King's Banner #1 turned out to be a hermaphrodite and, unfortunately, I didn't notice the pollen sacs until a few had released pollen and removed the plant immediately. I did not see any pollen on the two remaining plants, but sprayed them down to make sure any remaining pollen was washed off.

Grow Questions

Not sure what’s going on with “Kings Banner #1”, with its hanging leaves, but have a feeling it’s been over watered. Plants were watered on 6/4, fed on 6/8, and watered again on 6/11. Due to flip to flower and feed on 6/15. Should I wait longer to feed make sure she dries out?

Wait until she dries out. You don't want any root problems to develop.

It appears that at least one of my two remaining plants had been pollinated by the hermaphrodite before I removed it. Any tips on making sure I harvest these seeds at the right time to maximize their viability for future grows?

@TreeFarmerCharlie Hi mate here is some info regarding seed production and harvesting them https://www.amsterdamseedsupply.com/faq-when-to-harvest-marijuana-seeds/ I don't mind the odd seed in my buds as it gives me more genetics to play with at a later date Happy growing mate

I checked on the plants today, totally expecting to see Kings Banner #1 all droopy while the others looked great. Nope...they were all droopy and thirsty. So I was completely wrong when I assumed I was over watering my plants. Now I think Kings Banner #1 was actually drying out before the others and maybe the soil felt damp just because it’s so cool from the fan I have blowing across the bags? At least I now know the soil has dried out and have a reference weight to go by from now on.

If the roots haven’t reached all the way around and to the bottom of the pot yet you could have clumps of dry and wet soil but your using smart pots so probably not the issue. Do you have a tray underneath the pots? I noticed my pots stayed moist forever when directly on the tent floor.

@PapaSmurf416, Thank you! Good luck with your Velvet Kush! My next grow is going to be OG Kush.

@TreeFarmerCharlie, that’s smart! I was thinking of getting something to raise the pots slightly from my trays. I know they get plenty of airflow due to the smart pot anyways but can’t see how it would hurt. I’ve also been thinking about spacing out my watering instead of once daily with a larger amount to 2-3 times with smaller amounts. Plants looking lovely by the way! I’ve got a Velvet Krush going right now.

@PapaSmurf416, I have the pots in wooden frames that keep the bottom of the pots about 2" off the floor so I can keep a light airflow under the pots to help keep the soil and roots nice and cool. I've over watered in the past so I'm probably better off having them dry out more quickly rather than slowly.

spraying pollen off can spread them :o

@Germano, I should've been more specific. I wiped any pollen I could see off with a damp paper towel and then sprayed the leaves with water to remove any that was left. I'm sure it could spread it from leaves to flowers but I thought it was a better option than leaving the pollen on the leaves to be blown around by the fans. This is the first time I've had pollen get released so I kind of went into panic mode.
