GanjaGecko Welcome to the next run. In this grow, a big thank you goes to Mia BioTabs and of course to BioTabs, who are kind enough to sponsor the nutrients for the entire grow. Here we are growing Strawberry Lobster from Cipher Genetics. Specifically, a collaboration between Cipher Genetics and Maine Trees. A glass of water was prepared with 2 drops of Seedbooster and a few drops of hydrogen peroxide. The seed was soaked in it for about 15 hours before going into the seedling pot. The substrate was watered with BioEnhancer to a pH of 5.8. A small dome was placed on the seedling pot to create the optimal conditions needed for germination. When the very young Strawberry Lobster first saw the light, the small plastic dome was removed from the seedling pot, allowing it to take its first breaths of air. ...and the journey can begin. Backup seeds were 2x Fruity Pebbles from Gas Station and one seed from my first S1 cross of OceanTruffle. These have also all germinated. 💚 In this grow, the "just add water" method is being introduced. Here, the substrate is initially prepared with tabs, Startrex, and Silicium Flash. For the transition to the flowering cycle, there will be another top feeding with Silicium Flash. Additionally, in week 2/3 of flowering, a compost tea will be given. The rest will be taken care of by the microorganisms and the slow-release fertilizers in the substrate. Startrex is an organic soil enhancer and bio-fertilizer in one. (N-P-K 3:1:2). Startrex contains silicon (Si), humus, and fulvic acid. Additionally, Startrex enriches the substrate with beneficial bacteria. Silicium Flash is 100% organic and provides the plants with quickly available amounts of silicon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Silicium Flash strengthens the plants' resistance, for example, against heat, drought, pests, and pathogens. The nutrient uptake of the plants is noticeably increased, leading to overall stronger plants and higher yields. BioTabs Silicium Flash is immediately available to the plants and is absorbed extremely quickly. The remaining nutrients are then slowly released to the plants over the course of 2 months. For the 12L substrate, 60g (5g/L) of Startrex was completely mixed with the substrate. Of the 62g of Silicium Flash, 40g was mixed into the lower half of the substrate, and the last 22g was placed on the surface of the substrate. In each planting hole, 5g of Mycotrex was distributed. Mycotrex is a mixture of nine types of mycorrhizal spores, beneficial rhizobacteria, seaweed meal, and humic acid. This allows the plants to better absorb water and minerals, significantly maximizing their growth. For the 12L fabric pots, 2 tabs are placed at mid-height in the mixed substrate. The 2 tabs are sufficient as the main fertilizer for the entire cycle of the plant. Watering was done with Bactrex and Orgatrex. Bactrex is an organic soil fertility enhancer with beneficial soil and root microbes. It contains fungi from the Trichoderma genus, various Bacillus bacteria, and the included root bacteria improve soil structure and increase plant fertility. Trichoderma fungi combat diseases caused by other harmful fungi. Bacillus bacteria help the plant regulate diseases naturally and make valuable nitrogen and phosphorus available to the plants. Orgatrex is a 100% organic booster for growth and flowering. The base of Orgatrex is made from alfalfa plant meal, and it is packed with trace elements and sugars from various molasses, potassium vinasse, silicon oxide, and broken minerals. GanjaGecko Week 1 // D1-D7 After a week in the seedling pot, Strawberry Lobster was moved to its final pot. On day 7, it was repotted. The two ladies went into 12L fabric pots. The Strawberry Lobster has made itself comfortable in the 60×60×160 cm DiamondBox under the Sanlight Q3W gen.2 with a maximum output of 120W. The Sanlight Q3W was dimmed to 50%=60W on day 7 for repotting. This gives the ladies about 400ppfd. The distance from the LED to the ladies is 40cm. This setting will remain until the switch to 12/12. In this grow, the "just add water" method is being introduced. The substrate (here a light mix) is initially prepared with the tabs, Startrex, and Silicium Flash. There will be another top feeding with Silicium Flash when switching to the flowering cycle. Additionally, in weeks 2/3 of flowering, there will be a compost tea. The rest is taken care of by the microorganisms and the slow-release fertilizers