GreenHobbit Week 0 – The Start of a New Adventure 🌱 While my Laughing Buddha starts its flowering in the 120 × 120 tent, the next project is already kicking off in the heating cellar. This time, I want to document three extraordinary autoflowering genetics independently. Each plant will have its own diary, allowing for individual tracking of its development week by week. The finale will be Frosty’s Auto Freak from Khalifa Genetics. Why this strain? From the first glance, it was clear: This plant is anything but ordinary. The extraordinary Freakshow leaf shape immediately fascinated me and was the main reason I wanted to grow this strain. I'm curious to see when the first typical Freak leaves will show and how this special genetics will develop throughout the grow. It should grow as naturally as possible and unfold its own unique character. The Setup The three autos are growing together in a 70 × 70 cm tent in the heating cellar. For the seedling phase, I'm using a Secret Jardin 26 W. With the help of a PPFD sensor, I measured the lamp precisely for the first time and set it to a distance of 25 cm. This gives the seedlings around 160 µmol/m²/s – ideal conditions for a compact start. Currently, the plant is growing in a 0.5-liter pot. After the first few days, it will move into a 15-liter fabric pot. Germination Frosty’s Auto Freak surprised me right away. In the glass of water, it was the first to show its taproot. However, it took a bit longer to break through the soil surface and was ultimately the last of the three plants to see the light of day. This already shows that each genetics has its own rhythm. Current Status The seed leaves have opened, and already there is a slight purple coloration – an exciting first detail of this extraordinary genetics. I’m very curious to see when the first typical Freakshow leaves will develop and how visually different this plant will be from the two ACE strains. Until next week! 🍀

GreenHobbit 🌱 Frosty’s Auto Freak – Week 1 When you see this plant for the first time, you might think something is off. But that’s exactly what makes Frosty’s Auto Freak so exciting. Right after germination, it showed its unusual leaf structure. While the two ACE ladies developed completely normal seedlings, Frosty’s looked completely different from day one. That’s why I really wanted to try this strain for myself. Despite its crazy leaf appearance, it looks healthy. The center keeps growing steadily, and the color is a nice deep green. To me, it looks like a healthy plant just following its extraordinary genetics. It also got to move into its 15-liter final pot this week and handled the transition without any issues. The Spider Farmer SE3000 continues to run at moderate power and seems to be doing well for her too. I’m incredibly curious to see how this plant will develop in the coming weeks. It will probably be the most unusual lady of this entire grow – and that’s exactly why I’m looking forward to her journey the most.

GreenHobbit Frosty’s Auto Freak – Week 2 The Frosty’s Auto Freak is definitely the most extraordinary plant of this project. With each passing day, it becomes clearer why this genetic variety attracts so many curious looks. The first real freak leaves are developing beautifully now, and each new leaf generation looks even crazier than the previous one. Despite the unusual leaf shape, the plant appears remarkably healthy. The leaf color is uniform, the stem is getting stronger, and the center is steadily progressing. The slightly burnt leaf tips from the beginning of the week have not spread any further. Since the lamp has been raised a bit, the plant has been continuously pushing out new leaves and shows no signs of stress. Week by week, it’s losing more of its typical cannabis appearance and developing its own unique character. I’m looking forward to seeing how extremely this special genetic variety will change in the coming weeks.

GreenHobbit Frosty’s Auto Freak — Week 3 Week 3 – The little freak finds its way Frosty’s Auto Freak remains by far the most unusual plant of this run. At the beginning of the third week, it was still noticeably smaller than the two ACE autos. Its extraordinary leaf structure and somewhat chaotic growth make it look almost like a completely different plant species at first glance. But over the course of this week, it has taken an important step: it is now growing properly. The new growth has become significantly stronger, and several side shoots have developed. Especially the two upper side shoots are catching up quickly and are now forming several dominant growth points together with the main tip. Some of the older lower leaves still show the small damage and discolorations from the early development. However, these have not spread further. The crucial new growth looks much healthier. The freak was also fed with Green House Feeding at the end of the week and so far shows no negative reaction to it. It will likely remain significantly smaller than Malawi × Northern Lights and Zamaldelica – but that’s not really what this plant is about anyway. Its unusual morphology becomes more interesting week by week. While two pretty classic cannabis plants are now standing on the left and right, the freak still looks like some prehistoric fern that accidentally wandered into the grow tent. 😂 I’m extremely curious to see how this crazy leaf structure will look later along with the flowers.

