RockoCalenberg White Gushers Cake – Germination Update
I placed the seeds between damp cotton pads and kept them evenly moist. After two days, three had germinated. The other two seeds were a bit lighter; after another two days, one of them also germinated.
I potted the first three. Two days later, the first seedling stretched its little head out of the soil. 👍
The last seed is now even lighter and more faded. So I don't expect it to come up anymore. As it stands, I assume that four out of five will make it and one will fail.
UPDATE
Well, look at that – never say never! 😄 The last White Gushers Cake made it after all. So now all five have germinated.
...😀 Now we can get started!
🔃
We are very excited that the seeds are finally here! 🌱
All five are set to germinate – now I'm curious about the germination rate and especially how quickly and evenly they come up. Especially with fresh seeds, I hope for a quick and as uniform a start as possible without any major latecomers. 🧡
The goal is to get them growing as quickly as possible so we can start selection early and finally choose our two candidates for the Cake Off. 1️⃣➕2️⃣
Now it's time to keep our fingers crossed for a strong start – and hopefully, there are two lovely ladies among them! 🤞🌱
Let the grow begin! 💚

RockoCalenberg Week 1 – First differences are showing! 🌱
Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the first week. 🌱😀
The White Gushers Cake are progressing a bit slower than the peaches. 🤨 Three popped up pretty quickly, while two are taking their sweet time. One of the latecomers has finally seen the light of day, but is still struggling to shed its seed coat. I had to give it a little help.
The last candidate is still sitting in the soil and is taking its time. Whether it will make it at all remains to be seen.
Now, everyone gets another week to grow. Then we'll see who has developed how and who has what it takes to stick around! 🌱

RockoCalenberg Week 2 – Totally relaxed 🌱
Day 8–14
The second week is over and we are taking it easy.
To create as constant conditions as possible in the tent, the lighting continues to run 24 hours a day. With moderate 170–200 PPFD and a good distance from the plants. Light stress is not noticeable so far.
Overall, the group is developing quite evenly now. Even the initially somewhat lanky candidates have settled in quite well again. There are hardly any larger outliers at the moment.
White Gushers Cake #4, our little runt, has finally decided to form leaves. 😄 Number 5, on the other hand, remains buried in the soil. Nothing more will probably come from that.
So far, there has only been water with a bit of root stimulant, both for spraying and for watering. Maybe next week there will be the first small portion of fertilizer.
I’m taking my time with the final selection. I simply need more impressions and have to see how the individual plants develop further.
You always have expectations. And in your imagination, you are sometimes already a few weeks ahead. 😄💨😂

RockoCalenberg 🎂 Rocko’s Cake Off 🍰🍪💚
📢 Kleinanzeige: Fünf junge Männer zum Mitreisen abzugeben! 🎡🤣
Jung, knackig, gut erzogen und voller Tatendrang. Leider im falschen Casting gelandet. Bei Interesse einfach melden! 😉

🎂 Rocko’s Cake Off 🍰🍪💚
Day 15–21 | The Cat’s Out of the Bag!
The little ones are developing surprisingly evenly. This week they got their first taste of Fish-Mix – and they absolutely loved it! 🌱
I accidentally let them dry out a little too much one day. But they didn't hold a grudge for long and bounced right back. 💧
There was still no way to tell just by looking at this little bunch of troublemakers who was male and who was female. So off went the samples to the lab – Realtime PCR instead of playing the guessing game!
And now the cat's out of the bag: Eight candidates, three ladies! Two Peaches & Cream and one White Gushers Cake. And the best part? My personal favorites actually made it onto the girls' team! ✅♀️😎
Peaches & Cream #2 in particular had already raised some suspicions with her striking praying leaves. She was the only one standing there like she was volunteering to answer a question. ⬆️😂
The three ladies have earned their spots: Two will eventually move into 25-liter fabric pots with fresh substrate, while the third will probably get a smaller pot on the side.
But first, it's time for some new shoes! This week they'll move into 3.5-liter intermediate pots. Their current ones are getting a little too tight.
There might even be some topping involved already. The general plan is double pruning to keep the plants compact and bushy. Especially White Gushers Cake – we don't want her taking over the entire tent just yet!
That's also why I've added some extra blue light during veg using the LED bars. 💙
I'll gradually increase the VPD as well. So far, the climate has still been running more at seedling levels.
Conclusion: Three ladies, my favorites made the cut, and the next steps are all lined up. Can't complain about that! 😎
📢 Classified Ad: Five young gentlemen available for relocation! 🎡🤣
Young, vigorous, well-behaved, and full of energy. Unfortunately, they showed up for the wrong casting call. Anyone interested, just give me a shout! 😉
Bake a sweeter tomorrow. 💟&☮️
Fingers crossed that the latecomers will catch up... I'm super curious to see how the strain will perform later! Have fun and good luck in the contest! 🙌💚
@BudsPerMinute, Thanks a lot! 😄🙌 Looks like we both have a few little latecomers on our hands. 😂 I'm really curious to see what the entire Cake Line has to offer. Let's just let the little ones do their thing – it'll be fine! 🌱😎💚
@ShivaShanti, Thanks bro ! 🤜🤛I’m already seeing clear differences after just a few days. I was a bit nervous about growing regular seeds again, but I’d be very surprised if I couldn’t find at least one great female in the bunch. Now we just have to wait and see who’s who—and who makes the cut!🌱💚✌️