in the substrate. GanjaGecko WEEK 3 // D15-D21 The Strawberry Lobster is developing beautifully. I'm really glad that both Strawberries are in the same tent because they are both quite diligent when it comes to growth. The first topping was done on the Strawberry Lobster on day 19 at the 5th node. Due to the strong vertical growth, all side shoots will receive a topping next week to control the growth a bit. The main stem was bent with bud clips to counteract the height growth as early as possible. The Bio Tabs method is really unusually relaxing☺️ every time you want to water the plants, you realize that they only need water and you can get started right away. This saves an incredible amount of time every time. I really like that already. Also, the leaf color and overall condition of the plant look incredibly good! The environmental conditions are currently hell or at least not far from it. I waited a bit too long for the climate devices🤣 now there are only the loud ones that consume an outrageous amount of electricity. So, I guess I'll have to tough it out this summer😆 The VPD is still quite pleasant to maintain. Since the Lobster shares the tent with the aggressively growing Guava, LST will likely be sufficient to achieve an even canopy. The growth of the Strawberry Lobster has been quite decent so far. The side shoots and their secondary branches are growing strong. GanjaGecko WEEK 6 // D36-D42 At the beginning of this week, the first layer of the Scrog net was installed. This serves as a little help to promote and shape the desired canopy. Some of the shoots that are in too much of a hurry are placed back under the Scrog net. For the shoots that were particularly eager, I used bud clips, while for the other shoots, twisting them and placing them under the net was sufficient. The second layer of the Scrog net will come into the tent around week 2 of flowering to support and evenly distribute the shoots. This week, flowering was also slowly initiated. The light was reduced by 1 hour daily, while the light intensity was slightly increased for each hour taken away. If you only reduce the exposure time without increasing the intensity, the DLI drops. This signals to the plant anything but that it’s about to enter flowering soon. The gradual transition to flowering with one hour less light each day is meant to ensure that the plant doesn’t stretch unnecessarily and that the nodes are closer together. However, this only happens if the light intensity is slightly increased for each hour less. If you don’t do that, the DLI drops, and the plant suddenly suffers from a lack of light, possibly compensating by stretching a bit more to get closer to the light. _____________________________________________ Watering is done with water that is kept in motion 24/7 with an aquarium pump in a 10L watering can. GanjaGecko WEEK 7/1F // D43/1F - D49/7F The growth of the main stems was slowed down a bit with some banding/twisting as the stretch began, so some cropping was trained to help the side branches catch up. This way, a somewhat decent canopy was created relatively quickly to work with. In the first week of flowering, the SanlightQ3W was running at 80%=96W. This gave the Strawberry Lobster around 550 ppfd. Only now in week 2 is the SanlightQ3W set to 100%=120W. To ensure the Strawberry Lobster gets enough light despite the "only" 120W from the SanlightQ3W, which provides around 800-850 ppfd for a proper bloom, the distance of the LED was reduced from 40 to 35cm. The growth of the main stems was slowed down a bit with some banding/twisting as the stretch began, so some cropping was trained to help the side branches catch up. This way, a somewhat decent canopy was created relatively quickly to work with. Here’s a word about BioTabs and the "only water" method: it’s so relaxed!!! Up until now, the substrate was prepared at the start of the grow, then the substrate was watered with 10ml/L Orgatrex and 2g/L Bactrex. After that, only water was given until week 5. In week 5, there was one watering with 10ml/L Orgatrex and 1g/L Bactrex. Only now in week 1 of flowering was 25g of Silicium Flash added as a topdress. For this, a small hole is made in the substrate near the stem where the Silicium Flash is sprinkled and then covered with soil and watered with 2g/L Bactrex. _____________________________________________ Watering is done with water that is kept moving 24/7 with an aquarium pump in a 10L watering