PsicoOne Foreword: Even though I actually wanted to take a break over the summer, I couldn't resist. I want to grow another Bubblegum because it tastes really good with a vaporizer. Plus, I had it in my old small tent before and it exploded, so let's see if I can do that again. As I said, summer is coming, it's already quite hot now, and let's see if it works out this year. Last summer was already critical with 33°C, I started the last Bubblegum in the fall when I had perfect conditions. Germination: Day 1 - I soak the seed (fresh out of the fridge) in a glass with a solution of 1L water and 1ml Alfa Boost for 24 hours at room temperature of about 24°C. Day 2 - Today, the seed goes into a coconut pellet. I let the pellet soak in the same solution from the day before and squeeze out the excess water, form a small indentation, put the seed in, and carefully close the indentation. Then it went into a small greenhouse (recycled iced tea can) and into a corner of the tent, where it's between 24°C and 27°C, perfect for popping out of the shell. Day 5 - Happy Birthday little Miss BubbleGum! She's now getting a big kids' room (20L Airpot).

PsicoOne The soil I'm using for this grow is from a batch from last November or December when the harvest was. After that, I removed the big roots and tore everything else into small pieces and put it in an airtight box along with some other old soil. I let the soil sit there for 3-6 months. Additionally, I mix in dried and finely shredded banana peels (organic of course, nothing sprayed) and dried clover. Occasionally, I pour some leftover compost tea onto the old soil and occasionally turn everything over. It all decomposes in those few months and the soil can be reused. But you shouldn't add too much worm humus then. Day 1 - I let the little one stay in its soaking tab for another day and start preparing the soil. For the 20L Airpot, I use old soil, about 19L, then add 500ml of worm humus and 500ml of perlite. As an extra, I mix in 80g of Silicium Flash and 5g of mycorrhiza into the soil. I fill the Airpot about 1/3 with this mix, then mix the remaining soil with 100g of Startrex and fill the pot. I also press in 1 of 2 organic tabs into the pot. I mark the spot where the tab is with a small sign; the second one will be placed opposite but only in week 2 or 3. Day 2 - Today Miss Bubblegum is going into her final pot that I roughly filled yesterday. Now I make a fist-deep and wide hole in this pot, which I fill with fresh Light Mix, about just a handful. The roots are supposed to grow in there first so they don't burn if my old soil is too strong. Then, I make a small hole in the Light Mix for the soaking tab to fit in, and dust the whole thing just like the soaking tab with mycorrhiza and carefully insert the tab since the root is already out. After that, I water it with a mix of 1L of water with 10ml of Orgatrex, 1g of Bactrex, and 0.3ml of CalMag. I water the first liter close to the plant and not at the edge so the root follows the moisture; starting from week 2, I will only water the edge and not near the stem anymore. I also give the young lady a protective dome because the air is currently very dry. Day 6 - Today, I'm giving water directly at the stem, 300ml of a solution made from 1L of water with 4ml of Rootjuice and 2ml of Alfa Boost.

PsicoOne The second week is also going smoothly, and the upcoming weeks could be good for its growth since the temperature in the tent averages around 28°C and the humidity is at 50%, which could be a bit higher, but the plant still has the bell placed over it. Day 9 - I give the plant 1L of water with 4ml of Root-Juice and 0.5ml of Calmag. This time, I water a bit further away from the stem and only a small sip, about 100ml, directly at the stem. Day 10 - I start to regularly mist the plant every 4-5 days with a solution of 250ml of water and 2.5ml of Alfa Boost. I will continue this until the beginning of flowering, from then on the dosage will be increased but only until the end of flowering week 2 at most. Day 13 - Before I give water, I will plant some clover today. I make a roughly 2cm deep trench only at the edge of the pot and sprinkle just a little of the clover seeds in it. Then everything is covered with soil and watered with a solution of 1L of water, 0.5ml of Calmag, and 2ml of Alfa Boost. From now on, I will only water around the outer edge of the pot to encourage the roots to grow outward.

PsicoOne And even in the 3rd week, everything is in order. Well, the humidity could be higher, but I don't have any extra equipment for that and have to live with the climate in my region. But I think it will work out fine again. Day 15 - Today I’m adding the second Bio Tab to the soil and giving 1L of water with 0.5ml CalMag. Day 19 - Today I’m removing the bottom two shoots along with the leaves from the young lady, as I almost always do. I've only rarely had the first two shoots be very strong. Additionally, I'm giving her 1L of water with 2ml Alfa Boost.

