Germination Week | A New Journey Begins
Hello GrowDiaries family! 👋🌱
Welcome to another new journey.
As some of you may have noticed, I’ve recently adjusted the way I document my grows. With the current photo limitations on GrowDiaries, each phenotype now receives its own dedicated diary rather than sharing a single journal with its sisters.
This allows me to continue documenting every stage of development while selecting the best photographs from each week and keeping everything organized from seed to harvest.
The goal remains exactly the same as always:
To create an honest, educational, and complete record while sharing observations, successes, lessons learned, and everything in between.
Today, we begin following Black Diamond Auto Pheno A.
Another seed, another story, and another opportunity to learn.
⸻
Beginning the Autoflower Chapter
The photoperiod section of this project is already underway, and now the autoflowers continue joining the garden one by one.
Autoflowers have always fascinated me because they follow their own timeline.
No flip.
No waiting for flowering signals.
No changes to the light schedule.
They simply grow according to the clock built inside their genetics.
That makes every day of development important from the very beginning.
For this run, we’re following Black Diamond Auto from Zamnesia Seeds, cultivated under a 12/12 from seed schedule from the very first day of life.
A method that is a little different from what most growers choose, but one that has become part of my own cultivation style over time.
Throughout this diary, I’ll explain not only what I’m doing, but also why I’m doing it, allowing anyone interested to follow the process from beginning to end.
⸻
Germination Using the Cannakan System
To begin this run, I used the Cannakan germination system.
For organizational purposes, the autoflower section was germinated using my second Cannakan unit, while the photoperiod section used the first.
The methodology itself remained exactly the same.
Simple.
Organized.
Reliable.
The seed was placed inside using only plain water.
No nutrients.
No additives.
No stimulants.
Just water.
Within approximately 24 hours a healthy taproot had emerged and the seed was ready for planting.
Exactly what we hope to see from healthy, vigorous genetics.
⸻
Why Only Water?
One question that often appears during germination is:
“Why not feed the seed immediately?”
The answer remains simple.
The seed already contains everything required for its first stage of life.
Inside that shell are the energy reserves needed to establish roots and begin development.
At this stage, I prefer allowing the seed to use those reserves naturally.
The objective is not to feed the plant.
The objective is simply to wake it up.
Water is enough.
Nature has already prepared the rest.
⸻
Coco Starter Plugs
Just like the rest of this project, the seed began life inside a coco starter plug.
The plug was fully hydrated and then gently squeezed to remove excess moisture while maintaining a healthy balance between water retention and oxygen availability.
Once germinated, the seed was carefully inserted into the plug and placed inside a humidity dome.
The dome remained useful for only a short period.
Within less than 24 hours the seedling had already emerged and was ready for the next step.
At that point, she was transplanted directly into a small container filled with Plagron Lightmix.
⸻
Environmental Conditions
Environmental conditions remained intentionally simple and stable.
Temperatures stayed around 26–27°C.
Humidity was maintained between approximately 65–70% using a Spider Farmer humidifier.
Rather than keeping seedlings inside extremely humid conditions for extended periods, I prefer introducing them relatively early to the environment they will actually experience throughout their life cycle.
The objective is adaptation.
Not dependence.
Airflow remained extremely gentle.
Just enough movement to keep fresh air circulating without creating unnecessary stress.
⸻
Lighting
Lighting during germination remained intentionally soft.
Young seedlings simply do not require intense light levels at this stage.
The goal is healthy establishment rather than rapid growth.
Once properly established, this girl will move under the Future Of Grow Black Series 600W full-spectrum LED system where the next stage of development begins.
For now, healthy roots and healthy growth remain the priorities.
⸻
First Observations
Everything has progressed exactly as hoped so far.
Fast germination.
Healthy taproot.
Strong emergence.
Healthy color.
Good vigor.
And perhaps most importantly:
A healthy beginning.
At this stage every seedling is still a mystery waiting to reveal itself.
That mystery is one of the things I enjoy most about growing.
Every seed starts with potential.
Every phenotype writes its own story.
And every journey begins here.
