I cloned this from my Auto Speed Bud that turned out to be not so speedy. I figured it would be interesting to see what happens with it. I've got it outside for now with no real fertilizing other than a dash of Tiger Bloom every once in a while - seems to be doing OK. From what I remember the donor plant was real picky when it came to fertilizing.
Its doing OK this week but there are some odd things going on with it - I assume these are from being grown outdoors because I didnt see anything like this inside. I gave it a feeding with some Tiger Bloom because it looked like it could use some nutrition.
It has some weird mildew-ish looking stuff on it and some spots on the leaves. Any Clues????
I guess we'll see!
I'm just going to let nature take its course on this one as its more of an experiment than anything.
I just let nature do its thing - with a bit of cal mag & tiger bloom that is - but I haven't taken any action on the possible bugs and that weird white stuff. I was curious to see what would happen and was willing to sacrifice this thing for my curiosity (based on the quality of the donor plant this seemed a fair trade). But it doesn't look like its come to that. Although it does have a few spots from some possible bugs and some leaves turning yellow-brown much like its mother did toward the end, its rather healthy . I checked out the trichomes and they are all cloudy with a few ambers sprinkled in there ... BUT I don't see all that many orange hairs yet. Do I wait for more orange hairs or harvest based on trich cloudiness???
Attack!!
Anyone know what this is?? Bugs? That white stuff? If you look close at the 1st pic you can see some white spots on it.
This happened over the last few days, I was looking at it over the weekend and it was fine. Its interesting how it only got one bud, I wonder what its plans are for the others! Maybe I should pick this now and cut my losses.
Chopped her down. Got 2 buds in the garbage and 1 left. The last 2 shots are of the bud I'm keeping .. Gonna give it another look to make sure there is nothing nasty in there (not that I'm certain of what I am searching for :)
I'm no too upset about the loss - this was an experiment of sort anyway plus I'm sitting on 8 jars of buds curing as I type :)
I've learned a few things:
You can indeed clone autos - they wont grow to 6 feet, but it looks like the yield could be more than if you left the branch on. I wonder if this is because they continue the donor plant's time line or if they spent majority of their finite life on establishing roots and such.
Keep an eye on these plants (especially outdoors) - bud rot doesnt mess around and moves fast! If I would have realized the symptoms sooner I could have save a cola ...
Oh well - live and learn and grow more buds :)
Definitely don't smoke that brown bud. The mold spores are microscopic even if it doesn't look like its rotten it could have fungi spores all over it.
If you're going to keep it, best advice is to water cure the rest first you must dip into H2O2 to kill the fungi.
Otherwise I would throw away.
Like @goarilla said that can cause some nasty health problems, smoked some myself when I was a teen I was throwing up bile for a week 😥
I would not smoke that. Throw away whole cola and other colas in circle. You have only one life and health. Bud rot is dangerous, also spores can be everywhere if you have fans blowing on them.
John cut it down whatever is not affected you can keep in Smoke. Clean everything with bleach. Don't let it touch anything. It spreads through spores the travel through the air. Cut your losses and get rid of the whole plant.
I'm really sorry to see that happen to you bro 👊👊
I'm probably too late maybe you already got rid of it.
Why don't you go take a look at growweedeasy.com a lot of useful information there. Nebula is awesome❗ if you haven't already go check it out..
Like I said I'm really sorry to see that happen. Guaranteed it's bud rot..... you can save the non affected buds. Hey man good luck I feel for you..so sad.... but hang in there dude... what doesn't kill you will make you stronger... welcome to the learning curve.... I believe it just took a right turn on you..
Good Luck 👊👊
Mealy bugs by looks of it leave a white residue after they eat the thc and all nutrients out of leaves and buds. Spray soil with neem oil to kill eggs and get some organic pesticide to do the rest of plant cut that bud off and get rid they will soon spread. I lost a lot on a outdoor crop due to these. Can be hard to get rid of.
I say let it ride.. it's still got time.. But it's really up to you.
Its just a weed it will be fine. And I can guarantee 99% of everyone that smokes weed has at one time or another smoked a bug ...so let her ride and let's see what happens. Good Luck bro ❗
@JohnCH, It can go as fast as a few hours. I check my blooming plants a few times each day and cut off anything remotely resembling bud rot. A good give away for early mold is if your bud leaves break when you pull them towards you. Some strains are more susceptible to mold (Critical) while other are more resistant. Smoking infected buds can cause pulmonary sensitivity diseases (COPD, ...). Which are sort of like ... perpetual asthma.
@Tonino,Hmm, bud rot? I never thought of that - I guess it has been massively humid out lately. How long does it take for bud rot to set in? Its got to be less than 4 days because this looked fine then.
@BigDaddyK, I tried to wash and rub it off but I wound up tearing the leaf off. Its very strange, but it hasn't spread so no harm no foul I suppose ... of course not so sure I'd smoke it!
It doesn't look ready at all, and I would wait until more brown hairs show up, and the white ones start to fade down instead of sticking out. Checking trichomes can be misleading sometimes, better to make a call based on more than just trichomes.
Hello there! id suggest a large pot the size of a Bear hug ( as big as your arms are in a circle) transplant in clean soil than a nice brew of Kronic T ( Comfrey Plant steeped in water over a few nights) water your baby with this the nutrients are NPK 1.8-0.5-5.3 with calcium and magnesium. This kind of brew stays in your soil for a long time and also will be great with your bloom juices. Just one jug of brew would do, it would bring your girl back to health in no time. Peace an Happy growing!