can. GanjaGecko Week 8/2F // D50/8F - D56/14F The Strawberry Lobster is already showing significant flower development and is also slowing down with the strong stretch. If the banding on the Guava BX isn't enough, the Strawberry Lobster will be minimally supported next week. The growth of the branches is quite even and can be easily controlled. This way, with relatively little work, a fairly uniform canopy has been achieved. This week, the second layer was installed. It serves to organize the branches as well as to provide support. The branches are a bit stronger than those of the Guava BX, but still need a little support. On Day 53/11F, the Sanlight Q3W was set to 100%. To provide the Strawberry Lobster with around 800-850 ppfd for decent flowering despite the "only" 120W of the Sanlight Q3W, the distance of the LED was reduced from 40 to 35 cm. This week, the sleep and wake-up light was also turned on. A Far Red light strip in the 730-745 nm range - the Spider Farmer SUPP-IR 16. This turns on 13 minutes before the Sanlight comes on and goes off 2 minutes after the main lighting starts, simulating sunrise. Then the Far Red turns back on as a little sleep aid for 15 minutes before the Sanlight goes off and continues for 15 minutes after the Sanlight goes off, simulating sunset. The lighting with Far Red LEDs accelerates the metabolic adjustment after the light goes out. This allows the ladies to recover better at night and start the new day refreshed. Plants have an absorption spectrum that sees Far Red light as an indicator of the onset of darkness. We can take advantage of this fact with artificial lighting. The so-called phytochromes are responsible for the absorption of Far Red light waves. These are a type of photoreceptor proteins that influence a variety of plant growth processes. Phytochromes control processes such as germination, flowering, and photoperiodism, which is the regulation of the day-night rhythm. Essentially, there are two types or conformations of phytochromes in plants: The Pr-form (r=red) has its absorption maximum at around 660 nm, and the Pfr-form (fr=far red) at about 730 nm. What do phytochromes have to do with plant lights? Quite simply: By using the Far Red spectrum, relevant processes such as photoperiodism can be specifically influenced to optimize nighttime recovery and thus photosynthesis, leading to better yield results. If the low-energy Far Red radiation stays on for about 10 to 15 minutes longer than the regular light in the evening, it acts as a "sleep initiator." In this way, plants switch to their natural sleep mode faster and can use the extra time for recovery. Have you also noticed that they grow faster than in the Greenhouse Feeding mix? I think the mix is a bit "hot" during the first 2 weeks. I noticed this with all of them.

@Stony_German, so far the difference in growth is relatively small. I'll notice that in the next clone run. However, the Deepwater had very minimal burn on a leaf pair after transplanting with GreenHouseFeeding, which neither the Lobster nor the Guava had. You really have to say that the plants are doing great with BioTabs. It's as if the plants have been in that pot from the very beginning. Really, from the color of the leaves and the growth, it's exactly what you want.

@GanjaGecko, I was also very satisfied with GH-BioFeeding for years. However, I noticed that after the first repotting from the Solo cups into the soil mixed with GH Feeding, the growth is a bit slower. Not a big difference, but noticeable. I don't want to talk bad about GH; it's still one of the best organic long-term fertilizers on the market. By the way, I also see slower growth with the growmies in America when they use Dr.Eartz or Gaia Green. Even slower when I compare the weekly reports. I think they just prefer it less "sharp." Complaining at a high level. 😆😁

@Stony_German, I think there are crabs that feed on coconuts. That just screams for a new strain: Coconut Crab. 🥥🦀 Could be wild. Theorycraft? 😹 After crab, it definitely shouldn't taste like that. I think that would be pretty gross. 😂 Although I honestly feel the same way about all the Garlic strains. I've never smoked one, but just the thought... 🤢😹

@Stony_German, I kept the windows and doors of the room closed, which helped me manage the humidity well and maintain the VPD quite effectively. It's really crazy. As long as you keep the VPD in check, the high temperatures are very manageable.
