😊First grow ever. FastBud's Blue Dream'atic.

👍 Set up: 100 x 100 cm Grow Tent 4" Inline Exhaust Fan 4" Carbon Filter 300mm HLG 240W Small Fan Seed Germination:

 1. Soak seeds in glass of water for 18 hours
 2. Put seeds in moist paper towel method for 30 hours
 3. Plant seeds in 3gallon pots

I've had a good experience with FastBuds seeds so far with 10/10 seeds germinated via above method. In hindsight, should've planted seeds in soil after 24 hours in paper towel. At 30 hours the roots were starting to become too long.

Two days later all 4 seedlings broke the surface. May 27 is day 1. Seedlings named Bd1, Bd2, Bd3, Bd4 for later reference. Only nutes used was Superbud White Root 1ml/L mixed into normal water schedule. I actually have no idea when to water 😵... just learning along the way and hope I'm not screwing it up. Lights are on about 60-75% of max power and are turned off for 6 hours during the day when it is hottest outside. Had some trouble with high humidity early on but lowering AC to 24C helped (on 24 hrs). Bd1 growth is stunted compared to the others and not sure why. Bd4 is starting to show the next set of leaves (Day 7) but is experiencing burnt tips on leaves. Trying to figure out if its nutrient burn or light burn. Overall quite happy with Week 1 and super excited for the weeks ahead!

Week 2 My grow light dimmer glitched on Day 9 and accidentally blasted 100% light on the seedlings. 😞Felt like their growth was stunted for the rest of the week. Noticeably yellowing of all leaves (not sure whats the cause). Lowered light intensity to about 50% (100W-120W). Bd4 having a harder time than others from burnt leaves but still coming out with new sets of leaves (which are also getting burnt). Would appreciate any help on whats a probable cause? Started getting the hang of watering schedule but realized my PH Meter's calibration was way off and had to recalibrate. I've been watering the past 2 weeks with absolutely all wrong PH! 😱FML. Realized this on Day 14 morning and after watering with correct PH the plants are showing good growth by evening. Hasn't been a very good week but hopefully its onwards and upwards from here. 👊 Looking forward to adding nutes in the next week as well. I'm pretty new to all this so please leave some suggestions what I'm doing right or wrong. Cheers

Reference Picture : Day 14 - Bd4 One of my plants (Bd4) is showing burnt tips and leaves which are getting worse by the day. Please help take a look at the reference picture and give me advice on what's wrong with it? Light burn? Wind burn? Nutrient burn (from soil)? PH? Thanks

There could be a few issues. It seems like some overwatering could be going on. If you grow autos in their final pot size (I do) then it it's best to center water smaller amounts as the seedling cannot use up enough of the soil moisture and will stay soaked. This can mess up their ability to draw nutes and can literally drown the roots. It also looks like a little light burn could have happened, although I would expect all of them to be affected not just plant 4. Be careful about water droplets sitting on the seedlings after watering while your lights are left on, as it can act as a magnifier and cause light damage in rare cases. Good luck with the grow! They can all still turn out great :)

Week 3 Firstly, shoutouts to the growers who helped guide me last week. To sum it up I fucked up in overwatering by a lot, overfeeding nutes, using unfit soil for cannabis, and too much light stress. This week I cut down on watering to about 250mL every 2-3 days. Is this still too much? Let me know in the comments. Also tried to control temperature a bit more with AC + lowering light intensity to stop the heat stress. Increased to 20hr light cycle. It's rainy season here where I live and on rainy days humidity just skyrockets. Just found out my AC has a dry mode which greatly helps control humidity. I used no nutes this weekdays (not even the root thing) and just started first dose of nutes on Saturday (Day 20). I used 1/4 of recommended dose as suggested by FastBuds for this strain. Will see the impact on next week's diary. For the plants, Bd1 has somehow been revived after 2 weeks of no-growth (probably from ph lock-out the past two weeks due to my uncalibrated pH meter). Definitely the champion of this week. Bd2 and Bd3 are just chugging along but much slower than anticipated. Bd1-2-3 all exuding some smell already. Bd4 is pretty much fucked. Sorry girl. I noticed my plants aren't growing much in the stems at all with the stems being a bit purple? After 3 weeks they're only 4cm tall. Pretty sad stuff here. Have I stunted them from two weeks of overwatering? Bd1 on day 21 showing some edge curling upwards. As always your comments and any help is appreciated! Thanks growers!

