After that, only a partial renovation of our garden was needed, moving a small path, digging a foundation, cutting curbs, burying 2 hundredweight of concrete, drilling holes, doweling and screwing without the concrete bursting, sacrificing a bunch of vine branches, and laying a lot of new grass—that was almost it. New: There are also the two 90-liter masonry tubs where my plants can feel comfortable, 4 times as much space as in last summer's outdoor grow. For drainage, I used Rhine gravel 9-18. On top of that went my old soil mix recipe with fresh compost from Piluweris, clay that the moles constantly throw up in our lawn, and sand from the gravel works with a whole lot of dust in it, practically rock flour. There was also something new here: horn meal added, which I had used before and completely forgotten about. The first bag of sun soil hemp soil was mixed with the top layer of my mix. The second bag went on top plain. New: For me, the germination method used is still new, letting the seeds germinate first in a jam jar with tempered water and a hydrogen peroxide additive. This is now the third time I’m using this method. The advantage is the super-fast germination; the seedling actually peeks out of the shell the next day, and after one or two more days, the seedlings have freed themselves from the seed shell. The further process still poses problems for me. I’m still using the SmartStart plugs from Zamnesia, which I practically cut in half, so from top to bottom right through the middle. I now place the seedling in there, fold the two halves together, and plant the plug in the pot. New: In the trays, there will also be guests, such as tried-and-true and new as well as overwintered chili varieties, various basils or -cums, lemon balm, red clover, a few flowers, and so on. Day 8: The Chocolate Sherbet has something at the root, oh dear. I immediately hilled it up. Soil temperature is 25°C, which is actually good... Day 9+10: The mortar boxes still need soil, and not a little. All the soils from the boxes piled up, added Piluweris plant soil, there are enough fresh molehills, the thrown-up clay is nice and crumbly, unwashed sand, horn shavings, and the Monster Bud Mix Living Soil went on the pile. Everything mixed back and forth multiple times. For drainage, Rhine gravel is on the bottoms of the mortar boxes. On top of that, a layer of the soil mix and on top, sun soil hemp soil. Day 11: The babies can go out. Day 13: The first roommates are moving in. A Zebrange, a Sarit Gat, and an Aji Amarillo. First, I released the PC nematodes against slugs throughout the garden and kept the entire garden moist for the next 4 days with about 100 liters of water. No more slugs in sight. This is very surprising; we live on the outskirts, behind our garden are only orchards and a stream, and that’s where the slugs usually come from. Day 35: Inside and outside the greenhouse, ladybug larvae are seen hunting. The ladybug larvae have settled here on their own; a few weeks ago, some ladybugs were buzzing around here, obviously with success. After rain, we are used to being invaded by snails from the neighboring orchard, but usually normal-sized ones around ~10 cm, but this time there were no big ones. New: There are also the two 90-liter masonry tubs where my plants can feel at home, 4 times as much space as in the last Summer Outdoor Grow. For drainage, I used Rhine gravel 9-18. On top of that, I added my old soil mixture recipe with fresh compost from Piluweris, clay that the moles constantly bring up in our lawn, and sand from the gravel works with lots of dust in it, practically rock flour. The Runtz from Hanfgarten continues to grow to 115 cm. For the expansion of both, I’m cutting back the Zebrange. The Super Lemon Haze Hanfgarten/Greenhouse Seeds is still the smallest in the greenhouse at 105 cm, but now has more space and more light.