GreenHobbit 👽 Frosty’s Auto Freak — Week 4 And then there’s the Freak. What can I say? Cannabis according to its own rules. 🤣 Even in week 4, it remains by far the most unusual plant in the tent. While Malawi and Zamaldelica are now forming large classic fan leaves and dense crowns, the Freak is working with its strongly deformed or unusually segmented leaves, long, almost bare side shoots, and compact leaf clusters at their ends. Still, it’s important: It’s growing. The stem is getting stronger, the existing side shoots are developing further, and fresh growth is continuously emerging in the center. The unusual appearance continues to clearly belong to its special phenotype and doesn’t look like the plant has fundamentally stopped developing. To ensure it reaches the height of the other two plants despite its small stature, its 15-liter fabric pot is now sitting on a box about 20 cm high. At the end of the week, there was also a change of position: The Freak moved from the back center to the front right, while the Zamaldelica took over its old spot. In terms of lighting, this hardly makes a difference due to the platform – but now the Freak can be observed much better. And there’s definitely enough to observe with this plant. 😂 By appropriately rotating the pots, an attempt was also made to orient its long side shoots away from the tent walls and into free areas of the space. What’s also interesting is its water consumption. All three plants received 1.5 liters each four days ago, but the pot of the Freak is still noticeably heavier today than the other two. Its smaller plant and leaf volume seems to clearly make a difference in water needs. Therefore, it gets its own watering rhythm and isn’t just watered together with Malawi and Zamaldelica. The installation of the exhaust is also just right for it. Instead of the usual 67–74% rH, the tent is now increasingly in the low to mid-60s range. Conclusion Week 4: It will probably never be the biggest plant of this run – but it might be the one that gets talked about the most in the end. Every new shoot looks like the Freak has decided to reinvent cannabis once again. 👽🌿 And that’s exactly why this run is slowly becoming a lot of fun: Three autos, three completely different growth forms – Sativa rocket, ball bush, and alien. 😂

GreenHobbit 👽 Frosty’s Auto Freak – Week 5 And then there’s… the thing. 🤣 While Malawi and Zamaldelica are now pretty clearly showing what a cannabis plant should look like in early flowering, the Freak continues to have absolutely none of those conventions. It stands alone among the three, still elevated, currently reaching about 54 cm. At the same time, it has also started to stretch noticeably. Due to its mutation, however, this looks completely different: between the completely twisted leaf clusters, the internodes are getting longer, and the now surprisingly strong main stem is becoming more and more visible. The stem is particularly surprising to me. Despite the chaotic leaf growth, the plant has built a pretty massive framework and developed several strong side branches. But even more interesting is the flowering. Among all the deformed leaves, there are indeed increasingly recognizable flower clusters with white pistils. The flowers themselves look significantly "more normal" than the rest of the plant – as far as one can even speak of normal with this Freak. 😂 I’m extremely curious to see what the finished buds will look like. Right now, there’s a pretty bizarre mix of a strong stem, long branches, fern/parley/alien leaves, and surprisingly normal female flowers. It’s certainly not the plant that would win a beauty contest by classic standards in this tent. But without a doubt, it’s the one I look at first every time I open the tent.

GreenHobbit Frosty’s Auto Freak – Week 6 What can I say? This thing is escalating. 🤣👽 For weeks, the Freak was by far the smallest plant in the tent and even had to stand on a pedestal to be somewhat level with the two ACE autos. Then someone apparently found the stretch switch. Within a few days, it shot up dramatically. The pedestal has completely disappeared, and now it stands roughly at the same height as the Zamaldelica. Its entire appearance has changed in no time. From a small, stocky mutant, it has become a long, slender, and still completely absurd-looking mutant. 😂 Its nutrition also differs significantly from the other two plants. While Malawi and Zamaldelica became increasingly lighter, the Freak remained extremely dark green for a long time and showed tip burn as well as noticeable clawing. My suspicion: Since its stretch started much later, its nutrient needs were initially lower. Now that it is growing massively and simultaneously developing flowers, the ratio could normalize again. That’s why it only got water during the last watering, unlike the other two. The flowers are still developing excellently. More and more white pistils are appearing among the completely crazy foliage, and there is already a good amount of resin visible on the small leaves. Today, I also defoliated a bit at the bottom of all three plants. I took a whole bunch of leaves and took a deep pull from it. The result of the professional sensory analysis: Herbaceous – with a hint of homemade liver sausage. 🤣🤣🤣 Which of the three ladies is responsible for this has not yet been definitively determined. The investigation is ongoing. 👽

