DogDoctorOfficial 🌿 From Grow to Homemade Preparations — My Experience with the Pot by NOIDS Cosmic Noodles Auto | Decarboxylation, Ethanol Processing, RSO-Style Concentrate & Infused Butter 💚 Welcome to the Green Side of the Journey! Hello everyone, and welcome back to another chapter of my GrowDiaries journey! 🌱 Today, we're doing something a little different from our usual growing diaries. Instead of looking at plants developing in the tent, we're looking at what happens after the harvest and how I use some of my homegrown material to prepare different products for my personal use. For this project, I'm documenting my experience with the Pot by NOIDS, a compact home-processing appliance I've owned and used for several years. I honestly can't remember exactly when I purchased it, but it's been part of my setup for a long time. We'll be looking at the equipment, the accessories, the different stages of my personal workflow, the results, and some important considerations for anyone researching this type of preparation for the first time. And before we go any further, let's make one thing clear: this is a record of my personal experience, not a medical prescription or a substitute for professional advice. I'm sharing what I did, what I observed, and what I've learned along the way. Let's get started! 💚 1. Getting to Know the Pot by NOIDS The Pot by NOIDS is a compact appliance designed for small-scale botanical processing at home. It offers dedicated functions for different preparation tasks, rather than requiring a collection of unrelated kitchen appliances. For someone like me, who grows at home and works with relatively small batches, this type of equipment makes sense. I'm not running a commercial production facility, and I'm not trying to process industrial quantities. I want equipment that suits my personal needs, fits into my home workflow, and lets me work with my own material in a consistent, organized way. That distinction is important: a compact home appliance isn't an industrial extraction or pharmaceutical manufacturing system. It doesn't automatically provide laboratory-grade purity, standardized potency, or medical-grade quality control. What it offers is a convenient way to carry out certain preparation tasks using a purpose-built appliance. As always, the functions, capacities, accessories, and operating limits should be checked against the manufacturer's documentation for the specific model. 🤝 A Little Story About the Team There's also a personal story behind this machine. I was one of the early users who purchased a Pot by NOIDS, and I had the pleasure of meeting the team at Spannabis a few years ago. They were genuinely kind to me. Over time, the machine evolved, and new accessories became available that hadn't existed when I first bought mine. One example was the accessory designed to help recover ethanol. The team was kind enough to send me updated components and replacement parts, even when I hadn't necessarily needed replacements. I now have two cups available, which is particularly convenient when working with separate batches or handling different stages of a preparation. It's always nice to see a company continue developing its equipment and supporting people who have been using its products from the beginning. That personal experience is worth mentioning because it's part of my story with this machine. Thank you to the NOIDS team for the support over the years! 🙌 🌱 2. The Starting Material: Cosmic Noodles Auto For this session, I used Cosmic Noodles Auto, an autoflowering variety I grew some months ago. I believe the harvest was around five or six months old, possibly older, but I didn't record the exact date. I'm not going to pretend otherwise but you can find the report here under its own diary if you curious. I also didn't weigh the material before starting. This was a personal preparation session rather than a controlled experiment, so some quantities were estimated by eye. The starting material was prepared by removing the larger stems and grinding the usable plant material before placing it in the machine. The photographs show the material and its appearance before processing. Because I didn't record the starting weight, moisture content, or laboratory results, we won't be able to calculate an extraction percentage or determine the final cannabinoid concentration. Those measurements would be necessary for a proper quantitative comparison. Sometimes the most useful thing we can do is document what happened honestly, including the information we didn't collect. 🔥 3. Decarboxylation: An Important Part of the Process The first stage was decarboxylation. In simple terms, decarboxylation is a chemical process in which certain cannabinoid acids lose a carboxyl group, changing their chemical form. For example, THCA can be converted into THC through decarboxylation. This is different from extraction, which involves separating desired compounds from the original plant material. The NOIDS appliance provides dedicated programs for different preparation types. Its instructions should be consulted for the appropriate program and operating parameters for the material being processed. In my session, I used the program intended for the THC-containing material I was working with. After the cycle, the material had a noticeably browner appearance than before. That was my visual observation, not a laboratory confirmation of the degree of decarboxylation. The machine did its cycle, and I returned to check the result afterward. One of the things I appreciate about a purpose-built appliance is that it helps organize the process without requiring me to supervise every moment. However, automated operation doesn't mean that every possible risk disappears, so the manufacturer's instructions and safety limits still matter. An important point for beginners: colour alone cannot confirm that decarboxylation is complete, and it cannot tell you the final potency of the material. 