SUNDAY 6/23:
I had to suspend my indoor operation for a couple months and within a week I'm so bored that I don't know what to do with myself....so...
I'm gonna grow 5 total plants in a secluded, mostly shady area on a nearby property and see what results.
1 * CC4 (Candy Cane #5 x C4 #3 - the purple pheno)
1 * Early Candy (Candy Cane #1 x Early Miss #2)
1 * Candesia (Candy Cane #5 x Auto Amnesia #2)
...plus a couple others which will be in other diaries.
I'm using the complete Biotabs line of products for this stealth grow..hopefully a few less sneaky midnight trips required to keep them happy.
I floated the beans today, They are under a dome, on a heat mat now. Once sprouted, I'll plant the seedlings in rockwool cubes with Great White and Mycrotrex. They will be planted in 3 gallon pots when ready. I'll probably let them get to about the 3rd internode before I move them outdoors.
TUESDAY:
I floated a second CC x EM seed today. The first one sunk and cracked open but still hasn't sprouted. Both the CC4 and Candesia beans sunk and also cracked open. I should be able to dip their tap roots into the Great White tomorrow and plant them in cubes.
For stealth purposes, simplicity in transfer to the grow site, and to give the seedlings an advantage, I've decided to transfer the rockwool-cubed seedlings from the dome to some 6" pots (1/2 gallon) that I've prepared with startrex and silicium flash. I'll grow the seedlings under my 2000w blurple light for a couple of weeks before taking them outside. I should be able to carry all of them in a big box out to the site without injuring them. This will give me time to start sneaking the big pots out to the site. I'll pre-mix the startrex and silicium flash on-site and add the mycrotrex when I transplant them to the 3 gallon pots and give them a good douching with bactrex and orgatrex to get them started well.
My soil has been recharging for several months with tons of good stuff added (earthworm castings, bat guano, azomite, biochar, bokashi, nectar for the godz one-shot and myco), plus I'll be growing them with the biotabs line of products, so they will have a good chance. I figure that I'll probably fix up their first batch of PK booster compost tea right away and douche them with it in their first week outdoors. Every little thing I can do to help them strengthen for the oncoming heat they'll experience...probably some extra kelp too...
THURSDAY:
They are all planted in cubes now.
FRIDAY:
Still waiting on them to emerge.
SATURDAY:
Still nothing...so...I floated the following:
10 x Candy Cane x Amnesia Auto (Seedsman) (F1) seeds
1 x Candy Cane x Early Miss (F1) seed
1 x Candy Cane x White Widow(CKS) (F1) seed
1 x Candy Cane (S1) seed
If my luck changes and a bunch of them sprout, not sure what I'll do. Knowing myself, I probably won't have the heart to kill them, but I can only spare about another cubic foot of soil, so the extra plants may end up in 2 gallon nursery pots (1.67 gallons) with Osmocote Plus for food...and maybe even a few of them in 6" pots (1/2 gallon) if I get really lucky and they all take off...
I also floated a Fastbuds C4 and a mystery breeder Sour Diesel bean, but they probably won't be included in this diary if they do grow...or maybe I'll change the name of the diary..
TUESDAY:
Maybe the "distilled" water I used before had chlorine in it, so I bought another gallon of distilled water and even left the lid off for a night so as to ensure any chlorine dissipated. I planted half of them in rockwool cubes and half in rapid rooters.
WEDNESDAY:
I see several sprouts breaking through..
I decided to go ahead and float 2 x Candy Cane x White Widow Auto (Seedsman) seeds produced in February as backups.