Quite a meh week. The plants were stunted from earlier overwatering and Bd2 & Bd3 in unsuitable soil. Gave up on Bd4 and wanted to see how the roots were. Bd1 grew the best this week but still dwarfed. Bd2 showing preflower I think. Bd2 also getting some weird circular yellowing spots in the middle of the leaf and what looks like bite marks or bumps on leaf tips. Not sure what those are too. Hoping for the best and think I'm going to continue for experience. Will start a new grow to replace Bd4. Also Blue Dream'atic. Grow it til I make it. 😭

Went really light on watering this week.. letting the top inch dry out completely before watering. Tried LST on Bd1 and it responded really well. Bd1 and Bd3 are noticeably bigger than last week but Bd2 lagged behind after being the biggest over past couple weeks. Note to self: never give up on the smaller seedlings. All 3 showing pistils. Still have some issues with fan leaves purple stems. Might be Mg or P deficiency from my research. I think its correlated with stunted growth too. They're all so tiny and I hope I can at least roll a joint with the harvest to show for this.

This week has been amazing in terms of growth result compared to the stunted weeks earlier. Using this grow to try and learn the ropes. Tried some LST on Bd1 and it responded beautifully (less than 2 hours already back up!). Bd2 is most advanced in the bud showing some trichomes on leafs and calyxes. Bd3 not doing too badly either. Having some trouble keeping humidity down during rainy season. Getting a bigger dehumidifier so looking forward to pushing RH down to the 40s%. Also watering is so hard ...how do I know when to water a lot or not? Been doing the first-inch dry technique and honestly getting lazy of picking dirt from my nails. I'm still watering about 330mL each and only watering every 2-3 days. Is this too little for this stage? taking into account my stunted growth as well..?

My first grow and I suck so I overwatered, too high temp, wrong PH for a couple weeks resulting in stunted and tiny plants. I'm just getting the hang of it this last few weeks. Will my stunted plants still able to produce potent buds even of small quantities? Thanks! 😄

The buds will probably be potent, but the quantities will be even less than you imagine... keep one to the end for the learning experience but use the space better by starting again. Think of your electricity bill over the whole : will it be worth 6grams of weed or more? I'm the type of guy that rather pay more but get more, and if i was you i would start again using all you've learned - the sooner the start the sooner the harvest, that's why it's important to use your grow room space wisely. Hope this helps ! 🚀

Turned the lights on full (stopped using dimmer) and they responded with some praying leaves. Had some soil ph problems on Bd1 being too high (7+ ph) which could explain nutrient lockout and yellowing leaves. Grew a couple centimeters more only but getting bushier this week. Starting to see trichrome on sugar leaves clearly as well. The bud sites are still quite airy and hope they fill up in the coming weeks.

Flushed Bd1 to try to fix the root ph problem. Runoff water had about 7ish pH possibly from nutrient buildup (water so little theres never any runoff). Starting to see some green back into the leaves that was so yellow last week. New growth are all nice green color and each budsite is starting to fatten. Starting using a new and bigger dehumidifier to try and keep RH at 40% to finish off flowering phase. Will see next week if it works well or not. I'm guessing we're about 2 weeks from harvest and wondering when I should stop adding nutrients and start flushing? Any advice is appreciated. Cheers! 😇

new humidifier working well... keeping RH at 40% always (much less spike during dark period) yellowing problems still persist after flushing but have improved slightly. Bd1 still behind others in terms of trichrome production and budsize. May have to harvest Bd2-3 before Bd1. Bd3 cupping leaves - wind burn? the smell is coming on very nicely. very citrusy smell.

Pistils on Bd2 and Bd3 are turning brown and curling inwards. Bd1 trichrome productions have increased a lot this past week. They are very sticky to the touch and the smells are incredibly fruity! FastBuds Blue Dream'matic takes about 9-11 weeks flowering so I'm about a couple weeks away from harvesting. Will be checking trichrome color often the coming weeks.

