StonedGiants Germination in Petri dish with 0.5% hydrogen peroxide.
Heating mat Vivosun set to 25°C.
All seeds germinated 12/12.
Day 1: Germination
• Heating mat 25°C
Day 2: Radicle visible
• Seedlings covered
Day 3: Sowing in mineral wool
• Radicle 3-5mm long
• 25°C at 95% rH
• Dome moistened with 0.5% hydrogen peroxide
• Sprouts visible: already green, some yellow
Day 4:
• 1ml Formulex per cube hand-watered
• Dome moistened with 0.5% hydrogen peroxide
• Ventilation opening for circulation
• All sprouts green - 12/12
• 23°C at rH 85%
Day 5:
• Sprout height: 0.3cm to 0.5cm - one at 1.0cm
• 24°C at rH 85%
• LED lighting prepared
• no signs of pathogens
• 2 seedlings lagging behind:
Brown, dry leaf tips
Day 6:
• 24°C at rH 80%
• 1-2ml Formulex [0.5ml/l] Feed
• H²O² prophylaxis
• ready for 100 Watt LED lighting
Day 7:
• 24°C at rH 80%
• H²O² prophylaxis
• 40cm distance to the 100W grow lamp
• 1 seedling unfortunately dried out on foam
• 1.0cm sprout height
• first true leaves forming
• healthy green color
• also standing upright
• no damping off / accident disease
[Intermediate conclusion foam cubes]
2/3 dried out,
almost lost one yesterday,
became wilted and a bit dry, but has perked up again.
Already suitable as a medium but rather in a water tray; otherwise, it dries out faster compared to expansion tabs, coconut, and mineral wool.
Seedling phase: Day 8:
• 25°C heating mat,
• 100 Watt grow LED lamp at 40cm distance
• Sprout height between 1.0cm to 2.8cm
• some leaves drooping and stagnating a bit
• currently no feed
• no O² boost
• Fan set up
• slowly reducing humidity to 70-65%
• ⚠️: surface dry, keep center moist
Day 8 Seedling phase - Seedling phase evening:
The seedlings were transferred to the cloner.
Carefully extracted and placed in cloning collars.
The cloner sprays the NL (Formulex) every 20 minutes for 20 seconds.
25°C at rH 75% - Dome is in place to maintain humidity.
Visible root tips and roots can be seen.
Day 9-10:
The seedlings have acclimated in the cloner.
Roots are forming piece by piece.
25°C at rH 75% - Dome is in place to maintain humidity.
One is lagging a bit because it was taken out of the wool too early. (No root tips visible)
Day 10-14:
Roots have significantly developed - ready to be transferred to the RDWC.
25°C at rH 65% - Dome is no longer relevant.
In the morning, preemptively misted with H²O². 25°C at rH 75% - Dome is in place to maintain humidity.

Hey! Thank you! 💚
I'm using rock wool and I'm also trying out this foam cube.
The challenge with rock wool is just the moisture/wetness; otherwise, they dry out or rot in waterlogged conditions.
It requires a bit of preparation, but it has its advantages.