I also floated another 2 x Candy Cane x C4 (purple pheno) beans. Worst case scenario is they'll end up growing in 6" pots if everything else takes off...or maybe I'll get some more soil..
so, the list is now:
3 x Candy Cane(CKS) x C4(Fastbuds) (F1) seed
3 x Candy Cane(CKS) x Early Miss(CKS) (F1) seeds
10 x Candy Cane(CKS) x Amnesia Auto(Seedsman) (F1) seeds
1 x Candy Cane(CKS) x White Widow(CKS) (F1) seed
1 x Candy Cane(CKS) (S1) seed
2 x Candy Cane(CKS) x White Widow Auto(Seedsman) (F1) seeds
FRIDAY:
As of today, this diary includes:
5 x Candy Cane by Amnesia Auto sprouts
1 x Candy Cane by Early Miss sprout
1 x Candy Cane by White Widow Auto(CKS) sprout
1 x Candy Cane (S1) sprout
There's still another handful that might emerge..3 x CC by C4 and 2 x CC x WW(seedsman)
SUNDAY 7/14:
As of today, these seedlings are in the diary:
1 x Candy Cane (S1)
1 x Candy Cane x Early Miss Auto
1 x Candy Cane x White Widow Auto
3 x Candy Cane x C4'matic
3 x Candy Cane x Amnesia Auto
TUESDAY 7/16:
I graduated two of my hybrids to 3 gallon pots and moved them outdoors today.
Both were Candy Cane x Amnesia Autos that had been in solo cups. They were both extremely well rooted and should do just fine. I watered them in with spring water and a little extra bokashi, dolomite, and azomite and wished them well.
I hope to graduate a couple of the Candy Cane x C4's tomorrow or the next day, but it will be another week before the other CC x C4, the Candy Cane x Early Miss, and the Candy Cane (S1) are ready.
Neither Candy Cane x White Widow seedling made it...😥
WEDNESDAY:
I transplanted another Candy Cane x Amnesia and a Candy Cane x C4(purple pheno) into 3 gallon pots today. I watered them in with Azomite, Dolomite, Biochar, Kelp Me Kelp You and sprayed them with Boom Boom Juice a few times early in the morning. By noon, they were standing at attention and growing a millimeter a minute. They are loving the sunshine.😎
Tomorrow, I'll transplant another Candy Cane x C4 and another Candy Cane x Amnesia.
The Candy Cane x Early Miss is a misshapen miniature mongrel, but I'm hoping she snaps out of her funk and gets busy growing soon. The Candy Cane(S1), and the last two Candy Cane x C4's are tiny little runts..I'm hoping the Boom Boom Juice I misted them with all morning will kick them into gear....🙏
I was really hoping to have at least one Candy Cane x White Widow in the grow too, so I went ahead and floated another bean last night..it had sunk by this morning. Fingers crossed...
THURSDAY:
I transplanted another Candy Cane x C4 and another Candy Cane x Amnesia into 3 gallon pots today. Out of Bio Tabs, so mixed up some of my recharged soil with a little extra coco coir, perlite, bokashi, biochar, and a handful of compost, along with some Osmocote Plus, then watered them in with azomite, dolomite and Kelp Me Kelp You.
The day of sunshine did seem to kick the Candy Cane x Early Miss into gear, but I didn't really see much growth on the other CC x C4 or the Candy Cane (S1)..what did grow is really twisted up like the Early Miss hybrid..I'm thinking that I must've used too much Mycotrex and/or Great White on the new seedlings. They have all been rooted like crazy, but several had weird-looking, slow-starting, twisted foliage.😕
So the current line-up of hybrids in this diary consists of:
4 * Candy Cane x Amnesia Auto (planted)
2 * Candy Cane x C4 (planted)
1 * Candy Cane x Early Miss (not yet planted)
1 * Candy Cane x Amnesia Auto (not yet planted)
1 * Candy Cane (S1) (not yet planted)
FRIDAY:
Inspected for pests and repositioned them a few inches over so that they get another half hour of sunlight per day. I sprayed the area with Ortho again and bought a little air bubbler to aerate water for compost tea.
SATURDAY:
They've all put on a couple of inches since Thursday. I mixed up a fairly weak batch of Big Bloom and Grow Big plus some Kelp Me Kelp You and douched them with about a half-gallon right as the sun was coming up. I also prepared a foliar feed using Big Bloom and Kelp Me Kelp You and sprayed them well as the sun came up, and again after it was going down. I also started aerating 4 gallons of water today...will add the compost tea tomorrow morning and let it cook for 24 hours.
The Candy Cane x Early MIss is a few days away from being planted and moving outdoors, and one of the remaining Candy Cane x C4's is a few days behind her. The other Candy Cane x C4 and the Candy Cane (S1) probably won't make it, but that's fine..I had really only planned to grow 5 hybrids plus a photo and a Zkittlez auto.