Finally I get to harvest Bd2 and Bd3 as their trichomes are turning 20-30% amber and the rest cloudy. The 60x phone attachment was very helpful to take photos and study it after. Bd1 is still a week or two behind so will keep close watch and ready to be chopped down too. Right now Bd1 is taking up water like a boss. The flush I did a few weeks back have reset the PH values and the plant is finally green again. For Bd2 & Bd3 I decided to wet trim since my humidity is quite high 50-60% RH to prevent any mold. The trimming was tiring eventhough only small amount. Then I hang to dry @24C and 50%RH. Overall, I'm quite happy I persevered with these stunted babies all the way till finish. It has been a good learning experience for a first time grower like me. Looking forward to drying and curing then giving them a good smoke!

They are ready to cure when the stem snaps instead of just bends. In order to get the buds off the stem hold the bud upside down and work from the bottom. You will see where each individual bud attaches to the main stalk just cut them away from the stalk one at a time working your way up to the top. Nice looking buds you got there!!

So a big week for Bd2 & Bd3 since I've finished drying for 10 days and ready to find out the dry weight. Bd2 has dry weight of 4.5g and Bd3 is 8.4g. Total harvest of 12.9g. They kinda smell "greeny" so I'm not sure if its dried properly but hopefully the smell gets better soon. The dried buds are not densely packed but could also be because its mostly sativa which has more airy buds than indica. Bd1 is still going. It's now 9 weeks in flowering which means harvest time very soon. Fastbuds said 9-11 weeks flowering for this strain. It's drinking heavily. The trichomes are cloudy/clear so I will wait for some to turn amber to harvest. Will stop feeding and only do pH water after this to prepare for harvest. Thanks for following, we're almost at the end of this diary. 😀

Many people at plant shops know a lot about ganja growing. Each have their own soil and fertilizer formula. Ask in details and they will answer. First rule is not to let anybody know that you have ganja. So there are more people growing ganja than you think.

Hi, my comments on your week 2 burn. First, flush the one plant that is burnt with water for one or two days. Re-set things always work with burns. For the other seedlings that seemed okay, don't fix what ain't broken. In general, sativa will burn more easily than indica. Auto will burn more easily than regular. However, this depends on the data sheet. I think for Fastbuds Bluedream'matic is to use less fertilizer but water a bit more. Some people says use 1/4 strength. And feed lightly at beginning of after week 4. And it is not just about a strain. Each seed is different. Different characters are referred to as phenotypes. Each pheno grows differently. Some tall, some short. Feed differently, and smoke differently. Lighter green leave usually has more sativa mix in the gene. They are taller, slower, feed less, with less dense buds, and more high less relaxing afterward. If its set up issue, then all seedlings would displayed same sign. Philindicus told me that "less is more" with auto and I think it is true with fertilizer. What soil did you use? I killed one Wild Thailand Ryder by putting in 20% cow manure in my soil. RIP my sweet girl. Have you added fertilizer in your soil? What were in your fertilizer? I saw you put in Super Bud white root. No idea what it contains. I see some black stuff and pumice. Have you checked your pH? pH from run off water is more certain than stick the probe in. pH should be 6.0 to 6.5. Did you use microbes? Some microbes increase nitrogen up take. Additive - avoid rooting hormone. Don't use auxin / B1. I use auxin to promote root. And it stunted my auto once. Sea Weeds works really well for me. Avoid coconut water, banana flowers. I use coconut water and it stretched tall but not much leaves and buds. Do you have a light meter? How much light is needed depends on the strain. I think auto likes longer light hours with more blue. So, if intensity is not too much then just keep the light on for 20 hours. So, lots of fun until you get your formula for soil, fertilizer, light an so on for each strain. Auto are not natural plants. Actually, most cannabis strains are not natural. So, many things to do.

