Apologize about the delayed journal start. This Granddaddy purple has been going for 13 weeks now above soil. Now that people are not looking for babies to do their 4 legal plants where I live it’s almost time to force this baby factory into flower. Almost is the key word though as she will be kept in veg for roughly another month until her spot is ready for her.
I have high hopes for this girl! We shale see if she lives up to my expectations 😀 chuckle
Since suffering heat damage from being outside Gabby has been moved inside to recover. By end of week she seems to be on track to survival. Stunted s little I’m sure but that’s okay she’s waiting for tent light to go to 12 12 anyways.
The start of this week Gabby’s tent space was freed up for her to start flowering now. She spent 2 days in blackout befor being feed transitioning to flowering nutrients. The day after her blackout I noticed her first pistil appearing. Last feeding was watered with Cal-Mag and ph’d 6.2
Gabby doesn’t seem to be as healthy as her tent neighbors and I’m assuming it’s due to her being a few weeks older then other 3 in tent. Chalking her up to a cal-mag deficiency at same time as blackout shock. Atleast this will be the first step to figuring out why she’s not happy anymore.
Numbers in pictures:
AG = above ground
FD = flowering day
This week we’ve seen 3” of new growth across and a fuller canopy. Lower growth that I felt was just taking the nutrients away from top canopy has been cut off so she can focus on the tops.
Believe my deficiencies you should see in one of this weeks pictures I think is working itself out. Well I hope it is anyways. If it takes a turn for the worst in the upcoming week I’ll give her some flora Klein and just start from scratch on her nutrients. Her 3 neighbors don’t seem to be effected and they have been treated the same as Gabby here every step of the way.
For the most part Gabby has mirrored what she did last week. She has put on another 3” in height and 2” in width making her canopy that much fuller. Each of her top branches are now showing very obvious flower sites as they have at the very least doubled, almost tripled in size. She seems to be happy and healthy as she continues to be fed 2 litres of green planets 3 part nutrients. Fed full strength nutes Friday’s and Tuesday’s with Sunday being ph’d Cali-magic. This leaves Thursday’s as a judgement call on moisture level. If plant is to dry I’ll give her a single litre of ph’d water to make it to the next days nutrients but I try not to water Thursday’s to stress em out a little.
Until next week May your harvests be plentiful!
Gabby the granddaddy purple grew 2 1/2 inches in height this week. Seems like vertical height growth is starting to slow down leading me to believe that the stretch is coming to an end. Now she can focus on making her flowers bigger and more dense.
Gabby is still being watered;
-Tuesday with full gp3 (green plant 3 part) plus Cali mag by General hydro PhD to 6.2 roughly 2 litres
- Thursday get PhD Cali mag water and
Only 1 litre at most. Try not to water Thursday unless she is to dry to make it to Friday
-Friday full gp3/ Cali mag PhD 2-3 litres
-Sunday full gp3/Cali mag PhD 2-3 litre
-Monday/Wednesday/Saturday no water.
This week had a pretty major change not just in flower production, but also decided to change tent set up as well. Changes to the tent included ditching the 600w led and the 2x 2000w garbage led lights (i call bs on manufacturer saying they are 2k) These 3 lights are now out and we have stepped up to cmh 315w. Should have bought this cmh 315 right off the hop and not spent the money on led. Now going to cmh the tent run way hotter and has required other upgrades to keep from overheating. The duct system was dual t4 cloudlines running one in and one out off the same control module has now been changed to a T6 cloudline exhausting with a t4 feeding cool/fresh air. Tent jumped 9 degrees with cmh 315 so had to also add the overheat back up plan. Put a 6” inline duct (can fan pushing extra 200 cfm) along the exhaust line closer to window exhaust point which is plugged into an ink bird plug and play thermostat set to 82. This just helps the T6 do a better job with less noise.
With these changes I feel way more confident of yielding a higher gram/plant ratio. I believe if you look at last weeks pictures and compare to this weeks you will probably agree with me.
You decide .......😀
Gabby’s stretch appears to be over now as she has only put on 2 inches in vertical growth over the last 2 weeks. Her flowers are pretty skinny still as she doesn’t seem to want to start focusing on bulking up yet but I’m sure in the last couple weeks coming up here she will figure it out. I guess we shale see won’t we......
Nitty gritty time. With any luck we might see some purple but even if the purple hues don’t come in the Trichomes and hairs have almost turned enough to flush.
Last week of flowering for Gabby!!! 😀 lower leafs are starting to turn yellow and I’m happy with the amount of amber Trichomes there are to milky ones. She has been fed general hydroponic florakleen and I plan to harvest her tomorrow after work. Ordered a third dehumidifier today to upgrade the near useless first one I bought.
Gabby here is my official first photo period plant. She took me on a 27 week long journey watching her grow up and teach me lessons along the way!!! Watching her grow from seed, to holding her in veg an extended length to cut babies off her for friends outdoor crops this year. She went through multiple topping early on to create her 4 main stems, all of which were LST’d to shape a flat even canopy as long as possible during flowering. Bamboo stakes supporting custom green screens to maintain canopy spread during veg.
I’m pretty happy with my results on this strain and now kick myself for not holding onto a clipping of her befor flowering. On a bright note I still have a couple more GDP seeds ......
But for now we move onto “Hanna and her babies” Hindu Kush.
Thanks for following along the journey and Happy Harvesting!😀!😜!
Looking good, friend!
beeneani to get my hands on some GDP regular so we can breed with Panama Red 😎
Looking forward to this harvest!
Happy growin' y'all!