Also, the Candy Cane x White Widow bean may yet come up.
SUNDAY:
I foliar fed them and sprinkled a little more Silicium Flash on top of the soil of all my plants and also mixed about 4 grams of Bactrex into a jug with 3/4 gallon of bottled water and douched them with about 2 pints each. That should really get the beneficial bacteria and fungus kicked into overdrive.
I started brewing a 4 gallon batch of compost tea today. Since I don't have any Orgatrex, I am using a little Big Bloom, Kelp Me Kelp You, and Grow Big in the tea in addition to the PK Compost Booster tea from Bio Tabs. I'll add Mycotrex to it about 2 hours before it finishes and thoroughly dowse them all tomorrow morning.
MONDAY:
I fed the outdoor ones each about a liter of compost tea and foliar fed them a couple times as the sun came up, and gave each of the remaining seedlings in the cabinet about 2 shot glasses full each and foliar fed them as well.
It looks like I've finally got a Candy Cane x White Widow Auto seed to sprout...fingers crossed that she takes off normally. If she does fully emerge, she's already waaaay behind the rest...🙏
Late last night one of my cats ate half of one of the biggest leaves on my Early Miss hybrid, but she's okay..actually starting to grow. I may actually plant her outdoors tomorrow.👍
It's been a decent week for them...tomorrow begins a new week.
TUESDAY 7/23:
I potted up the Candy Cane x Early Miss and moved her outdoors today. I foliar fed everybody and checked them for bugs. The White Widow hybrid still looks the same..barely showing any green..I'll leave it alone..
WEDNESDAY:
I carried my pole saw down to the site at daybreak and removed a few smaller branches above them and to the West. I will visit them again this evening and see if it is allowing some evening sun to reach them.
I foliar fed them and gave them a little douche of Bactrex this morning. We had a cool front come through today, so the high will just be 87f and it's dropping to the mid to low 60's tonight..hooray! They're forecasting another day or two like this before the return to "oven-like" conditions.👍
THURSDAY-SUNDAY:
They are doing great. I just watered and foliar fed Thursday, foliar fed on Friday, foliar fed and let them dry out some more on Saturday, and douched them with compost tea on Sunday.
MONDAY:
I only stared and took photos today...a few of the taller ones have popped a few pistils.👍
Tomorrow begins week 5. Interestingly enough, the 4 hybrids I used Osmocote Plus on are slightly outpacing the 4 plants with Bio Tabs. Even the one that was planted a full week later has caught up to the Bio Tabs plants. To be fair, I am using all the other Bio Tabs products on the plants with Osmocote pelllets too, but I'm thinking it's those products that really make the difference (Startrex, Mycotrex, Bactrex, PK Booster Compost Tea, Silicium Flash, and Boom Boom Spray), and that any slow-release plant food with similar NPK ratios will do the trick.
TUESDAY 7/30:
I gave them all a little drink of 6.0 ph'd water with kelp me kelp you, great white, and open sesame. Only a 4 of them have started flowering, but the others aren't far behind, so what the hell.
WEDNESDAY:
They got a drink of Bactrex today, but that's it. Compost tea tomorrow. Nice little tufts on tops and in armpits on a few of them.
THURSDAY:
Temperatures have climbed back above 100f, so they're drying out pretty quickly now. They got about a 1/2 gallon douching each with some killer compost tea that I brewed up for a couple of days.
Besides the PK Booster, it included Big Bloom, Kelp Me Kelp You, Great White, and I added some Bembe for the sugars and carbs, plus all the additional earthworm castings, and bat/seabird guano it contains. That shit was frothing up and smelled good enough to drink(almost). I shored them up with bamboo stakes because we're expecting some heavy winds and they are still quite lanky.
FRIDAY:
Finally seeing some lateral branching now, even though they are in full stretch mode. About time...😐
SATURDAY:
I foliar fed them at sunrise with some Big Bloom and Boom Boom spray. We had a thundershower about an hour later, so I didn't need to water them today. The rainwater was fairly acid, so I should see a significant boost in growth.