@pillowz, again I know how to screw up and can only tell what I did wrong. First soil - I tried mixed soil. Did not work for me. ดินก้ามปู + ปุ๋ยคอก too hot. And get muddy too quickly. I use peat moss - course grade ขอเบอร์หยาบๆ ไม่ต้องปรับความเป็น กรดก็ได้ to dilute soil . I mix then with with compost and worm caste for nutrients ปุ๋ยหมัก และมูลไส้เดือน and coconut chunk -1/2 the volume. เปลือกมะพร้าวสับเล็ก to get good air in the soil. After week 3 you can add cow manure. No more than one handful per week. After flowering- bat guano ทูลค้างคาว K เยอะดี one table spoon maximum - this can burn very strongly. Small amount of char แกลบเผา helps with microbes profile in the soil that help fight diseases and fix nitrogen. Suggest that you goggles on PGR cannabis. PGR are Plants Growth Regulators สารควบคุมการเจริญเติบโตพืช. Auxin is terrible for auto - เร่งรากฝอยแต่ทำให้แคระ Combination is better. Don’t ever use Gibberellins. Coconut water and banana flower น้ามะพร้าว ปลีกส้วย works for rice and grape but not ganja Seaweed- สาหร่ายสกัดเข้มข้น has combination of hormones and secondary nutrients as well as potassium. Comes in a bottle at various grade. Jatuchak has it. This is the shop near MRT entrance inside Chatuchak market. Or ask Or Tor Kor shop - not all has this. Use highest quality one. This works. I got started by recommendations from a Master grower in this community. And google one more topic. Molasses - กากน้ำตาล for cannabis growing. I buy molasses from Bangchak Green Market. Very organic way to have strong and great tasting buds. And please remember- too much of anything is bad. You plants are still young, still can recover. About cannabis plant size - don’t believe the size and yield the breeder put in. Plants will get that big in their light, temperature, humidity, expert care on fertilizer, hormones, insects prevention, disease prevention. I would see how other new growers do with the strain you like. Now I like photo period better than auto. That is because I grow out side and can not control the light and humidity.

pillowzcommented6 years ago
@Med_in_Tropic, Thanks for all this great info. Seems to me it's a combination of nutrient burn and overwatering. For nutrient burn, only Bd1 is planted in cannabis-suitable soil. Since I calculated the soil amount wrong when purchasing and already germinated the seeds, I planted the other 3 seeds into ready-made soil with mixed in natural fertilizers (ดินโชกุน ผสมปุ๋ยคอก) that I had on-hand. Somehow Bd2 and Bd3 is doing fine in the same soil... may be fertilizers are all concentrated in Bd4 pot. I think Superbud White Root may be rooting hormone so I'll cut down on this to reduce nutes. I'm curious on how you apply seaweeds for this purpose? Is it a bottled solution? Thanks for all the advice. I hope my past screwups don't stunt the plant too much and can still get a decent growth. 👌

@kevzzz, I'm glad my diary was helpful for you :) It's hard to get it perfect on your first grow but every mistake will become a good lesson for your next batch. Try to nail down light, water, soil, and nutes on your first grow. It's ok to experiment a bit as well! Good luck with your grow~

Drying your buds. It depends on the humidity. I do mine at 50% humidity for the first 3 days to get rid of most of the moisture.then I raise the humidity to 55 to 60% to slow down the drying. Around day 5 I cut the buds off the main stem and place them in a teflon pan. Some of the smaller buds may be dry enough and can go into the jar. Leave the larger ones out for a other day or two. Use a small digital hygrometer inside the jar your goal is to get the humidity down to 62%. If the humidity is 65% or less you can just leave the top off the jar for a few hours everytime it exceeds 62-63%. If the humidity is 66% or higher take the buds out of the jar and put them in the teflon pan for several hours. Then repeat the whole process if needed. Once you reach a stable 62% open the jars once a day for the next week to let some fresh air in. The following week open the jars a couple of times. So one week to dry to 62%.Week 2 starts the curing phase. End of week 3 is a good time to test smoke. Week 4 your good to go. The smell and flavor with a longer cure of 6to 8 weeks improves and makes for a smoother smoke. Enjoy your harvest hope this helps.

@pillowz, yes krub. That is what the books say. It is difficult for me to count 20%. So I just go with all milky (ทึบแสงทั้งหมด). Some will be yellow naturally. More or less yellow depends on how you like your high, If laughing high is what you want - harvest early. If chill and sleep later, then wait until it is more yellow.

I think it is safe to feed her heavily with bloom/buds nutrient for one more week. At this stage she needs Potassium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, and Calcium. No growth hormone. Make sure that your nutes has all that. For me, I add molasses at this stage. For flushing: If you add bottled fertilizer and want to dry and bottle cure like normal, I would stop feeding on week 10. And water with plain water. Soft flush so to speak. I then would do a cleansing flush on week 11. Please note that I don't flush my plant. I keep feed them until almost to the very last day. I use water curing so there is no need. Water curing washes everything away. This includes the baddies like chlorophyll, starch, fertilizer. But good stuff like terpenes and most aroma are gone too. Some time, I cure normally, and I still don't flush. I dunk my flowers in a water bottle for about half a day (6-8 hours) to clean and then dry.