PsicoOne This week it not only got very hot and humid in my area, but my Bubblegum is also starting to bloom on day 31. The last Bubblegum went into bloom on day 29, which makes me very happy. There's only one solution against the heat: buy an air conditioner, and luckily there was one at the local hardware store for 249 euros, but I love my flowers and I also like to sleep cool, so it's killing two birds with one stone. Day 29 - I'm using "super cropping" and breaking the main stem inside. Nothing more, I just want the stem to become more stable at that point; besides, the side branches can try to catch up. Day 31 - Today is bloom day 1 for me. Today, I'm applying "super cropping" above the last break point. Day 32 - There are 2L of water (pH 6.26). Day 33 - I'm removing four sun leaves from the main stem so that more light reaches the side branches and they might catch up to the main stem. Day 35 - Today, I'm giving a little extra food, and she's getting 2L of water with 8ml Alfaboost and 0.6ml CalMag (pH 6.28). I'm also removing a few branches that are too low since they probably won't make it up.

PsicoOne This week went amazingly well despite the extreme heat at the end of it. In my area, it reached 37°C outside, and my new air conditioner struggled to keep the grow tent at 30°C. Additionally, I turned the light down to 50% for a few hours a day to combat the heat. I've now set the light cycle to 12/12 for the rest of the summer because it’s just too warm in my attic apartment. Day 36 - Today it got rough, and I broke all the side branches (super cropping/Kyle Kushman Chiropractic). After that, I gave the plant a shower and sprayed it with a solution of 1L water and 20ml Alfa Boost. Day 38 - I'm removing a few fan leaves to get more light to the lower branches. Day 39 - Today I'm removing the clover and filling the pot with my soil mix, then digging a 5cm deep hole where I’ll bury a capsule that’s supposed to work against fungus gnats for 4 weeks while also stimulating the plant. For a 20-liter pot, you're supposed to use 4 capsules, but I'm not familiar with it, so I'm being cautious and sticking with one. Then I’ll give it 2L of water with 20ml Bio PK 5-8 (pH 6.15). Day 40 - Due to the upcoming heatwave, I'm setting my light cycle to 12/12. Day 42 - Today, I'm just giving 2L of water (pH 6.30).

PsicoOne Already shortly after the start of the week, there's the first problem. I discovered a single thrip on one of the neighboring plants (Pineapple Express by Fast Buds). I sprayed all the plants with a water and neem oil mixture just to be safe, especially from underneath, so those little pests wouldn't spread further. But it remained just that one; maybe I should have just removed the leaf with the thrip instead of doing anything else. This week, I also noticed the first smell of bubblegum. I don't know if "bubblegum" is an accurate description, but I wouldn't know how else to describe it. Generally, I would say the strain is very gassy, with a fruity and sweet gas. It's also a totally inconspicuous strain in terms of smell; no one would recognize it as cannabis just by the scent. Day 43 - Today, I removed a few very low-lying shoots that weren't going to make it up anyway, and the stretch wasn't particularly large with my last bubblegum either; however, the last one was significantly bushier. Day 44 - It's flowering day 14, and today there was the water + neem oil shower. I didn't really want to do it this late, but I'd prefer that over having my whole tent infested and risking future plants. Day 45 - The soil was fed again with 2L of water (pH 6.14) with 40ml of Orgatrex and 2g of Bactrex. Day 48 - Today, just 2L of water (pH 6.29). It shows that it has a bit too much nitrogen; I should have only given it one liter of the solution three days ago. Day 49 - I'm resetting the light cycle to 18/6. The weather forecast looks pretty good for my region for the near future, meaning no 30°C, and the humidity should also drop a bit.

PsicoOne Yeah, it's really not going well, but at least I know what I did wrong. I didn't know that you shouldn't necessarily combine Silicium Flash with Orgatrex. I didn't realize that; the packaging for Silicium Flash doesn't mention it, but it's in the PDF from Bio Tabs, I just missed it. Well, it is what it is now, and I can only hope that the plant still makes it to the finish line, but there won't be any significant yield anymore. Day 50 - There’s 2L of water (pH 6.30) Day 54 - 1L of water without adjusting the pH, so it should be around pH 7.30, which is usually how it comes from my tap. Because of the still quite high temperatures, I also let the tap water run a bit first, since the pipes are really warmed up, and the first half-liter that comes out of the tap is about 24-25°C. Day 57 - 2L of water (pH 6.35)

