[2nd run] Green Crack Automatic

-=-=-The Strain=-=-=- There are way too many strains in the world for me to grow the same thing twice, so the fact that Green Crack F1 Automatic is back in the tent should already tell you something. I grew this one a couple of years ago and really liked the smoke. My friends liked it as well, so when I had the chance to run it again there wasn't much thinking involved. Green Crack F1 Automatic from Zamnesia is a sativa-dominant F1 automatic based on Skunk #1 x Afghani. THC is around 21% and the profile is very old-school: earthy, spicy and skunky with some pepper, pine and fruit sitting underneath. The effect is supposed to be energetic, focused and social. From what I remember from the first grow, that description is pretty fucking accurate. -=-=-The Grow=-=-=- The first time I grew this strain it was basically boring in the best possible way. 86 days from start to finish, 95 grams dry, nothing dramatic happened and the plant simply did what an automatic is supposed to do. Second time around I managed to make things more interesting myself. She germinated at the beginning of April and initially looked okay, but after a couple of weeks something was obviously wrong. Tiny plant. Strange shape. Almost no growth. Naturally I started blaming genetics. Obviously. Then I figured out the lights were running at around 10 watts. So yeah. Not genetics. Me. Once the light went up to around 100 watts and she started getting proper food, she slowly came back to life. By week 6 I had her pinned down and started spreading her out with topping, HST and defoliation. Week 7 she finally started preflowering and from that point things moved surprisingly fast. Within another couple of weeks she looked like a completely different plant. Small, but healthy and flowering nicely. Then came the usual travelling. Automatic watering system went on, I disappeared for work, came back and she was still perfectly fine. At one point she even spent some time under 12/12 simply because I had no fucking space left in the other tent. Not ideal for an automatic, but she didn't seem particularly bothered. Once space opened up she went back under 18/6 for the final push. By the last couple of weeks she looked cooked. Lots of mature trichomes, plenty of creamy ones and some purple showing as well. On 19/7 she basically told me enough is enough. So I chopped her. Fourteen weeks this time instead of the much cleaner first run. She never became a huge plant because I completely handicapped her during the beginning of her life, but considering I spent the first few weeks growing her with what was basically a fucking desk lamp, I'm happy she recovered at all. Small and mighty. Then straight into the toilet shower to dry, as tradition demands. -=-=-The Smoke=-=-=- This is the reason I grew her again. Green Crack F1 Automatic is proper daytime weed for me. The smoke has that earthy and skunky base, some spice and pepper, with a bit of sweetness and fruit appearing behind it. Nothing candy-like or complicated. It tastes like weed. Good weed. The effect comes quickly and goes straight to the head. Energetic, focused and creative without making me feel like I need to reorganize my entire house at 3AM. I can smoke this and continue with whatever I was doing. Work on something, game, listen to music, go outside or sit around talking shit with friends. There is one thing I remembered very clearly from the first grow though. The fucking munchies. This stuff makes me hungry. Properly hungry. The kind where you open the fridge five times hoping something new spawned inside since the last time you checked. For me this is a very easy daily driver. Enough power to make it interesting, energetic enough that I can still function and predictable enough that I know what I'm getting every time. The first plant convinced me to grow it again. The second one didn't change my mind.