⸻
Looking Ahead
Over the coming weeks we’ll follow Black Diamond Auto Pheno A through every stage of development.
We’ll document:
* Root establishment
* Early growth
* Environmental management
* Watering practices
* Structural development
* Flowering progression
* And whatever unique characteristics this phenotype chooses to reveal
Because every seed deserves the opportunity to tell its story.
Huge thanks to Zamnesia Seeds for the genetics, Plagron for the substrate and nutrition, Future Of Grow for the lighting, and everyone following along for another seed-to-harvest adventure.

## Week 1 | Fast Out of the Gate
Hello GrowDiaries family! 👋🌱
Welcome back to another update from the 12/12 From Seed project.
This week we're following Black Diamond Auto Pheno A through her first week of life, and she has already started making an impression.
Every plant enters the garden with its own pace and personality.
Some spend their first days quietly establishing roots before showing much activity above the soil.
Others seem eager to get moving from the moment they emerge.
So far, Black Diamond Auto Pheno A appears to belong firmly in that second category.
---
## A Strong Start
Like the rest of the garden, this seedling was transplanted directly into her final container filled with Plagron Lightmix.
The objective remains the same throughout this project:
Allow uninterrupted root development from the earliest stages while minimizing transplant stress later in life.
As always, the majority of the work during this stage happens beneath the soil surface.
While we admire the leaves above ground, the root system is busy establishing the foundation that will support the entire grow.
And judging by her progress this week, that foundation appears to be developing very well.
---
## Environment
Environmental conditions remained stable throughout the week.
Daytime temperatures averaged approximately 27°C.
Night temperatures remained around 25°C.
Relative humidity stayed close to 55%.
The nutrient solution was maintained near pH 5.99 with an EC of approximately 0.46 mS/cm.
Root zone and solution temperatures remained around 21°C.
Lighting was provided by the Future Of Grow Black Series LED system operating under the 12/12 From Seed methodology used throughout this project.
At this stage, consistency remains more important than intensity.
The goal is healthy establishment, not aggressive growth.
Healthy roots first.
Everything else follows.
---
## Early Development
The first few days showed some slightly unusual leaf formation, something that is not uncommon during the seedling stage.
Young plants occasionally display small quirks while transitioning from cotyledons into their first true leaves.
What matters most is how the new growth develops.
And in this case, every new set of leaves appeared stronger and more defined than the previous one.
As the week progressed, the plant began displaying excellent vigor and increasingly healthy structure.
The unusual early growth quickly became less noticeable as new leaves emerged.
---
## Building Momentum
What stood out most throughout the week was the pace of development.
Each new photograph showed visible progress.
Leaf size increased steadily.
New growth accelerated.
Structure remained compact while continuing to expand outward.
By the end of the week, Black Diamond Auto Pheno A was already displaying noticeably larger leaves than many of her sisters at the same stage.
The bird's-eye photographs reveal a plant that is actively building canopy area and preparing for the next phase of growth.
Everything appears healthy, balanced, and energetic.
---
## The Auto Advantage
One interesting observation during this first week is the difference between the autoflowering and photoperiod plants sharing the room.
While all plants are developing well, the autoflower genetics are already beginning to show the rapid early growth that many growers associate with vigorous autos.
Black Diamond Auto Pheno A is a good example of this.
The growth rate appears slightly ahead of several of the photoperiod plants documented so far.
This is still very early, of course, but it will be fascinating to watch how these differences develop throughout the coming weeks.
One of the most rewarding aspects of running multiple cultivars together is observing how each genetic approaches growth in its own unique way.
---
## Three Fingers and Beyond
By the end of the week, well-developed three-finger leaves had already become established.
What caught my attention was their size.
The leaf development appears particularly vigorous for this stage, and some of the newest growth even hints at the next stage of leaf complexity beginning to form.
Whether those emerging leaves develop into larger finger counts remains to be seen, but the plant is clearly moving forward with confidence.
For a Week 1 seedling, the progress has been impressive.
---
## First Week Impressions
So far, Black Diamond Auto Pheno A has delivered an excellent start.
Strong vigor.
Healthy color.