GreenHobbit Week 7 – Frosty’s Auto Freak And then there’s… this thing. 🤣 81 cm tall and still looks like someone accidentally placed a completely different plant species between the two ACE ladies. Frosty remains extremely dark green, still sporting her eagle claws and the burnt leaf tips from the previous overfeeding. That’s why she was treated differently during fertilization compared to Malawi and Zami. The old leaves aren’t suddenly going to look pretty again – what matters to me now is what’s happening with the buds. And there’s a lot happening. ❄️ The name Frosty’s Auto Freak is slowly becoming a reality. The sugar leaves are now really thickly coated in resin, and among the three plants, she is clearly the frostiest. Her bud structure is also completely different from the two ACE ladies: instead of long Sativa spears, she’s spreading countless small flowers over her heavily branched shoots. And of course, her leaves still look completely crazy. 🤣 By the end of the week, she also got her share of the remaining Buddha mix. So this time, all three received the same light Hesi feeding with EC 0.61. Light here too: SE3000 at 80% at about 40 cm. Height: 81 cm. In terms of beauty, Frosty probably wouldn’t win a classic beauty contest. But in the competition “Who looks the least like cannabis while still producing decent resin?” she would likely rank quite high. 🤣❄️🌿 Week 7 – Overall Conclusion The funniest thing about this grow is really the direct comparison. All three are under the same lamp, getting the same climate, and are practically the same height at 81 cm / 83 cm / 81 cm – and could hardly look more different. Malawi and Zamaldelica are still clearly showing the effects of our nutritional problems, but they are reliably continuing to develop their flowers. Frosty sits next to them, dark green, clawed, and completely freaky, and is starting to shine nicely. 😂 Not three perfect plants – but definitely three interesting ones. And that’s exactly why this run is so much fun right now.

GreenHobbit 👽 Frosty’s Auto Freak – Week 8 And then there’s… the thing. 🤣 Frosty continues to stubbornly refuse to look like a normal cannabis plant. The extremely narrow, twisted, and partially almost black leaves make it more like some kind of plant that you better not feed at night. 😂 But under this complete freak show growth, there are now really beautiful buds. Especially the head bud has noticeably swollen, and the resin production is simply brutal. In the close-ups, you can see how densely sugar leaves and buds are covered with trichomes. The name Frosty is truly deserved by now. Many pistils are already orange/brown and retracted. At the same time, there are still some lighter areas, and the buds seem to be gaining a bit more. Their buds look significantly more compact and massive compared to the Malawi. The dark to violet foliage together with the orange pistils and this white trichome layer looks completely insane now. And the best part: This very plant has been our little oddball from the very beginning. Pretty? That’s debatable. Normal? Not at all. Interesting? Absolutely. 🤣👽❄️ And I believe that Frosty will be the one we are most curious about when it comes to drying and the first smoke.

GreenHobbit Frosty’s Auto Freak – Week 9 Frosty is still showing no signs of wanting to look like a normal cannabis plant in week 9. On the contrary: The further the bloom progresses, the crazier it gets. The leaves have become extremely dark, almost black/purple. The curled, claw-like leaves have been accompanying her for a long time now and are not a new problem this week. Frosty was already significantly darker than her two housemates early on and showed tip burn and clawing back then. What grows among all this alien foliage is quite impressive by now. The buds are compact, a large part of the pistils is already orange/brown, and above all, this plant is completely covered in trichomes. But even Frosty couldn’t fool the microscope. 😅 During the check on 25.09., the trichomes on the calyxes were about 60–70 % milky and 30–40 % clear/translucent. Amber was only found sporadically. Despite her visually extremely mature appearance, she was still not at the finish line. And that’s exactly why this freak show is so exciting: You can hardly assess her ripeness based on color at all. Conclusion Week 9: Black, crooked, completely absurdly grown, and now unbelievably frosty. 🤣 Not quite ready for harvest – but definitely one of the most interesting plants I’ve had in the tent so far. ⸻ The great thing about week 9 for me is really the direct comparison: Zami is turning yellow and classically autumnal, Malawi is transforming into a yellow-purple Sativa spear forest, and Frosty looks like Darth Vader’s houseplant next to it. 🤣🖤

GreenHobbit Frosty’s Auto Freak – Kalifa Seeds What else should I write about this completely crazy thing? 🤣 Frosty remains Frosty. The leaves are still extremely dark, almost black-purple, curled up, and look like someone decided to ignore all the rules for a normal cannabis plant. This has been the case for weeks now and is nothing new. While the leaves continue to do their own thing, the flowers are getting more interesting. The buds are compact, the pistils have mostly retracted and turned orange – and the resin production is simply absurd now. Especially in today’s macros, you can really see how dense the trichomes are on the purple calyxes. 🖤 And for the first time, the ripeness check is getting exciting: The trichomes on the calyxes are now mostly milky. Clear heads are still present, but today I also spotted the first distinctly amber-colored trichomes. So Frosty is the first of the three to hit the actual harvest window. But… I only like my bananas when they get brown spots. 🍌🤣 I want a heavy, deep effect, so Frosty can consciously continue to ripen. The goal is not "just finished," but nicely milky with a clearly visible amber proportion. Conclusion of the week: She could slowly fall – but she must not. 😏 The freak is still getting its brown spots. 🍌🖤