PsicoOne I’ve decided that this is her last week. The trichomes are almost all milky, she could really handle another week, but the weather service is already announcing another hot period, so I’d rather get the harvest in safely even if it won’t be much this time. But I know where my mistakes were (thanks again to Mia from Bio Tabs) and I definitely won’t make those again. Day 64 - 1L water (pH 6.35) Day 66 - 2L water (pH 6.35) also, I defoliated the plant again and removed all the dry leaves Day 69 - 2L water (pH 6.35) Day 71 - Harvest

Regarding heat, it helps immensely to increase humidity, as it saves you a lot of electricity for the climate----best regards
PsicoOne
PsicoOne commented2mo ago
@Mia_BIOTABS, You're right, I also have a VPD chart, but I can't control much more, especially not humidity because of my apartment. I live in an attic apartment and only have windows on one side, so it's really hard to ventilate. Unfortunately, I have to make a compromise. I now have an air conditioning unit, but it reached its limits at 37°C outside temperature over the weekend. In the bedroom, I had 31, in the bathroom 34, and the air conditioner could only manage to keep it at 29°C in my kitchen/grow room, but that was only because I turned the light down a bit and switched to 12/12, so I had a steady 30 degrees in the tent day and night. A nightmare last week, but the plants are doing great.
Mia_BIOTABS
Mia_BIOTABS commented2mo ago
@PsicoOne, oumann, but I think I would rather invest in the air conditioning-----summer grows indoors are always challenging. Luckily, it has cooled down again. I find it cute that you write a postscript, but the plants are doing well---- everything for the plants, everything for the grow-- ( everything for the dachshund, everything for the club)

@Mia_BIOTABS, I also want to expand my gear, like a grow controller, dehumidifier, etc. But I have to save up for it piece by piece. Next on the list is a bigger exhaust, and then the controller, and after the controller, the rest. So I really want to create optimal conditions, or at least get close to it, but I first need to save money for a move. But then I’ll keep investing. I've really started to enjoy the plants; it's just relaxing to watch them grow.

The ladies have everything they need - and always remember that calmag from Biobizz contains nitrogen - and you've already got a pot full of nutrients - let's see what the little plants say about that. The same goes for alfa boost ---- so when growing, less is often more.
PsicoOne
PsicoOne commented3mo ago
@Mia_BIOTABS, Okay, I didn't know that the tabs also cover CalMag. With Alfa Boost, I used to spray the leaves only once or twice a week, so I wanted to test the full program with strains I already know, like now with the Bubblegum and before with the Northern Lights. So far, the Bubblegum looks very, very healthy; you'll see next week. But I'm grateful for any good advice; I want to test everything. When one of the ladies is harvested again soon, I'll stick to just Bio Tab. Which one would you like to see: Mango Frost or Pineapple Express from Fast Buds, or a Pineapple Express from Seed Supplier?
Mia_BIOTABS
Mia_BIOTABS commented3mo ago
@PsicoOne, if you raise the light quite a bit, it can definitely lead to a calmag deficiency. But then I would use a calmag product—and not a multitool; Alfa Boost is a good product, just way too much in this case. In 9 out of 10 cases, you can do very well without calmag. There’s also calmag without nitrogen. And if I may wish for the strain (thanks), then Pineapple Express... greetings from the seed supplier!
PsicoOne
PsicoOne commented3mo ago
@Mia_BIOTABS, Oh good, what would you recommend as a CalMag substitute? I've been testing Bio Bizz for 2 years now and I'm not that impressed. That's why I switched to Bio Tabs almost 2 years ago, the constant measuring of all the liquids was just annoying. Alright then, a Pineapple Express.

Water management in the pots is difficult. I watered mine daily. If the soil dries out, it's just a mess. What helps is if you submerge the pot until it stops bubbling. In other words, the soil is wet (once a week) and then, of course, water daily (with a lot of patience). Also, saucers help. It works best with a dripping system. I just ran out of patience after a while and gave up the pots.
PsicoOne
PsicoOne commented1mo ago
@Mia_BIOTABS, No, the watering is working, sometimes I put a piece of wick from an oil lamp in the grid at the bottom, so it can draw water up from below. The pot is still really heavy, it’s taking up way too little and the Airpot hardly dries out. And if they don’t dry out, then something’s wrong. I think it was over-fertilized. But this week it should pick up a bit more speed. But thanks to all your tips, I’ve done quite a bit better with the Pineapple Express. I also now have a grow controller, new exhaust, and sensors, so I can adjust the values better.

@Mia_BIOTABS, Danke für deinen Rat wegen den Stickstoff im CalMag., jetzt weis ich wo so oft mein Problem lag das die Blätter so dunkel werden.
