GreenHobbit Week 0 – The Start of a New Adventure 🌱 While my Laughing Buddha starts its flowering in the 120 × 120 tent, the next project is already kicking off in the heating cellar. This time, I want to document three extraordinary autoflowering genetics independently. Each plant will have its own diary, allowing for individual tracking of its development week by week. The finale will be Frosty’s Auto Freak from Khalifa Genetics. Why this strain? From the first glance, it was clear: This plant is anything but ordinary. The extraordinary Freakshow leaf shape immediately fascinated me and was the main reason I wanted to grow this strain. I'm curious to see when the first typical Freak leaves will show and how this special genetics will develop throughout the grow. It should grow as naturally as possible and unfold its own unique character. The Setup The three autos are growing together in a 70 × 70 cm tent in the heating cellar. For the seedling phase, I'm using a Secret Jardin 26 W. With the help of a PPFD sensor, I measured the lamp precisely for the first time and set it to a distance of 25 cm. This gives the seedlings around 160 µmol/m²/s – ideal conditions for a compact start. Currently, the plant is growing in a 0.5-liter pot. After the first few days, it will move into a 15-liter fabric pot. Germination Frosty’s Auto Freak surprised me right away. In the glass of water, it was the first to show its taproot. However, it took a bit longer to break through the soil surface and was ultimately the last of the three plants to see the light of day. This already shows that each genetics has its own rhythm. Current Status The seed leaves have opened, and already there is a slight purple coloration – an exciting first detail of this extraordinary genetics. I’m very curious to see when the first typical Freakshow leaves will develop and how visually different this plant will be from the two ACE strains. Until next week! 🍀

GreenHobbit 🌱 Frosty’s Auto Freak – Week 1 When you see this plant for the first time, you might think something is off. But that’s exactly what makes Frosty’s Auto Freak so exciting. Right after germination, it showed its unusual leaf structure. While the two ACE ladies developed completely normal seedlings, Frosty’s looked completely different from day one. That’s why I really wanted to try this strain for myself. Despite its crazy leaf appearance, it looks healthy. The center keeps growing steadily, and the color is a nice deep green. To me, it looks like a healthy plant just following its extraordinary genetics. It also got to move into its 15-liter final pot this week and handled the transition without any issues. The Spider Farmer SE3000 continues to run at moderate power and seems to be doing well for her too. I’m incredibly curious to see how this plant will develop in the coming weeks. It will probably be the most unusual lady of this entire grow – and that’s exactly why I’m looking forward to her journey the most.

GreenHobbit Frosty’s Auto Freak – Week 2 The Frosty’s Auto Freak is definitely the most extraordinary plant of this project. With each passing day, it becomes clearer why this genetic variety attracts so many curious looks. The first real freak leaves are developing beautifully now, and each new leaf generation looks even crazier than the previous one. Despite the unusual leaf shape, the plant appears remarkably healthy. The leaf color is uniform, the stem is getting stronger, and the center is steadily progressing. The slightly burnt leaf tips from the beginning of the week have not spread any further. Since the lamp has been raised a bit, the plant has been continuously pushing out new leaves and shows no signs of stress. Week by week, it’s losing more of its typical cannabis appearance and developing its own unique character. I’m looking forward to seeing how extremely this special genetic variety will change in the coming weeks.

GreenHobbit Frosty’s Auto Freak — Week 3 Week 3 – The little freak finds its way Frosty’s Auto Freak remains by far the most unusual plant of this run. At the beginning of the third week, it was still noticeably smaller than the two ACE autos. Its extraordinary leaf structure and somewhat chaotic growth make it look almost like a completely different plant species at first glance. But over the course of this week, it has taken an important step: it is now growing properly. The new growth has become significantly stronger, and several side shoots have developed. Especially the two upper side shoots are catching up quickly and are now forming several dominant growth points together with the main tip. Some of the older lower leaves still show the small damage and discolorations from the early development. However, these have not spread further. The crucial new growth looks much healthier. The freak was also fed with Green House Feeding at the end of the week and so far shows no negative reaction to it. It will likely remain significantly smaller than Malawi × Northern Lights and Zamaldelica – but that’s not really what this plant is about anyway. Its unusual morphology becomes more interesting week by week. While two pretty classic cannabis plants are now standing on the left and right, the freak still looks like some prehistoric fern that accidentally wandered into the grow tent. 😂 I’m extremely curious to see how this crazy leaf structure will look later along with the flowers.

GreenHobbit 👽 Frosty’s Auto Freak — Week 4 And then there’s the Freak. What can I say? Cannabis according to its own rules. 🤣 Even in week 4, it remains by far the most unusual plant in the tent. While Malawi and Zamaldelica are now forming large classic fan leaves and dense crowns, the Freak is working with its strongly deformed or unusually segmented leaves, long, almost bare side shoots, and compact leaf clusters at their ends. Still, it’s important: It’s growing. The stem is getting stronger, the existing side shoots are developing further, and fresh growth is continuously emerging in the center. The unusual appearance continues to clearly belong to its special phenotype and doesn’t look like the plant has fundamentally stopped developing. To ensure it reaches the height of the other two plants despite its small stature, its 15-liter fabric pot is now sitting on a box about 20 cm high. At the end of the week, there was also a change of position: The Freak moved from the back center to the front right, while the Zamaldelica took over its old spot. In terms of lighting, this hardly makes a difference due to the platform – but now the Freak can be observed much better. And there’s definitely enough to observe with this plant. 😂 By appropriately rotating the pots, an attempt was also made to orient its long side shoots away from the tent walls and into free areas of the space. What’s also interesting is its water consumption. All three plants received 1.5 liters each four days ago, but the pot of the Freak is still noticeably heavier today than the other two. Its smaller plant and leaf volume seems to clearly make a difference in water needs. Therefore, it gets its own watering rhythm and isn’t just watered together with Malawi and Zamaldelica. The installation of the exhaust is also just right for it. Instead of the usual 67–74% rH, the tent is now increasingly in the low to mid-60s range. Conclusion Week 4: It will probably never be the biggest plant of this run – but it might be the one that gets talked about the most in the end. Every new shoot looks like the Freak has decided to reinvent cannabis once again. 👽🌿 And that’s exactly why this run is slowly becoming a lot of fun: Three autos, three completely different growth forms – Sativa rocket, ball bush, and alien. 😂

GreenHobbit 👽 Frosty’s Auto Freak – Week 5 And then there’s… the thing. 🤣 While Malawi and Zamaldelica are now pretty clearly showing what a cannabis plant should look like in early flowering, the Freak continues to have absolutely none of those conventions. It stands alone among the three, still elevated, currently reaching about 54 cm. At the same time, it has also started to stretch noticeably. Due to its mutation, however, this looks completely different: between the completely twisted leaf clusters, the internodes are getting longer, and the now surprisingly strong main stem is becoming more and more visible. The stem is particularly surprising to me. Despite the chaotic leaf growth, the plant has built a pretty massive framework and developed several strong side branches. But even more interesting is the flowering. Among all the deformed leaves, there are indeed increasingly recognizable flower clusters with white pistils. The flowers themselves look significantly "more normal" than the rest of the plant – as far as one can even speak of normal with this Freak. 😂 I’m extremely curious to see what the finished buds will look like. Right now, there’s a pretty bizarre mix of a strong stem, long branches, fern/parley/alien leaves, and surprisingly normal female flowers. It’s certainly not the plant that would win a beauty contest by classic standards in this tent. But without a doubt, it’s the one I look at first every time I open the tent.