4. Understanding the Ethanol Stage For the next part of my session, I worked with pharmaceutical-grade ethanol labelled 99.9%. I used the appliance's dedicated container and accessories to handle the material during this stage. The general purpose of ethanol processing is to transfer certain compounds from plant material into a liquid solvent. The resulting liquid can contain cannabinoids, terpenes, pigments, waxes, and other compounds, depending on the material and the conditions. It is important to understand that the resulting mixture isn't automatically pure, and the concentration of its individual components cannot be determined by appearance alone. I didn't weigh the starting material or record laboratory measurements, so this part of the diary is a visual and practical account rather than a quantitative extraction study. ⚠️ Ethanol Safety Matters Ethanol is highly flammable, and its vapour can create a serious fire hazard. This remains true even when the alcohol looks like an ordinary clear liquid. Any solvent-handling or recovery equipment must be used only as explicitly permitted by its manufacturer, with the required ventilation and precautions. Never improvise a recovery setup, expose flammable vapours to ignition sources, or assume that an appliance is suitable for a particular solvent merely because it heats or processes liquids. I also want readers to distinguish the different terms used throughout this diary. An ethanol-derived concentrate is not automatically the same thing as distillate. Distillation involves a separate separation process. Unless that process has actually been performed and documented, the resulting material should be described as an ethanol extract or concentrate rather than assumed to be distillate. Likewise, the term RSO is commonly used for a particular style of cannabis extract, but a name alone doesn't establish its composition, purity, or suitability for consumption. Getting the terminology right is part of making this diary genuinely educational. ♻️ 5. The Ethanol Recovery Accessory One of the accessories I particularly appreciate is the ethanol recovery component that became available after I originally purchased the machine. The purpose of a recovery system is to collect solvent rather than simply lose it during processing. In my own experience, being able to recover some of the ethanol has been useful because high-purity ethanol can be expensive and sometimes difficult to source. Over time, I have continued using the accessory, and I've been pleased that it remains useful in my workflow. However, recovered solvent shouldn't automatically be assumed to retain its original purity. Its suitability for reuse depends on contamination, the equipment, and the manufacturer's instructions. Recovery isn't the same as analytical verification. The photographs document the equipment and the different appearances of the materials throughout my session. This is also a good reminder that accessories introduced after a product's original release can make a meaningful difference to the user experience. 💉 6. Concentrated Preparations and Storage At the end of the processing session, I collected a small amount of concentrated material in a syringe intended for handling and measuring liquids. The syringe shown in my photographs is a 1 mL syringe. That describes its capacity, not the amount of active compounds in the contents. A millilitre is a unit of volume, not a measurement of cannabinoid potency. Without analytical testing, neither the concentration nor the amount of THC in that volume can be established reliably. I also retained material in a less concentrated form for possible future projects. These are different preparations, and I want to be clear that their appearance, consistency, and volume cannot tell us how strong they are. Any concentrated material should be stored in an appropriate, clearly labelled, child-resistant container, following relevant storage guidance. It must be kept away from children, pets, and anyone who might mistake it for ordinary food. I won't be making gummies, infused honey, or other products in this particular diary. Those would be separate projects, each with its own considerations. For this entry, we're documenting the equipment, the preparation stages, and the butter I made during the same session. ? 7. My Homemade Infused Butter Another part of this session involved making infused butter. For me, this isn't primarily about baking elaborate desserts or preparing a large batch of edibles. I personally enjoy using a small amount of butter on toast during the colder months, sometimes alongside a cup of tea. I find the ritual relaxing, and I enjoy the quiet moment at the end of the day. That's my personal experience, rather than a claim that the preparation will produce the same effect for everyone. I used the machine's mixing function and the supplied mould to prepare and shape the butter. The photographs show the butter mixture, the mould, the cooling stage, and the finished block. After cooling in the refrigerator, the butter could be removed from the mould. Where a separate water layer was present, I removed it and dried the outside before storing the finished block. The result was a solid block of butter, ready to be stored for later use. I didn't weigh the starting ingredients or the finished product, and I didn't measure its cannabinoid concentration. Consequently, I can't provide a reliable strength-per-gram figure or a standardized serving size. That's a limitation worth recording, particularly because homemade infused foods can be much less predictable than people expect. 