TUESDAY 8/6:
Except for the Early MIss hybrid and one of the C4 hybrids, everybody is flowering.
Humidity has been very high, so none of them needed water today.
WEDNESDAY:
They were still fairly damp a 3 inches depth, but I am impatient, so I gave them each about a half-gallon of water with big bloom, kelp me kelp you, bembe, open sesame, great white, and terpinator. It was a 100f degrees with a 15mph wind today (108f heat index)..kinda felt like a hair-dryer, so they probably appreciated it. The CC x C4 plant whose seed came from a purple pheno is stretching like crazy. She put on about 6 inches in two days...she's the tallest by several inches.
THURSDAY:
Another hot one today...see some chewing damage on one of my CC x Amnesia's (probably a grasshopper), and a weirdly discolored leaf on a CC x C4 (looks like a PH issue)..I guess my trained sentry frogs are falling down on the job...or maybe the plants have just gotten too tall for them to be effective at pest control near the canopy...
Both of the younger plants (CC x EM and CC x C4) are now flowering.
FRIDAY:
I spread a bunch of granular insecticide and sprayed ortho all around the garden area today. I also took some photos and foliar fed them with big bloom and boom boom spray.
SATURDAY:
In the morning, I gave everybody about 32oz of water with bactrex, then in the evening I fed everybody about a half-gallon of some super frothy compost tea that I brewed for several days. It included pk booster, big bloom, bembe, kelp me kelp you, great white, beastie bloomz, and terpinator.
SUNDAY:
Still stretching...probably will have to supercrop a few of them to keep them below the camouflage netting...or I might just stake them down and train them to be horizontally oriented.
MONDAY:
Last day of week 6. They are considerably further behind than what the same hybrids ran in my tent in the last grow. Not in height, but in overall development. I assume it's because of the significantly shorter photoperiod (14 rather than 20 hours daily). I expect they'll go a little longer as a result. I'm getting geared up to start my Fall indoor grow, which will hopefully consist of 9 diaries, so I'm not liking the idea of continuing to maintain the current 4 diaries as well...😕
TUESDAY 8/13:
I fed them each about a half gallon with big bloom, bembe, kelp me kelp you, terpinator, and beastie bloomz. Some of them are still really stretching, but a few are just budding up.
WEDNESDAY:
We had a little rain last night and it was sunny today, but the temperatures are about 10 degrees cooler than usual. I see some signs of spider mites here and there, so I'll spray with trifecta crop control as soon as the humidity is lower.
THURSDAY:
No time for gardening at all today...😕
FRIDAY:
I missed a day only to return and find problems...damnit!😖
Two of the Candy Cane x Amnesia's suddenly have what looks like a bad calcium and/or phosphorous deficiency. I sprinkled some bat guano and silicium flash onto their's and all the other plant's soil and watered it in with about a half gallon each of water including calimagic, beastie bloomz, terpinator, and bembe. I also thoroughly sprayed them with boom boom spray. I started brewing another batch of the PK booster compost tea including extra bat guano, earthworm castings, bembe, big bloom, and kelp me kelp you. It should be ready on Sunday...hang in there girls!🙏
SATURDAY:
Went boating..no gardening today.
SUNDAY:
I gave them all about a half-gallon of compost tea today. The sick one looks like shit...will probably try transplanting her into a 5 gallon pot in the next day or two.
MONDAY:
I transplanted the sick one into a 5 gallon pot today and sprayed her and everybody else with boom boom spray and big bloom.
TUESDAY 8/20:
The sick one hasn't improved yet..might not..she's pretty far gone.😟
Everybody else looks okay and they continue to pack on the pistils.
WEDNESDAY:
The sick plant continue to look shitty, but a few of the others are bulking up pretty well now despite the lack of direct sunlight.
THURSDAY:
I don't think the sick one is gonna make it...she lost too much foliage all at once. Everybody's pot had pretty much dried out so I turned on the soaker hose for about 10 minutes. I'm watering them all tomorrow morning with bactrex, bembe, and terpinator..and maybe some silica.
