 PPFD and 2.1 EC. Let's see how much thicker these colas can get!

TheCalyxLaboratory Weekly Update: The Gassy One is blowing up! ๐
We are wrapping up an insane week, and this plant is absolute madness! ๐๐ฅ
Current Setup & Metrics (This Week):
pH: 5.6 ๐ง
EC: 2.2 (Shifting down to 1.9 EC starting today as we head past the end of week 5!) ๐
What's happening this week?
The plant looks massive, the buds are swelling up like crazy, and the terps are next-level! She stinks to high heaven with a sharp, pungent diesel and haze aromaโhands down the best smell I've ever had on a plant, completely indescribable. โฝ๏ธ๐ฟ
After a close inspection today, Iโd give her roughly 3 weeks left (maximum) before harvest. I am beyond hyped to see how this turns out! โ๏ธโ๏ธ

TheCalyxLaboratory End of Week 7 โ The Ripening Phase Begins! โ๏ธ๐
We are slowly cruising down the home stretch! Reaching the end of Week 7, the tent is looking absolute top-tierโthe buds are packing on serious density, and resin production is running at full throttle. Time to adjust the parameters step-by-step to optimize the final ripening process.
Current Values & Adjustments This Week:
Lighting (PPFD): To ease the plants into their final phase and prevent stress, light intensity was dropped down from higher levels to 800 to 600 PPFD.
Light Cycle: The photoperiod was reduced by 1 hour to simulate the late-summer transition.
EC Level: Successfully brought down from 1.9 to 1.2 this week. We will drop it even lower next week to slowly flush out the medium.
pH Level: Stable at 5.8 in the coco medium.
A Look Inside the Lab (What the Photos & Videos Show):
As visible in the latest media, the setup inside the AutoPot system with the perlite top-layer is running rock-steady. The colas are cleanly trained, well-supported, and allow for excellent airflow through the lower canopy. The buds show a dense, compact structure accompanied by heavy pre-resin frosting, while the entire canopy enjoys a beautifully even light distribution.
The final sprint is underway. Next week, weโll scale down the nutrients further and prep everything for the grand finale! ๐ฟโจ

TheCalyxLaboratory The Final Stretch: Heavyweights & The Big Flush! โฝ๐ฅ
We are officially in the final countdown, and the tent is putting on a spectacular show! The plants are spending their absolute last energy packing density and resin onto these colas, and it shows.
Current Parameters & Adjustments:
Nutrients (EC): Iโve been gradually tapering off the feed, and the EC is now down to a very clean 0.75. We are in the final flushing phase, letting the plants cannibalize their remaining stored nutrients for the smoothest, cleanest burn possible.
Lighting (PPFD): Dropped the light intensity down to ~500 PPFD. This crucial step protects those precious, highly volatile terpenes from the summer heat and perfectly mimics the late-season sun to push the final ripening.
Current Status in the Tent:
The biggest update this week? Gravity is taking its toll! The buds have gotten so incredibly dense and heavy that the branches can no longer support their own weight. The colas are literally leaning and flopping over across the tent. Itโs an absolute beautiful mess and arguably the best "problem" a grower can have at this stage!
Looking Ahead:
Based on the current trichome development, we are looking at about 5 to 7 days left before harvest. Just keeping the airflow dialed in on maximum and monitoring them daily now until the big chop. Let's finish strong! โ๏ธ๐ฟโ๏ธ
@XoticGROW666 thank you mate.
These buds are on steroids, we got 3 weeks left, i think we get here some baseball bats at the end ๐ชI really recommend the Athena Blended line with this autopot setup. Its like cheating ๐
You'll want to place the net about double the height of yours plants as you serve them into flower, it's during the flower stretch where you'll need to bend and tuck them under there
@Fruitgrower thanks for the tip, I use the net, to push the big leaves done at the moment, the lower brances need the light boost. I will raise the height of the net in the next weeks step by step.
Interesting your usage of Athena in this soil mix as you described! I'll actually try the same in some months, but mixing with Organic nutrients (mineral + organic work well for me with Advanced Nutrients)
@GreenEldritchGardens thank you for your comment. I will follow your grow to see the results! The reason i switch to mineral nurtie and coco/perlite/ is that my tank stay clean and the plants will grow faster and bigger in a short time, for maxing out yields and efficiency. The results i saw with athena were insane. Keep following!