Rapid leaf development.
Compact structure.
And a growth rate that already places her among the faster-moving plants in the room.
The early leaf quirks appear to be fading into the background as healthy new growth takes over.
Everything suggests a seedling that is settling comfortably into her environment and preparing for the weeks ahead.
---
## Looking Ahead
The first week is complete and the foundation is now in place.
Roots continue expanding.
New growth is accelerating.
The canopy is beginning to form.
And this little Black Diamond Auto already seems eager to show what she can do.
The coming weeks will reveal much more about her structure, vigor, and overall character.
For now, she's doing exactly what every grower hopes to see:
Healthy growth.
Steady progress.
And plenty of potential.

DogDoctorOfficial Week 2 - Vegetation | Black Diamond Auto Pheno A
Hello everyone, and welcome back to another update from the 12/12 From Seed adventure.
This week we continue following Black Diamond Auto Pheno A as she settles into her new environment and continues building momentum for the journey ahead.
As always, before diving into this week’s observations, a quick recap for anyone joining the diary for the first time. This project follows a 12/12 From Seed approach, where plants receive a flowering photoperiod from the moment they emerge. The goal is not only to explore different genetic expressions but also to document how each cultivar responds to this unique cultivation style from germination all the way through harvest.
Week 2 has been another very positive chapter for this phenotype.
The first thing that continues to catch my attention is a particularly interesting leaf expression that appeared during early growth. One of the leaves displayed a beautiful two-tone coloration, almost resembling natural camouflage, with lighter and darker shades of green sharing the same leaf blade. While unusual, the plant never showed any signs of stress or deficiency, and as newer growth continues to emerge, the effect appears to be gradually fading away.
Sometimes plants gift us these little moments of individuality, and this one certainly managed to put a smile on my face every time I checked the tent.
Beyond that unique characteristic, the overall development has been excellent.
Throughout the week the plant continued building structure steadily and efficiently, finishing the period with seven established nodes. Growth remains compact and controlled, with tight internodal spacing and a strong symmetrical shape developing from the center outward. Every new set of leaves appears healthy and vigorous, and the overall architecture suggests a plant that is settling comfortably into its environment.
The transplant performed previously appears to have been accepted without hesitation. Rather than slowing down, the plant responded by increasing growth speed and producing consistent new development across the entire canopy. The stem continues strengthening, leaf size continues increasing, and the root zone is clearly supporting healthy above-ground growth.
Coloration remains vibrant throughout the plant. The foliage displays healthy green tones, leaf posture remains confident, and the canopy is beginning to take on the layered appearance that becomes increasingly noticeable as additional nodes develop.
Nutritionally, the plants continue receiving a simple but effective feeding program consisting of Plagron Terra Grow, Power Roots, Pure Zym, and Sugar Royal. At this stage the goal is not aggressive feeding but rather providing a stable foundation for healthy root expansion, microbial activity, and steady vegetative development.
Power Roots supports continued root establishment following transplant, Pure Zym helps maintain a healthy rhizosphere by assisting in the breakdown of dead organic matter, while Terra Grow provides the primary nutritional support required for vigorous vegetative growth. Sugar Royal is included early as part of the overall cultivation strategy, helping support plant metabolism throughout the cycle.
One lesson that becomes increasingly clear during these early weeks is that consistency often outperforms complexity. Stable environmental conditions, proper watering practices, balanced nutrition, and patience continue to be the most valuable tools available to any grower.
Overall, Week 2 has been a very successful week for Black Diamond Auto Pheno A. The plant is healthy, vigorous, structurally balanced, and developing exactly the way we hope to see at this stage of growth. The unique camouflage leaf may eventually disappear completely, but it will remain one of the first memorable characteristics recorded in this phenotype’s journey.
Thank you to everyone following along, supporting the diary, sharing advice, and contributing to the amazing growing community that makes projects like this so enjoyable to document.
A special thank you as always to Zamnesia for the genetics, Plagron for the nutrition, and to all growers who continue sharing their knowledge, successes, lessons, and experiences with the community.
Until next week, growers love and happy growing everyone. 🌱💚