🧠 8. Edibles Are Different From Inhalation This is probably one of the most important educational sections in the entire diary. Eating a cannabis preparation is not equivalent to smoking or vaporizing it. When cannabis is inhaled, cannabinoids enter the bloodstream through the lungs relatively quickly. When cannabis is eaten, the digestive system and liver are involved, and THC is metabolized into other compounds, including 11-hydroxy-THC. As a result, the onset, duration, and subjective effects can differ considerably. Edible effects may take hours to become fully apparent and can last substantially longer than inhaled effects. Someone who assumes that nothing is happening and consumes more too soon can experience an unexpectedly intense and prolonged reaction. Concentrated preparations add another layer of uncertainty because their potency can vary considerably. For that reason, a homemade preparation without laboratory-tested potency should never be treated as a standardized dose. There is no universally reliable quantity that can be recommended from the photographs or the volume of a syringe. Anyone considering cannabis for a medical purpose should discuss it with a qualified healthcare professional, particularly if they take other medications, have relevant health conditions, or are unfamiliar with its effects. Cannabis can also impair attention, coordination, judgment, and reaction time. Do not drive or operate machinery while impaired, and avoid combining it with alcohol or other intoxicating substances. Keep all preparations securely stored and clearly separated from ordinary food. 💚 9. Personal Experience Versus Medical Claims I want to be very clear about why I'm sharing this project. Despite the name Dog Doctor, I am not a medical doctor, and this diary is not medical advice or a prescription. I'm documenting my own experience with a piece of equipment and the preparations I made for personal use. Some people explore cannabis-derived products in connection with pain, sleep, or other symptoms. However, the evidence, potential benefits, risks, and appropriate treatments differ depending on the condition and the product. I cannot establish that my homemade preparations are effective treatments, nor can I guarantee their safety or potency. I also can't tell readers whether they should use them. Homemade concentrates and infused foods can cause significant adverse effects, especially when their strength is unknown. Severe anxiety, confusion, vomiting, rapid heartbeat, and impaired coordination can occur. Children and pets can be particularly vulnerable to accidental ingestion. Although fatal poisoning from cannabis alone appears uncommon, it would be irresponsible to claim that nobody can die from cannabis-related exposure or complications. Serious emergencies are possible, and suspected poisoning warrants prompt medical advice. If someone experiences severe symptoms, or if a child or pet accidentally consumes a preparation, seek urgent professional help. I believe in being open about my own experiences, but I also believe in being responsible about the information I share. 📸 10. A Visual Diary, Not a Laboratory Study Throughout this report, the photographs serve as a visual record of the session. They show the starting material, the equipment and its accessories, the different stages of processing, and the final appearance of the butter. What they don't show is an exact starting weight, an extraction yield, a verified purity level, or a measured cannabinoid concentration. Those distinctions matter. If I repeat this experiment in the future with accurate weights, recorded settings, and appropriate laboratory analysis, I'll be able to compare the results more meaningfully. For now, this is a practical record of what I did, the equipment I used, and what I observed. I hope that sharing the experience helps other home growers better understand the difference between a personal project and a controlled, tested preparation. 🌿 Final Thoughts This was a different kind of GrowDiaries entry, but I think it's an important one. Growing a plant is only one part of the journey. Understanding the equipment, learning the terminology, documenting what we do, and acknowledging the limitations of our own experience are equally important parts of being an informed grower. The Pot by NOIDS has been part of my personal setup for years, and I'm grateful for the support I've received from its team along the way. I also hope this report makes one thing clear: just because a preparation is homemade doesn't mean its potency or safety can be taken for granted. Knowledge matters. Accurate documentation matters. And responsibility matters. As always, please remember that this is my personal experience, not an endorsement of any particular treatment or a recommendation for anyone to consume these preparations. Thank you for following along, for supporting my GrowDiaries projects, and for being part of this community. 💚 Stay curious, stay responsible, and keep learning!