FRIDAY:
I fed them a half gallon of bactrex, bembe, terpinator, and armor si, then it rained about a half-inch a few hours later. The sick one was too far gone and has been harvested...it was a CC x Amnesia..very sad..😢
SATURDAY:
Hot and sunny day...too busy to check on them.
SUNDAY:
They're looking good. Both of the C4 x CC hybrid's flowers are pinkish/lavender...nice.👌
TUESDAY 8/27:
It rained most of the day today, so I didn't go check on them at all.
WEDNESDAY:
It rained again this morning, but was sunny the rest of the day.
Normally, the CC x C4 and CC x Amnesia's are finishing up on week 9 and 10, but being outdoors and getting less direct light is causing them to take a lot longer to ripen up. I'd say I'm still at least 3 weeks away from harvest at this point.
THURSDAY:
Just took a peek at them today..
FRIDAY:
At dawn, I foliar fed them with boom boom spray and big bloom. Their pots are still pretty damn heavy...they got a good soaking with rainwater the other day, so I'll feed them well when they dry back out a bit.
SATURDAY:
Did nothing...
SUNDAY:
Did nothing again..
MONDAY:
I cleaned my aquarium filters today and used that water along with all the normal feed and gave them all about a half-gallon each.
TUESDAY 9/3:
A the trichs on a couple of them are getting pretty cloudy, but they still have at least another week of flushing ahead of them. The rest have a couple weeks left to go I think.
WEDNESDAY:
I was out at the property for awhile today, hosed off the horsies and cleaned their hooves really well. I was there long enough that I was able to move the plants into direct sunshine for an extra couple hours. I fed everybody with a half-gallon of water including bembe, terpinator, tiger bloom, beastie bloomz, armor si, and big bloom...just enough to wet their whistles.
THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY:
I was sick as a dog . 2-day stomach virus, followed by an acute pancreatitis attack...
😷
MONDAY:
I gave them all about a half-gallon of aquarium water with some bembe, beastie bloomz, and tiger bloom.
TUESDAY 9/10:
They all look pretty haggard, but not quite ready yet..I took a sprinkler down there and swapped out the soaker hose for about 30 minutes of "pseudo-rain" with the well water.
The amnesia crosses are still two weeks out, but the C4 crosses will prolly just get one more compost tea feeding, then water only for a few days and I'll cut and hang them.
WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY:
I had company in from out of town and just set the soaker hose on a timer for about 10 minutes per day to keep them alive.
SATURDAY:
I brought the two runts and my "solo cup" plant home with me and put them into a closet that I'm getting ready for a Fall crop. They are about 10 inches under a little 1000w (200w actual) 3500k+660nm light I got for $85 on Amazon. It's a good little light...great value. I fed all of them about a half-gallon each of frothy compost tea that I brewed up for 3 days...compost with biochar, fox farms cave culture bat and seabird guano, kelp me kelp you, soluble dolomite, bembe, humates, liquid molasses, terpinator, and a good blend of endomycorrhizae, trichoderma fungi, and beneficial bacteria...yummm...
Chopped them both down on 9/21. They got flushed once about 5 days ago, then I brought them home in the back of my truck to finish under 200w of 3500k+660nm.
9/30:
They both weighed in a little over an ounce each, which was a little surprising..
The buds were fairly dense considering how little direct sunlight they got, and they got really frosty at the end.
Both plants got that telltale C4 colors and flavor, which is always appreciated around my house.👍
#1: 30g
#2: 38g
I harvested them on 9/21. I had flushed them about 5 days earlier and brought them home in the back of my truck to finish under 200w of 3500k+660nm.
9/30:
Very disappointing yield, but considering how little direct sunlight they got, I suppose it's okay.
The buds were way too fluffy, but frosted up pretty well at the end.
#1: 37g
#2: 31g
#3: 22g
#4: 16g
I smoked some today and it was delish.
I harvested her on 9/21. I had flushed her about 5 days earlier and brought her home in the back of my truck to finish under 200w of 3500k+660nm. She was a really pathetic little plant. Doubt she yields 7 grams.
9/30:
Tiny plant..once dry, she weighed in at a whopping 11 grams of flower...
I smoked her last night and got pretty fucked up...
