Bubba Kush (Dinafem)

BillMonroe Growing up in a 2.3x2.3. Peat light mix. LED: 3000K Citizen CLU048-1212 3000K powered by Meanwell ELG-200-36 Strange plant. No matter what, the branches grow totally vertically! Every branch required training since day 1. Also, before maturity when the plant made symmetrical nodes, only one of each set of shoots would develop into a proper branch. The other one would stay very small, no exceptions. But it smells absolutely amazing when the stem is rubbed! So I'm giving this one to the 2x2. Let's see it flower. Soon. No fuss veg - will update weekly in flower. There's a bit of burnage due to the lights being to close for a shorter companion plant. That plant has been thrown out... it might make a return some day 😏 Not many diaries of this one around. So give a shoutout if bubba kush saved your life or got you back with your ex wife. BillMonroe Alright, everything is cleaned up. Time to flower this stinker. I already notice that the coco is vastly superior to peat. The plants don't droop when you water them. In peat you are constantly between overwatered and underwatered. No matter how dry the peat gets, the plant droops when it gets water. Coco's wicking action is superior resulting in easy and even moisturing. The peat side has a massive advantage because those 4 clones were air layered. They started off about 3 times bigger than the 5 coco clones. Let's see the little ones face off against the big ones. I'll give them a little more veg time. Prune the big ones a bit to slow them & even things out. I'm looking for differences in plant health and vigor, bud density and smell/taste. Taking into account ease and economy of use... Super fast growth on the coco, thick cable roots poking out the bottom. Unseen in peat. The coco plants a little more pale === Update: Well, the peat side is looking great as usual but the plants on the coco side are looking a bit lackluster. Maybe because they all grew up in a small volume of peat and they need to adapt to the coco. The symptoms seem to be not the same between plants. I'm increasing the EC to 1.6. Hopefully they grow out of it. I also forgot the PH properly the first watering, that's kinda stupid. So the first watering was 6.7 PH. Let's see if the coco plants get greener. === The plant that started in 1.6 EC (but still the wrong PH) is certainly greener than the other ones. It seems that 1.2 EC was not enough. Whatever the case, this is going to be a good learning experience === I think the coco's cation exchange sites were not filled properly because the runoff EC was half of the input (0.6 - 0.9) I flushed all of them with 1.75 EC, 5.8 PH until the runoff was at least 1.4 EC. Now I'm gonna try to stop fucking with it and it should hopefully get better. === The new growth on all coco plants seems to be looking much better and faster The plant that started in 1.6 EC but wrong PH is doing quite nicely. Other ones still need to do a little better.

BillMonroe After a few struggles with coco (see week 3) I got everything to grow vigorously and green. Now it's time to go 12/12 Really happy that all the coco plants have gone back to green. The new growth on them is really developing much faster than the peat plants. It almost looks like the plants can't keep up with themselves. The plant I started on 1.6 EC did best, but I didn't run enough water through it to get good runoff EC. Now I wonder, why did they show some problems. Is it because the plants needed to get used to coco, or is it because I fucked up with the first time watering it. Oh well.

BillMonroe Not much flowering going on yet. Good health and impressive explosive root growth in the coco. Much easier than growing in peat. Pircs from day 7 The only time I have seen such roots with peat is using Air pots. Another lesson: air pots may be terrible with peat but they are great for coco. Water just runs out the sides when the peat gets hydrophobic.

BillMonroe Hmm, now the peat and coco are looking quite different. The coco plants have thicker stems, but they also look like they could still use a bit higher EC. On day 14 I watered the peat plants and did some defoliating, that's what you can see in the pictures. There's not a whole lot to see yet, but I really like this plant already. I'm having positive experience with coco. the peat plants got 1.7 EC water with 2.2-2.7 EC runoff (1100-1350 ppm), 6,5 ph The coco plants got 2.0 EC water with 1.4-1.7 EC runoff (700-850 ppm), 5.5 ph as per the recommendation by plagron

BillMonroe 2 of the 5 coco plants are doing good but 3 others were looking awful and got behind. It was a bit unexpected. I've never had such unhealthy plants before. The peat side is doing good The runoff PH on some plants was 5.2. Adding way too much phophoric acid to get to 5.5 (Plagron recommendation) Well, fuck their recommendations. looking objectively, they are so dark green that the EC of 2 is probably also unnecessarily high. After a few waterings they are back to normal PH and EC, growing well again and getting back on track! Now I will not go above 1.5 or 1.6 anymore. === update I got some of those white crawling bugs. They came up after watering. I hit them with Gnatrol WDG and BAC vitality (as root drench) and they died. They only live in the air-pots. After the nuke I had to flush out the pots with 4 liters of nutrient solution because the PH came down to 5.

BillMonroe Everything seems back on track, all the coco plants have resumed growing healthily :) In 1 or 2 weeks I'll take the plants out to take some good photos Enjoy bubba kush. BillMonroe Well I'm just considering my options now They're all throwing bananas and looking fucked up. I guess the weirdness of this plant is explained - it's a hermaphrodite. The top calyxes are swelling and orange pistils so they're probably getting seeded up. I opened some buds and found male parts along the female parts. Kinda bummed because it's a great smelling plant and it took quite some time to make all those clones hehe. Oh well, another learning experience :) I'll post pics of the plants when I harvest them... still loads of THC and a good smell. hope not everything is seeded For now this diary is over Good luck everybody!

BillMonroe Well, it's much more female than male and smells real dank! So who cares? We can always make hash ;) The smell is really great, and I can say that the taste is on point after trying a decapitated stalk with some bananas. This strain will be amazing in normal female conditions and I am looking forward to flowering out another phenotype.

BillMonroe Alright first off, the nanners were mostly sterile and/or removed by Yours Truly. I could barely find any seeds actually. So far I have only 2 after handling every bud. I did defoliate heavily and put them under very intense lighting. Probably, the male parts were stress induced. I would not fault Dinafem anyway because hermaphroditism can happen. And let's be honest, if you look at those plants do you see a female one or a real hermaphrodite? BTW, this plant was so good that I can't wait to grow the seeds- and I am not a fan of "bag seed" From a 2x2 I got a little over 130 grams. But let's not talk about yield because this is truly some amazing quality. The smell is 10000% kush, you will love it. I have a second seed that shows exactly the same leaves, stems and smells as this one. So I have faith that there is some stability in this genetics. Haven't flowered it yet though. Like I said, just read Dinafem's description on the website. I think it is 100% true about my result which is something I find amazing. The harvest window they gave was pretty much right on the money. I think these people have really done their work, at least, with this strain. Well, I can't really say all this because I only flowered one seed of it. But to have such a result makes me really happy. I don't write this review for dinafem or any other seed company... just for you, the reader, who wants to find something dank to grow If you want a little more yield, go for another one. This is also a pretty slow vegging plant. The THC % must be really high. The first time I smoked it I started sweating. Ignore the flavors I report, it's either dank or not and this is Dank
